Personal headcanon rn is Leetu will become the source of the Grey Knights’ geneseed. They always said it was derived from the Emperor himself, but ofc that is impossible. However, Leetu was made before the Primarchs, presumably using a certain amount of the Emperor/Erda’s genetic material. If Leetu were their ‘Primarch’ that old claim would actually be half-true.
My headcanon is that the Grey Knights were created using the Sangprimus Portum, the device that contains the pure genetic material of every Primarch, that was returned to Terra by Omegon (or the original Alpharius?) after the Raven Guard were left with the contaminated sample. It should be a unique blend because it provides the Grey Knights with both heightened psychic powers and heightened protection against the Warp. Neither were demonstrated by Leetu prominently. My impression is that his gene-seed was more like a pure Astartes template without any positive or negative traits whatsoever or any distinctive features. Just a warrior.

Such a proto-Primarch had, in fact, existed. I don't remember the details, but he was the first Angel with absolutely ludicrous psychic power. IIRC he was created shortly after the Emps travelled to Molech and bargained for arcane lore with the Chaos Gods. Unfortunately, he proved to be too mentally unstable and turned against humanity in some way, so IIRC the Emps disposed of him and decided to give each of the twenty actual Primarchs their own roles, strengths and weaknesses, and dialed down their psychic presences. His story echoes that of the Thunder Warriors and Astartes -- seems like the Emps likes to begin his grand projects by making his creations as OP as possible, then finds ways to make them stable and sustainable.
@@p_serdiuk The Incident you speak of is the Razing of Karis Cephalon, where The Emperor and The Angel cornered a powerful daemon and imprisoned it, but The Angel turned on the populace and deemed them unworthy of The Emperor's love because of the presence of the daemon. Instead of just destroying the city that the daemon was found in, Coranis, The Angel razed the entire planet to ashes. The Angel hasn't been disposed of, The Emperor ensured that The Angel was truly unkillable. Literally. In all facets, The Angel cannot be harmed, even by The Emperor Himself. Attempting to physically harm the angel only slows it, and all psychic attacks are met with an equal or greater psychic backlash. The Angel, as of now, is in the possession of the Inquisition after a massive saga of Radical and Puritan Inquisition agents fighting over the coffin with imprisoned The Angel. The Angel, before it's final entrapment (being tricked by Inquisition agents to go back into it's coffin to be re-trapped), realized that all humans in one way or another *will* turn to Chaos, and because of this it deemed all of humanity worthy of annihilation. This means that, if The Angel is ever released again, there will be no chance of stopping it from going across the galaxy and wiping all human life out of existence.
I like to think that Letu was the first Erda and Astartes ever made but him leaving with Erda was circumstance and their relationship formed after she realized the Big E was going to kill him. He wasn’t raised there in the palace but spent time in specific areas for training and observation. Probably from a Custodes since that was all the Big E had that was comparable at the time. I don’t think the Emp had much to do with Letu. He didn’t want to be attached and saw him as the prototype. A lone wolf. Something Astartes shouldn’t be. Also him not having any loyalty beyond Erda probably bothered the E. Not only did Letu have no “Special Sauce” he simply wasn’t interested in the greater game not that it mattered he was just a pawn. What does make Letu so special is his unique training, upbringing from Erda, and probably gene seed of the Emp that resulted in a good but ultimately inferior product a Primarch could proginate. That’s why Letu isn’t some Remus Ventanus or Sharowkyn etc. Letu spurred the project forward. Big E told Erda Letu was shit, they needed something more. Erda, pissed since she gave so much to develop Letu, fled. Having had the correct blueprint but realizing he can’t create the warriors he wants from his own flesh: e goes to Mollech for the bargain of the decade. She probably said something like “Letu is kind, gentle, loving, and brave, he loves culture, art, and yes even warfare. He is everything we want humanity to become!” The Big E-“ for humanity to take its rightful place in this galaxy, Erda, there is room for only one love in the heart of our soldiers: me. I cannot expect this crusade to succeed if my soldiers are left pondering their own existence. You swing the pendulum too far, Erda. You made a boy into a powerful force of man. But you did not make a space marine.” So while he’s on Mollech her and Letu escape. The Big E after stepping out of the portal, already knows they have fled and where they are. His powers having grown so much. But he has what he wants and is content to let Erda have a measure of peace with “her perfect space marine”
Headcanon: to the Emperor, Letu was a prototype to be stepped over and improved upon by further developments, to Erda Leetu was a unique creation and a being that had no overbearing grand purpose in life, as his goal was simply to survive the Astartes creation process, thus he was free to simply protect humanity as the ultimate human warrior.
