This is my thing when I stay in a hotel: 1. Make sure you're in close proximity to places. 2. Make sure breakfast is FREE!!!!! 3. Make sure there's at least a fridge..if you can get a half to full kitchen that's even better. Think about it, you may be staying for a few days, which means if you bring food you don't have to go and spend a ton of money.
yes to all of this. Also, I prefer free WiFi in the hotel and parking available ( if I rented a car)

YES TO THE FRIDGE! Stayed in a hotel in DC that didn't have a fridge. Never thought it would be a pain until it didn't have one. Oh, and if the hotel has a free shuttle service, EVEN BETTER. I never had to drive when I stayed in a Seattle hotel last year, I walked or scheduled with their shuttle service. :)
Jen D That's another GREAT IDEA!! The hotel I "almost" worked at had shuttles to take people around the downtown area. It was in a business area, so it wasn't much to do.
+Denisha H. Yes, should be noted if you plan on sight seeing around a city, that could be one thing to consider. If not, no big deal. Not driving saved a lot of stress for me. :)

I sleep with everything closed! Light is cool, but it's cooler when I get to choose when the light is bright! I don't like the curtain open, particularly at night because I don't like the light pollution that filters into the room morphing furniture shadows into demonic spirits on my walls.

I love sleeping in different places no matter if it is fancy or not. But, staying in cheap hotels or places are always better cuz you will always have funny stories to tell afterwards. I love u guys !!!

OK so thanks to you guys I finally did it!!!! just came back last night from my first solo trip to NOLA and I LOVED it! Many locals and a few fellow hostel stayers thought I was crazu, but confessed that they'd love to travel alone themselves some day. I made great connections with ppl who are planning on coming to my home city soon. And now I'm already planning my next trip. You guys have catalyzed something truly exciting in my life!
