As a pc gamer, not being wired was actually a selling point for me. No pairing or charging, no batteries to degrade over time and charge cycles. I also checked all of the usb c cables i had at home and only 1 didn't fit as a replacement. feels great in the hands, software is pretty good, genuinely impressed with this controller.
I thought the same thing. Every once in a while you gotta deal with the wireless controller not pairing property, or just not showing up as a bluteooth device and you gotta update drivers and stuff. My PS4 controller was sort of a nightmare sometimes. Sometimes it worked great, others it would take forever to pair. You say slave to wires, but I see it as freedom from batteries. I absolutely hate charging, so this seems great to me. But to each their own. Nice video 👍
I've always thought this is a terrible argument. There are many arguments against wireless controllers, but this is such a terrible one. They hold a charge from full for tens of hours. It's 1% effort to place your controller on a charging dock when you're done. Also, you can take any wireless controller that you've added/has a rechargeable battery and just always keep it plugged in while you use it. Same thing, from a not charging perspective. Do you also own a corded power drill for the freedom from having to charge batteries? I guarantee that you own a set of wireless headphones for your phone. In both the above examples it is about the convenience. Being tied to a wire might work for your desktop setup, but only in that setup. I game on the couch with my micro-atx tiny PC bracketed on the wall. Using a corded controller is not an option for couch playing. If I want to game in my room at my work desk setup or on my tablet I can launch Moonlight and with 3ms latency play my games with my wireless controller connected from a different room anywhere in the house. Wireless with the option of wired is peak controller.

It’s no doubt that wired reduces battery usage to 0, however there are rechargeable battery packs that last at least a full day in my experience and come in packs of two so you can very easily swap if you keep the backup charging. I’ve used the same set of rechargeables for 4 or 5 years now.
Crazy to me a £50 controller today doesn't have wireless, which even some PS2 controllers had! I use wired mostly too but not having that option is insane
I am COMMPLETELY the opposite on your 2 sticking points. I EXCLUSIVELY use wired controllers, if I cant hardwire my connection then I'm not touching it. There is a noticeable latency difference, and no need to charge or worry about a bettery completely dying. As for the recessed port, yes I get how the tiny size locks you to their cables, however if either my controller or cable breaks I'm screwed anyway. Given a choice between which I'd rather have to replace I''ll chose the cable ANY DAY. The recess stops it being pulled out accidentally, but also acts as a protective measure for the USB port. I've been screaming about the OEM Xbox controllers not having a recessed port for years and I''m GLAD to have it here (though admittedly would be happier if the recess was larger to fit more cables. I was so happy when your issue with this was that it was wired. I’ve been through 2 Razer controls both retailed at £200 each. I’m done dropping silly money for a controller with a years lifespan at best. If this controller does well with Hall effect and feels good, I’ll look at getting a more expensive one.
I owned 2 PS4 pro controllers, 2 PS5, 3 Xbox series controllers all of them developed stick drift in 4-6 months (I play FPS only). Very happy to get first licensed hall effect sticks controller
ive bought a lot of game controllers as well as Fight Stick HOTAS over the years and every single one eventually has so much stick drift that i cant just make the dead zone bigger to fix it and end up having to buy a new controller /HOTAS flight stick. maybe i just play my games way to much but to say that stick drift is not a big issue is kinda shocking to me i wonder why i would have such a different experience with game pads becoming unusable to stick drift compared to Blunty. another thing i find a bit funny is i only buy wired controllers, i guess ive just had one to many controllers go dead at the worst moment a few to many times to buy wireless game controllers anymore. other than those two things i find this review very well done and informative .
Thanks for all of your reviews! I first discovered this channel in 2012 and was completely sucked in. I am going to be purchasing this controller. The wired only doesn't bother me. I play exclusively on PC now and my console just sits in it's box under my desk.
I had some USB-C cables from Amazon and they fit in the recessed hole and worked. The hole looks almost standard size but the tolerances are tight. I have other USB-C cables that are just a TINY bit too big.
