Did the wagon off-road wheels come installed on it in the crate? Trying to figure how long it will take to uncrate and prep to pull around to back of house…
Bigger than my first apartment, but MUCH nicer. Leave it to the Wizard of Barbecue Lab to lure me into a video for a device I will never buy, but love to learn about. Still the Numero Uno BBQ/GRILL channel out there!
I been wanting one but there wasnt many videos on the cabinet. I have a yoder 640 and Large green egg. This looks like a nice unit thanks for the review will be tuning in for some more content on it
I’ve been looking at Lone Star Grillz for a long time. Thank you sharing this video. It’s way bigger than lone star grillz website shows. You can also use wood chips mixed with the pellets at the same time. I look forward to seeing your next video.
It’s hard to imagine the scale until you’re standing next to it. Melissa came up with the idea of how to shoot that main image, and it really tells the story. I need to order some wood chips to run that test. It’ll certainly be in the next video.
It is more than just capacity - it is also about cooking on taller grates. I’m 6’6” and cooking on the grates at 45, 51, 58 inches from the ground is my favorite feature. The cabinet door is by far the easiest access option too. I keep the lowest shelf for water pans and rendering tallow. Capacity is just a bonus as it is just my wife and me, with the occasional kid or friend over. Holidays when all the kids and guests come are too easy. Happy to pay the 1/2 lb per hour of pellet consumption over my 42 at the same temp! I got it to cook taller.
I'm sure that extra height is a game changer for those who are taller. There aren't many grills with grates at that height, so makes total sense to me.
Already have the 20x42 and have the cabinet on order( 4 month lead time) if it performs half as well as the 20x42 it will be the second best smoker in the world!!!🤣
What were your thoughts on the quality of the final product compared to a smaller pellet smoker without the greater capacity? Having said that, I loved the look and size but really just questioning the end results
Love your videos, very professional but accessible at once. The smoke is amazing and I could see using this to cook for groups but not for my own daily needs. I wonder if they'd make one that has half the capacity, or if this is strictly to access more of a pro market? Either way, I'd love to have one to cook for church and for our homeless ministry. Keep up the good work!
Their other pellet smokers are more of a daily single family smoker to me, and this one is all about cooking for groups in my opinion. I did fire it up for a single brisket the other day, and it did great, but I only used 1/4 of 1 shelf out of 4 total shelves. While I could use it for daily use, I think it’s going to be a community style cooker here at The Lab. Whenever we’re cooking for church or the non-profits we support, this thing will be in the mix.
That is an awesome smoker. We have a big family of six and I want to start doing eventish type things but not full fledged catering. I want to get into bbq competitions so I’m considering between a heavy duty pellets smoker or a gravity fed charcoal smoker. Would love to see you do a comparison on something like that LSG and a Stumps gravity fed charcoal smoker. I can only barely afford one if I want to stay happily married 😂
I haven’t ever cooked on a Stumps gravity, but I hope to one of these days. I guess my initial thoughts come down to the type of competitions you’d like to enter. Some allow electricity and pellet grills, and others don’t. That might be a deciding factor depending on which way you want to go with it.
I would use that beast for business to get it 4 times a week in a street set up and sell smoked pork butt ask sandwiches by the pound. By the way I’d love to sample your seasoning rub.😉
I'd like to see you try 50/50 split of pellets and wood chips the lone star does with its other pellet grills and sausage capacity--interested in that.
I plan on testing chip and pellet blend, but I need to order some wood chips first. I also plan on doing some sausage capacity during an upcoming grinder video, so stay tuned.
I'm curious how this design distributes the heat. I didn't see where they put the port for the stack. Where they placed the exhaust port impacts heat distribution. A biscuit test would show where the hot and cool spots are.
Looks like a great piece of equipment you got there, another thing: is there something like an Oklahoma Joe Tahoma, only where the rocketstove shape sits offset the cook chamber?
Very nice smoker. It's huge, but it's footprint is the same or smaller than the traditional offset style. I just don't know that I'd need that much cook space. What I was really wondering though, is how much more smoke you get on a cook if you use the pellets and wood chips, as opposed to just the pellets? Especially on a longer cook like brisket or pork butts.
I don't have any personal experience with the Timberline XL, so I can't really speak to that grill. We'll see what the future holds, but if I get the opportunity to work on it, i'll have more perspective to give.
Did you know that 100# of butts can produce almost a gallon of drippings. If you didn’t cook in pans ( which reduces smoke flavor on products) could that unit cook a full load without over flow of waste?
I have only ever cooked on one RecTeq, and that was in our best pellet grill under $1,199 video. Thats the only experience I have with the brand to date.
I’m not sure what the current market value is for a kidney, but if you have extra, I really like the off road package so far. The fact that I can pull this cooker from the garage to the back patio myself when it weighs 700-800lbs is no small feat.
Would really like to hear an honest testimony to whether this smoker provides better flavor / more robust smoke than, say, a Traeger or Camp Chef, or if it’s a toss up?
dang, should have left them out of the pans. that thing is designed to handle the grease. with that being said, you guys should do a multi protien smoke with all racks filled to capacity. The person or business who buys this will most likely be stuffing this thing full.
For future cooks, I’ll run it without pans, but for that first cook, I was going off advice from a friend who owns the same pellet cabinet. In the full review, we’ll omit the pans and run multiple proteins for sure.
I was surprised that I could move it myself across the grass and to the back patio. I’ve done it three times now, and even as heavy as it is, I can still move it without calling for help. If it was on casters though, that would be a different story. Grass and casters don’t mix well in my experience.
You realize this is their largest unit, right? LSG also makes smaller pellet grills. This smoker isn’t a joke by any means, but if you can’t handle the size, they’ve still got you covered.
Anything LSG makes is an awesome cooking machine! Love the off road package too.
Best cabinet smoker in my opinion!!!
I’m just a few cooks in, but the smoke ring I got on a brisket last week was surprisingly thick with a crispy bark. I am impressed so far.
Thanksgiving will be here soon, so I would suggest whole turkeys, hams, and brisket. It is a monster!
Pretty sure this is going to play into Thanksgiving around here soon…
Would love to see a video showcasing this machine using multiple briskets with no pans :)
Did the wagon off-road wheels come installed on it in the crate? Trying to figure how long it will take to uncrate and prep to pull around to back of house…
I think this would be great for a small business.
ohh yeah
There certainly is room to spare on this cooker. I think it could easily be for a small business, caterer or event facility.
@@TheBarbecueLab if it came with a trailer hitch would be killer.

