      @@kennethporst4359he wishes. That’s a very rare and very expensive block that unless you’ve got some deep-seated love for that motor and hate for your wallet there is not a whole lotta point in building, you can build a smaller or bigger motor (428 for example) and get the same power reliability and still afford to put fuel in the vehicle. The 427 is a beautiful motor but it belongs in the cars it belongs in or with people who just have enough money they can afford to throw it away

      352 can make a very mild street motor, but dependable. Like the other guy here said a mildly built 390 will provide a lot more. Look for a '62-'66 with a 4-bbl, from a Galaxie, majority were HO.

    And I, on the other hand, had a 302 that was a '70. It was in some car that FORD made. I bought it from a guy who had it in a '28 Model A Hot Rod pickup. I put it in a '71 Aussie Falcon, then into a '37 Pommie Ford Anglia Hot Rod, and lastly, another Aussie Falcon. That's one engine in 5 different cars.....must be a record !!

    Not sure how it goes about replacing a 302 for a 460, but the idea sounds cool to me. If it’s simple (mainly with keeping the 5 speed), maybe it would be fun to try a heads/cam basic build and just see what it does. I know the goal is a more “race car” set up, so a 460 doesn’t suit that but for a fun street car it could be cool.

    I broke my Ford back in 2017 and it’s still dead. I’m selling it because stock is simple and I hate fixing stuff.

    If you're already gonna have work done to the block why not just have it resleeved? Probably cheaper than buying another block that you gotta do work too

    What was the issue why the block couldn’t be reused??

    I’ll be that one guy. U should throw an FE in that truck one time. I’ve had tons of luck with mine and I’m about to do a Full performance build. Either that or a 351w

    Maybe use the big blank wall as a trophy wall. Hang all the pieces of destroyed engine/trans you can. Call it a wall of remembrance.

    Larger carbs = more air = leaner AFRs. Remember you want velocity over volume. Size your carb properly and you’ll be very impressed with the results throughout the rpms vs oversizing your carb to where it’ll only pull good in high rpms.

    • @alfatasteless
      @alfatasteless ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually that's not necessarily true. Too large a carb and the engine can't draw enough air through to maximize the efficiency for the venturi size so it will actually run rich.

      Some guys do equate bigger carbs with more fuel, when they could get more fuel (fatter) by changing the jetting. The Harley crowd loves to go right to changing the carb out for bigger when they have only done small mods like pipes and air cleaner.

      @@davidvaughn7778 I had a ttr125 as a kid. Couldn't fit your finger through the carb it was so small. Than put one on forget the size but it was a flat slide for a 125 2 stroke. Fit the bike perfectly. Clamped right in. Stock boots. No cutting or anything. Throttle cable even worked. After i got it jetted with a vacuum gauge I got it running really good. Bike had less torque but made literally twice the power up top. Within a few minutes I learned the hard way small air-cooled trail bikes didn't have rev limiters because I spun it so fast it kicked the rod out. Ended up buying a crank for 30 bucks and a set of cases for 40. Rebuilt than sold it. But I'll never forget how much top end it had. This was the first time I modified something that made a massive improvement in power. I have a Sporter I'm planning on putting a big dyna carb on hoping for similar results

      @2wheelhoon813 I had a couple of 883 sportys( an 04 and an 05, one was stock CV carb. The second was a Mikuni HSR42 on it. The 2005 ran better and was faster than the 2004 with the Mikuni. The Mikuni was just a bit big, although it's the recommended carb for the 1250 kits everyone does. I was always fiddling with the Mikuni to get the bike to idle cold and then after it warmed up. At least it had the adjusters on thumb screws so you could do it without a screwdriver.

      @@davidvaughn7778 lately the 1275 is the go to big bore. From what I can tell zippers ain't doing so hot and a veteran owned and ran company called hammer performance has stepped up. They have 90ci big bites now but you have to bore the cases. It's cheap and easy to do but requires the bottom end to come out and split so most settle for the 1275. Mine is a 883 but I have a 1200 conversion with 10:1 weisecos. I ported the heads and intake. Everything else is stock besides a velocity stack on the carb with no filter. Drilled jets and very short drag pipes pointing down at the ground. It ran a PB of 12:61 at 103mph in the 1/4 mile but the clutch was slipping hard in fifth. All in all I thought that was really good. I think the only reason it was as fast as it was is the 883 has 31 degrees of timing verses the 1200 only has 28.
