Lego has a gold mine if they capitalize on the Bionicle brand in a few years, when all the childhood fans are grown up and want some nostalgia.
It shouldn't be toys, though. Or maybe it should, since if I had children, I would buy them every single set :)

At this point, he owns every set, combiner, alternate model, mask, krana, kraata, kanoka, canister, and many MOCs that are as close to cannon for characters we'll ever get. Missing items from the real world history, such as statues, displays, banners, style guides, story bibles, unique 'artifacts' (like the pure platinum Kanohi Avohki), and prototypes would truly make his collection a museum, which I would love to see made for this incredible theme. And when it comes to media, this video, BionicleSector01, and the BioMedia Project have gathered a full, digital, and free collection of all Bionicle media.

This was a spectacular run down both audio and visually done. My only, only criticism of this wonderful anthology is the moment addressing the real world inspiration for Bionicle. There wasn't an actual lawsuit, representatives for the Maori people as well as other pacific Islanders reached out to Lego to inform them they were using sacred terms in an offensive manner. Lego responded by drawing up a new code of conduct for inspired properties with input from the concerned parties. Frankly, I think it's a bright point in Bionicle's history and that Maori and Pacific Islander culture deserves respect and credit for inspiring such a spectacular series.

      @ltchugacast131 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

Personally I like this way of telling hero stories. The timeline of bionicle borders on what I would call shared myth or legend rather than a true story. The language, structure, and manor of conveyance feels more like a shifting legend evolving as we uncover more history from unseen dig sites and artifacts. It’s like a secret culture we all got to experience as boys. We recall the adventures of the Toa Metra or Toa Inika with the same reverence you would here an Ancient Greek would speak of Heracles. I just think THAT is how you elevate beyond a simple hero and enter into something entirely different and much more enduring.

As a kid I thought the story of Bionicle was simple. There are good guys Toa, and there are bad guys Rakshi, Vakhi, Visorak or Pirakha. They fight for some special mask or their existence and that's all. I'm 26, I started to buy old Bionicle sets only for collection (my mom gave my old sets to my younger cousins, and the little bastard lost them when moving). I wanted to rewatch Bionicle first 3 movies in Polish dubbing, when I accidentally found this video. Now I see that Bionicle story is the best storyline written to sell toys since Transformers. Is it bloated with all the side adventures and pointless leaps into alternate universes? Yeah. Is the amount of betrayal, mind-control, and fits of blind rage eye-rollingly hilarious? Also yeah. BUT, the depth, consistency, density, and dedication of this universe is BADASS, and goes beyond any other toyline I can think of. The blurred lines of good and evil is an especially unique feat. This franchise deserved more than to be abandoned like this, without a doubt. You've done us a great service by presenting it in the densest form possible (funny as that sounds).

Zoomers would have been the second biggest one, ofc. Still a huge part of fans were them, yes. And many of them would have been six too. But it’s also said that older kids liking stuff often means younger kids will start liking it too. That’s how LEGO marketed their toys. Make it for more grown up kids and the younger siblings will follow suit because what the older kids think is cool is seen as cool by them.

This was honestly fantastic. I am HUGE Lore guy so learning every little thing about this world that I’ve known about for so long is fantastic!
I remember seeing Bionicle a ton growing up, but didn’t really get into it to any major degree until the end with some of the final sets. Why? Because Bionicle started when I was 1 and I wasn’t allowed some of the more “advanced” Lego Sets (as my mother called them) until I was like 8-9. Cause ya know. Small pieces?
So after years of not touching the franchise I am very happy something like this exists for someone like me who wanted to get into the series for a long time, but either missed the whole thing because of age, or possibly found all of this really…really complicated due to ALL the various media. So DuckBricks…thank ya. Greatly. You have earned yourself a loyal subscriber.

I don't know if you read all of these comments, but I wanted to thank you for making these Bionicle lore videos. I was obsessed with Bionicle as a kid, and finding this video reignited a passion that's been dormant for over fifteen years. Since first finding this video several months ago, I've had such an amazing time getting back into the series.

2001 me never realized how in depth this stuff was. honestly a bitt overwhelming but it covered everything in order which my ocd brain needs when tackling new series. was confusing as hell sometimes and i ended up rewatching the series at least twice just to make sure i had it all down more or less. i just got a few sets for xmas and played with them. not being a comic book kid and console kid alot of the story i realize now was kind of walled off from my limited exposure to it. yet now at 28 i feel nostalgic enough to most likely toss money at it, at least a little, and add them to my already large random collection of things from my childhood. it feels right putting my future toa mata lewa next to a battletech timber wolf figure just cause i can.
i also very much appreciate the law/business student vibe i get mixed with the super dork nerdiness my dad_ing style also embraces all while being narrated with enthusiasm and styling of the clone wars narrator. makes me a bit jealous as well honestly, wishing i had kept most of my sets from when i was a kid. im lucky to have 1 whole bookshelf hidden in my room away from kids now that im older and its already kind of full already hahaha. might be time to get a wall shelf too and give all the rock raiders its own shelf, i am a sucker for that color scheme after all.
love the videos, really helped me get a grip on it all. awsome quality. it was especially nice to see the new release every 2 weeks, but please dont burn yourself out. this was alot of stuff to cover, cant even imagine how much time and work it took, not to mention cash too. pardon me french here but fuck yea dude!

The real world is absolutely terrible and gets worse every day
Thank you for bringing this world back to me, and helping me to appreciate parts of it I didn't even realize were parts of it
Thank you for reminding me there used to be something I was always excited to see the next chapter of, and ultimately something I can still be excited to one day see the finale of - even if no one ever actually writes an official ending.

Holycrap - I decided to watch this over the holiday weekend to finally catch up with the lore and completely saddened that Bionicle ended where it did. I feel like this new planet would have been crazy. The Bionicle could have been this epic Elden Ring style game.

After watching segments of this video at a time, over the span of a couple weeks, I must say as a big Bionicle Fan that this is one of the greatest videos I have ever seen! There is so much detail of the lore and it covers everything in a way that is informative, engaging, and entertaining. As someone who still misses Bionicle and continues my passion for this franchise by collecting any Bionicle merch I can get my hands on and cherishing the memories of the stories that make up the legend, from the bottom of my heart I say thank you DuckBricks for this amazing video. Thank you for putting together this grand tour through childhood nostalgia, fantastical wonder, and epic storytelling.

I'm glad Bionicle was part of my childhood, but sad that I couldn't enjoy it more when I was younger since I didn't have any kind of money or the like. Looking back through videos like this feels good.
I always knew there was an epic story to Bionicle, but never knew it went so deep and so dark.