I'm 6'10 and this is the main reason I got the cabinet smoker.
How even is the heat temperature top to bottom, side to side.
Looks great

Can’t wait to see brisket test and biscuit test for the hot spots

Curious the difference in taste and flavor if you did pork butt on grates instead of foil trays
Thank you for your video! At first glance it looked like a Shirley Fabrication offset cabinet smoker. Very nice looking smoker. What is the price?
Nice video you can try brisket
I own a LSG 40x22 pellet grill. I'm curious how even the temp range is in this grill. Also where the ideal cooking area would be for a brisket or 2
Cook with it like you would an offset and you will def be surprised at the results. Load it with briskets and use the Goldees method.
I would like to see how many brisket that cooker can hold at one time

There are heat maps and tests results shared on the Facebook group
Have you guys tried the wood chips with it yet

I’m not aware of anything like that, but it could exist. I just haven’t seen it.
Cook time? Temperature? All helpful for the uninitiated. To big for what I need but still cool.
You could fit your next door neighbor in there!
If he needs a place to sleep, he could probably make it work if the missus throws him out.

Is there a quick dump for ash pot? Or do you vacuum?!
Quick dump
Fire pot access underneath for quick access and dump line the 42 or 36
Price??
Looking forward to my invite 😊
This is definitely in consideration for being a tax refund purchase next year. High probability. Looking forward to more on it.
Man, you must have spent a small fortune on all that protein! I can't help butt wonder what you did with all of that??
We cooked 22 pork butts for a youth event with 300 people in attendance. We fed everyone and even had a bit leftover, but it was awesome.

It starts at $3,895 and you can add options from there.
