    EMS people use a phrase ‘degloving’. It applies to both hands and feet. At speed with your momentum and weight when you put out your unprotected hands the skin begins to grind away, in the right circumstances the skin will peel back from your hands. Degloving them. This injury is common with inappropriate footwear as well. Skin just rips back like you’re peeling some crispy chicken skin. Often the removed skin is too damaged to reuse so you will experience having healthy skin harvested from elsewhere on your body to graft. Often grafts will become yeast infected. Not a pleasant smell, painful and can require a graft do over.

    Crashed once in over forty years of riding. It was totally my fault. I was wearing minimal protection at the time full faced helmet, gloves and leather vest). My hands didn’t get damaged because I tucked them into my chest and kept my arms folded. No idea why I reacted that way but I’m glad I did. Other than that, I had two fractured ribs and road rash on my arms and legs. I thinks that was in 2008. The nurse said I wouldn’t have walked out of the hospital had it not been for my helmet.
    Here’s the point… Since then, I’m in full gear no matter what because of that experience. Too bad I wasn’t smarter back then.

So since them I’ve learned to enjoy my gear, it’s way better spend on good gear for when the unexpected happens I can go through with the minimum damage. I simply can’t imagine riding a motorcycle without gear, but it’s my opinion. Tysm for sharing so much knowledge over n over. God bless u, ride safe n enjoy 🫡

    Glad this video came out as I was debating this a bit. Totally agree with wearing gloves now the only thing is when I first started I had issues with the friction zone-and when I would go ride with gloves it put me more in danger than when I didn’t wear them - I felt more nimble, the bike wouldn’t stall, I didn’t have fatigue from needing to grip it tighter to get the “feeling” right on how much throttle and clutch I was easing out. Now I can wear them, however in those first few formative rides of getting to understand the basics of riding it was more of a hindrance in my development and risk than when I didn’t. As this channel boasts though it took practice using them and I tried several types, costly but also way more costly if I lose my hands lol!

      @@MotoJitsu Haha-you’re right and I am more confident and better off now with the gloves I use especially on highways with crazy debris flying at my knuckles. I always look back introspectively on this same question and admittedly if it weren’t for me risking it at first by not using them in my formative days of understanding just the basics, it was - at least in my experience-more of a liability as it placed me in greater danger than if I did wear them. I had full gear everywhere else it was just the gloves that took adjusting for me, tried all kinds of riding gloves and soon as I would go home to practice with them my feel for the bike went to zero. It just took more practicing in a safe environment with them ON.

    • @garymaclean6903
      @garymaclean6903 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @marcoscramos5117 - When you are learning to ride you're also more likely to fall... People are able to adapt quickly, and wearing gloves should not be such a hindrance to proper control as you've depicted it. If you're riding 'at the edge' where your ability to control the throttle, clutch and front brake is so critical that a layer of pigskin on your palm can mean the difference between dropping your bike, or taking a corner safely or too fast, then maybe you should slow down a bit, rather than choose to remove safety gear because it may slow you down... Practicing releasing the clutch several times before taking your bike on the road or trail will give you a good feel for the friction point, whether you wear gloves or not. Sometimes your impediments are more in your head than in reality...

      Very true it is a very mental thing - in fact that was the greatest hurdle for me was realizing it’s ok to feel so exposed. Funny how that works. Naturally I was also doing this within my own means I wasn’t going to add more risk than I ready was.

    Yup, I'm wearing gloves 100% of the time; have damaged my hands enough through my life.
    Went into Cycle Gear and they helped me find the best-fit for me. Most of the gloves didn't fit my wide palm well, but the employee knew that Sedici gloves tended to fit a bit larger in the palm and he was spot-on, they fit great! Highly recommend going into a store to get gloves that fit you well.

I had the best gloves money can buy. The trauma consultant said if I hadn’t been wearing decent gloves I would have lost my hand. Ten months on I’m still in physiotherapy, have been unable to work , will possibly lose my job. I’m not here to lecture but I’ve been to hell and back. I will ride again as god is judge. Ian.

    Obligation to wear gloves since 2016 in France. Mandatory equipment for riding on public roads: gloves and helmet. In addition, to obtain your motorcycle license, you must take the exam with approved motorcycle shoes or boots. Personally, hot or not, I also wear Kevlar pants, a jacket with a back protector and an airbag. Safety first. Afterwards, skills are just as important as clothes to anticipate the reactions of others and control your machine. As for destiny, unfortunately we do not have the power to influence it, but anyway, we must live ! 😉