All during the Xbox One lifespan I think maybe once I had a controller develop some slight stick drift. Since I’ve had the series X I have had stuck drift develop on every single controller. I don’t know if it’s pure bad luck or just a really poorly put together series x controller but I have gone through about 5+ controllers. My latest one I’ve had for 3-6 months at most so this controller is something I’m going to buy
Been gaming on Xbox since 2001 now own a XSX, XSS, PS5 and Switch OLED. Never once in my life have ever experienced stick drift. I didn’t know it was a thing until TH-cam and Reddit. Own many controllers including two Xbox Series Elite 2 controller no issues at all
I had stick drift on multiple Xbox 360 controllers, but not any any other console's controller. Although for some of the most notorious offenders, like Switch Joycon and PS5 controllers, I would attribute that to how little I use the Joycon or the PS5. The only time I've used my Joycon was for Skyward Sword HD, and I've only played 4 games on my PS5. Also, I'm curious - why a Series X and a Series S?
You should be buying lotto tickets then cause I couldn't even count how many damn controllers I've been through cause of stick drift! It's ridiculous! That or you don't game very much or very often. When you game for 6-12+ hours a day you'll be going through controllers cause of stick drift that or like I said your very lucky and should he buying lotto tickets!
thank you for this in depth review. Like some of the other commenters, I really only game with wired controllers on PC so no deal breaker for me. we all appreciate your level of detail!
Blunty, your controller looks are why I subbed. To me, controllers are a super interesting space with very little innovation sadly. I would love to see a mix of the sunwaytek Syozen Z2's mechanical switches with the hall effects we see here, but with more competent wireless than the Kong2 and leaving behind the awful ergonomics of the 8Bitdo Ultimate. It feels like so many get so close to something great. Anyways, a sincere thank you for the video.
Me personally, I love wired controllers, you just save more money by not buying batteries or buy a spare controller, I'm getting this controller soon and I can't wait to try it for myself
This video couldn't be more funny. I wanted to know of the right bumper would go out in this so watching a review for the controller to see him using footage of the game I wanna use the controller for is funny to me. Cant wait for mh wilds!
I’m totally in the other side of the spectrum. I wish this controller was HARD WIRED. I hate wireless controllers and bateries. And i just wanted a hard wired controller because those usbc connectors can break easily. Feelsbadman
All third party Xbox controllers have cables. Why are we surprised about this? This controller is fantastic value for the money if you're on Xbox. I have one. The sticks are great.
So sad, may the next Elite have it all: touchpad, colored OLED, hall effect, gyro, stop trigger switch, customizable & magnetic button switches and all modular etc.

Wired, white and Xbox certified. Buying one right now. 😍😍
Thanks for the review, will be purchasing. Gone through a few controllers already including an Elite Xbox controller worth $170+ and regular Xbox controllers which are around $50 each. All got stick drift since I play a ton of sports games and call of duty. $45 for this I think it’s totally worth it I actually don’t mind it’s wired I can also use it on my pc
I always play on pc so for me play with cable in my controller is very good and I prefer that to a wireless. Also I never worried about batteries and that stuff.
Thank you for the nice review! I was considering getting at and the negative points for me were not a dealbreaker and even the USB C connector at least for me is a plus, because it prevents the connector from wiggling and therefore prevents it from wearing out (had that happen to multiple USB C connectors and now they have slight contact issues). I was also specifically looking for wired only, because I use it rarely and the I want to avoid having too many batteries around in devices that I barely use. The price is really attractive so I am gonna buy it!
Holy shit your hands are massive. You make that controller look like miniature scale model. But you know what the they say about blokes with big hands?
It's rumoured that MS will start allowing third parties to use Xbox Wireless for controllers soon, so it would be nice to see a wireless version of this one day. If they can make a controller as good as this for such a low price, I'd bet they could make a decent Elite alternative - this is almost that tbf.
This is my favorite Xbox controller I have ever owned period it’s super reliable very comfortable easy to clean and you don’t have to worry about batteries I prefer wired controllers all day everyday it’s how I grew up playing video games in the 90s and I love it.
recessed usb port is for making sure the connection never becomes loose over time as usb connections on wired controllers do after some use. it is actually a good design decision. That said I have no use for a wired controller either, so I fully understand not wanting to use this controller. I am waiting for gameSir to make WIRELESS controllers.
@@meneldil7604trust me bro, your charging port is dirty af, even if you think you cleaned it correctly it's still dirty and still has dust. I swear clean it like a maniac and you won't have the usb c falling out of it again
Funny because it this controller was wireless that would be a deal breaker for me. I absolutely hate having to mess with charging my controller or swapping batteries and worrying about charge discharge cycles and a degrading built in battery.
