      I prefer the one with the sashing I was thinking to myself when you showed the quilt at the beginning that I thought it would look better with sashing. When I saw it at the end of the video with the sashing it confirmed it for me!

      This is one I'm going to try in blues using a dark blue for the lines, I love the darker one it reminds me of the countryside.

    The one with the sashing is more defined and there is a uniformity about it. I really like it!!

    Definately the sashing. When I saw your finished quilt, I thought: "beautiful, yes - but I bet it would be even better with black sashing." and then you brought out the second quilt and I melted. How perfect.

      I love both of them, but I agree the one with sashing looks more like stain glass. Perhaps the colors you use might matter in the choice to sash or not.

    WITH SASHING. As you were laying it out, I was yearning for you to add the sashing. It makes it seem more "finished" in my humble opinion. This is such a grand pattern! It could be used with almost any layer cake and one could always change the color of thE sashing.

      I like both but I prefer the blocks with the sashing on each block because I like to quilt the blocks before I put them together.

    Love both versions for different reasons. With sashing, looks like stain glass of course, but no sashing, looks like a modern art piece. Can’t pick a favorite. Love them both. ❤️

    Thanks Donna! They each have their own artistic merits. With sashing looks more formal, sans-sashing has a bohemian flair. Another great tutorial! 😺

    OH STOP!!!!! This is EXACTLY the quilt I’ve been searching for for a layer cake I have. Thank You, Both quilts are unique because of the fabric choices, but I tend to lean toward the one that is sashed! I’ll find a good sashing fabric and get to work!

    I prefer the one with the sashings around all the blocks. It looks more finished and I love the stained glass effect it creates. Both are beautiful quilts, and I love how easy you've made them for us to make!

    I love both of them. With slashing it makes the quilt look more effective, but I also like the one without the washing as it looks more abstract.

    I made several of these some years ago... It's a blast! When you need something easy and don't want to have to spend a lot of brain power. Goes together so quickly and is sooooo satisfying! Do it!!!
