  • New Feature! Telsa Autopark for cars without USS was just released in version 2024.2.11. This is the first "autopark" to work with Tesla Vision. This video shows how it works with 2024.2.12 which apparently has "minor fixes". We've been waiting for this ever since they took away Ultra Sonic Sensors from Model 3 and Model Y cars in late 2022. You must have paid for FSD or Enhanced Autopilot to get this feature.

    Nice to see a more neutral/honest perspective. This should at least be ~30% faster and 30% more accurate than what it currently is. Glad to have it back, but I feel it may end up being something I use maybe 5 times and then never again due to the slowness primarily. If it improves at the same rate as the v12 stack, then I do expect this to become pretty awesome one day soon. Time will tell I guess. Thanks for the thorough overview.

    Perhaps you can't park frontwards because there are no cameras upfront? New Smart Summons is. supposed to have a feature that allows you to get out of he car and park your car in the garage especially for a crowded space where it might be hard for driver and passengers to open the doors.

    I did the same test yesterday after I received the update. But the parking lot I was in did not have those double lines. It worked perfectly. But I hasten to add that it did not do so well when I tested parallel parking. It wound up being further from the curb than I was comfortable with. I think those double lines confused it, and this will probably get fixed down the road. Thanks for your video.

    Show me how it works in an unlit car park, in the rain when it's saying that parking assist is degraded. Maybe it won't bother?
    I'd like to see this in UK parking spaces from the 1970's, not in Costco sized spaces! 🙂

    • @TeslaDawg
      @TeslaDawg  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is quite the challenge around here. I live in the sunshine state in Florida and every car park has lights everwhere. In general, our cars are bigger here than in Europe and many people drive trucks & SUVs so most parking spaces are big.

    • @djtaylorutube
      @djtaylorutube หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TeslaDawg Yes I understand that, this is what "we" (not in the USA sunshine states) find rather frustrating. In winter head in any direction other than North and one or more cameras is blinded by low sun.
      UK country roads have high hedges and no street lighting..."camera unable to see".
      Reversing up my drive "Parking assist degraded" because dark and rain.
      Then we come to parking bays set as a standard size by one particular "large" family car in the 1970's and never changed.

    Good video. I think it will improve quickly now that they are focused on it. Their short-term goal is having a car with FSD park at the end of its trip (with or without a person in the drivers seat) and it will need more refinement to be able to confidently do that. Try parallel parking next!

    Things to note:
    1. It can't park front in, it'll always reverse currently, because the front cameras are up on the top of the windshield, so they don't have a good view of the bumper, so it doesn't know absolutely if it's going to hit something.

      I have a single car garage and it does not show up as a parking spot for auto park. It shows a high fidelity parking assist view which I published a video about 3 months ago.
      I'm not sure I understand you question about an option to fold the mirrors when parking. I currently have my mirrors set to fold when I get to my driveway (location based) so that I can get through the garage door with more clearance. Maybe it’s just me but I actually find backing into a space easier than going forward into one. I’ve got a lot of experience backing into spaces with a pickup truck with no cameras. The model Y has three cameras facing back which makes backing in a breeze. Pulling forward is tougher because you can’t see over the hood easily. I agree you shouldn’t be driving at all if you can’t park yourself (including parallel parking). Studies show backing into spaces is safer than going forward. My former employer insisted that we back in when using the company’s lots. Backing out of a space into flowing traffic is where many accidents occur.
      I agree that paying extra for Enhanced autopilot or FSD is expensive and not necessary but I do think it’s cool. It sounds like everybody will get FSD for free for one month to try it out. It has greatly improved with version 12 and will keep getting better. The nice thing is that you aren’t required to buy these features that you don’t intend to use.