I bought one of these and I am very happy with it. I DO wish it was wireless but as I am ussually strapped for money I will save the $25 difference between this and the competition. I would have gone with the Gilikit but not only do you have to buy the controller, the wireless dongle is separate. I also want the Xbox Layout for my PC use. I would have gone with the 8bitdo controller but it too also uses the Switch layout and and not what I want.
I love both wired and wireless. Because wireless gives flexibility for me, but there is always battery, wired gives fulltime use but limited flexibility, what i've loved for some time are wired + wireless devices such as my mouse and headphones currently and badly wished to find a hall effect dual sticks + triggers wired + wireless controller u.u one can only dream
I don't exactly thing of the hall effect joysticks as something which is super important because i have a controller which is like 5 years old and has never gotten stick drift. So as long as you take good care of your controllers you probably wont get stick drift.
Pairing issues are a major annoyance. I’ve been considering switching to using a wired connection when playing at my desk so I might go ahead and give this thing a try. The shaft of one of the thumb sticks on my Gulikit KK3 snapped after about 2 months of use so I’ve been using my KK2 Pro again. It’s still a solid controller but I’m not as happy with the face buttons on the KK2 after using the KK3.
Honestly drift isnt something i have had an issue with on first party xbox or playstation controllers. Now joycons.... I have replaced 8 of 10 joycon sticks and warranty replaced 4 more. The kids destroy those things
Why don’t Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo use Hall effect sensors for the triggers and sticks that would be the best thing for literally everyone the costumes get good quality controller that would last pretty much forever and the company’s get a lot of money any more loyal costumers
I was sold when I saw you playing mh rise with the controller Which is the exactly game I'm having issues with my xbox series controller cause *theres so much drift* ;--;
Scrolled some comments and haven't seen anyone say the controller looks small in his MASSIVE hands lol, I thought it was smaller than standard Xbox controller
Playing tens of thousands of hours of xbox, I specifically look for wired controllers. I have left my game and teammates hanging so many times changing out batteries. Never again
I have a question. How good is the durability. I'm currently debating between this and the Easysmx X10 and both seem promising and really good. I want my controller to last me a while.
Personally love wired because so many times my batteries just die on me and I can’t get anymore so im left searching the house or even asking my neighbors it’s ridiculous wired allows for none of that 👍🏼
🤨 Officially licenced BUT wired only!? Obviously a condition imposed by M$ so it doesn't directly compete with their premium options. I love my Kingkong 2 Pro; i got the extra button set so i could switch it to xbox layout
I use my official Xbox controllers with the wire already so this along with the fact it's hall sense and comes with a month of Game Pass sounds like a deal for me.
Ok, just a warning this controller is not for small hands, and it's super light to me. At least it's not comfortable to hold, and I don't have a good grip on it. This controller I will be using for other games that aren't shooters but for shooters it kinda sucks
Microsoft charges a hell of a lot of money in order to use their patented proprietary wireless technology that's why almost all 3rd party devices for Xbox are all wired. I was talking to tech support from another gaming device manufacturer who mainly deals with PC stuff about it and they told me if they wanted to make a headset for Xbox that was wireless they would have to charge almost an extra $100 per headset! So don't count on it lol unless you want to pay an extra $100 for exactly the same thing just for Microsoft to get their cut wired is better and faster anyway.
This review is a year old and there's still no replaceable faceplates. I just want something that matches my keycaps. Well I guess the fact you can remove it, means you can customise it easier, but still.
Just bought this. It's arriving Sunday. I'm sick of my Xbox wireless. Keeps turning off dispite new batteries. I'm going back to wired. I'm at the PC anyway. Hopefully they sell compatible faces plates and cables eventually... my other cheap controller has the same issue with the USB c port..I literally shaved it with sand paper to get it fit lol
Recessed usb connector rant got my like! I had a headset(Astro A40) that had this trouble, it sucks and they shouldn't do it. Great review, I also like your PC Background!
But wireless controllers turn off...you cant watch shows with headphones with them. Consoles do alot more the run games these days. We are well past that, as you put it.
almost perfect, if they using XBOX d-pad and wireless (i'm fine with dongle, dont mind if no bluetooth) it will perfect controller and will but without think again
I had a ps4 controller with stick drift for the entirety of the time those consoles were current gen. It’s just a little annoying when playing certain games that require precise control
You didn't expect that Microsoft would allow a 3rd party to make a far better Xbox controller for less without a catch, did you? Edit: btw, if you want wireless for PC, there's the T4 Cyclone Pro, also from Gamesir. For Xbox you are out of luck unfortunately.
