No the link does not work in many areas ... also people report that the update doesn´t provide the LATEST update but instead the older V65 version.

Tip - put a piece of dark tape over the sensor between the eyes too keep the screens on and prevent the headset from going to sleep!
I just change the settings from few seconds to 3 min but you can turn off too
You are the greatest person ever. For 4 hours I tried restarting, rebooting factory and changing my wifi and nothing worked. Then I watched your video and it worked thank you sooooooo much.
Upon installing the update, I immediately get a: "Your device has been disconnected from this computer. Power off your Quest device and try again."
It says the page isn’t available.
What browser did you try?
When I opened the link on my phone it says it only works on only works on Chrome, Edge and Opera.
Trying it on chrome it no longer says its unavailable.

I needed to use VPN as its not available in Sweden. Seems to be region locked...

Still not works, V68 is out and it installs V67 every time. What's the point if I still only able to install what's also available for me in the headset?
The Update Tool didn't work for me. I followed the instructions and plugged my Quest 3 in and it said downloading update and then said it installed the update and I could safely remove the USB cable. So I do so and check my Update number and it still says I'm on V65, what gives?

Definitely this is not a force update. I have v65 and tried it twice, both the time process went well and got the message update successful, but ended up same v65. Its not updating to latest version. Just guessing, you might have got it since you are subscribed for PTC updates
Did you go to settings/software update and search for the update? If it's on the system that can find it
I´m in Germany there was "This page isn't available" then i VPN to New York and then it worket BUT i only updated to old V65, in which country are you where it works?
i tried vpn to new york but still not available. same for seattle.
I got v65 in the US (Michigan) as well.

Did this on Quest 3, tried to go from v65 to v66. It did not do anything.
Good to have an official solution to do so. There's always grabbing the firmware zip and pushing it manually with adb, but that relies on a mirror site having pulled it which isn't always the case. Probably still check the third party mirror first since having the zip seems more convenient than streaming it to memory, but if it doesn't this is good to keep in mind

I decided to try it on my phone and It gave me a different message.
It apperantly only works on Chrome, Edge and Opera.

seemed to work for me but still no warping fix :( i hate how meta locks some features behind the whims of you being randomly selected to get them even if you've forced an update. im on the ptc, what the hell!!!
Yeah even after I forced updated my headset it actually took a few days for the warping fix to kick in. odd
Wow, how professional of Meta! I mainly use my HMD for PCVR and now I see myself as a Pimax Crystal Light owner in the near future and goodbye Meta, though.
Don´t forget, ONLY the Pimax Crystal ( not the light version ) is able to be used wireless ( with the Pimax Gigabit-Wifi-Dongle )
If you still want to be tethered your thoughts might be okay, but also Pimax has a lot of settings and some trouble adjusting everything the easy way.
Every distributor has itts own software problems.
But you can be sure that Meta has a lot of fluid cash to invest in infrastructure ( servers, etc. ) for better and smoother user experience ... Pimax is a company that exists since 10 years and they have been struggling a lot on their way , especially the customers were very unsatisfied with the complicated settings in the software.
I personally prefer the Meta Quest3 as it has real good optics ( lenses ), a good resolution, the possibility to play PCVR games WITH or without a cable ( over WLAN / Wifi ).
A cable connection always provides better quality but when you play shooters for example the cable is annoying .. i prefer wireless

Pimax are learning from their mistakes, look up the Light version and their new promising marketing strategy for better End Quality Control. Also, I'm noticing more transparency between customer and support, you can look up their official subreddit and the community unofficial subreddit .. Tbh, nothing comes near a DP connected headset for best visuals/experience with ZERO compression artifacts! And much fewer latency. This is my OWN opinion, so people don't think I'm advertising anything!
Meta, on the other hand, wasn't even generous enough to implement a DP on their top tier Quest Pro.. I personally tried 4 Quest 3 units that had different issues because of their end quality control until I settled for the last unit! The first 3 units had either stuck or dead pixels + terrible SDE and were so frustrating to exchange every time. Even the last unit's pannel was dimmer than earlier 3 units, but at least has no dead or stuck pixels nor the noticble pixelated pannel everywhere I look in VR .. The pannels are different in their built, peak brightness, pixels quality and "mura" on bright surfaces because of pixel inconsistencies. Add to that the different manufacturing quality of the lenses as well. Glare and blooming are also different from unit to unit. It is what it is, and I'm keeping mine for standalone/AR titles, of course.

Now we need expandable storage. I would connect a 1tb drive to the headstrap, like a battery. And 3rd parties would be out in no time with headstraps that contain some kind of storage drive.
Does trying to update through the website work with the public test channel?
It blows my mind the gymnastics Quest users go through just to do regular stuff. And somehow those users are ok with this. I freaking love my Pico 4. And I don't need a smartphone, a PC or any of that nonsense. It just works. And I can freely use whatever android apps/browsers etc without Meta telling me I'm not allowed to do something. Local networking out of the box, I can run a VPN on it if I want. If Pico could be sold in the US I think Quest wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as it still is.
always comes to availability, sadly many have sunk money into too many games on quest now, so switching would be difficult anyways.
what can i do if after selecting sideload update and trying to recognize my oculus quest 2 - i dont see my device? I see oculus if i'm not in boot menu.

