OMG, Tracy!! You nailed it! I am a child of the 70s and I love this quilt. Wouldn't the world be a happier place covered in these quilts!?! I am going to try to tackle this one for sure! ❤❤❤ Thank you so much for sharing your pattern.
This was the first quilt book I bought in 1979 (along with 5 detailing other crafts). I didn't get into real quilt making until the 1990's when I was able to take classes. I know this would be an exciting quilt for my youngest granddaughter who is 11. 1970's flower power would be perfect! Interesting to see others who have this book, especially the ones who bought it new!
I love your technique to make the flowers Very Clever. The quilt is sooo beautiful. EXCELLENT WORK Tracy!!! I don't think I have the courage and the skill to tackle such a project. Let me get my go-go boots out I been around before panty hose was invented or disposal diapers too
Thanks for your special quilt tutorial, as a child of the 1960's and 70's I don't think we realised how special that time was. Your quilt reminded me of the dresses my mum used to make me. I still love flowers and paisley prints. How awesome would a layer of paisley petals look I wonder . 🇦🇺💜🇺🇲💚👍🖐😊
I have this book!! It was given to me by a quilter that was going into a nursing home. I have always wanted to do this quilt. So happy to see you make this!
I HAD THAT SAME BOOK WAY BACK WHEN AND DONATED IT TO AN ORGANIZATION, YOU HAVE MADE MY JUICES FLOW, WANTING A "REDDO" LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING AGAIN. THANK YOU.
If I could give you more than one thumbs up I would. Absolutely love the quilt. I have always loved primary and jewel toned colors so your quilt speaks to me. So very 70s, took me back to flower power and Goldie Hawns body paint on Rowan and Martins Laugh In. My sister and I used to paint those flowers on on legs for fun. One time my mother sent us to the store with our legs painted with flowers. I also had some bell bottoms with that same floral pattern. Loved the quilt and the video. Thanks for the 70s flashback
I got blessed with this book at a Saver's thrift store just yesterday. Has some super quilts in it. Like all of them. I really like the Star of Bethlehem, Lonestar, curtains and the puff quilt. The flower patterns are different than the one you have but the same idea. Thanks for calling attention to this book.
This is great! I love it. Also while watching I realized I could totally piece this on a longarm since it's all raw edge. Just by loading a whole cloth top, back with batting. Then add the pieces and stitch around them as you go. I'll probably not get to it right away... but it's an idea for the future 😊
Oh yes Tiffany!!!!! You would have it done in a flash on the longarm! Such a great idea! Now if I only had a longarm......LOL😂 (I wonder how this quilt would look all done in dif shades of PURPLE💜?)
Thank you so much April💛 I had soooo much fun making this 70's quilt...the colors had me smiling the whole time...it's going to be super cozy this winter❄️
Omg!! Tracy I love ❤️ love ❤️love!! This!! I always say im a hippy at heart lol I grew up in the 70’s too along with The partridge family and the Bradys!! Can’t wait to make this! Thank you so much it’s awesome!! Fantastic memories!! ❤️
I'm probably 80% hippy Marie LOL😆 I LOVE this quilt too.....I was excited the whole way through the making of this quilt....I think it was the primary colors that made me so happy! So much fun!🎊
Oh i love anything from the 70s i too grew up in the 70s. It was such a happy time for me. Young, unencumbered and just being a kid. I will be making this for sure!!! Minky is pricey in Canada (i find) and oddly enough muslin is too! I don't understand why the muslin is as pricey as regular cotton fabrics. I'll figure something out. Thanks for sharing this pattern. It is so Brady bunch groovy!!!
Just being a kid in the 70s was so freeing. Instead of muslin-maybe a sheet? and instead of minky maybe a store bought fleece throw? Have fun making it Lisa!💛
Hey Tracey! Beautiful quilt! I'll play with this design & collect fabric for it as I can...have to have 1 flower that is Tennessee Orange 🍊😉 (for my grandson). Who know I just might have a special "flower" for each of my grandchildren & great-grandchildren! Thanks for bringing back taste of the 70s! If used, I'll just throw a couple color catchers into the wash, they do work great.
@@TheSewingChannel I loved it from the moment I saw it on the Book cover. I can’t find my book. I bet someone borrowed it and kept it. Your gonna love it!!!!
I love it! I may just have to try a smaller scale version for the great granddaughter. But then again...making it smaller scale to create some bag making fabric. Oh the wheels are turning 😊
@@TheSewingChannel yes! And I do have such a pattern! Now to source some fabric. Could go like you went or use bright neon(ish) colors....decisions decisions 😊
@@TheSewingChannel not the colors, the frayed edges. We were too close to the “be perfect 50’s” or at least I was. Lol . I bought the book because of the colors. Love your videos!
I, like Tiffany immediately of doing this on my longarm. Nana made a quilt like this with all sorts of leftovers from garment sewing . No batting just a heavy yellow/orange broadcloth backing with a massive 3inch wide binding wrapped around to the front. xxx
@@TheSewingChannel I LOVE that quilt - that's why I've kept the book all these years. Never had the nerve to try and make it until I watched your video. I went and got the fabric two hours ago! Thank you Kathy.💛...When I saw the quilt in this book I got super excited to make it. It's the only quilt that I've come across that actually looks like its from the 70s. 🤷🏻♀️
What a beautiful quilt it does remind me of the 70's thankyou for showing how you made it and for the free template it will come in handy for lots of items
Oh my I had that book in the 70s. Unfortunately I was not into nor had the time to make quilts then. I did make a patchwork bag. Thank you for the tutorial and the pattern.
I bought that book in the 70's because of some of the other crafty things but I wasn't making quilts at the time. After watching you make this cute quilt is encourages me to make one for a flower lover...maybe a lap size.
I just had an idea 💡: If we used a coordinating fabric for the underlayment, it wouldn’t matter if there were a few spots that came uncovered when the flowers lifted up or frayed. It wd cost a little more than muslin, but not that much and think of the savings in time, if you didn’t have to cut patches to cover every little spot or edge of the quilt! I just watched your video again, and your quilt came out much prettier than the one in the book, for some reason! I also had that Georgia Bonesteel book, too, until my apt flooded and I lost all my quilting books. I believe hers was from the 80’s or early 90’s, if I recall. I just wanted to say, thanks for sharing this with us. I get very overwhelmed with life’s problems. But your video cheered me up and got me excited about something; got my creative juices flowing; and that was enough to get me over the hump!🌷💝🌷
Yes Susan-I had thought about using something other than muslin too....in the end I only fixed those 2 spots that I showed in the vid✅ I'm thinking it might be too heavy with a better fabric other than muslin. With the top, muslin, batting and the minky it is a substantial weight....more like a winter quilt for sure. Life can be so heavy-I totally get it....quilting is definitely a type of mental therapy❤️ Keep your creative mind flowing and keep out all the crazy stuff! Have an awesome quilting week Susan!!💛
This quilt reminds me of a cover my mom and I made, it definitely wasn't a quilt, but it was in the 70's. It had colorful flowers all over and was in the great colors of the times. What a great memory! I love your quilt I appreciate you sharing it with us and the templates too! You rock Tracy!

So cool! If my mom had seen that quilt in the 70s, she would have made it from her scrap stash. Thanks for the memories! 🌸❤️☮️
Yep...your mom probably would have used anything and everything she had on hand✅

Thank you so much Janet...so much fun!🎊
Great pattern!! I graduated high school in 1971 so I can relate to the 70's!!! I think I'm going to make my best friend a fall quilt with this pattern. I don't use any other social media but I will share with another quilter. Thanks again!