Can anyone who owns this controller tell me if the thumbsticks pop off and can be swapped out like on xbox controllers? I'm hoping to use one of my taller thumbsticks on it. A lot of controllers all accept the same stick caps.
Today, GameSir announced a wireless T4 Cyclone Pro. Would love to see a review from you when that comes out! Like you, I was bummed to discover that the G7 SE is wired only (ty for covering this). I was very ready to buy this and your video grounded me.

I owned 2 PS4 pro controllers, 2 PS5, 3 Xbox series controllers all of them developed stick drift in 4-6 months (I play FPS only). Very happy to get first licensed hall effect sticks controller
I will try this controller as a second option I'm sure that my actual controller is going to develop drift very soon
same, I have razer, elite, scuf, all of them get drift eventually so I'm gonna try this one for $45
This review has likely convinced me. I prefer wired controllers for what I do, I hate worrying for batteries. Great video, thank you.
ive bought a lot of game controllers as well as Fight Stick HOTAS over the years and every single one eventually has so much stick drift that i cant just make the dead zone bigger to fix it and end up having to buy a new controller /HOTAS flight stick. maybe i just play my games way to much but to say that stick drift is not a big issue is kinda shocking to me i wonder why i would have such a different experience with game pads becoming unusable to stick drift compared to Blunty. another thing i find a bit funny is i only buy wired controllers, i guess ive just had one to many controllers go dead at the worst moment a few to many times to buy wireless game controllers anymore. other than those two things i find this review very well done and informative .
I believe the thumb sticks are the same on the PS4/5. My PS5 Kontrol Freeks fit perfectly where my Xbox are too tight.
Side note, you can take off the faceplate and replace the sticks with normal xbox series ones and use xbox kontrolfreeks
I’ve gone through 2 in two years. Which is was too much. The series X controllers suck! I will be buying this.
Only the core elite i had bad drift on, have a full price one still has minimal drift near 2 years of pretty much constant use
thank you for this in depth review.
Anyways, a sincere thank you for the video.
right now my new personal favorite controller is the BEITONG Zeus 2, give it a look. It's a bit expensive but it is almost perfect.
Seems like an easy sell to me. I only use wired controllers with my pc, so this is perfect for me. Thanks for the review!
And it’s got backbuttons too which makes it even better
Me personally, I love wired controllers, you just save more money by not buying batteries or buy a spare controller, I'm getting this controller soon and I can't wait to try it for myself
Great review mane im thinking about getting one of those controller soon 😊
This video couldn't be more funny. I wanted to know of the right bumper would go out in this so watching a review for the controller to see him using footage of the game I wanna use the controller for is funny to me. Cant wait for mh wilds!
I’m totally in the other side of the spectrum. I wish this controller was HARD WIRED. I hate wireless controllers and bateries. And i just wanted a hard wired controller because those usbc connectors can break easily. Feelsbadman
You're so real for using Rise as the game you tested it with.
All third party Xbox controllers have cables. Why are we surprised about this? This controller is fantastic value for the money if you're on Xbox. I have one. The sticks are great.
Im gonna buy it but would be nice 4 paddles instead of 2
I had the same problem with the charger cable on a different controller. I just took a razor and shaved down a cheap charger cord. Works just fine
This is the best review I’ve seen. I’m still going to buy it because it seems like I’ll like it but I’m so glad I know more about the cons.
No trigger stops is a big drawback to me being mainly an FPS player.
I am waiting for gameSir to make WIRELESS controllers.
usb c almost entirely eliminates that problem already
@@lllIlIlIIII you tell that to my phone it fall out all the time
@@meneldil7604trust me bro, your charging port is dirty af, even if you think you cleaned it correctly it's still dirty and still has dust. I swear clean it like a maniac and you won't have the usb c falling out of it again
I came here for a gamepad review, but instead I left thoroughly entertained, laughing my arse off and feeling a tad wiser for the experience! 😂👍
I like the deep hole for the usb c. It wont let you bend your cable. To say its stupid shows some projection on your end
Yeah, I come from C64 era, where wired was only option. I cant go back to wired now unless Im playing my old consoles.