Same here super happy update is done and I see nothing is changed :/ only I have new an environment. But still v66 so most of the updates are missing
In the last 3 weeks I checked 3 times a day in quest 3 if there is new update. Now I have to update 3 times from website for hoping one of the update will be v66
Just tried to update to V67, it updated to a newer 66 and didn't want to go any further, so i downloaded do zip from the unofficial mode sice meta can't even make a normal update forcing tool. Its really nonsense that a big company like meta can't figure it out

200% open OS for sure guaranteed lol. Link gives an error page saying the page might be broken or removed.
I went through the update process using this method once. But I ended up on v65. I then deleted my browsing data and went back to the website.
The website now says:
"This page isn't available. The link may be broken, or the page may have been removed. Check to see if the link you're trying to open is correct."
I think Meta has taken down the website.
The weirdest thing is that being in an unsupported region for the quest 2, I always get an update even before TH-camrs make a video on them. Is it maybe a bug in the rollout?
At connect device I connected it to my computer on my oculus I pressed side load update but when I connected oculus to computer it didn’t show up
I rather wait for the automatic update. Just wish Meta will be more transparent on when it is coming. Maybe a statement saying when ALL devices will have a particular update by. Waiting for the improved pass through on the Quest 3. Definitely needs it for the better hand tracking also.
Not working on chrome or firefox on windows machine page fails to load.
I tried this method, and it does not work. All it does and install the same version you currently have installed. The only solution I have found that works is switch your device to the public preview channel. I was able to pull v68 right after changing this setting.

Try to join the PTC channel, I get updates faster. Good video how to though
If you have friends and regularly go on calls on Quest to join each other rooms while sometimes also watching Meta Quest TV together. Not for them. However, for everyone else, good way to get updates.
Does not work. Wouldn't connect until I rebooted pc. Then, it started updating sluggishly slow, but at 3 percent, it randomly rebooted into normal mode.

First time I tried it failed at 70% installation. Second attempt completed the update successfully. However on booting in to the device it still shows v65. I am a litlle confused to say the least.

I tried it once (tried updating to v66) and it seemingly updated my quest but in reality it didn't update at all. I ended up having to use adb to force update

It's not working for me on Opera Gx. Some people say it's working on Chrome but I downloaded it just for that and it still didn't work. The link works on my phone but not on my desktop, I don't know why.
Are we in 2024 or 1968 ? ? Meta is not able to just simplify it ?

my old Quest 2 is still on v63 and won't update to any newer version for some reason. My Quest 3 has v66, but my Quest 2 is stuck on v63. Anyone having an idea ?
don't want to hack the subject but are there any news regarding a new Steam headset? What happened to the Deckard project? I am struggling to decide between Quest 3, Crystal Light or wait for something that has all of the best features, like high resolution from crystal light, optics from quest 3 (pancake lenses), oled displays, light form factor (etc)...
In my opinion, valve is about as focused on VR as Sony at this point. Gabe hasn’t talked much about VR in years. He’s having fun with AI and brain stuff these days, couldn’t give a shit about VR. Also.. valve made ONE GAME for their 1000 dollar vr system… The SteamVR updates are rare and insignificant.. they released their Air Link equivalent this year, like half a decade after it became a thing with VD, and like 3+ years after Airlink.
I don’t think waiting for valve makes any sense at this point. They’re happy selling other people’s games and their own ultra slow x86 platform, the Steamtendo Switch, at 700 bucks to people who have way too much money and an unjustifiable trust in Valve’s support for hardware… (literally abandons everything they make).
Steam Controllers were dumped, maybe for good reason (they were probably too hard to learn for most. I know they were for me.)
Index and Vive got about as much love as Windows MR.
Steam Machines were abandoned as a concept (makes sense, should never have been a thing in the first place)
SteamOS is a shitty linux distro that is useless as an actual OS. (Which is technically fine, as it is used as the frontend for the low powered feeble steamtendo)
They hardly make games at all
They shit all over the games they have made (TF2, I’m looking at you…) and abandoned Alyx right after launch. Mod tools are shit still, and there’s no multiplayer for the modders to play with either, which means Alyx is pretty much just dead… their only VR game, abandoned almost immediately. Gabe definitely regrets not just making HL3 and getting 50 million sold in the first month… He won’t make that mistake again, proven by the fact that the 4 games they had in development for VR never saw the light of day.. they literally saw the sales numbers of Alyx and instantly cancelled 4 games.. lol..
Get a quest 3. enjoy it, sell it in 2 years and get a quest 4..
Alternatively wait a year and see what google has done, and what the other manufacturers have done with the access to the Meta os and quest store.

I did the update, I see the new inviroment but in the system I see V65. I did the update again but still did not get the V66 :( is it not out yet? I want the Meta button on wrist + Improved passthrough and mixed reality interactions

This definitely does NOT force update to any higher version but installs the same version. So don't bother. :)

Fine, Meta. You don't want to give the users the ability to update easily at will. Annoying, but ok. At least give us a menu in the settings where we can see which enablements are available and which are active. Not knowing if you have hand tracking update X or passthrough update Y is beyond annoying. It also makes the fact that we can't just easily update at will even more frustrating. Please, Meta. Give us all the info.
Why deal with what seems like an awful tool when you can just sideload the latest update from a firmware file?
For v66 it took a few weeks before it was available as a file.

Seriously, until my STANDALONE Quest 3 doesn't need a frikin' PC or even mobile phone app at all, at any stage, not even for initial setup, the whole concept of it being a STANDALONE headset it a bit of piss take joke imo.
Unless I specifically choose to use it for PC VR or decide I actually want to connect it to some clunky phone app, none of this other separate crap should be necessary at all.
For Christ's sake, Meta--how hard is it to get simple stuff like this right.

Why would you not just update it manually using ADB the same way you have been able to for years now? Using a flakey web based updater for a bricked headset seems bizarre. You just sat around with a broken headset hoping they would randomly release an updater or something .. madness.
This is why you DONT release info like this to everyone. This was for people who actually needed it, now no one can use it. Thanks.
