Agree. Many of these companies can charge even much higher prices in overseas market like in Australia, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and still stay in business because people in these countries have high discretionary spending power. I think people just have better options for the price and time. Why go to McDonalds, sit in line for 100-20 minutes and pay a lot for mediocre food when I can pay slightly more and get a better burger at various places. 2 years ago I decided to treat myself to a meal at Applebees. The host (if you can call the skinny kid with stringy hair wearing a knit cap) a host. I am a senior and use a walker. He told me it would be a 15 minute wait. When I asked if I could sit in the waiting area, he said NO, you have to wait outside. So rude, and it was only because one waitress says I can sit in her section that I stayed. Still every time I pass an Applebees, I think of the employee who treated me poorly, and keep on driving. I am so lucky I live in a state with so many diners. Good food and plenty of it, friendly staff, and prices that are comparable to fast food.
Since 2021 restaurant pricing has gone insane. I simply stopped going and so have most of my friends. Maybe once a mth we go for the local fullbreakfast for 6.50 and its a local place and we support them as best we can. Cook at home!!!
Bruh, I purchased two original chicken sandwiches and a small side order of mashed @ Popeyes the other day. It was like $15 and that didn't even fill me up. I could've easily whipped up some healthy meals not just one, with that $$$.
I think that is the goal lol to have people go back to cooking at home and overall re-thinking the food they consume for better health as well as slow down the bored eating habit America has..You are not actually supposed to eat until full.If you fancy fried chicken, you can easily buy tenders, flower, eggs, oil and potatoes for a month for the price of 4 single outings to a fast-food restaurant.
Not surprised to see Steak and Shake on this list. Last time I went to one, you were expected to order your food from a kiosk ( no other option at this particular one, don't know if they are all like that ) and seat yourself. Not going to do the employees jobs for them and then pay too high prices. We left.
We all should FIGHT BACK against these high prices at fast food places. I'm getting to where I won't eat out unless I have a get a discount. Because it is much cheaper to cook at home. My Teaching Salary isn't going up just because these kids are paid big wages. Actually, my living standard is going down with all of this inflation. Fast food no longer means inexpensive. The McDonald's where I live charges $3.50 for small fries (about $4 when including tax). I can go to the local grocery store and pick up a ten pound bag of potatoes for the same price.
That is basic economics. People demand a higher wage, then the company raises prices of the product to accommodate the higher wage, and people either pay the price or choose to go somewhere else to get a product. Then the company makes hard choices.
Dozens of small restaurants closed left and right due to the plandemic. Nevertheless these franchises aren't inmuned eithe,r plus the amounts of saturated fats in these foods contribute to people preparing home cooked meals or switching to more healthy and less expensive choices.
Thanks for sharing. While I purchased too much stuff last yr when I got scared/warned by social media that inflation has come. A lot of stuff hurt my financial, and I'm fixing this issue right now. Thanks for warning us months ago, and months later, now, it might be still on the way. Thanks God!!

Then they have the audacity to ask you if you want to contribute to Ronald‘s house. I told the girl last time I was in McDonald’s I got my own house maybe Ronald should contribute to me and I got a coffee. Which was just as much there at Starbucks.
The pricing is out of control. For example. Just a couple years ago, Burger King sold a choice of 2 whoppers, 2 chicken sandwiches, or 2 'impossible' whoppers for $5. Then $6. Then $7.50. OK, fair play, inflation. The next time I went, no 2 fer sale anymore, and 1 Whopper is $9. More than double what 2 used to be. Same with the Chicken. Karls Jr/Hardees had 2 for $5.50 big star, or turkey burger or chicken. Gone. Then it was 2 doubles (jalapeno/Cali classic) for $5, then $6, Now $8, but only double burgers, no chicken, no fish sandwich, no turkey burger. McDonald former Dollar menu McDouble and McChicken keep going up, to the point they don't even advertise the actual price, just advertising that If you buy 1 for some undisclosed price, the second one is a Dollar. I drove past KFC the other day and their advertised big sale is 8 pieces of DARK meat for $20. The problem is, I can go to a dozen mom and pop restaurants in town, or even applebees and Tj Mcsmileys or whatever, and get a 12-$14 lunch special. Not long ago, that was $12 for restaurant lunch, vs $5-6 lunch fast food, but if fast food is only a couple bucks cheaper, they aren't gonna make it.
Less fast food is a good thing and no restaurants at all would be better so people would need to eat at home and cook their own meals. People might even lose a few pounds, which would also be a good thing. I stopped going out over a year ago.
I had planned to stop at the Burger King closest to me in Kernersville, NC only to find out it was closed. This BK is very close to I-40. Across the street I saw that a Taco Bell and a Culvers had opened. Wow!!

