My last trip was solo. went to Paris in November, which was supposed to be a trip for me and my now ex, wasn't going to go but decided to last minute. BEST...DECISION....EVER!!!
I went out there thinking I was going to have a horrible time, that I was going to be bored, that it was going to be one big sob story because I was in the worlds most romantic city...alone. But it was all turned around by meeting someone who made my time out there incredible.
We jumped into a pile of leaves in the gardens of the palace of Versailles :P
You never know what situations you'll find yourself in, so throw caution to the wind and get out there.

Jo can you please do a videos about tips how to travel alone as a female ? I really want to go some places by myself but even in my hometown (Berlin) I often experience scary things, especially at night.
I just got back from a solo trip to NYC and honestly everything they say is TRUE. Like I figured out the train system on my own and I felt like a boss haha. I didn't have to go to places that I didn't want to go and I could buy things and tickets that usually my other friends couldn't afford. There were times were I did feel like, "oh I wanna share this with So and so" or "Omg I wish so and so we're here to see this" but then you realize you're here for you! I definitely recommend it so anyone that wants to travel but sometimes get pushed back into not going due to friends or other things. You experience a trip in a completely different way😋

Y'all actually inspired me to travel solo! I went to New Orleans last month and had a blast!
I agree that it is a really good way to grow as a person. Last month I traveled to San Francisco on my own, and I had never been to the west coast before. Well I was visiting my cousin, so I wasn't completely alone, but she worked from 9-6 (or later). A few years ago, I used to be someone who wouldn't even go to a store alone, and then on this trip I was flying, riding metros, and walking all over the city alone. I actually really enjoyed doing whatever I wanted and exploring without worrying about what other people wanted to do.

Couldn't agree more with what you said. Obviously traveling with a buddy has a lot of advantages, like sharing the price of meals, but I have been on some solo trips and it's equally amazing. I spent a month in Berlin and I ended up being friends with my new roommate. I had the chance to meet his friends and do lots of stuff that locals do but that tourists don't really know about. Because you're traveling alone you kind of feel that anything can be a great opportunity for something unexpected to happen and you don't have to discuss with or answer to anyone, you can just make up your mind and do whatever you want! I definitely recommend it as well :D Amo o canal de vocês!

My friend is currently in Japan alone. I always said I wanted to travel there with someone who knows Japanese so I wouldn't be lost in translation but hearing about her travel plans inspired me! Im sure I could find people online who'd like to hang out
Oliver Long I feel really comfortable around people speaking a different language to me. But I always thought going with someone who knows Japanese means I can do more than just the tourist-y things
You don't need to know Japanese to visit Japan.
I downloaded few apps (especially the Japan Railways) and survived just fine.
I went on a solo trip to Philadelphia on my first flight when I was 16 for a conference. "One of the scariest moments in my life" This taught me to try and find the confidence in me, and made me feel "Fearless" that I could do anything I wanted. If you want to travel I say "Just do it!"

i always travel solo and i have friends i met on trips i talk to till today. I love the freedom of looking at a menu alone and eating what i want. When i get lost i'm more calm when I am alone than with someone else. People also take care of you more when you're alone i went to a resturant and the owner came and sat with me and talked to me about the food how the resturant started it's amazing. I wish more of my friends did this they think i'm crazy...
I'm doing it in 2 weeks and my friends looked at me like a crazy girl for deciding to go on a solo trip. I just felt like meeting new people and getting lost in a new country after a huge weight loss
I love what you said about how you understand how you adapt to things and will be able to figure out new places. I never knew how to put that into words when people asked me if i was scared when i travelled alone.
I loved this video!! Took a solo trip to Ecuador last summer and it was the most empowering thing. First time out of the country and went it alone AND got fluent in Spanish. Love you guys! Damon have fun in Tokyo!

My last several solo trips were all inspired by you two!!! I love that you guys made this video! Traveling alone is so much better because you can do things on your own schedule. You'll learn to enjoy being by yourself more and overall love yourself more. And I haven't taken solo trips outside of the country, but if I did, I'd definitely be going to Japan, specifically Akihabara, the anime district!

I love travelling solo and have had so many amazing and random experiences. I went to Iceland last year and one of the highlights was sharing my lunch with another fellow solo traveller (a Japanese guy) on the south coast overlooking the wild north Atlantic.

You guys inspire me to travel solo. I'm currently an au pair in Ireland and since coming here I have got more independent and confident to go out to places on my own and enjoy it. I am planning on going to Dublin for a few days next week on my own which I am looking forward to. I have learnt a lot about myself and grown as a person through this experience :)

I got to meet people even in the airport and on the plane while I was still in Brazil. Then I arrived in Charlotte, took another plane to Chicago and went to Purdue. My first were Amazing!

I have and its so fun! I've done it twice. I had the same friend to stay with each time (who I was meeting for the first time), but it was still such an experience! I had met all her friends, who I sometimes did activities with w/o her when she was busy and then the second time I went to see her in a diff city when she was in college so I spend A LOT of time by myself wandering the city by alone. Each time was a great experience and I learned so much about myself, cultures and what it's like to be on your own traveling with people you just met! I love it!

Internationally, I only been solo traveling. I been to Uruguay, Argentina, Chile... I find out that as much as I do love to travel with friends, being alone made me be more not only creative, but made me be more curious about things and what to do, what not to do. One great thing is that you don't need to feel comfortable for anyone else, but yourself.
This made me look at traveling alone in a different light. Thanks for that ☺️

YES, I've even had a somewhat negative response about my decision to travel solo before. But I fully agree with all of these statements, I'm not going to let going somewhere alone hold me back from going where I want to go... solo travel is awesome and a wonderful gift to yourself :)
Few days ago, I went for my first ever solo trip. It wasn't a long trip, just for a day, to a place which I've been to with friends and family, but going there myself was the greatest feeling ever. I had a chance to discover the town again, and had time to take photos and admire streets. I love it.
Yes! Yes! Yes!! I just did 45 days traveling Europe and the east coast by myself. So much freedom to do whatever I want. You make friends with new people, learn how to adapt and you get to know yourself so much !

I just came back from a solo trip! I went to 4 cities around Brazil, and it was amazing! I met so many people and made a lot of good friends! And btw that was the best way to improve my english and spanish, and also to not be afraid to speak another language!

Solo trips are the absolute best! They're the perfect time for reconnecting with yourself. Also, you have so much freedom because you don't have to compromise on what you want to do, where you want to go, and what you want to eat!
I traveled alone for spring break this year to Florida. it was the most amazing experience. I traveled over 12 hours by myself in a car. I can't wait to travel solo again.

I totally agree with all your points about solo travel. I went on my first solo trip to Los Angeles last year and my friends thought I was nuts and the first question they asked was 'aren't you scared?' But, I was psyched to do this and I did it! Solo travel is great because you can do what you want when you want it. I went on my second solo trip to NYC last fall and fell in love with the city! So much to do and see and the people are amazing! So friendly! And, tomorrow I am returning to L.A. (solo) to check out employment opportunities because it's been my dream since I was a teen to live there, and why not? Also, I am not a kid, not in my twenties, thirties or forties, even. And I'm an introvert, but trying to bust out of that. Anyway, enjoy your trip Damon, and am looking forward to watching your video blogs! From a solo travelin' fan!
