    This is one of those pellet smokers you buy when you realize you're tired of dating all the other stupid pellet grills and want to settle down with "the one" for the rest of your life.

    I’ve had my LSG for a little over a year. Simply put… it’s by far the most versatile and quality made smoker I’ve ever had. I bought the grill grates and plancha for it too. So from BBQ, grilled steaks, to flat top breakfast… we got it covered. Awesome tool!

    Great review of this amazing cooker. I took delivery of mine a few months ago and haven’t looked back. Hands down the best pellet smoker I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned a few. Chris at LSG is also amazing to work with, which makes the experience even better. I’ve also been rolling with the pellet/wood chip mix and haven’t gone back to 100% pellets since. All other pellet grill manufactures should just throw in the towel. Game over.

    • @shawnsgear
      @shawnsgear ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What other pellet smokers have you owned if you don't mind me asking? Also, if you haven't owned these what made you pick lone star (Yoder, Mak, Pitts & Spitts)?

    • @emailaccount2904
      @emailaccount2904 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@shawnsgear Not the person you asked, but I've had 3 Memphis Pellet grills (one Pro and two Elite built-ins) and a Blazin' Gridiron.
      To be honest, I would most likely have another Memphis Elite if wasn't for the SHOCK of seeing Made In China on the box of the last one. FYI - It showed up DOA.
      A Yoder was at the top of my list this time until a mention of the LSG. After a lot of researching, I was sold.
      Waiting for my LSG 20x42 grill now.
      My major requirement for a pellet grill are:
      1) Made in USA
      2) Auger Tube not sitting right over burn pot (susceptible to auger fires)

    PINNED COMMENT:
    Hey, Everyone! Ok, here’s my list of changes/corrections/additions to the video (this list will grow over time as people chime in):
    - The igniter is tested to 100,000 cycles NOT 1,000,000 like I said on the video. I spend three fulls days editing this and I think I got delirious at some point lol. That’s still a LOT is testing cycles. Sorry for the mistake!

    This review may be the reason I change my mind from getting a Yoder to a LSG pellet grill. I've been cooking on a Gator Pit offset for 15 years and I am tired of managing the offset all day long. Its fun and it produces great food its just not convenient. This pellet smoker has so many amazing features and the convenience. I would probably cook on this a few times a week vs a few times a summer on my big offset. Thanks again!

    I think I’m down to this or the Pitts and Spitts Maverick 1250. I can pick up either one locally since I live in the area so I would save on any shipping costs. Only thing I really don’t care for on the Maverick 1250 is the roll top door. It leaves very little room for food on the top grate. Price is about the same on both.

    I have 4 grills ( I know I know). I have the baby Weber that I use for hamburgers and hotdogs bc it fires up so fast and its quick and easy to clean. The small Blackstone for bacon, sausage, veggies etc for the same reason. It fires up fast and the clean-up is quick and easy.Then I have the Chargriller 980 smoker which does a great job (for the price). Then I have a 4 burner Charbroil gas grill for when company comes over and I have to cook a lot of meat. After watching this video I am wondering if I could replace all of my grills (except my baby Weber, I want to keep that one for camping) with this LS Grillz and be satisfied. I have never owned a pellet grill but have several friends who do (Traegers). Great video sir!

    Great video Mike. I have the exact same one. Your review is spot on.
    The only negatives I've found is the turning radius with the tires hitting the bottom shelf. Your buddy Russ has a mod to help with that. The other negative is no latch hook to hold up steering handle. Where did you get your handle hook? My pit didn't come with one.
    I haven't tried the wood chips yet but will soon.
    People this video doesn't do justice in showing the amount of smoke this machine puts out. It's truly amazing.
    I'm looking forward to more videos and recipes highlighting this pit. Maybe cold smoke bacon?
    Mike l still haven't received my stickers yet.

    Very nice review, and grill. Thanks. FYI PID controllers in grills and ovens don't "Learn as they go". It's a common myth probably started because a PID controller can learn. But only in "Auto-Tune" mode, this is only done once if the feature is even used. PID controllers in grills and appliances are pre-programmed to follow pre-programmed parameters. They are mainly used to be able to get to a setpoint as fast as possible without overshoot in industrial settings.

    • @jeffpuffenbarger6800
      @jeffpuffenbarger6800 ปีที่แล้ว

      @gosman949 Actually the pellet usage rate is not as high as you might think. Depending on what temp I'm smoking at, the hopper empties very slowly to somewhat slowly. The thing I really like is even if I'm smoking at higher temps like 300 or even 350, there is still a lot of smoke.

    I've had mine for 2 years now. It really is built well and will last forever however it isn't perfect. Lower door gasket falls off; very challenging moving around the yard with big tire kit, it needs turning stoppers or tires bind against the side; needs hinge on pellet hopper cover; needs to have an option for chimney cap for rainy days; needs a pull handle holder to keep in upright position, it just lays on the ground otherwise; you should be able to force update for Fireboard controller or it could happen during a cook, updates happen when they thinks it's best. Lastly, I've tried the wood chips mixed with my lumberjack pellets, never again, it has jammed 3 times, didn't really notice a difference in flavor but definitely would not want this to happen on an overnight cook.

    first off, heck of a review. One of the best, in depth review's of a cooker I have seen. Fantastic job!! That said, I was into pellets for a few years..had GMG, Yoder, and even a Memphis Elite (when they were American made). The Yoder was my favorite of the three I had, but I eventually went back to sticks for bbq (workhorse offset) and and Lump for grilling (Weber Summit Kamado) for more flavor. IF I was ever going to get another pellet grill, it would likely be this one. So many great ideas in this cooker and it looks very easy to cleanup (which can be a pita on other pellet cookers). Bottom line, though, how is the smoke flavor compared to your offset? Noticeable difference, or fairly close? The first time I made a butt on the Memphis, the wife asked where the smoke was?!?! I was crushed:) Thanks again for a great review...very well done

      This is the closest pellet grills come to offset smoke levels. The thing is, a lot of people (yes, even offset users) don’t know the difference between clean and dirty smoke. So, if someone smoke’s up a shoulder with smothered wood or tons of thick cloud smoke and then gets extremely dark color on their food and brags about it, yet the food taste like sour bitter junk and they look past it cause they don’t understand. This cooker produces CONSTANT CLEAN (TBS- Thin Blue Smoke) and the food color and well as flavor is ridiculously good.

      @Bill-N-Carolina ปีที่แล้ว

      Having used both a LSG Pellet and an Offset, there is a definite difference in flavor. BLUF you’re not burning splits so it’s a little different flavor profile in general. The LSG Pellet is probably the best at achieving a ton of pellet smoke flavor though if that’s your thing. I like both but if you want Offset flavor, there’s only one way to get it.

Is this as close as I can get to a stick burner and still sleep in your opinion? About to spend $3600 so looking to know it’s the right call and not the woodwind. Didn’t love the build quality on it was what stopped me. Also what’s the burn rate on a 225 cook for pellets/chips?

      You can’t go wrong with the Woodwind Pro either the smoke flavor on it is completely different than any other pellet grill. If you have the money might as well pay for something like the LSG. If not the WWP is a great alternative choice, good temps, screen, smoke flavor, and good build

    Great review Mike. I've had my "T" brand pellet grill and I have to say this is my target upgrade. We all know you have the LSG Offset smoker too. If you had to compare the quality/taste of the food from either one of these, which would you choose if you could only have one or the other? That wood chip capability seems it might make the end product very similar. Any thoughts on that?
