I only wish Lego would release a line as a “legacy line” or something for those of us who as kids didn’t get to collect all them and could have a chance to get them now that we have “adult money” 😂
If Bionicle has one million fans, I am one of them. If Bionicle has one fan, that is fan is me. If Bionicle has zero fans, that means I have passed away.
I legitimately dont know how we haven’t gotten an open world RPG based off Bionicle where you get to customize your mask and choose your element. Id sink so many hours into a game like that.
@@phoenixinvictus9880not open world but yeah a click and point rpg. I remember the writing in the game being in the bionicle language and having to translate it
As a child without knowledge of English I always checked bionicle web site till giant robot arc. I have all movies as DVD. Once I was more into bionicle than star wars
Seriously I was a collector of Bionicle for a long time and this rabbit hole is deeper than you think. I don't know how detailed Vader's Fortress 2 will go, but at least one name comes to mind for mind blowing revelations to newcomers to Bionicle Lore. Tren Krom is definitely a *BIG* name in the lore.
I honestly think the 4th movie should have been the Ignition arc. If you didn't explore the lore, the jump between the 3rd and 4th movies is enormous. So I would have loved it if Bionicle had films or a tv series dedicated to the 2006-8 story lines.
7:48 This whole sequence is still the absolute coolest piece of storytelling I've seen. The line "you cannot defeat me, for I am nothing" STILL sends chills through me
I need more! Fun fact, from the hordika days, nuju, toa metru of ice, learned to speak rahi, it was his way of making peace with the beast within. Basically vowed to never speak the common language again, even as a turaga, so he always had to have a translator.
Bionicle were my favorite toys as a kid, while I only got one each year for Christmas so unfortunately I did not collect very many. I still vividly remember building them at my Grandma’s kitchen table and imaging the deep lore behind each mask. The video games and movie promos always got me hyped to explore the Island of Mata Nui! Thank you so much for making the best Bionicle lore video I have ever seen!!
Definitely going to be waiting for the next video. I remember reading some of the bionicle comics when i was a kid. Great times. Its awesome to see a full record of the timeline.
You are presenting this in a very well-thought-out way. Addressing everything as it was premiered and weaving the narrative in a better way than LEGO presented. True, their first priority was to sell toys, it was this massive and insane story that kept us all engaged. For your efforts, I wish to dub you... THE CHRONICOLER NUVA! Let this legend ring out and pave the way to bringing back the Great Spirit Mata-Nui!
Can't wait for the next part! Very well written, concise without missing the most important details, which I know can be difficult to parse out in a series this dense.
Learning of the lore has reignited my love and obsession with Bionicle, and I can't wait for part 2. For those that want a more in-depth/slow-paced retelling of the lore, i can reccommend Duckbrick's "Bionicle Retold", it's more than 9h
Brotherhood of Makuta are my favourite part of the lore, as they are so creators and powerful beings. Personal favourites are: -Makuta Krika, -Makuta Icarax -Makuta Miserex Other faction I love the most are the Dark Hunters, for their loyalty and bloody efficiency.
i’m convinced it didn’t take off cause of how confusing the names were. I get it’s a stylistic choice, but half the time i’d have to cycle back in this video just to even know who was what
After you finish the main timeline, can you do some videos on the various cryptids faced thruout? Mostly stuff covered in the books iirc, like one was during the trip where they transported the population to the island. Also- a wonderful idea would be to show the spelling of the name onscreen for a sec or two when you introduce a new [character/entity/location], love to see more.
Small correction, the Exo Toa Suits weren't draining their powers but just prevented them from using their elemental ones - which is what they used to seal the queens in _regular_ protodermis. The fight however caused the cave to collapse and they fell into the pool of _energized_ protodermis
Was it ever established that Teridax replaced Turaga Dume with a robotic duplicate? It would make sense, since there's a point where Dume is speaking with Makuta, and I never understood how that was possible if The Makuta was impersonating him. Great video!
No. Canonically Teridax kidnapped Dume and took his shape for more than a year. Dume talking to the eyes was changed in the novelization to Teridax having a dramatic dialogue with his own reflection.
31 years old, i havent thought about Bionical for years...this shit was my life when i was a kid, i had it all, comics, game, movie, all of the figures for gen 1 .... and seeing them in this video again has got me so nostalgic.