Do you think it's possible that Le2 is actually a biological child of Neoth and Erda? Not like they're his parents in the sense that they're the parents of the primarchs, but actual birth parents? That could even explain the him being a "gift" from the emporer to Erda. Maybe she wanted a baby! Lol
If you know about Sensei, you would know that they are real normal son of Emperor, and they have good psyker ability like father, but LE2 if had born by 2 most powerful psyker why he dont have any Psyker ability, just dont make sense. So LE2 just a gene modify son to test how space marine will work and that it😃
@@narusawa74 There were multiple Psychers in Johns Group, they would have noticed. Maybe he´s a Perpetual? Since he will be perpetualy the First Marine
Countless hours of lore videos, many different authors, and this one is probably my favorite :) Thank You very much for all the fun! I'm really fascinated by the underlying themes, archetypes and deep psychological truths coded in those stories. Hope one day someone will analyse those.
good vid man. you have a new subscriber. I was a painter for GW back in the old days (late 1990's) - did some box art and store models an some that were in white dwarf. I still am the proud owner of a whole bunch of old LE models - including a bunch of original all lead marines. Going to have to dig through them to see if I have an le2 in there - I don't think so unfortunately but I do have a lot of the old ones. Let me put it this way.. my dark angels army is so old that I had to repaint them when the official colour scheme changed from black to green ;) It was lovely to see some of the old artwork that drew me to this hobby when I was a teen!
One of my favorite things about warhammer is all the familial connection between the characters. Leetu is totally a runt older brother of the primarchs. And the custodes are basically the step brothers of the primarchs.
To have big E's baby mama raising you, you have the best upbringing as possible as far as a moral compass. He went to defend the palace, if he didn't go Erebus would have killed him to. Love your content. Also Leetu reminds me of WALL-E in a way that sad but free now to be himself fully. Ol never l liked his sleazy come ons and takes cerene off the crashing ship of Lorgar. I believe she showed Lorgar to meet fulgrim...cabal BS. The blessed lady was now a perpetual after erebus brought her back from 2 years of demonic torture in the warp. Argal tal was killed because his love for "that whore priestess".
I think that Leetu being made was a pure act of love between the Emperor and Erda. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was their son. The Emperor did love Erda and probably still does even though she is gone.
From What I'm seeing, He's not a Space Marine, but a Proto-Primarch. am I wrong? Even Calling him the Emperor's Son, means he's not a son or nephew of the Primarch, but their OLDEST Brother.
I think you’re wrong only because the angel was the proto-primarch. Granted both of them could be tests and “brothers” of each other that branched out other ways like the leetu name suggests. He strikes me more like the the first space marine with Lion/grey knight tier gear. Even the proto primarch was more powerful than leetu but basemarine weren’t.
@@YakubTheFathertbf the angel is like emperor level I beleive? Not current emperor but when he was created he was equal to the emperor. Only reason he was locked away is he went fucking insane. Not 100% sure that's right though

This has blown my mind, I may have to watch it a few times to take in everything, I'm working my way through Horus Heresy, but this totally changes what I thought about what happened before that series, great video. Liked and Subbed :)
"Erda" is the Anglo-Saxon word that eventually became the English word "Earth". In other words, he might as well say, my father was the Emperor, my mother was Terra.
This will sound weird but.. Your voice gave me the most intense nostalgia I've felt in a while, you sound like the radio when I was a child, on a road trip with my grandfather in his old xr3 escort. I got an overwhelming sense of comfort from this video. I thank you for that.
To your point at around 1:18:00 as to how Leetu survived in the realm of chaos that close to Khorne, I think because he had so much of the emperor's blood all over him from trying to free him that that might have had something to do with it in shielding him somehow
If you did a summary of the entire siege of terra the way you did emperor vs horus showdown in this, I bet it would get a million views. Very well done!
Ah, just in time for breakfast. I think I'll have some Khorneflakes today. Wall explodes inward and Khornate Randy Savage walks in "OH Yeah! Milk for the Khorneflakes! Spoons for the Skullbowl!"