This is a great bang for the buck controller. HE is great also.
this Review is not messing around 👍
I don't exactly thing of the hall effect joysticks as something which is super important because i have a controller which is like 5 years old and has never gotten stick drift. So as long as you take good care of your controllers you probably wont get stick drift.
Pairing issues are a major annoyance. I’ve been considering switching to using a wired connection when playing at my desk so I might go ahead and give this thing a try. The shaft of one of the thumb sticks on my Gulikit KK3 snapped after about 2 months of use so I’ve been using my KK2 Pro again. It’s still a solid controller but I’m not as happy with the face buttons on the KK2 after using the KK3.
thanks for the review
Every controller i haver eve had eventually get stick drift so id say it's a pretty big problem. Also wired are have less latency than wireless.
Hype, exactly what I'm looking for, great review
If this had mouse click triggers. . .
Thanks for t his review and reminding me about the KingKong controllers.
I was sold when I saw you playing mh rise with the controller
Which is the exactly game I'm having issues with my xbox series controller cause *theres so much drift* ;--;
Maybe you can take the faceplate off to paint it yourself. That’s pretty cool I think
That title, said Oceangate “pilot” 😂😂😂
Personally love wired because so many times my batteries just die on me and I can’t get anymore so im left searching the house or even asking my neighbors it’s ridiculous wired allows for none of that 👍🏼
🤨 Officially licenced BUT wired only!? Obviously a condition imposed by M$ so it doesn't directly compete with their premium options. I love my Kingkong 2 Pro; i got the extra button set so i could switch it to xbox layout
Not true. Moga has a controller that is fully wireless certified. The more reasonable explanation is that it's to save money
They need to make a gamesir with the buttons from the G7 and the rubber grips
Awesome honest review, thank you for calling them out on that consumer unfriendly practice.
Hoped it would be the wire! I love wired, no battle hassle. Looks like a controller with precisely what I want!
You sold me, I bought it. I wanted a wired controller because the lag on wireless controllers bothers me.
Thumbs up for USB -c rant haha
I use my official Xbox controllers with the wire already so this along with the fact it's hall sense and comes with a month of Game Pass sounds like a deal for me.
I don’t use batteries and I don’t use wireless controller or wireless headsets period,,,,, Wire me
Ok, just a warning this controller is not for small hands, and it's super light to me. At least it's not comfortable to hold, and I don't have a good grip on it. This controller I will be using for other games that aren't shooters but for shooters it kinda sucks
If they add wireless and gyroscope, I would buy them without hesitation (though I doubt any MS licensed controller would have those features)
I can see an incoming wireless version for a mark up lol.
I believe this is what you want. Also, it says GameSir is the seller, so I think these are Official.
What I hate thats holding me back from buying one of these is the fact it only comes in white
Dang now me to I need At least black all my other controllers are black
Well then think again…. lol they released new colors recently
i would genuinely consider getting this for my pc just to have a controller for different games
Can you re map the buttons and whatnot on an Xbox or you need a pc and the software for that?
Then buy a regular wireless controller duh
Good review! What game were u playing 0_0
Monster hunter
almost perfect, if they using XBOX d-pad and wireless (i'm fine with dongle, dont mind if no bluetooth)
it will perfect controller and will but without think again
ngl, Ive bought at least 5 ps4 controllers, 3 xbox 360 controllers, 2 xbox one controllers and, 2 ps5 controllers. will see how long this one lasts
The G7 is better than the SE. The clicky D-pad and Face buttons sre a game changer for platformers and fighting games. It's only $37. It's a steal
I love everything about this controller
I'm curious if the stick caps are the exact same dimensions as on official xbox controller? This so I can use my thumbcaps on them.
They are larger, you need Ps5 ones to fit xbox g7 se
@@XxAtomic646xX Thanks very much for the information!
currently using gamesir's t4 kaleid, it is spectacular on pc
Can anyone who owns this controller tell me if the thumbsticks pop off and can be swapped out like on xbox controllers? I'm hoping to use one of my taller thumbsticks on it. A lot of controllers all accept the same stick caps.
No trigger stops is the biggest L here. Even power A has trigger stops on its similar controller..
Today, GameSir announced a wireless T4 Cyclone Pro. Would love to see a review from you when that comes out! Like you, I was bummed to discover that the G7 SE is wired only (ty for covering this). I was very ready to buy this and your video grounded me.
