As A Fellow Collector Of Nothing But All Ford Vintage Ford's Except For A 1995 F150 Flareside Extended Cab With A 351W, A 2008 Shelby GT500 .... I Am Glad That You're Bringing These Ol' Boys Back To Life With Ford Engines, Instead Of Those Junk LS Motors 💥
I hope you have better luck with the sniper EFI then other people. I haven't heard a single good thing about them lately. But I guess the same could be said for new parts in general.
You've had my attention with this truck when you brought it to Dylan's house. You're "while we're here" attitude is infectious. Still waiting on more Galaxy content but, I must say young man, your video production is top notch! I've been watching you since the American flag headliner, much respect Craig
Choppy cam means new push rods, which means you better know FE valve geometry or have a FE build book to do it properly. And a pretty big budget. Choppy FE cam $350 or so. Push rods $100 or so. Hydraulic Lifters $275 or so. Roller rockers $700 or so. Rocker shaft and arm assembly better than stock (a weak point on the FE with a choppy cam, you could break the end of the rocker shaft off) $700 - $1,400 or so. And the $$$$ goes UP from there. And don't get me started on aluminum heads to make that choppy cam 'efficient'. FE engine is NOT a inexpensive engine to work on or to have a choppy idle. These engines were designed to be stump pullers, LOTS and LOTS of torque, so-so HP. So you better plan to eat Ramin for awhile to pay for that choppy cam.
Damn bro, that is the best looking FE I have ever seen. Putting the Hooker tag on the outside of the header wrap was a nice touch. This is going to be a helluva rig when finished.👌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love this engine build, appreciate you keeping the FE engine and making some upgrades. I think some people are too ready to swap engines in old cars, when the original style engines can be reliable and easy to work on. Enjoyed the video!
I would’ve left the top half of the motor the way it was with the valve covers the way they were out of the box, but I also understand your vehicle what happened to the four galaxies both of them and the crown Vic front end swap with the frame that you had
Having been an owner of the Sniper 1 and still dealing with problems, hopefully Holley sorted out the problems with the Sniper 2 or there won't be any "reliability."
Keep up the great work man, can’t wait to hear this thing running, should be interesting to see how the EFI works for you, that’s what I’m wanting to put on my 69 once I swap in the 351W
Regardless if it's considered "Extra" by some, I absolutely love the little details like the header tag. It's coming along great, can't wait to see the finished product!
Bring your truck to Hot August Nights in Reno. Would love to meet you and talk about your build.. check it out online. It’s a week long event but most show for the weekend.
It's a Sweet moter... You almost brabbed my heart for an Ford FE motor... Till seeing you install the rockers :) Then I remember 'Why' I'm a 351 Windsor Guy :) FE's will run for ever, just never take them over 5400 RPMS! Can you say, Bend Push rods was the story of current and former owners of FE motors :) BUT! I have a life time desert 1972 Camper Special 390 H code FE for trade for a mid 90's 351W/5'8 truck motor ! ! !
I'm eventually hoping to locate and build up a 68-71/72 Ford custom cab trim or sport custom trim truck for a rat rod shop truck and i for some stupid reason thought I'd be able to find what I'm looking for and trade my 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab long bed 318 magnum V8 46 RH automatic overdrive transmission manual shift transfer case lever on the floor gloss black with most of the white pinstripe 4x4 truck for one yes it's a northern Ohio truck so it does have some rust around the edges and the front fenders are rusted out over the wheels but it would honestly look like a different truck with better front fenders, and what i have found out so far no one in the last two years has been willing to trade on it, More than 25 of them don't care for second gen dodge ram trucks at all almost all of them want only cash and $2,500-$4,500 and i have actually recently received two offers for my 2000 dodge ram quad cab which is not the common short bed it is a long bed truck, anyway ive got 2 different offers $300 with title and all the parts i have for it running and driving,,,,no freaking way
Looks amazing 🎉Keep the camper top, I have grown to appreciate it . Long time subscriber, you have come a long way since working in your parent’s garage . Your content get better all the time , keep em coming Buddy 👍
I think it would've been easier to slap a big choppy cam in than change all the springs. Or that's how it would've justified the purchase to myself. Congrats on all the new stuff.
Man your channel and your two bumpsides, specifically your crew cab has inspired my bumpside build! I think they're the most beautiful trucks no matter what modifications are done! They always look amazing!!
You're killing me lol. You go this far... literally pull the cam out... but you don't upgrade it with a mild cam. Love the build. I can't wait to hear it run. Keep pushing on.
@@jeffreyyeater1780 i had a mild sbc 75 Chevy 350 bored 0.30 over .0.20 dome pistons,, competition cams xe 268h 477/480 lift 221/224 cam kit truck definitely had a noticable lope lol
The engine looks absolutely great bro! I literally can't make myself re use an old stock cam, lol even if it's OK I still order a better one from summit lol love the videos bro doing an amazing job
Always put a new oil pump on an old engine when you have taken it apart! It’s good insurance! Thank me later after you have to pull your engine to put new oil pump in!
hey craig idk about you but i love watching toolbox tour videos and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see your setup! keep up the great vids!
FE's can be a expensive project. Just a Edelbrock intake manifold can be 400 bucks and up. It isn't a cheap engine to build. A stroker 442 can run 8-10 thousand, start to finish. Without a sniper 2 or a Marsh serpentine belt system. Those are extra. FE's aren't cheap.
Took my 390 down like yours but replaced all the oiling parts, shaft, pick up, pump all torqued to spec and replaced the camshaft bearings while the rotating assembly installed (difficult) but do able with a new lunati camshaft. Too bad you didn't have enough time to do yours. 👍
Your killing me bro ! Had the cam out, it has damage, you had better spring on the new heads, through a cam in there ! Whats a good comp cams for that ? 250 bucks ? Anyway, love your content and being in cally, awesome stuff !, sorry looked at summit amd well isky is the only offering and about 350 bucks, but after all that . . . I'd put a cam in it.
Heck yeah man I commented basically the same thing before I seen your post, I mean it was out and the replacement heads were even set up for a cam swap
Wicked shirt, bro I just picked one up. I missed the last of the Fox body shirts hopefully one day you might think about bringing those back. I’m a fox body owner myself.
Engine looks dope! and Bro you should consider putting some of vice grip garages "Shine Juice" next time the paint needs to be polished. It goes on anything, even rust and bare metal and isn't sticky. it shines while maintaining the patina.
Entering the magical and often frustrating FE World…what letter follows the C4AE on the heads? These would likely not be replacements for the 427 in an R code Galaxie (when new); however, they do look to be opened up nicely.
K almost bought a set of m/t fe cast aluminum valve covers but I was trying to get a truck from the junkyard at the time i offered $1,300 and they wanted $2,800 needed tires, rockers, cab corners inner fenders but it was a gold 72 Ford f250 sport custom fe360 automatic transmission fmx, so I ended up getting a 82 Chevy k20 Silverado regular cab long bed 4x4 it needed tires better doors i kept the same ones and the bed was junk and again i kept the same one

