    I ordered the woodwin pro 36 a month ago and I love it! The smoke flavor it produces out of a pellet grill is in a class of its own! App is very simple and overall I just love it

    Great nuanced presentation and analysis. As a LSG Pellet owner (and owner of 2 other LSG cookers) that Camp Chef is an amazing value and I would be lying if I didn't wish LSG incorporated a way to add wood chunks into the cook like it did (even if in my case I'd just smoke on my offset if I'm going to do that work, that's a great and relatively easy option that was just super smart on CC's part).

    For me, you've really hit the nail on the head. Have been eyeing all kinds of pellet smokers and then learned about the ultimate option being a LoneStar, but I just couldn't bankroll that option... really loved the Pitboss's sear feature, but i needed th make sure i got smoke flavor as much as possible... and a griddle can give me a sear still, so i ordered myself the woodwinpro 36 with the griddle sidekick. Super excited to get it.

      With this particular pellet grill, grilling isn’t its primary focus. It makes a great smoker, but an alright grill…. That’s because there’s no direct flame or sear mode without the sidekick or sear box

    Best bang for your buck is the Masterbuilt Gravity 800/900/1050. When running only wood splits on the MB gravity series, you won't be able to tell the difference between that and an offset. Better yet, the MB is significantly less than both ($650 from Costco, and comes with a pizza oven attachment), it has double wall insulation, it gets up to 700 degrees, and to top it off, you can use it as a hot hold oven since it goes all the way down to 150 degrees.

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The Gravity Series is a great option! I'm still waiting for masterbuilt to answer my texts, emails, and direct messages on Instagram.... apparently selling 1000+ grills for them isn't enough to continue to work with me.

  • @raddbrad1
    @raddbrad1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is it necessary to use a high smoke setting when using the smoker box? In my experience with CC, a high smoke setting ( above 5) results in wide temperature fluctuations ( 20 -30 degrees) because the firebox is smoldering rather than cooking the pellets.

  • @markX-v7f
    @markX-v7f 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I'm stuck in a research rabbit hole. I'm tired of using a smoke tube and a ton of tin foil on my gas grill to emulate a smoker.
    Being an engineer, I've gotten technical in comparing the WW Pro and the Weber Searwood and an stuck between the two. The WW offers more smoke flavor and perhaps more even temperature across the surface while the Weber offers a more hybrid grilling experience and a ton of (fun) accessories. Price comes into the equation as well as already having a gas grill to compliment the pellet grill. And then when it comes to accessories, many say the sidekick is a no-brainer, but is it really? I have a gas grill as well as a cast iron griddle and a butane torch. Is it just convenience then? And how much does a rotisserie actually at to the final product?
    I want to order a grill ASAP so I can practice for an upcoming event, but am torn.

    • @markX-v7f
      @markX-v7f 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And then size, I feel like I don't need the xl/36 - is that a mistake? I'm generally cooking for 2 and have a gas grill if I need more space, but everyone says you'll regret going smaller but it helps with cost.

      I'm in the same boat! However, I'm stuck between the Woodwind, Weber Searwood and the Masterbuilt Gravity system. I'm an engineer too and am stuck in analysis paralysis. Let me know what you did.

    I've been researching pellet grills, trying to find the best for me. I'm a newbie with pellet grill for sure. I was settled on the WW pro but I'm not sure about the height you get from the base grill grate to the lid. I normally do a 20-ish lb turkey at Thanksgiving and want to make sure there is enough headroom in the box. Can you speak to that, or give the measurements? Thanks for your great vidieos.

  • @screaminyj
    @screaminyj 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I think you've hit the nail on the head with your review. I thought long and hard between the LSG and the WWPro, and ultimately ended up getting the WWPro. Would it have been awesome to have the "best" pellet grill? Sure, but economics do matter, and I have been VERY happy with my WWPro. Having the sidekick really is a game changer. I routinely use the sidekick for things like breakfast foods on the flat top, or searing off a steak / prime rib or pork chops. Is it going to do everything as well as single purpose, best in class device for each cooker type? No... but it is a damn good pellet grill, and the smoke box is a game changer. Plus, having the flexibility associated with the sidekick is the sprinkles on the cupcake.
    Am I going to pass the WWPro down to my nephew/niece in 20 years? Heck no. But even though the LSG will probably last that long, I don't have faith that the technology side of it will still be working, or supported, in that time, either. Do I still lust after a LSG? You betcha, and if I had limitless wealth and the outdoor kitchen space to have it, a great flat top, gas grill, pizza oven, and stick burner, then I would have probably gone with that option, but I don't live in that reality, so even though the WWPro makes compromises, I love the darn thing.

    i bought the older Woodwind without the smoke box but augment my cooks with a tube. Price in the UK for the Pro was a bit prohibitive, but getting the older version allowed me the budget to get the sidekick and the griddle, grill and pizza oven. Its great fun and so versatile. My Weber is looking a bit sorry for itself but will re-surface when the sun comes out!

