    Looks good, A suggestion maybe a cage between you and that storage area so if a crash happens or you need to brake heavily the stuff in the back doesn't become flying projectiles that may injure either of you in the front. Cheers.

    I think it is amazing how much space is wasted with the back seat - no to mention the weight of the back seat. A van that is also a home has to be different and maximizing the storage space and while saving weight is the name of the game. Many thanks for this video and for the ideas incorporated. This is a wonderful solution to space usage.

    The space you have built on the platform of the rear seat seems to be even bigger than the garage you used to have in previous both vans. Amazing space!

    Very nice organization. Now, do you need to add more tinting to the back door windows to keep what you have back there private? Security.

  • @rhombus20
    @rhombus20 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Like the storage idea. It looks nice and sturdy! Just a personal preference, but I would have swapped the sides so that the passenger can lay the seat back if they ever want to. I would imagine that you wanted to keep the tools, essential items on the curb side for ease of access but that was my first thought on the layout. Safe travels.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We did that because if we’re on the side of the road and I need access to tools, I’m not on the traffic side.

    Looks great! You might consider having it powder coated. I had an aluminum insert in a previous car and the aluminum began to oxidize and got all over everything. Once I had it coated it was no longer an issue.

    That’s awesome! We removed our backseat a couple of years ago but our stuff is thrown in there helter skelter. I do strap down our chairs so they don’t bounce around and drive us crazy while we drive. I was worried about the extra weight of a storage system since we only have a 2500. Safe travels and stay well.

    • @Weretherussos

    WTR, nice additional storage , Did you ever get an LED LIGHTBAR as yet ?, & YESI do know just how headlights can be or not as bright as one would like them to be , my TAURUS standard are quite bright, oncoming cars always FLASH, thinking the HIGHBEAMS are on So then I FLASH THEM, oh crap , If I did lots of night trips I could consider upgrading them, but they work for now .

    Nice design. One item I’m thinking about is a way to extend the swing of those rear doors. It would be awesome if I could get them to open a full 90 degrees for loading larger items. May also benefit your situation too. I’ll share if I figure it out.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can’t open them any wider. There is a factory door stop, which you COULD cut off but the result would be the edge of the rear door hitting the front door

    • @wesleyjackson1036

    What is the tool that added the brass inserts to the aluminum plate?

  • @BrianGlendenning
    @BrianGlendenning 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome - I'm going to do something similar for my F150 Supercab (just took the seats out today). Do I understand correctly that the rear is attached with bolts going into the holes that formerly held in the benches, and the front of the platform is supported by legs standing on the floor, but not bolted to it?

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All points on the platform are bolted into the points where the original rear bench was bolted to. Bolts on the rear of the platform and then we made legs that bolt into the front two holes from the bench.

  • @40redfox40
    @40redfox40 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think you should have designed that in reverse...the tool storage side on the driver side...the way you have it now the passenger can’t recline during travel.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did that on purpose because if we're on the side of the road, I don't want to be trying to get to my tools, etc on the traffic side of the vehicle. Also, neither of us reclines in our seat.