As a Guard player of old I appreciate the changes made to lore but honestly I am saddened at the removal of the Guardsman from the defeat of Horus. I get that Space Marines are the flagship of 40K but they are everywhere and the idea that a normal unaugmented human had even a tiny part in Horus’ downfall was always so meaningful to us and the loss of it is sad and in my mind unnecessary
All this story woven around this "first space marine" is truly fantastic from a meta story point of view. This is the marine that started everything, really, all those years a go, and so, having LE2 become the founding piece of the current 40k setting, the Horus Heresy, the Space Marines, the Emperor upon the Golden Throne, the Emperor's Tarot, all of it - it's a beautiful tribute to this model and its creators. And much like the trivia of the model, this important truth is all shrouded from the common knowledge. Few know of LE2, fewer still - who created it, but all know what was made possible and what endures because of it. This is a truly beautiful work of meta fiction, cementing the very nature of creation in it. Magnificent work by Dan Abnett here.
As someone who keeps trying to get into Warhammer....the fact that there are multiple series with dozens of books each is just beyond astounding. I don't understand how its even possible
I really love that you add some out of universe information (when stuff was published and the like). That's something I always want to learn about in addition to in universe lore.
I, too feel that the tragedy and nobility of Sanguineous' sacrifice should never be undermined by his return to the setting, no matter how much we may all *think* that we desire such an event. That being said-- I have also the repeatedly pondered the possiblity that Horus effectively, gradually sucked the souls out of Sanguineous and the Emperor with his attacks- and the potential that their souls may then have been freed upon Horus' death. It's an exceedingly unlikely possibility, but it always crosses my mind when revisiting the final confrontation of the Heresy. Sanguineous would be soulless and extra-dead during the battle, as we understood him to be, but could then have had his soul let loose (and- as theorized by others- potentially have it fragmented into a variety of "mini-souls"), to wander the warp following the Warmaster's comprehensive obliteration-- mind, body, and soul. But hey, that's just some of this amateur-lore-enthusiast's more outlandish speculation.
I loved the homage to LE 2 taking it back to where it all started. To have a low key MVP role where he reconciles he can't do much, failed Erda but comes in clutch several times regardless.
Easily one of your best vids and a fantastic different perspective from LE2’s viewpoint, love his potential for future Black Library publications and love the idea of him bringing vengeance to Erebus, he needs a bloody spectacular ending! Another viewpoint, LE2 is uncorrupted and essentially pure, could he be the host for the Enperor’s return? We have it down and he had it that he was there to protect his Mother Erda, but what if, SHE was tasked by the Emperor to fool him into believing that and in reality, SHE was protecting the safeguard vessel for the Emperor to inhabit? He is the second and perhaps LE1 is the failure, the dark hearted failure imbued with Chaos that had to be banished or sealed away a d perhaps the second and 12th legions swore loyalty to him and lost after a spectacular war and were scrubbed from records as a consequence and LE2 is the later success, the one to save humanity in its darkest hour and help the return of the Emperor to life? Just a thought, but whatever the case, he still has a giant role to play in the lore and we’re all looking forward to what comes next in his narrative and your reading 👍✅
My idea is that it's very, very, VERY difficult to actually permanently destroy a soul... The visions of Sanguinius-like entities are actually those of Sanguinius - parts of him - but also echoes from other times entirely. The soul of Sanguinius was broken and severed to such an extent that in reality it looks like it never had existed - but if this was a permanent annihilation, Sanguinius would be unpersoned. Nobody would even remember him. The very concept of Sanguinius would have been retroactively removed from existence. There was an attempt, but not even Chaos is powerful enough to do this.
I think you confuse material causality with Warp shenanigans. Horus was obliterated, and perhaps there are parts of the Warp which are tied to timelines where he had never even existed. But his name is still known. It's impossible to retroactively erase things and events completely from material reality using the Warp, even though it allows time travel to a degree. Warhammer isn't a universe about massive time paradoxes. Sanguinius' echo certainly exists in the Warp, the Sanguinor is imbued with a part of him, and both Dante and Mephiston were visited by this echo. But I'd say that it is too weak to ever reincarnate Sanguinius even using a perfect clone. I think that fighting Horus at full power after everything Sanguinius did at the Eternity Gate before that had quite literally drained his spirit too much. Unlike, say, Magnus who was split apart as a result of the Battle of Prospero, of whom only a piece remains that ascended as a Daemon Primarch, or, say, Ferrus Manus, whose psyche was shattered by the betrayal at Isstvan and his duel with formerly beloved Fulgrim, and who, perhaps, is simply no longer willing to be involved with the material world at all and desires eternal peace at the Emperor's side, Sanguinius' essence is more like "too little butter spread over too much bread", as Bilbo described his own state in the Lord of the Rings after bearing the soul-draining One Ring for too many years.
@@p_serdiuk Since blood angels are the embodiment of vampires, this makes the idea complete for sanguinius, since vampires are either deformed souls or soulless, right ?

