SO proud of you Nano. I know it was tough waiting so long to get your Falcon, getting it inspected/test flown, and finally getting on the hill... but you've transitioned safe and smart. As you gain experience it gets much easier. We're trying to get a scooter tow system back at Manquin. I'm just sorry we couldn't help you more in our first season without Steve, it's been a hard year and we're learning how much work it takes to fling people into the sky. Welcome back! ❤

🥹🥹🥹 thank you for this comment Lisa! I’m so so grateful I was able to purchase this glider from someone I can trust and respect as a pilot. You and the rest of the board members have been doing the actual hard work… putting your personal time and resources into keeping the park going. I thank you so much for all you guys are doing. I really hope that flight lessons can return to the park in the near future. That would not only help the park but also the entire hg community! I’m staying positive and hopeful about that ☺️ See you at the park soon.

Hey, really love how you tell the stories, I've been a pg pilot for over 24 years and hg leaner for the past 2 years. It has been a real challenge for me since I dont have an official instructor (I know that sounds terrible), but all in all I have been able to do sled rides from 280 meter mountain (crashes included), sorry no videos... Keep it up, dont ever quit!!! Free flight its a way of life, I've meet so many people during this time that loves and shares the flying passion. The community is always very welcoming no matter where you go, nothing to prove, just enjoy your time on this earth. BTW, if you ever come to Costa Rica, you know what to do, -daniel.

Thank you so much for this comment🙏 oh my! You are free style learning from other pilot(s) huh?! I get it it’s hard to find a good instructor, and sometimes I imagine good pilots can be as good as some of the instructors… I think only thing you can do to stay safe is to take the conservative approach, like make sure to practice in a super calm condition…. Even though your learning path is not the recommended way, I appreciate your passion and ambition for flying a hang glider!!! I won’t give up! Hope you do the same and keep flying but just please stay safe!!! My goodness!!!

Congratulations on Blue! I am so jealous! I can't wait to get a wing! I really miss Steve and Blue Sky too. It was so much fun going there every weekend (weather permitting). It was also really nice meeting all the other local students (and more advance pilots in the afternoon - like when I met you!). I really miss the local community. I feel so unplugged now!

I know, that hopeless, lost feeling. I could be sad about Steve being gone forever… or try to get back in the air, because that’s what I want. Steve would hate it if I quit because of his death. It was difficult to get to this point. I didn’t share it in this video but before I found Blue, I was talking to this instructor in Canada, almost bought his training glider, but it fell through.. how to get that to me became the biggest hurdle because we had no idea how much US customs was going to charge at the boarder…after that I was in touch with someone is Utah. He was liquidating his hang gilding school’s gears including gliders. I was going to get his Falcon and have it test flown by my pilot friend in west coast but when she opened the glider it was not my size.. so that fell through, too.. I even considered double surface glider not being able to find a used single surface that’s my size that I could afford… even after finding and getting my glider, it was a long road and I still had to figure out how I could get back on the truck. It became a stress at some point. I hated that I was stressing. It shouldn’t become a stress. It is something I love. So I changed my mindset, I stoped fixating on getting back on the truck. My goal is to simply get back in the air. Adjust to this glider from Alpha by taking hill training, take myself to Lookout and get a ton flights there then that should prepare me to fly local mountain sites. Along the way, Manquin FP head tow operator and the president of the park expressed they want me to come back and get back on the truck. If I get rusts off doing hill trainings and regain confidence to contact them. So I did!! and the plan to get back on the truck became reality. Just with anything, if we envision something and draw a realistic plan and head down work towards it, act on it, you are going to make something happen. So, please don’t give up!!! You already started and got hooked, that’s half the battle in my opinion!! You have the power to make all of your flying goals come true!!!

There are many things I enjoy about your videos (which you know because I tell you!). I especially like the overall sense you share about how much is involved in flying, and how integrated you are with the glider. Having never flown myself, I never understood how challenging putting it all together must be. Your videos demonstrate that so well. I really look forward to each new post. Again, thank-you!

Thank you so much🙏 One thing maybe is missing from my contents is the reminder that I’m just like most people, have a normal 8-5 weekday job and home life. Anytime I get to spend hang gliding is a super special time for me. Things got harder this year, collectively, which made my progress in flying harder, too. Life requires attention in so many things… nothing is rarely a quick fix… I’m reminded about that hard reality being in this sport. Hang gliding has become the greatest teacher in my life!

Thanks for sharing your journey with us! Just keep moving forward. Looks to me like you are doing great. I ended up changing my training from paragliding training to paramotor training. There just aren't enough places to fly. I also have a powered hang glider but I don't fly that yet.

And thank YOU for commenting and sharing your situation. I’m a bit surprised to hear that even paragliding is losing flights sites too…I thought they are booming and trending. Only way we can keep the remaining sites open is to get out there and keep flying. I’m not there yet but I want to get out there and help keep the local sites active. Hey, I’m excited to hear you got a hang glider! Hope you start training soon!(no pressure😜)

@@nanoraflyz No, literally there are no flying sites at all. No mountains, not the right terrain. ;-)

Yes, I was wondering what was going on. I can tell you are still in shock of Steve’s passing. So sorry!!
When you fly (as you know) you can’t be distracted. Don’t be sad over his passing. Know he is with you when you fly. He taught you everything you know about flying. Be happy that you have your flying skills because of him.
The next time after you launch, yell out, THANK YOU STEVE!!

Thank you so much. Yes I think that all the time, he is with me whenever I fly. I miss him very much, hg community miss him so much. Moving on is a process. I know I want to continue to fly and I know he’d want me to keep flying too. So I won’t give up. That’s my way of coping I think.

Congratulations on the transition. You’ve got lots of wisdom surrounding you to help you out. You’ve got this. 😎😉
The wait for another lesson is something else. 😕🤪 Also petite and female, I’m just a few lessons in - and am struggling, girl! 😫 I’m fairly sure the frames of the gliders available are too big for me to hold and handle well-or I’m totally missing something (could be both at this point 😅).
I’m really thankful for your videos! It really helps seeing that other petite women can do this! Thank you! 🤍

Ae I love that you are in the early stage of learning, so many struggles I can probably relate to.. but they are all necessary in my opinion! Harder things are now, use that as a measure maybe, it should get easier as you progress… that’s how you know you are getting better at it, again my personal opinion! Keep going, keep flying please!