Americans are exhausted with war, and whatever happens in Ukraine isn’t really going to have an effect on us like it will on European nations, so we do have a logical breaking point with endless support
But you are not exhausted giving Israel billions every year? They have free basic health insurance. While we don't. Many of you cry about Ukraine but not Israel. 😂 and Israel been happening for ages now. Either way Thanks for your continued support of Ukraine! 😂
You are foolish if you think the outcome of Ukraine won't affect the US. Besides, we signed the Budapest Memorandum, stating that if Ukraine gave up it's nukes, we would defend them against foreign aggression. Throwing money and half baked weaponry isn't even holding up our end of the bargain FFS. If Ukraine still had nukes, it is doubtful that Russia would occupy half of thier territory.
@@rightsdontcomewithpermits7073 the Budapest memorandum has not been ratified by congress so it is not binding. Congress controls the purse and declarations of war. That was a geopolitical deal leaders made without citizens support. I don’t believe Ukraine shouldn’t get any aid, but it should be approved by Congress, not just declared by the president.
@@rightsdontcomewithpermits7073 I think funding for Israel and Ukraine are unrelated. Justifying support for Ukraine shouldn’t be watered down to “but Israel”. The issues should be evaluated independently. I’m not anti aid to either one, the funding process just needs to be followed. It’s things like the Europeans saying the us is holding up funding, it’s the sense of entitlement to do whatever they please, and the disdain that there is a system in place that requires them to get approval.

First: Thank you for yet another well done and interesting video. As for Inspire Brands 'sister' brands of Dunkin' Doughnuts and Baskin-Robbins, with the former doing much better, it does not take a business major to understand why. Quite simply: Dunkin' Doughnuts can sell product year round. Ice cream, (mainly being a seasonal offering) puts it in a position which makes me wonder how they even got this far. Most owners of locally owned ice cream shops here in Illinois, temporarily close for the fall/winter and, take up residence at their 'snow-bird' homes in Florida or Arizona.
Raising Cains is closing restaurants not for the reasons stated. It’s because their food sucks. They built a new location close to me last year and painted it pink to honor Post Malone. I was so excited and gave them two chances, but their food is just horrible.
The Chick-Fil-A here in Winston-Salem just closed down to expand the store. I don't know about the other ones but that store does a booming business and has since day one. The place is always clean and the workers all have a smile and the food is good.
We have gotten sick the last couple of times we ate at Arby’s, KFC, Taco Bell, and Burger King. It’s obvious they don’t move food as fast as they once did. Suspicious the food is too old to be safe. Or has simply sat around far too long.

The Chick-fil-A located 2 miles from us is always packed. They just opened another one about 5 miles away to meet the demand. I don't eat fast food restaurants, but Chick- fil-A does have good chocolate milkshake, but make sure you run for miles after consuming it. 😊
Chick Fila is always packed in Colorado and Georgia too. They even have a special method for moving customers through the drive through. Chick Fila is better quality than most other fast food. When I lived in Colorado the town I lived in did not have any nearby Chick Fila. People would bring it from Denver and sell it to people, not even kidding. Every time I was in Denver and it was not a Sunday, I would go. They are very popular there. People in my town would always talk about wanting one in town. I live in Georgia now and there are plenty of Chick Filas. They are all busy. People will pay more for Chick Fila because they usually have great food and service.
I’m not surprised about the Baskin Robbins closing. I’m 78 years old and as a child they boasted about having 32 flavors of ice cream. We’re in the 21st century and they still have 32 flavors of ice cream. No progress whatsoever!!!

