    I have this in the convertible version. This guy is reviewing this as though it is supposed to be a muscle car, even though it is not the V8 GT. People who want the sort of things that seem important to him buy the GT. As a buyer of the 4 cyclinder (with no performance pack, and all season tires) what do I want? Better gas mileage. Enough get up and go for someone not looking to race (or ever to use track mode or a drift brake for that matter). Good looking. Cool tech (whether he likes it or not I do). Comfortable to drive. Easy operation of the convertible top. He clearly wants a fully loaded GT manual. He is upset that it doesnt meet his expectation of what a pony car HAS to be. I guess he thinks people like me shouldn’t be driving a mustang. I love my car.

      I agree with what you say 100%. I bought a premium eco boost off the lot for $38,000 with options that brought the sticker to $43,575. That's $5,575 off the sticker. The base non-premium eco boost with the same motor and drive train starts at $31,000. I'm sure you can get that discounted into the 20's. My car will go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds (Car and Driver did 4.5). The GT with V8 will go 0-60 in 4.3 seconds.....a whopping half a second faster than mine. Plenty fast for me and I'll pass plenty of gas stations.

    • @RyneLanders
      @RyneLanders หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      He's reviewing it as a muscle car because it uses a muscle car design, with a muscle car's name, and all of the associated history of that muscle car the brand has built up over 50 years. And there are undoubtedly a lot of people who look at this trim as potentially a cheaper way to get into that muscle car experience, so the review is informing them that this isn't going to cut it.
      It seems like the 4 cylinder is just not a good choice in these cars much like the 4 cylinder made no sense in the Jaguar F-Type. There will be edge cases with owners like you who really appreciate what it brings, but I think most people will find it cuts too many corners on the car's ambitions and reputation to be worth it, and that's what the video highlights.

    • @ljmorris6496
      @ljmorris6496 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Really?, even in the "muscle car" days, 318 Chargers, i6 Challenger/Mustang/Camaro rolled out the factory, it's a mass market car. The F-Type is an dedicated sports car like the Corvette. Too much insecurity..

    • @samuelhaber2471
      @samuelhaber2471 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @rynelanders the idea that mustangs are viewed only as muscle cars may be true in your circles but I had a V6 mustang convertible in the 1980s. It would not have blown the doors off anything. It was a fun affordable convertible.

    • @RyneLanders
      @RyneLanders หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@samuelhaber2471 everything was slow in the 80s due to the fuel crisis from OPEC in the late 70s. I don't think that's indicative of the overall ethos the line is known for, nor is it in line with the current design of the Mustang. This one looks the same as the range-topping V8 one, which is what everyone thinks of when they think of Mustangs, so it's natural to review it in that context. I'm glad you're OK with a basic economy car in Mustang drag, and that's fine, but you can't get excited when everyone else rightfully compares this one to the standard and find it comes up short.

    Guys, almost no one pays 40k plus for an EB.
    Fun fact - I got my GT PP Premium in 2015 for 40k. Great engine and looks, very reliable and comfortable. Terrible panel gaps and steering sucked. Handling was very good once I went aftermarket for bushings, shocks and springs but GR86 handles much better as its better dialed in.

    I've tried a bunch of S550 Mustangs (Ecoboost stock, Ecoboost modded, GT non-performance pack stock, Shelby GT350) and it's crazy how much variability there is in the handling and driving experience. The stock ones felt like absolute boats (wallowy suspension, super sensitive brake / accel pedal, zero grip) while the GT350 was up there with the best cars I've ever driven. Wish the base Mustangs were better tuned.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Interesting! I think a comfortable cruising car is what the vast majority of Mustang buyers prefer, hence why it is set up that way (i.e., those customers will genuinely come back to the dealer and make a warranty complaint if the steering wheel is wiggling about in their hands with feedback or if the ride is too harsh!) even if that's frustrating to enthusiasts. As you imply the engineers are more than capable of making a sharp driving machine, but they aren't allowed to for most variants (there's strict Ford NVH standards and all those kinds of things, that can be ignored for the GT350 but are strictly enforced for normal Mustangs).

    Well at least it looks great as a diecast 1:18 scale model. Ford does not seem to understand how to engineer in steering feel for electric steering. (Time to call Porsche) Their marketing department determined that the four cylinder EcoBoost sold more in automatic form. Still if Ford really wanted to cater to the enthusiast driver, they would still offer the manual. Unfortunately, so many car manufacturers feel the need to go with computer generated Nintendo Game Boy dashboards today. I think the worst is Mercedes. I remember when Mercedes came out with the 1970 280 SE with a real wood dash that was finished varnish over wood and offered lots of chrome. Sports car had manual gauges etc. Technology sometimes does not improve the driving experience. After viewing this video, I think I'll stick with my 2022 Subaru BRZ limited 6 speed manual.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Zygrene drove a Fiesta ST on this very channel that had good electric power steering IIRC. I suspect they are able to make reasonable electric power steering but that the feedback is deliberately filtered out with pull-drift compensation and all those kinds of things, as that is what most customers want. Quote:
      "Now Ford has released details on another advantage of its EPS system - a software-based pull-drift compensation program thathelps keep a vehicle equipped with EPS on trackwhen faced with crosswinds or an uneven driving surface. When the [Ford pull-drift compensation] program detects extra effort being used,the electric motor adds torque in the proper direction to prevent the driver from having to make corrections to keep the car on course. The compensation program is said to be virtually undetectable by the driver when in operation, and the program automatically resets itself to compensate for changing road conditions or curving roads. Ford says *the pull-drift compensation program is designed to increase customer satisfaction in steering, suspension, and ride quality surveys by up to 50%* "
      - MotorTrend article "Ford Electric Power Steering Technology Offers Automatic Pull-Drift Compensation"
      "Most" customers intend to cruise on the highway with their Mustang and associate isolation with quality, unfortunately. 🤨
      In VW Audis, if you have VAGCom you can go into the steering module and turn off the pull-drift compensation which is called "straight line running" -- this slightly improves the typical numb VW Audi steering. Thankfully there are still cars like the Subaru BRZ and RenaultSports & Alpines that have column mount motors and intentionally designed to have (rather than intentionally not have) steering feel!