Dude, the story for bionicle is so captivating. I personally like the book time trap because it showcases Vakama's growth not only as a leader but also as a hero.
Its kinda funny how bizarre the names are but when I was growing up with them that's just the way they were to me. Toa Metru are still my favorite, simple but with the movement and the disks were a blast to launch. Loved the comics and movies too. Thanks for this trip down memory lane
Oh HELL YA, Bionicle vids! You did great here, and id absolutley love to see more! Funny thing is, i was prepping to play music while i grind on a game when i seen the vid in my suggestions. 44 minutes later, i realize i had been idle in that game to see stuff that brought me back to my childhood... thank you. If i could like the vid multiple times, i would have... a rare reaction from me btw.
Such an amazing video, I loved bionicles when I was little, especially the films, but I never understood how the timeline worked, now everything makes so much sense, thank you for making this
When I was in 6th grade I won a scholastic fair contest from one of the Bionicle magazines before the movie came out. I had a full Bionical limo pull up to my house that summer with every model of Bionicle, book, magazine, the video game and the movie. My best friend Pj and I spent 3 days straight at my house building them all, bearing the game, watching the movie and reading everything I won. Such an amazing time in my childhood I’ll never forget.
All I remember from bionicle was the red one, green one and blue one because my older brother had them. Never knew these toys had lore behind them, pretty cool
I like the idea that like they defeat evil, evil is actually still underneath the surface. They defeat evil again. Evil is still underneath the surface. They defeat evil, evil is still underneath the surface over and over and over again.
Damn, I was obsessed with this stuff when I was a kid. I had the Mask of Light movie on DVD, and I had all the figures. I mean AAALLL the figures. I dont even know where they all went. I forgot all about this stuff too. Crazy how something so important to you can fade completely after a few years.
I actually did some math recently to figure out how much a Kanoka disk would weigh and found out that not only do they probably weigh around 40 lbs each but they're also probably radioactive. This is terrifying because the matoran, who are explicitly stated to be one of the weakest, most helpless beings in their universe, are able to THROW THESE THINGS LIKE FRISBEES!
I used to collect Bionicles but I never knew anything about the lore. I also had the movies on DVD but I was too young to understand anything of what I was watching other than action, lights, and Bionicle. Now I feel like I might have missed out on a whole other world
This was one of the coolest things a 90s kid could experience. I loved Bionicle so much and its lore with video games and media. Im 30 now and i still have couple of my old 25yr old Bionicles and some custom builds with these parts. 😄
Aaaaaaaaand that just earned a subscriber. Holy sh!#! I knew it was deep but NOT THAT DEEP!!! I will DEFINITELY be waiting for the next! I had all of these when I was a kid, and I won't lie, of course I got duplicates so I could mix and match and make my own version of toa and made many different adventures hahaha. Side note, I built Matoro to be the ba in my adventures 😅
I’ll always remember being a kid and having the Bionicle chapter books and having my grandma read them to me before I went to bed. Imagine a grandma with a southern accent trying to pronounce the names of certain characters and that was my grandma. She also grew to like books and had on occasion got duplicate sets of Bionicles so we could build them together. We lost my grandma back in 2023 and I had completely forgot about these memories until we were cleaning out my grandparents house and I found these old books. Thank you for making this video it really reminded me of my grandma and all the time we spent together.

OH HECK YEAH~ 🥳🥳
FOUR DAYS MAN
Bionicle will never truly die as long as we hold it dear
I only wish Lego would release a line as a “legacy line” or something for those of us who as kids didn’t get to collect all them and could have a chance to get them now that we have “adult money” 😂
It will die, even if we hold it dear. What really matters is that we give it the love it deserves while it still can.
If Bionicle has one million fans, I am one of them. If Bionicle has one fan, that is fan is me. If Bionicle has zero fans, that means I have passed away.
It's a better series than any story line being mad today for kids.
i still ahve all mine and none day i will pass it to my children

There was. It was a browser based game pretty late in the series. Wish I could find it again.

Yep
Not a single original moment.. we live in a simulation fr

Oh man, the nostalgia hitting real hard for this one
Just the idea of the different mediums involved. It's all canon and out of order is literally insane. I followed Bionicle through the Toa Mata
I liked Hawk Toa more
I have come to worship at the shrine to Bionicle, i can't thank you enough for shining a light on this.