Leetu took me by surprise, he was cool and interesting but it was on TEaTD vol3 he became my pookie, i felt so bad for him, he somehow felt so innocent, so naive when his world was shattered, with the revelation of Erda's death and Dan hammering hard "you failed your promises". I felt so bad for him, like i wanted to hug him and tell everything was going to be okay, that it wasn't his fault, i love Leetu so much. He's the only reason i pay attention to the Imperium nowdays and i'm hoping he returns during the scouring.

This means that, if The Angel is ever released again, there will be no chance of stopping it from going across the galaxy and wiping all human life out of existence.
@@supershot9729No. Primarchs are explicitly said to have numerous organs that even the apothecaries cannot discover the purpose of.
He is everything we want humanity to become!”
The Big E-“ for humanity to take its rightful place in this galaxy, Erda, there is room for only one love in the heart of our soldiers: me. I cannot expect this crusade to succeed if my soldiers are left pondering their own existence. You swing the pendulum too far, Erda. You made a boy into a powerful force of man. But you did not make a space marine.”
So while he’s on Mollech her and Letu escape.
Lol
Perhaps, though his love of drawing is suggested to come from his "original upbringing"
If you know about Sensei, you would know that they are real normal son of Emperor, and they have good psyker ability like father, but LE2 if had born by 2 most powerful psyker why he dont have any Psyker ability, just dont make sense. So LE2 just a gene modify son to test how space marine will work and that it😃
@@Administrator... Perhaps he got a lot more in the form of warp resistance there, an ability that essentially makes him incorruptible by chaos there.
@@AzraelThanatosdo we know if he was a blank?

Damn....I could say this is the best narration I've ever heard...the accent, the vibe itself....is awesome... you're a great narrator sir
I concur.
Countless hours of lore videos, many different authors, and this one is probably my favorite :) Thank You very much for all the fun!
I'm really fascinated by the underlying themes, archetypes and deep psychological truths coded in those stories. Hope one day someone will analyse those.
Thank you so much!
“You have killed my son, why?” Not talking to Horus while looking at him was crazy
1:33:57 - Those words, in that specific order, in that specific accent made me laugh so hard, 10/10
Glad to have you back, Sandman!
MAN EMPEROR
how's the throne
Make Alfabusa finish your TTS series dear Manperor by using a warp fart.
Thanks for quality content as always! Have a nice day dude :)
Thank you so much man! You're a rock
Looks like the Omissiah has spoken through the TH-cam algorithm again. Always glad to find a quality 40k lore channel.
I like how his armor is described exactly as a pewter 28mm from that era.
good vid man. you have a new subscriber.
Let me put it this way.. my dark angels army is so old that I had to repaint them when the official colour scheme changed from black to green ;)
It was lovely to see some of the old artwork that drew me to this hobby when I was a teen!
Wow that's incredible man. I always liked the old green and yellow scheme as well. Always fancied doing a squad like that
One of my favorite things about warhammer is all the familial connection between the characters. Leetu is totally a runt older brother of the primarchs. And the custodes are basically the step brothers of the primarchs.
Man big E be getting around
Fantastic video, it’s brilliant your posting again. You content truly is missed when you don’t post !
You’re absolutely fantastic! Take care of yourself above all, and thank you for your masterful contributions
As always great work buddy. Really loved this and i hope to hear more from Leetu. Such an interesting character
I think this is your best content you've produced so far...just outstanding
"He did not have a primarch, but a mother" oh that was such a goodie!
Speak fucking english
Erda was actually autistic tbh.
This was an amazing story! Love your videos and how you tell the stories. Hope all is well with you brother!
I cant ficking believe John Gramaticus is a real character.
I just want Leetu to hunt down Erebus "This is for my mother!"
I feel like the line of "people who wants to take revenge on Erebus" is perpetually expanding.
37:23 that's great oration dude. You reminded me of baldemort there. 😂❤
I think that Leetu being made was a pure act of love between the Emperor and Erda. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he was their son. The Emperor did love Erda and probably still does even though she is gone.
Nobody cares what you think, time to shut up.
@@an-average-box that’s never been clear to me either because they hype him up like that but were able to take him down pretty easily and quickly when they figured out how. It’s hard to tell what’s power creep or boastful lies in 40K.
John warhammer: 9:13 the first war master
Well researched, ever more spectacularly delivered. Fantastic foray into an new lore I hadn't seen yet. Thank you.
Best Lore channel hands down.