paint he top and lower part of the air cleaner gold
Love all your videos supper Ford guy that's pretty cool I'm a chevy guy but as long as it functions properly I do have a big like for 88 5.0 Mustang
I hope you have better luck with the sniper EFI then other people. I haven't heard a single good thing about them lately. But I guess the same could be said for new parts in general.
Black widow exhaust is a must at this point
That old a/c compressor can be converted to an air compressor if you ever need to run onboard air on a later project
Great idea not to change all the mechanical pieces that can fail. But everyone will love the pretty paint job.

My favorite vehicle of his fleet
That engine is rad! Should have put a choppy cam in though 😊

Holy Smokes!!! That March Performance stuff is very very nice! Great video as always.
Uuugghh!! Forgot the bypass hose between the intake and water pump!!! Those are a pain in the ass to get in there with everything assembled.
Interested in the performance-mpg's once it is back on the street! Great video Craig!
DAMN HOLLEY HOOKED IT UP
Awsome although I was waiting for the… I dropped the cam off camera had to get a new one and might as well go big or go home 🤣
Love the truck builds because I’m a truck guy at heart. Keep up the great builds.

You know the 410 FE you got rid of a few years back be the perfect home for Mercury FE valve covers.👍😉
no way i could've left that stock cam in!!!
I love the truck. The body lines drive me crazy. I wish you'd fix the body mounts. Love the videos!

That pulley setup is insane! looks amazing!
I love those Mercury FE valve covers... I have a 66 Montclair with those covers, they are wicked!