    What tips do you have for using the smoke box? How do avoid dirty smoke as well as over smoking food with it while still imparting the flavor of real hardwood?

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      One simple thing that can impact smoke intensity is simply choosing a the best wood species for the job. For a cleaner burn, you can leave the smoke box butterfly valve cracked open a little bit to add a little bit more fire to the smoke box. The wood or charcoal will burn faster, but will burn cleaner. In many of my cooks, I will set the butterfly valve to about 430 or 5 o’clock.

    Looking to add a pellet smoker to my outdoor kitchen setup. I am shopping between Traeger Ironwood and Camp Chef Woodwind Pro. I have a pizza over, Traeger flatrock, gas grill, and charcoal grill. Primary use would be for seafood and chicken. Red meat only when I have guest over because my family and I don't eat it. Is there a right or wrong choice between the two? Anything that would sway one over the other?

    I mean, if we are being fair, the LSG has the ability to do some of the same things as the WWP. Searing is something the LSG can do over the fire pot, or with the charcoal set up however I will acknowledge the WWP makes it way easier with the side kick and so does the Treagur with its induction cooktop. LSG can cold smoke and do lower holding temps, as well as has a pizza oven insert and 4 probes on the cabinet pellet smoker, all LSGs have 40lb hoppers. Ultimately, the LSG is more versitile as it can use wood chips or pellets or just utilize charcoal. In my mind, the LSG is the best choice but the price! At any rate, I have had a treagure for 6 years, and it has done awesome. I am now saving for the LSG pellet cabinet smoker, and im sure my treagure will still be chugging along until then.

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      While all those points are valid, you didn't mention that the WWPro has the smokebox which is something no other pellet grill has and is a HUGE feature in the market. WWPro can also cold smoke with the smokebox and utilize a fan only mode. LSG does go lower temp for holding. There is not a doubt in my mind that the LSG is a better built smoker.... honestly by far, but we have to remember that $1000 for a grill is pushing it for many people, let alone 2x, 3x, 4x the price. To cover all the features and options you mentioned in your comment, the LSG in 36" would run about $4200 with shipping, whereas the comparable setup with the WWPro is about $2100. Literally half the price. Is the LSG worth double? I actually think so because of the quality and craftsmanship, but at the same time I can't knock the WWPro for offering industry leading features and options at half the price and being more available/attainable for the general public.

    I would love to see a comparison of the WWP and the member's mark 36. You can buy 3 MM36's for the price of 1 WWP without the sidekick. It has a slightly different smoke box but if it works than it might crush the WWP in value.

    Be sure to use LSG's wood chips in the comparison, 50/50 blend or even 40/60. Cant use the WWP with chunks, without using the chips in the LSG. Looking forward to the cook off video, i asked for that months ago when you showed off the LSG for the first time! Lol thanks bud 👍

    Took me a year to figure out some tricks. I rarely need 36 inches, so I reduce the area with pans filled with wood chunks. On both shelfs. To reduce it to 24 inches. So when I cook anything, those chunks dries out & catch smoke flavor. So when I need them, they burn better. My gaskets are all destroyed. Need to replace all of them. I melted all temps probe, but replaced them with full stainless steel 600 F safe probe. From Fireboard. I had to buy jack adaptors because they are not the same size as CampChef. I smoke E V E R Y D A Y. Everything. Pizza. Chicken pie. Moose Meat. Bear Jerky. Bacon. Name it. I will never consider another smoker without a smokebox. BTW. Your smoker looks much newer than mine.

    Both grills have technology, so the cheaper option makes a lot more sense for upgrading after 5 years. There may be a lot lost in trying to go with the lasts 30 years machine.

    • @AndersonsSmokeShow
      @AndersonsSmokeShow  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s a fair point. Some of the cheaper pellet grills only last a couple seasons, whereas that LSG will last much longer. If a person is cooking very often for a crowd… then I’d go LSG all day
