To have big E's baby mama raising you, you have the best upbringing as possible as far as a moral compass. He went to defend the palace, if he didn't go Erebus would have killed him to. Love your content. Also Leetu reminds me of WALL-E in a way that sad but free now to be himself fully. Ol never l liked his sleazy come ons and takes cerene off the crashing ship of Lorgar. I believe she showed Lorgar to meet fulgrim...cabal BS. The blessed lady was now a perpetual after erebus brought her back from 2 years of demonic torture in the warp. What if leetu rather than being a proto space Marine is a proto primarch just a primarch without the secret sauce or as much power put into him it would be a call back to when the primarchs weren't as special as they are now
Such a proto-Primarch had, in fact, existed. I don't remember the details, but he was the first Angel with absolutely ludicrous psychic power. IIRC he was created shortly after the Emps travelled to Molech and bargained for arcane lore with the Chaos Gods. Unfortunately, he proved to be too mentally unstable and turned against humanity in some way, so IIRC the Emps disposed of him and decided to give each of the twenty actual Primarchs their own roles, strengths and weaknesses, and dialed down their psychic presences. His story echoes that of the Thunder Warriors and Astartes -- seems like the Emps likes to begin his grand projects by making his creations as OP as possible, then finds ways to make them stable and sustainable.
I would consider the remake of the original model to be Leetu, the fact you can't get it anymore fits his name. As for alpha primus I agree it would be amazing for him to get a model for use in an admech army
I needed to think for a moment before i remembered they arent the same guy. They are such symilar archetypes. Except one has a loving parental figure and another one has... Cawl?
I believe that when Letu is thrown to dark gods the point was they did notice him but only for the briefest of moments, as at that exact moment the emperor lay dying and Horus seem to be steading in victory. I would imagine all four had their full gaze on Horus and would not care for some post-human tossed before them.

LE2 vs Erebus, I can see it now: Erebus is performing some Sector ending rutial but at the height of it, he is interrupted by an astartes of colourless armour, but a colour that he recognises non the lest. A duel ensues, and LE2 gets the upper hand, before a finishing blow can land, Erebus reaches for his Athane blade, and wispers "Anywhere but here." And is teleported away. However the chaos gods, displeased by his failures, intervene and send him to the only place that would have been worse, at the feet of the betrayer, the man who longed for retribution for Argal Taal. And the last thing Erebus sees is Gore child rise, he never sees it fall, its too fast.

I like to think that Letu was the first Erda and Astartes ever made but him leaving with Erda was circumstance and their relationship formed after she realized the Big E was going to kill him. He wasn’t raised there in the palace but spent time in specific areas for training and observation. Probably from a Custodes since that was all the Big E had that was comparable at the time. I don’t think the Emp had much to do with Letu. He didn’t want to be attached and saw him as the prototype. A lone wolf. Something Astartes shouldn’t be. Also him not having any loyalty beyond Erda probably bothered the E. Not only did Letu have no “Special Sauce” he simply wasn’t interested in the greater game not that it mattered he was just a pawn. What does make Letu so special is his unique training, upbringing from Erda, and probably gene seed of the Emp that resulted in a good but ultimately inferior product a Primarch could proginate. That’s why Letu isn’t some Remus Ventanus or Sharowkyn etc. Letu spurred the project forward. Big E told Erda Letu was shit, they needed something more. Erda, pissed since she gave so much to develop Letu, fled. Having had the correct blueprint but realizing he can’t create the warriors he wants from his own flesh: e goes to Mollech for the bargain of the decade. She probably said something like “Letu is kind, gentle, loving, and brave, he loves culture, art, and yes even warfare. He is everything we want humanity to become!” The Big E-“ for humanity to take its rightful place in this galaxy, Erda, there is room for only one love in the heart of our soldiers: me. I cannot expect this crusade to succeed if my soldiers are left pondering their own existence. You swing the pendulum too far, Erda. You made a boy into a powerful force of man. But you did not make a space marine.” So while he’s on Mollech her and Letu escape. The Big E after stepping out of the portal, already knows they have fled and where they are. His powers having grown so much. But he has what he wants and is content to let Erda have a measure of peace with “her perfect space marine”
Headcanon: to the Emperor, Letu was a prototype to be stepped over and improved upon by further developments, to Erda Leetu was a unique creation and a being that had no overbearing grand purpose in life, as his goal was simply to survive the Astartes creation process, thus he was free to simply protect humanity as the ultimate human warrior.
