Lone Justice was and remains in so many musical hearts, an incredible band!! Maria McKee, was so many things but what she wasn't was shy. Her onstage persona was a mix of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Janis Joplin, Wanda Jackson and Janis Martin. She was by all measures a stick of fcking dynamite!! Her voice, her body and her hair oozed such sex appeal and exuberance that I found myself just staring at the screen the first time I saw her on SNL. Oh how I wish this band was still together. Maria, I still love ya with a school boy's crush. Do one more "I Found Love"!!
Maria, what a gem. Her bio, Dolly Parton called her the best female vocalist, she opened for Tom Petty, U2, and Bob Dylan. I do hope she decides to tour again.
Loved her so much back in the day. I tried to dress just like her. Got to see the band open for U2. Always loved the old fashioned cotton dresses with black stockings and lace up boots. Dust Bowl chic.
@@avalondreaming1433 Maria's clothing may be related to her sexuality. Perhaps she covered up bit more than most female rockers. Fairly recently, she has come out as lesbian. She stated that she told her mother she had an attraction to females when she was 12. Perhaps her strong Catholic upbringing didn't allow her to pursue females. Although twice married to men, it would appear she's been a lesbian her whole life.
The best footage of the best '80s band no-one's heard of. Watch all of it, but take notice at 8:25 on this one - that is pure gigawatt charisma, you've got a young band, in a small club, possibly the first or at least one of their first gigs in NY and Maria has the audience in the palm of her hand doing nothing. That is elite level stage presence. Wikipedia's saying that Ryan, Maria, and Marvin are working together for the first time in decades. I for one cannot wait to hear what they've done.
Maria is the stuff of legends. So glad I was able to see Lone Justice out on tour before their demise. She is simply a singular talent that was completely mismanaged by her team and label.
But, jbt, industry execs LOVE destroying talented bands - it's sport to them, aided and abetted by jealousy and by the bean-counters - fun for the whole family!
She draws a lot from Janis Joplin, and adds in dance moves from Flashdance and others, including head banging heavy metal. She's absolutely brilliant in projecting fantastic energy and vocals in the perfect rock package.
@bassman601 Professional recordings, Yes. Poor cell phone quality no. This 1985 performance with multi cams is not an audience member recording something they'll look at only once as they block others view of the show.
Dropped into a pop world of the likes of Paul Young and Wham. If they would have followed their own path rather than the record company's, in five years everyone would have caught up with them. Reply
Paul Young was a very good singer. 'Playhouse' and 'Come back and stay' are still good singles. I know the production is dated etc. That he was hyped to high heaven - but I must stick up for him here. He could at least sing well. Personally I always found Culture Club naff and bewilderingly overrated..
It’s funny… we were acquaintance friends for a while during this time. I remember her saying she was moving to Ireland…and I never saw her again…bizarre finding this.

Thanks so much for posting this live performance, I've not seen it before.

Yes. Great singer. Soul, country & rock'n'roll. Too much too soon ?
They should have been one of the best bands of the 80s. Maria was a force of nature
R.I.P. GREGG SUTTON bassist songwriter who passed away last week 2 days after doing a session at my studio for my yearly Christmas tune

I couldn't agree more. That was an unbelievable 1-2-3 punch to start that show. Amazing.
Marvin etzioni was so cool during this gig
Maria is simply amazing
LOVE Maria Mckee & Lone justice saw them when they opened for U2 on 4-21-1987 Los Angeles sports arena ....
Me too
She is absolutely AWESOME!
If you're gonna watch only one video on TH-cam in your life ... well... THIS ONE!

Lone Justice and The Ritz - the perfect combination!!

Took me forever to remember the name of this band but finally it came to me. Still great to listen to so many years later.
Maria is one ball of energy.
She looks like Jessica Lange in The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981). Great singer !
Love Maria, the very best of all.
What a sassy woman... My God.
She was so scrumptiously cute looking back then.
THANKS FOR POSTING! ♥️
A band done so, so wrong by their record company. She was a force of nature.
best shoulders in the buisness!!!!!

Stacey, i believe you have the nail on the proverbial head! Joplin, metal, and of course, energy!
I remember a time when the audience enjoyed a concert without anything in their hands.
You don't like videos of bands? Why are you watching one?

@@tonylombardi4661 You're right. There should be no video of closing night of CBGB, What was I thinking?
Fabulous = Lone Justice.
I saw them live back in April 1985!
Our Universal and Angelic Sis
we need a lone justice reunion tour,

They never should have signed with Geffen. Slash Records was their natural home and would have cultivated their immense talent.
🍾🌹🥰
I think her young age probably hurt. I get Tanya Tucker vibes. Super talented.

Believe the hype!
低い声も良いですね👏
Good Lord, 37 years ago
