So good to be back in the Halls and fighting with undead beastmen; also love the thumbnail! The whole session was fun but David's caution in dealing with the evil head made me laugh so hard. It was almost like he cared about Upior. I found the discussion about retainers interesting and the idea that they were XP sponges. Doing some quick back of the envelope calculations the haul from the ghast/witchdoctors and Deino's secret room is about 16,275 GP/XP divided by 6 (4 full shares and 4 1/2 NPC shares) or 2,712XP from treasure and there was another 3,328XP from FOE (most of which came from Lisbeth and Baurios' abilities/actions) The trade off of 1,360 XP from the treasure (difference between 4 full shares and 6 shares) vs. 2,120 from FOE (Baurios and Lisbeth earned 8,470 of the FOE XP) that would not have been earned seem reasonable to me. Also, employing the retainers (maybe not Lisbeth) to check for traps/open secret doors trapped by witches etc. could result is a few less shares having to be shared.... As always, thank you for sharing the table with us!
It's nice to be back in Arden Vul and damn, what a haul! Btw Lisabeth is the most powerful Spellcaster in the party now, so, please don't leave her behind with the rest of the retainers haha
Way to go AV Club! I love the scribing ruling, it makes acquiring and researching spells more of a reasonable task, and plus we got to see Decompose in action again. Big finds and accomplishments this session, well-earned
I love the hoard episodes even though the logistics discussion can drag on a bit and often are pointless ultimately. But finding and messing with cool stuff is the best.
Another great episode. 1. I believe that regenda est is technically rendered "should rule" or "ought to rule" 2. I was hoping that one of the scrolls in the witch doctor hoard would have been cure blindness. hee hee
Re 1: Regenda is the future passive participle of rego (to rule, indeed), in this case, singular feminine. "Regenda est" therefore means "she/it must be ruled". A famous example of the future passive participle is "delenda est", "she/it must be destroyed": Cato the Elder used to end all of his public speeches, no matter the subject, with "ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam", "moreover, I advise that Carthage must be destroyed". His advice prevailed.
@@Vodrilus Exactly right! The construction is commonly referred to as the passive periphrastic! We can render it into the active in order to be less awkward in English.
Such a great episode and loved all the laughter. Y’all were having such a good time and we laughed so much! Some of the many hilarious moments….Mike upon realizing he can’t reattempt a turning on a gast: “Somebody else do something, I have no idea.” Matt: “Does the chest or Upior detect with more evil?” Jon: “If anyone else asks me about alignment I’m going to drop kick them.” …..And the coldest statements of them all….Do we want to resurrect Skleros?? Ted: “No.” David: “This is not a game of emotions.” 🤣
Back home in the halls of Arden Vul!

"Let's negotiate..." 🤣
all too often adventurers overlook this simple way to engage with people they meet in the dungeon. why fight when you can make friends?
Perfect! I have the day off, got my espresso and a new AV episode!
What more could a guy possibly want!??

Avaricios would have--he'd done nothing but good for them.
Wulfheard-- hell no, he'd just want his stuff back.
@@BeatrixDad This was Mort's thinking too
Its concentrated evil!
Don't touch it!
Witches going to need stiches cause we hurt them to take their riches?
Poor Mike. Waiting for his turn during combat. Looks like he has played too many inferior combat systems lately.