Leetu is my absolute favorite human character, mostly bc i'm a eldar fan, so i don't pay much attention to the Imperium side of things, i didn't even cared about the Siege of Terra books, but then i heard of Erda and got curious (bc i adore the archetype of the demigod's mom). Leetu took me by surprise, he was cool and interesting but it was on TEaTD vol3 he became my pookie, i felt so bad for him, he somehow felt so innocent, so naive when his world was shattered, with the revelation of Erda's death and Dan hammering hard "you failed your promises". I felt so bad for him, like i wanted to hug him and tell everything was going to be okay, that it wasn't his fault, i love Leetu so much. He's the only reason i pay attention to the Imperium nowdays and i'm hoping he returns during the scouring.
My idea is that it's very, very, VERY difficult to actually permanently destroy a soul... The visions of Sanguinius-like entities are actually those of Sanguinius - parts of him - but also echoes from other times entirely. The soul of Sanguinius was broken and severed to such an extent that in reality it looks like it never had existed - but if this was a permanent annihilation, Sanguinius would be unpersoned. Nobody would even remember him. The very concept of Sanguinius would have been retroactively removed from existence. There was an attempt, but not even Chaos is powerful enough to do this.
I think you confuse material causality with Warp shenanigans. Horus was obliterated, and perhaps there are parts of the Warp which are tied to timelines where he had never even existed. But his name is still known. It's impossible to retroactively erase things and events completely from material reality using the Warp, even though it allows time travel to a degree. Warhammer isn't a universe about massive time paradoxes. Sanguinius' echo certainly exists in the Warp, the Sanguinor is imbued with a part of him, and both Dante and Mephiston were visited by this echo. But I'd say that it is too weak to ever reincarnate Sanguinius even using a perfect clone. I think that fighting Horus at full power after everything Sanguinius did at the Eternity Gate before that had quite literally drained his spirit too much. Unlike, say, Magnus who was split apart as a result of the Battle of Prospero, of whom only a piece remains that ascended as a Daemon Primarch, or, say, Ferrus Manus, whose psyche was shattered by the betrayal at Isstvan and his duel with formerly beloved Fulgrim, and who, perhaps, is simply no longer willing to be involved with the material world at all and desires eternal peace at the Emperor's side, Sanguinius' essence is more like "too little butter spread over too much bread", as Bilbo described his own state in the Lord of the Rings after bearing the soul-draining One Ring for too many years.
Personal headcanon rn is Leetu will become the source of the Grey Knights’ geneseed. They always said it was derived from the Emperor himself, but ofc that is impossible. However, Leetu was made before the Primarchs, presumably using a certain amount of the Emperor/Erda’s genetic material. If Leetu were their ‘Primarch’ that old claim would actually be half-true.
My headcanon is that the Grey Knights were created using the Sangprimus Portum, the device that contains the pure genetic material of every Primarch, that was returned to Terra by Omegon (or the original Alpharius?) after the Raven Guard were left with the contaminated sample. It should be a unique blend because it provides the Grey Knights with both heightened psychic powers and heightened protection against the Warp. Neither were demonstrated by Leetu prominently. My impression is that his gene-seed was more like a pure Astartes template without any positive or negative traits whatsoever or any distinctive features. Just a warrior.
With Malcador’s comments of what the Throne would do to the Emperor it would seem that it’s similar to when Odin lost an eye to look into the well. Except Big E has been doing it for the last 10,000+ years.
Awesome vid! Love this longform lore stuff and I'm really glad you are making these! Sorry you've had a tough year but I, for one, really appreciate these! Delving into this sort of lore is such a great distraction from my own stresses. Thanks again!!!
One of my favorite things about warhammer is all the familial connection between the characters. Leetu is totally a runt older brother of the primarchs. And the custodes are basically the step brothers of the primarchs.
All this story woven around this "first space marine" is truly fantastic from a meta story point of view. This is the marine that started everything, really, all those years a go, and so, having LE2 become the founding piece of the current 40k setting, the Horus Heresy, the Space Marines, the Emperor upon the Golden Throne, the Emperor's Tarot, all of it - it's a beautiful tribute to this model and its creators. And much like the trivia of the model, this important truth is all shrouded from the common knowledge. Few know of LE2, fewer still - who created it, but all know what was made possible and what endures because of it. This is a truly beautiful work of meta fiction, cementing the very nature of creation in it. Magnificent work by Dan Abnett here.
