Absolute Legend! Still play “Southbound” when we all set off on holiday to the south coast here in (Sunny/rainy) England!! RIP that incredible voice and Bluesman ❤
So, so good. I was fortunate to see Gregg's solo tour in '73 and really had such a good time, so mellow and jazzy but still an Allman Brother. Thanks for posting.
The ABB would never have made it all through the years without the Tunes and Genius of Gregg Allman and some musicians such as Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Woody, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, and then there was the various incarnations of the Gregg Allman Band !!! Disco nearly collapsed Rock & Roll Blues and Hip Hop Never on my Play Lists nor Hear Lists. There was a Country Singer dude who did the Jed Clampet Bubba Rap years ago. It's the only such tune I ever heard that I did not turn off !!! I have played this tune called, "Queen Of Hearts" and all so many more for Decades onwards . . . as the late "Toy Caldwell & Doug Grey" of the "Marshall Tucker Band" played and sang the tune called, "Ride In Peace", I dedicate that tune to you "Blues Man Gregg Allman" & Duane Allman Butch Trucks, Woody & J. J. Johnson, (RIP Brother's) !!! "Stormy Monday", "It's Not My Cross To Bear", " Whippin' Post", " Ocean Awash The Gunwale", " These Days", " Midnight Rider", "Melissa", "Jessica", "SoulShine", "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", So Many Others !!! 👉👍🆒♥️🌟🌹👈🙏Their Music Lives On FretBro's & FretSis's . . . 👍🆒🎸🤘♥️☺️🌹✌️🍄🇺🇸🙏 "My All Time Favorite Blues Rock Band" DDH 12-8-2023.
Not only was he gifted songwriter, and actually gifted is not strong enough word. He was as you say the great bluesy voice. His heart and his soul bled out in his lyrics. But he was also a master of composition I am so glad he added the horns and the latter days everybody fought him on this but it adds a layer of gravity to the music that otherwise would not have been there Jay is a great saxophonist!
Masterpiece! That beautiful bluesy soulful crawl voice. There will never be another. Will keep his memory alive always playing his beautiful music.🎶🎹🎤🎸🎼🍄🍄🍑🕊️🕊️
Second show for Back to Macon 1st was 12/28 had to break for Fox Theatre show I am thankful for his sweet wife Shannon who was all the difference he was so happy with her
Last 2 times I got to see all of the original Allman Brothers band was July 4 1970 at the Atlanta pop festival and then just a couple months later at NC’s Love Valley pop festival ! I hitchhiked everywhere back then, They used to play at The phantasmagoria in Matthews NC many times, It was a giant barn in the middle of many acres transformed into a nightclub of sorts with a underground bookstore upstairs ,as a young group trying to find their place in the music industry, They loved to play because they always played so much longer than the other groups did ! We always got more for our money when they played, and I come to love their Southern rock style early on, and followed them on the road hitchhiking every chance I could ! I’m 72 years old now all I have is memories, never thought I could live this long partying as hard as I did back then, as they were taken away I cried every time, but cried after Greg passed away the most ! That was the end of the Allman Brothers ! My most favorite band ever to assemble ! Southern rock forever!
@@davidmccall4776 wish I had owned a camera, I didn’t count on living as long as I have, and kinda thought they were gonna be around forever, or at least out live me ! My number was 30, I never thought I’d live past 30 yrs old, and now I’m addicted to oxy going on about 18 yrs , not really proud but amazed that this old body of mine has Survived the punishment the abuse that I’ve run it through !got to see a lot of dam good concerts through out the years, had lots of fun met a lot of good people, now it’s all memories and grandchildren !
This is my favorite song of Greg's . As many great songs as he's written, and this song being on the same album as Midnight Rider, it is still my absolute favorite. The melancholy and mournful tone in his voice . The only other artist that can make me feel this way is Neil Young.
Beautiful SONG it cry's in it please asking to believe from his queen how much he loves her and to be with her for now and forever at Least that's the way it seems to .ME thank you GREG❤ YOU ARE . MISSED 💗💗💗 FOREVER in MY ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A fantastic live rendition of one of dozens of beautiful songs Gregg wrote. I love this one with the Europa style chord progression.