In the words of Ken Miles to Leo Beebe in Ford vs Ferrari: It looks fantastic. But inside, it's a lump of lard, dressed up to fool the public. My advice is, lose the inline-six and that idiotic three-speed, shorten the wheelbase, somehow lose half a ton, and lower the price: But even then, I'd still choose a Chevy Chevelle. The cars made by Ford-Werke GmbH in Germany and Belgium have pretty good panel gaps and quality control. I guess it depends factory-to-factory on the age of the equipment and so on.
      Some Ford factories use older equipment on the production line -- the factory in Australia building Falcons and Territories was using really old equipment, as there wasn't a business case to refurbish the factory.
      I guess where Mustangs are made in Flat Rock, Detroit uses older equipment too (or American QC doesn't care, there isn't much of an attitude of setting aside cars with leaky seals and bad panel alignment for rework as that would set back production targets? "get it out the door!").

I live up state New York and love driving it through the mountains. I love the sound of the twin turbo and the breaks are great.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@opmike343 There were plenty of modified stock Mustang GTs in the Bathurst 6 hour production car race. The engine has to be stock but boost is free, so this race tends to dominated by BMWs like M2s and M4s where there is a lot of scope to turn up the boost. You're allowed to change out the coilovers, brakes etc but most of the cars still use all the OEM CAN BUS wiring and need to do a pedal dance to defeat traction control before they go racing!
      Bathurst has always been a bit of a power circuit and muscle cars (Mustangs, Falcons, Camaros, Commodores, even Jaguar XJS V12s) have always gone well there due to the two long straights, even if cars like the BMW E30 M3 were much faster over the top of the hill.

    They can't keep ecoboosts on the lot. You'll see more 5.0's on the lot than ecoboosts around here. The Ecoboost premium with performance pak is a bit pricey. But the Coyote with performance pack will set you back and extra 10K on top of that. The one to get (Ecoboost) is the base model with 101A equipment group and active valve exhaust. That will only set you back just under 36K. Plus there is a $500 aftermarket software update that will add 65 WHP. It would be easy get it close to 400HP. And no hot babe ever looked twice at a Mitzu or a Honda. :)

    Let's see. Iconic heritage (dare I say soul?), 0-60 in the low 5 second range, convertible availability, flirts with 30 mpg numbers, regular Ford Tech updates over time, noting that past Mustangs were offered with 4 cylinders, and it's not something that looks like everything else out there. Hmmm. A touch of ODD on your part?

    Question: how often does he read out how much a Porsche costs ? Or better yet, the underpowered, overpriced Hondas and Acuras he loves.
    I'll wait for the answer.
    About the displays - BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Chevy, all have tech like this. So are you saying it needs more RAM, or are you one of the guys that thinks analog should be around forever?
    And people say he's not biased ? Right!. He's the only person I know that's found a leaking window in a Mustang. You mean to tell me all the clapped out Porsches, S2ks, Miatas he drives don't ever have mechanical issues, but the Mustang he points out issues and the price? He's just like any other Honda/Acura owner. They will lie about quality just to make their overpriced , underperforming, Hondas and Acuras look better.
    He is full of 💩

    • @Maljey
      @Maljey หลายเดือนก่อน

      The leaking window issue is a legit concern though, considering this is a brand new 2024 Mustang and not a clapped out used car.
      I don't really care about a turbo 4 Mustang costing 48K, so long as its a good drivers car and can compete with other performance cars in its price range. I hate when people compare the turbo 4 Mustang to the V8 Mustang. Wtf is the point? That's like comparing a Civic Si to a Civic Type R, or a Golf GTI to a Golf R, or a BMW M340i to a BMW M3.
      The turbo 4 Mustang at this 48k price needs to be compared against the Civic Type R, WRX TR, Corolla GR, 400Z base model, Supra 2.0, etc. It seems to be more of a GT car versus those others, and that's ok if that is something you're looking for.
      And yeah, Porsche charges 70K for a base Cayman with a turbo 4. It competes with a base model V8 Corvette at that price. Porsche has been out of their minds on pricing and options. They are some of the worst offenders.