I can see opening one or two stores, but when you have the same restaurants every 6-8 blocks you have to wonder what someone is thinking. Well, as McDonalds says, "We're not in the food business, we're in the property business." Besides food prices have gone through the roof for less than stellar service and food quality. Buy yourself a fryer and a flat grill, cook your own burgers and fries, and you'd save yourself a slew of money.
Raising Canes': Finally tried their food a few months ago in Woodfield, IL. Was very underwhelmed, especially in comparison to Popeye's and Chic-Fil-A. Surprised they even got as big as they did.
The ones in South Louisiana are usually wrapped around the building and out onto the highway I tried it once when I moved to Louisiana back in 2003 at their original location in Baton Rouge near LSU it was overrated then and 20 years later it's probably still as overrated or even worse my daughter said the tenders have shrunk but the prices are higher than a kite
Steak and Shake in our area was awesome. Until they got rid of all of the waitresses and went to a pickup at the counter system. The original vibe is gone and now it feels cold and unwelcoming.
What can you expect with a revolving door of low paid staff, who only want to be on their phones. Cheap ingredients packed with chemicals, preservatives, and meat made from the cheapest cuts, bread made with excess sugar, and even pickles with 14 ingredients. These chains all need to disappear in favour of independents who can sell real food, and actually work in the business they own. Laws should be passed to prevent these successful owners / operators from opening multiple locations to prevent the cycle of big Corporations who inevitably proceed to reduce quality, increase profits, and franchise to rich guys who end up owning many stores allowing the cycle to repeat itself. .
In my town in Northern California there are pop up Taco stands, they change location all the time so they can stay on business, everyone loves these Taco stands, the line is long, it has all the other restaurants upset trying to shut them down because they Taco Stands are very popular and taking all their business.

We were forced to eat at a chick filet last time we went to a concert in downtown Chicago…..only thing open nearby. Good lord the food was horrible, expensive, and a limited menu. YUCK. I will say with an amount of befuddlement, that the one closest to my house in the burbs seems to be pretty busy most of time.
I agree with the last comment that was on here about lousy service and prices on food. When you pull up to the drive-thru at a location in Garden Grove California and you order a superstar with cheese and a small fry and it's $10.85 and the company wonders why their sales are lousy. Their franchisees and the company can keep their prices low. How many decades has Carl's jr. Been in California where they've made millions possibly billions of dollars. The company can keep prices low they made enough profit over the decades. Cut back on all these CEOs and corporate salaries and then you can pass the savings on to your customers. This goes also to every other major business in this country that's been around for decades and is made millions to billions. Until greedy shareholders and CEOs stop with this madness it'll never get better.
I wanna start a restaurant where you eat bugs. Your order is taken by a blue-haired teenager with a low attention span. And completely run by AI......the devil
Chick Fila is probably shutting down some locations because they built new ones. They recently closed the oldest location in my town and built a new one. We have 3. They did not need the old location because it does not have room for all the customers in the drive through. The new one has much more space.
A lot of the newer fast-food spots suck in my opinion. Chik Fil A is good the first few times and then you realize it has this weird "chik fil A" taste which started grossing me out. Then you have Five Guys and Smash Burger and Shake Shack and they are all so inconsistent, while also being overpriced, that it's not worth it. Five Guys is the worst because it's just a sloppy mess with too much beef and fries that have been fried 15 times. In the end, McDonald's will be having the last laugh as usual.
Cheap money loans are disappearing globally and that won't be changing for at least the next couple decades at best so buckle up because it's going to get worse and most overseas markets are in much worst shape than here in North American and their situations are a lot more grimmer than we are in here in the US, Canada and Mexico.
How is Chick-fil-a a thing? I remember the cafeteria food from high school being better than this wet "fried" stuff and two pickle slices on a bun. I don't get it.
It’s a restructure, almost every company has been forced to do it. Everything is almost 2x as expensive and no company is making 2x the money. You will see this continue to shrink until the threshold of pain becomes tolerable. 😊
I dont feel quite so mad at yum brands after hearing this. Also youve got to figure driver jobs may increase when the pandemic spillover effects stop. I have noticed that right after the pandemic the auto mechanics were backed up as no one traded their cars but now has greatly improved. So things may soon reverse.
Due to unreasonable increase of minimum wage, rental space, low worker supply are main reasons closing restaurants in the US. The menu prices are sky high and most seniors who are majority customers have low income due to inflation.
It's sad to see Steak n Shake on the chopping block. It was good and didn't make you broke. I was happy to hear they're coming to Las Vegas but that didn't last long. Both locations are in casinos but not open 24hrs and the quality just isn't there. I was a cook back in my school days so I know how it's supposed to be. Wasn't expecting chic fil a, I thought they were killing it.
Steak N Shake here in MO. Have no waitress service you go to counter and order you pick up food drinks Disabled get table service exception and Yes they are packed customers are happy
I wouldn’t conclude the chains are closing just because this AI voice is saying so. They may close individual stores here and there but we’re not talking bankruptcy.
Last time I went to Hooters was eight years ago. The food was horrible. The service was slow, and the girls, you could tell it all gained weight. Yeah, I guess they had to hire the heavy D’s. And it’s heyday I never really cared for Hooters. How is felt that was going to get teased up I was going to go to the local strip club. I think even today they push that stupid calendar. They come up in flirting your table hoping to drive up there too. I’m like go gold dig somewhere else.
About five years ago I went to a Burger King for the first time in 20 years, because they had the Impossible Burger. It was okay, but they gave me almost no fries with the value meal, and I paid way too much. Never again, to any of these places.
This is MISLEADING. Chik fil A's that are closing are being replaced by NEW stores that are in a better location, for example, the Chik fil A near me closed when they built a brand new one across the street which had a much better entrance and exit. A highway entrance had been built, making it almost impossible to get to the old store, so they build a new one and closed the old one.
Please close them, the price and quality is going down hill so fast, even getting a 5$ meal is left over crap, trying to justify the price to stay in business, I’ve gotten so many fast food delivery Uber requests, Mc Donald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s 1$-3 tip for deliveries don’t help me earn profits except filling my car fuel tank, my acceptance rating is low we’ll go figure I get 6$-$14 tips at Panera, chic fil a, five guys, chipotle and Starbucks being top tippers in the majority
Part if the problem I think is hiring adults to take beginners jobs for young people. When I see someone in their mid to late 20s working I wonder what the hey. Fast Food jobs are just one of many starter jobs and do not a career make.
Where I live the best thing going is the CiCi's buffet and the Golden Corral. While CiCi's may not be the best pizza around it isn't that bad. Hell during happy hour all through out the summer from 2pm to 4pm you can get an adult buffet and small drink for only $6.56 all you can eat pizza, salad, pasta, and deserts and all the soda you can drink. The place is packed where the parking lots at many of the other restaurants around are nearly empty. If you go during normal business hours the buffet and drink are around $12.00 but it is still a better deal because it is all you can eat. What are you going to get for $12.00 at a burger joint or a diner these days? Not much! Buffets are the way to go if you want your money's worth.
Almost every one of the closures lists a larger city. Could it be all the thefts and other issues currently found in the larger cities. I wonder how many of the so-called customers are doing a dine and dash......
The prices charged is not agreeable to the buyer. No sale no business. The value for the product is not high enough to create purchase. So yes close your store you are not wanted.