This has blown my mind, I may have to watch it a few times to take in everything, I'm working my way through Horus Heresy, but this totally changes what I thought about what happened before that series, great video. Liked and Subbed :)
you have a great voice and speech pattern. i loved listening to this.
Great to have you back. Take care of yourself
Well thanks for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed it
1:11 They use his pose in the box art for HH!
Who else wants a Leetu and Alpha Primus "buddy cop" series?
thank you sir ... the longer the better :) .. this will be played a LOT...
Sandman Max effort this video is insanely well made, cheers!!
To your point at around 1:18:00 as to how Leetu survived in the realm of chaos that close to Khorne, I think because he had so much of the emperor's blood all over him from trying to free him that that might have had something to do with it in shielding him somehow
Thats a really cool idea. I was thinking about him being covered in Big E's Blood
I have been waiting for this video from you! I love your content and the way you deliver it!
1:18:06 so he gets thrown at khornes foot, khorne is probably thinking "who the hell are you"
Great video, Sandman. Well worth the wait, thank you! 🎉 sending you some positive energy ❤
You have made a lot of things make sense that I was confused about.
Thank you so much for this - I really enjoyed it. It’s a fantastic aspect of the story, and you’re a great storyteller, voices and all.
If you did a summary of the entire siege of terra the way you did emperor vs horus showdown in this, I bet it would get a million views. Very well done!
Dude, these videos are always ridiculously good
Ah, just in time for breakfast. I think I'll have some Khorneflakes today. Wall explodes inward and Khornate Randy Savage walks in "OH Yeah! Milk for the Khorneflakes! Spoons for the Skullbowl!"
I didn't know I NEEDED a Khornite Macho Man, but here I am about to figure out a way. 🤣

Glad you enjoyed it! Welcome! This is my beginners video if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/8jhGnWxFdfE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=G1LaecuoLiUTq8uB
Welcome in, brother
As a Guard player of old I appreciate the changes made to lore but honestly I am saddened at the removal of the Guardsman from the defeat of Horus. I get that Space Marines are the flagship of 40K but they are everywhere and the idea that a normal unaugmented human had even a tiny part in Horus’ downfall was always so meaningful to us and the loss of it is sad and in my mind unnecessary
It was a terrible decision, by plebs who don't even partake in their own franchise.
Bro, your voice is amazing. Makes the content so much better. Keep that up!
Thanks! Will do!
17:21 "...a word of power...". FUS, RO or DAH? or, FUS RO DAH!!!!
As promised, here it is! Thanks, I know what I'm painting to today.
Ol Person's name always hits my immersion like a shovel to the face.
Your channel is def my favorite.
As someone who keeps trying to get into Warhammer....the fact that there are multiple series with dozens of books each is just beyond astounding. I don't understand how its even possible
Your thumbnail makes LE2 look like Jason Statham!!! lol
It literally looks like someone requested an AI to make a Jason Statham Space Marine.
I really love that you add some out of universe information (when stuff was published and the like). That's something I always want to learn about in addition to in universe lore.
Is that our favorite space marine Jason Statham in the thumbnail?
Bruv he got two souls fighting 24/7, just need to get a hydronic press n squish em.
Newish fan happy to see this. This video is fuckin sick
I loved the homage to LE 2 taking it back to where it all started. To have a low key MVP role where he reconciles he can't do much, failed Erda but comes in clutch several times regardless.
Someone really ought to tell Dante that he really isn't that old compared to this guy
Awesome vid! Love this longform lore stuff and I'm really glad you are making these! Sorry you've had a tough year but I, for one, really appreciate these! Delving into this sort of lore is such a great distraction from my own stresses. Thanks again!!!

Stay awesome, Sandman. You are very appreciated.
Very interesting lore bit, never heard of that character before. As for what might happen to Leetu, you can never know. Maybe Black Library and GW forgot about him, maybe he's coming back in high style. It's a named space marine, after all.
It's less they forgot about him and more he was introduced very recently in the grand scheme of things
its more that dan abnett is a crazy man who knows the most obscure bits of lore and he had an idea to bring this dude back as a character
I don’t know about you have a rough year, sincerely from Madrid, Spain, I love your videos your passion and our hobby. Please take care of yourself, and enjoy only make these videos for all of us, but primely for yourself. Hugs man!!
Leetu is my absolute favorite human character, mostly bc i'm a eldar fan, so i don't pay much attention to the Imperium side of things, i didn't even cared about the Siege of Terra books, but then i heard of Erda and got curious (bc i adore the archetype of the demigod's mom).
Truly amazing video well done!
