What is your cost + time of building that compared to buying a manufactured extractor? Do you believe its worth it or was this just for something to do?
@@justus5588 it’s hard to say how much it cost me a lot of the materials I used I already had but I went online and priced them and even if you don’t have any of the materials and depending on where and what you purchase them you should be able to build it for under $200.00. Time to build would depend on your skill set and tools you use ( power tools versus hand tools) but I think it only took me a few hours and that included planning. I would say someone who has limited tools and experience should be able to build it in a day. As far as if it worth it I believe it is worth it. If you price a commercial building extractor that you can do layens frames in your looking at about $800.00 to $1,000.00 not including shipping depending on where you purchase it. You can hind them at horizontal hive, miller bee supply and hillco bee supply. I’m getting ready to post a video of this year’s honey extraction using my DIY extractor. @@almostagardener4549 Plan on going the plastic trash can route. Hoping to go 20 gallon size, but not sure if its big enough to hold 2 layers frames, especially if it tapers down as it goes to the bottom of the can. Need to go measure the cans at the store. What is the diagonal size of your frame holder at its widest? Thanks

Can you shoot a video on how you built the exrtractor ? Need to build one for Layens frames also.
I’ll do my best I didn’t take video of the actual build but I can show each component up close and explain how it is made.
I can also give some rough dimensions the final product will depend on your barrel.

Looks good, I think waxing the wood would make cleanup easier.
I thought of that but I didn’t have the wax I’m thinking of doing that next time thanks. It’s still a work in progress.
