  • So is there a better way to cut fire wood? All that bending and splitting. Yes that's right. I cut 6' logs I can stack in bunks, then cut right into the wheelbarrow. You need to understand how your chain saw works, Safety glasses and ear protection are a must. Gloves if you have office hands.

Gary Gilmore has a similar set up published on 3 Oct 2016

I just looked at Gary Gilmore VDO. Mine is all made with wood. He has metal on his setup. I also have a wood bench and not rollers like he has. Other then the way it cuts the wood. I see nothing I did the same.

Bob Anderson Not the same, similar. Making one myself now. Probably go electric to save refilling,no fumes important to me as well.

That's a beauty set up. Im just curious but Im assuming that you have to unbolt the bar to fuel and oil it up?

Easier then that. Take out the screw that it pivots on at the end of the bar.

I have been racking my brain on how to setup a chainsaw to cross cut logs from 4"-10" in 3/4" circles for a wood floor. my miter saw only does 3 1/2" and wanted to know if your system can cut them completely flat at 90 degrees on both sides.

That would be easy if you put a 90deg. stick you can run the bar down.

I am trying to cut log circles anywhere from 4"-10" in diameter for a wood floor and then cover it with epoxy. The only problem is my miter saw will only cut 31/2" Is there a way to use this method and saw the circles completely flat on both sides.

Sound like lots of work. Going to need a stop guide so the cut piece is not to thick or to thin. It can be done.

Hey Bob, Great idea I am 56 and getting older. Just wanted to know if you drilled a hole thru your chainsaw blade at the tip.

No that bar had two holes in it. Most all bars have a hole so you can hang the saw on a large nail. The instruction say you should hang yous saw. Some leak all the oil out if you don't.

It must be the brand. I have 2 Stihl saws with 6 blades total and none of them have holes in the end. Do you think it would hurt the bar if I drilled one.

Stay well back from the sprocket in the end of the bar.

Or go buy a Poulan chainsaw.

Greg Brooks you can drill a bar and u can drill the sprocket as long as you stay in the middle .but the bad news is good luck getting through it with anything short of a Lazer. It's the hardest shit ive ever put a hole in. About the only way is to get a milling burr .good luck

not sure what you mean by a 90 degree stick

A guide stick on the motor side of the saw, so it cuts evenly.
