Community was plenty good after season 3. Season 6 is my 2nd favorite season behind season 3. I see why people wouldn't like it as much, but honestly they handled the change is cast so gracefully. Also I like Black Mirror overall, but I feel like a few of its episodes are way too forced in trying to be profound, Nosedive probably being the biggest example of this for me. Giving this concept a comedic spin is the only way to do it without being pretentious in my opinion.

I really don't understand all the comments saying that the Community episode was better than the Black Mirror purely because it was shorter. Community and Black Mirror take roughly the same amount of time to introduce and establish the concept, then the Community episode ends. However the Black Mirror episode continues and creates a story within this world that it has created with the main character going on a journey and eventually rejecting the social media system. In Black Mirror she doesn't topple the entire society and instead she ends defeated, which is much more realistic than Britta tearing down the system because she has mustard on her face. Of course a comedy, like Community, isn't meant to be gritty and realistic but the story of meow meow beanz is very underdeveloped and essentially introduces the rating concept shows the consequences on society and then has to undo everything because it's a non-serialised sitcom
The Community episode was supposed to be an satire and a joke on this kind of distopian sci-fi trophes like "the system that divides us all", they never had the intention to use it as something "realistic" - They do it all the time and it´s always about the punchline, the real development is on the characters.

However, I must disagree with you on the subject of character as by next episode every relationship and character is exactly the same as always, no one even remembers the incident. This is the inherent flaw with sitcoms, while the format may allow for more wild and outlandish events, nothing that happens in any one episode ever affects any other and so character development is impossible. The same could be said of the Black Mirror episode, but it isn't the same. We never see these characters again and so any changes are lasting. The world doesn't need to revert to it's previous state because it's part of an anthology and so in format terms it is the same as a film. Lasting changes can be made because the world doesn't need to be revisited, whereas in Community the college must return to it's normal state so that the series can continue
BoxBeater Black Mirror is an anthology series, every episode is completely self contained but they are twice the length of a Community episode. So Black Mirror is a lot better at tackling high concept ideas like this because it has time to both introduce them and tell a story within the world it has built.
