A lot self righteous comments about these dudes. Ok, they may not be the best, but they've got great timing, killer rhythm and a sweet harmonica player to boot. I know I would be tapping my hands, bopping my head with a cold one if I meandered into this bar and for that night they WOULD BE the best blues band for me.
There are some bands that when you're watching them in a small club or auditorium, you just feel like, for that time, you are in the coolest place on the planet.
Okay I'll bite on your goofy click bait title...they were a better band when Little Charlie was the leader, over 3 decades ago. Seen em at the Yale a number of times. Been a serious Blues fan since the '70's. Real Blues, NOT blues rocker lite. Respectfully, your "BEST" proclamation is embarrassing to any serious blues fan. 🇨🇦
@loilt5091 I was also a fan since the days of Charlie Baty (RIP), plus, I've been a long-time blues fan too. This line-up, with the incredible D'Mar on drums is as good as any before imo. As far as embarrassing to any serious blues fan, perhaps best you speak for yourself! 😊
They're not just a tight band. Little Charlie was a beast on guitar, just like Rick still is on the harp. Saw them at Summerfest in Milwaukee some years back. I couldn't not dance, and I DON'T dance. I so enjoy how Rick's sense of humor shines through the lyrics in so many of their songs - see "My next Ex-Wife," "Don't do It," "Dump that Chump," and a bunchload of others.
One of the hottest bands of NorCal. And with Charlie Beaty driving his grooves, Rick doing what he does... I've seen these guys a few times. They're never off. Jump, Jive and Juice!
Saw Little Charlie and the Nightcats in Albany Western Australia , super quality live blues , it was at a local pub , awesome night, good to see Rick is still around.
You don't have to be a plethora of knowledge to be a blues fan. It's obvious that you dig it and that's all that matters. Some of us have been blessed with exposure myself included. Humbleness is an honor putting someone down shows yourself to be a lesser person. Let your light shine man.
Charlie and the night cats played at my home on my 50th as a favor. I too play the blues and sat in on guitar!I'm 75 now. God created the blues and fender created the guitar 🎸!
Some of the greatest Blues Players you will never hear unless you go and see them locally...We don't gig on the big stage we do it at your Pub Please Support US.
Used to be able to go to Blues festivals & we would Lindy Hop the night away to this stuff - it’s not just the music and the rhythm it’s the whole atmosphere and the joy. Love this band.
Charlie Bates and Rick Estrin🙉🙉🙉 used to watch them in my hometown just about😢😢😢 every weekend and the sadness😢😢😢 I still love the band, but it’ll never be the same without Charlie Bates
Saw these Cats at the Key Palace years ago. Rusty Zinn sat in with'm. One of the best blues shows I have ever seen! Li'l Charley was the lead guitarist. Great show! Great venue!
Charlie retired from the band, Kid Andersen took over lead guitar duty, he also is a record producer and has Grease land Studio I believe in San Jose Ca.
They've been around since Noah played fullback for Jerusalem! They come out to Australia for Bluesfest in 91 from memory. Great band, RIP Little Charlie Baty.
Oh yeah, Paul Butterfield got me playing the Harp.Charlie Musswhite. Kim Wilson. Rod Piazza, Little Walter, and Big Walter Horton .If you Blow the Blues harp .....you're cool.
@@gregholmes1289 That must have been fun. Little Charlie doesn't get enough credit. He had to have been one of the greatest blues guitarists ever. Rick Estrin is great too. Always fun to watch.
@rondorazio4921 Charlie Baty autographed a poster of him and the band for me. I asked if he had guitar pick and he gave his that said Little Charlie on it. I still have it.
There is no best blues band, only players who have their own interpretation of this great genre, you're favorite is the best one, have you been checking out these kids playing the old blue's tunes, a case for reincarnation, I'm 78 I just want to keep on trucking into the light
Is this Charlie form the night cats? seen these dudes many times at Biscuits and Blues . the genuine thang. Blues with soul blues with heart. It don't get no better.
Saw them there as well. Estrin’s a jerk. I was looking at their CD’s with nobody behind me when Estrin without a smile said “Are you gonna buy something or what?” Won’t repeat what I said.
playing bass and keyboards at same time, not easy.D Mar is great great Drummer,Kid is just unbelievable on guitar,he also owns greaseland studio, just about everyone has recorded there. and Rick is just not one of the respected harp players in the world, great songwriter, super nice guy, whose been clean and sober over 40 years, all these guys have paid their dues.
Anyone know of a blue band with the singer who plays a harmonica. Something like Keirnse blues band or kornse blues band. Something like that. Awesome harmonica player. I can't find them anywhere.
I had the pleasure of seeing him at the blues festival in Kentucky, love him

Robert De Niro moonlighting again!
LOL!!!
lol
I clicked on this video thinking I was seeing Robert De Niro singing in a blues band.
Who are they? Rockin in the Blues way for sure
"The Kid" on guitar. I'm waiting for him to put out a serious blues album. Maybe all instrumental, and cranking to compare with Beano.
Modest too!
Is that Kid Anderson on the guitar...?
Yep.

Paul Butterfield Blues Band(with Mike Bloomfield or Elvin Bishop or both of them at the same time) 🕶️
Saw that Butterfield lineup on the same bill with Cream at the original Fillmore in SF, so many decades ago! ✌