Valdor should have apologized to LE2. That was disrespectful and uncalled for to call him an idiot. I expect more from the Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes.
Valdor has even less humanity left in him than your average space marine. It's not a matter of trying to sya something mean it's a simple fact of calling it as he sees it with the information he has.
What was Horus's reaction to the Emperor becoming the Dark King and becoming even stronger than him? Was Horus scared? He was so arrogant earlier, but the Emperor displays power than even Horus has never seen.
@@fabiochristiaan1128 - I would think it's a very important issue that needs to be addressed! Horus acted like he was unstoppable, but then the Emperor suddenly became a super Dark God. You would think it would make Horus reconsider and give him pause. Maybe even Horus becomes unsure of himself.
If you did a summary of the entire siege of terra the way you did emperor vs horus showdown in this, I bet it would get a million views. Very well done!
Very interesting lore bit, never heard of that character before. As for what might happen to Leetu, you can never know. Maybe Black Library and GW forgot about him, maybe he's coming back in high style. It's a named space marine, after all.
Genetically, more like a weird grandfather. The genome of his artificial organs should have empty spaces where the genes from individual Primarchs would have been inserted later, to give each Legion's gene-line its own traits.
To your point at around 1:18:00 as to how Leetu survived in the realm of chaos that close to Khorne, I think because he had so much of the emperor's blood all over him from trying to free him that that might have had something to do with it in shielding him somehow
Epic! Always peaked by "Outriders". They don't fit in. The only drum they march to is the 1 they hear in the moment of need & it is deafening. U are what U do when it counts....Leetu is & does. Glorious. Many thanx Noble Lore Guide (NLG). 👍👍 May U remain in the Emperor's light.
LE 2. Limited Edition 2. I think 1 was either a space ork or space santa. I remember when that came out. Id only just got into warhammer at school. Got rogue trader the day it came out. Happy times man.
What amazes me about Warhammer is even with there sheer size how nimble they displayed to us you would think it would be a slow unskillful battle but they do a good job of showing us they were skilled at battle
I was playing whf rpg when leetu was shown. I didn't actually remember it until now. Just subscribed to this fantastic channel. Thanks for the trip down memory lane much needed
He would have usurped the other chaos gods mantles had he ascended and take most of humanity with him if not all. This might be the final solution Malcadore had in mind if the throne failed.

My impression is that his gene-seed was more like a pure Astartes template without any positive or negative traits whatsoever or any distinctive features. Just a warrior.
@@p_serdiuk also possible, tho the Grey Knights might just pick aspirants who are psykers already.
You have made a lot of things make sense that I was confused about.
"He did not have a primarch, but a mother" oh that was such a goodie!
thank you sir ... the longer the better :) .. this will be played a LOT...
Your thumbnail makes LE2 look like Jason Statham!!! lol
It literally looks like someone requested an AI to make a Jason Statham Space Marine.
Bro, your voice is amazing. Makes the content so much better. Keep that up!
Thanks! Will do!
Thank you so much for this - I really enjoyed it. It’s a fantastic aspect of the story, and you’re a great storyteller, voices and all.
Technically Leetu is a Primarch
No he's not lmao
No, Primarchs do not have the same set of organs as an Astartes and don't even have the progenoid glands.
With Malcador’s comments of what the Throne would do to the Emperor it would seem that it’s similar to when Odin lost an eye to look into the well. Except Big E has been doing it for the last 10,000+ years.
Who else wants a Leetu and Alpha Primus "buddy cop" series?
Awesome vid! Love this longform lore stuff and I'm really glad you are making these! Sorry you've had a tough year but I, for one, really appreciate these! Delving into this sort of lore is such a great distraction from my own stresses. Thanks again!!!
you have a great voice and speech pattern. i loved listening to this.
Sandman Max effort this video is insanely well made, cheers!!
It's 40k bro lmao
@@supershot9729 I was being sarcastic. Lol
Loved this!
Dude, these videos are always ridiculously good
What was Horus's reaction to the Emperor becoming the Dark King and becoming even stronger than him? Was Horus scared? He was so arrogant earlier, but the Emperor displays power than even Horus has never seen.
That is a great question!
He didn't see it I think?