I think it would've been easier to slap a big choppy cam in than change all the springs. Or that's how it would've justified the purchase to myself. Congrats on all the new stuff.
Nice.
Need some more bullnose videos
Looks killer man. Love the channel
Man your channel and your two bumpsides, specifically your crew cab has inspired my bumpside build! I think they're the most beautiful trucks no matter what modifications are done! They always look amazing!!
I have never in my life installed or reinstalled a factory camshaft. Straight to the scrap pile. If it ain’t choppin I don’t want it 😅😅
I love the Volvo PS conversion. I've sourced 2 to convert both my brick nose pickups. No more pump whine & seeping fluids!
Looks awesome. I'd be worried about that rotating assembly though...
You're killing me lol. You go this far... literally pull the cam out... but you don't upgrade it with a mild cam. Love the build. I can't wait to hear it run. Keep pushing on.
Bothers be to stick a cam back in that has a messsd up lobe like bro you already have it out
I agree . New cam , mild 268 h , or comparable. Still very , very cool though . Awesome
He put a $2,000 serpentine kit on the worlds most hacked together engine.😂 btw, too much zinc is a thing.

The black engine with gold valve covers definitely gets my vote.

When are will see the Crew Cab finished Craig ?
Coolest valve covers ever!

Wow Craig! That engine is incredible. It looks so good.
This is making me want to build the motor in my 86 ramcharger
Check your bolt pattern on the exhaust manifolds. It looks like there might be a misalignment on the exhaust manifolds.
Forget what I said. The new headers look like they will line up with the heads.
The crew cab is my favorite build yet
Who's bump is the white/grey one at 15:57 I'd love to talk to them I have lots of questions
What gold paint are you using?
You’re welcome for the shop towels and strange looking headlights jk but my old valve covers came out amazing
I appreciate your help man!
That camper makes it the truck it is
great stuff thanks, the truck is coming along nicely
hey craig idk about you but i love watching toolbox tour videos and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to see your setup! keep up the great vids!
That crew cab is going to be awesome! Love the color of the valve covers!
The 80s intro music is cool
Where do you get the music from Craig?
This truck is a revoltingly great build, im loving it
wow an engine like this must cost a bomb
FE's can be a expensive project.
Just a Edelbrock intake manifold can be 400 bucks and up.
It isn't a cheap engine to build.
A stroker 442 can run 8-10 thousand, start to finish.
Without a sniper 2 or a Marsh serpentine belt system.
Those are extra.
FE's aren't cheap.
What’s your exhaust set up ? Currently building a 67 f100 on a 408 stroker
Looking awesome, can't wait to see it installed and running!😁👍👍
Black and Gold. My school colors Class of '66. Go Matadors.
those are some sweet valve covers.... killer job on the build... its coming along real nice
Is that a stock intake manifold?
Craig got that dawg in him when it comes to gettin-er -done
I can't wait to see it running
Can’t wait to hear it run.
Took my 390 down like yours but replaced all the oiling parts, shaft, pick up, pump all torqued to spec and replaced the camshaft bearings while the rotating assembly installed (difficult) but do able with a new lunati camshaft. Too bad you didn't have enough time to do yours. 👍
Why is sister not on more episodes?!? Jk. Keep making sweet rides.
Another great video! Love the truck content! 🏴☠️
🤔 It's interesting that you were able to get 12mpg with that truck and carb setup. And I can barely get 11.5 mpg in my stock 94 bronco with the 351w😞

Change cam profile you need new push rods.
And you need to know what you are doing to get the FE valve geometry correct.
Tow rig or SEMA build?
Wicked shirt, bro I just picked one up. I missed the last of the Fox body shirts hopefully one day you might think about bringing those back. I’m a fox body owner myself.
What is the hex/name of the gold color you use on your valve covers/wing/oil pan?
I have a bone stock 1971 ford f-250 with a 360 and I get 9 miles a gallon. I wish I got 12 miles to a gallon lol
Yes indeed Awesome
That FE looks sick
Engine looks dope! and Bro you should consider putting some of vice grip garages "Shine Juice" next time the paint needs to be polished. It goes on anything, even rust and bare metal and isn't sticky. it shines while maintaining the patina.
Killed it 🔥🔥
Now repaint it to match the T-shirt!
Did you at least check the rod bearings?
The engine looks sweet!! Too bad you have to pull the water pump back off because you didn't put the bypass hose on
Man I can remember when Hooker Headers where made in Ontario, CA. Their address was 1024 West Brooks Street. And now they are made in China. Sad.
The motor is looking good think some zinc plated hardware would really pop
Entering the magical and often frustrating FE World…what letter follows the C4AE on the heads? These would likely not be replacements for the 427 in an R code Galaxie (when new); however, they do look to be opened up nicely.
