Looks great to me! Any changes suggested after a year's use, e.g. adding top & bottom bearings, etc. ? Thx!

This was the only time I had a chance to use the extractor I’m hoping to use it this year to extract Layens and Langstroth frames and will post an update. I have not made any changes to date but think it would help to add bearings to the top and bottom.

Neat design, what's the purpose of the grates in your second design? Don't look like you need them.

Needed something to hold the frames in could have used dowels like I did on the first design or threaded rod but I had the cooler shelves and didn’t have the buy anything so I used what I had.

Very interesting design. Nice job. So during spinning, the weight of the frames and the extractor basket are supported by the 2X4 frame at the bottom, correct? You said it was a 1/2” hole at the bottom so the threaded rod fits in, but the double nuts do not, correct? Did the nuts tear into the wood because of the weight and spinning? Would some sort of bearing concept at the bottom be an improvement so the wood bracket doesn’t wear? Or is the hole at the bottom big enough that the nuts also fit in there and weight is more on the big washer spinning on the flat wood?

Thank you. The 2x4 frame does support the basket. I did just drill a 1/2 inch hole and I’m wanting to upgrade it with a bearing you can see in the video it did ware the wood a little after just doing two frames because the bottom nut just sets on the 2x4. Are you thinking of building one of your own? If you are I’m open to any ideas you might have. I plan to continue to upgrade it over time and as I do so I will share my thoughts.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I plan to build one for next year. Have to think about the bearing idea more. One simple idea could be to glue a big flat washer onto the wood bracket - at least better than the nuts digging into the wood. I liked your basket design vs. some other videos that use the pvc pipes to trap the frame. Thanks again.

Are you spinning this with a variable speed drill motor?

Yes it’s an older craftsman corded variable speed drill.