If you did a summary of the entire siege of terra the way you did emperor vs horus showdown in this, I bet it would get a million views. Very well done!
Best Lore channel hands down.
Imagine what Leetu saw when he was tossed into the Dark gods. 🥶
Bloody excellent work.
Salutations from Belfast Northern Ireland 🇬🇧
Love the way he always refers to John as "JOHN GRAMMATICUS".
As promised, here it is! Thanks, I know what I'm painting to today.
Very interesting lore bit, never heard of that character before. As for what might happen to Leetu, you can never know. Maybe Black Library and GW forgot about him, maybe he's coming back in high style. It's a named space marine, after all.
It's less they forgot about him and more he was introduced very recently in the grand scheme of things
its more that dan abnett is a crazy man who knows the most obscure bits of lore and he had an idea to bring this dude back as a character
I opened the video just to hear some stuff about the first space marine out of curiosity, then I learned a lot about Emperor, Horus and more, wow
I have been waiting for this video from you! I love your content and the way you deliver it!
So genetically, this space marine is an uncle to all other space marines
Genetically, more like a weird grandfather. The genome of his artificial organs should have empty spaces where the genes from individual Primarchs would have been inserted later, to give each Legion's gene-line its own traits.
Another cracking one
Next the lost primarch....
He already did those.
No, there was another one. The zeroth specimen.
To your point at around 1:18:00 as to how Leetu survived in the realm of chaos that close to Khorne, I think because he had so much of the emperor's blood all over him from trying to free him that that might have had something to do with it in shielding him somehow
Thats a really cool idea. I was thinking about him being covered in Big E's Blood
Outstanding deep dive video…really appreciate and enjoy this snapshot and eager to see Leetu’s thread continue.
Glad you enjoyed it! Can't wait to see what Dabnett comes up with
Epic!
Always peaked by "Outriders". They don't fit in. The only drum they march to is the 1 they hear in the moment of need & it is deafening.
U are what U do when it counts....Leetu is & does. Glorious.
Many thanx Noble Lore Guide (NLG). 👍👍
May U remain in the Emperor's light.
Some one needs to animate a Yu Gi Oh esque battle between The Emperor vs Horus.
I loved this , thank you for taking the time to walk us through this cool part of the story of the ages .
LE 2. Limited Edition 2. I think 1 was either a space ork or space santa. I remember when that came out. Id only just got into warhammer at school. Got rogue trader the day it came out. Happy times man.
It’s him, John S. warhammer
Someone really ought to tell Dante that he really isn't that old compared to this guy
What amazes me about Warhammer is even with there sheer size how nimble they displayed to us you would think it would be a slow unskillful battle but they do a good job of showing us they were skilled at battle
Great to have you back. Take care of yourself
Your channel is def my favorite.
Masterfully read and argued.
Is that our favorite space marine Jason Statham in the thumbnail?
A Space Marine that knows his roots. Unlike the ones we have now.
Um what? Like in what sense? Most know about their geneseed and og legion
@@supershot9729 Leethu is unique, he belongs to no primarch gene-seed.
@@Gneskos okay I know that what does that have to do with what I said lol most marines know their roots
Erda did her sons more harm in her methods of tossing them to the Warp. So many ended up damaged.
She's a dick
Newish fan happy to see this. This video is fuckin sick
Videos like this are why I'm a fan of yours
I was playing whf rpg when leetu was shown. I didn't actually remember it until now. Just subscribed to this fantastic channel. Thanks for the trip down memory lane much needed
He would have usurped the other chaos gods mantles had he ascended and take most of humanity with him if not all. This might be the final solution Malcadore had in mind if the throne failed.
I don’t know about you have a rough year, sincerely from Madrid, Spain, I love your videos your passion and our hobby. Please take care of yourself, and enjoy only make these videos for all of us, but primely for yourself. Hugs man!!
Even The Choas Gods see him, and they're like "Look at this little shit, I like him. Let him live." and you know....they the Ops. 😂
I'm relatively new to 40K (besides playing Space Marine 1 and now 2), but wanted to say bro - I was strapped in with popcorn at the ready watching this video! Absolutely captivated!
Glad I could help!
Thanks for quality content as always! Have a nice day dude :)
Thank you so much man! You're a rock
Awsome as always bro
Wonderful to have you back, Sandman.
Sounds like a good candidate for being Cypher.
Hmmmm