Yes because the company doesn't pay them enough to care.
$24 for a burger, fries, and a drink at Five Guys. Outrageous.
Wow that’s crazy! I loved BWW and 45$ for wings for 2 ppl and now it’s 62! For wings!
I blacklisted BWW long ago for their prices. Five guys is crazy as they come.
Since 2021 restaurant pricing has gone insane. I simply stopped going and so have most of my friends. Maybe once a mth we go for the local fullbreakfast for 6.50 and its a local place and we support them as best we can. Cook at home!!!
I have almost completely stopped going. I used to go multiple times per week. Fast food is heading toward extinction in Calif.
Who can afford to
Bidenomics is working😂
Fast food is corporate factory food.
I love KFC, but I can not longer afford it, or Popeyes. 🙁
Grocery store fried chicken is 1/3 the price of national brand fast food places and tastes just as good if not better
Ya kfc cost $30 for ten tenters and 4 sides for one person
Bruh, I purchased two original chicken sandwiches and a small side order of mashed @ Popeyes the other day. It was like $15 and that didn't even fill me up. I could've easily whipped up some healthy meals not just one, with that $$$.
KFC really isn't good for you.
It's nice to see these companies get smaller.
That food will make you sick and throw you into an early grave.
Well thats 95% of food everywherr.. jeff rense calls it thr SAD … standard americsn diet
Yep, Veggies, rice, and tea is the way to go

Not surprised to see Steak and Shake on this list. Last time I went to one, you were expected to order your food from a kiosk ( no other option at this particular one, don't know if they are all like that ) and seat yourself. Not going to do the employees jobs for them and then pay too high prices. We left.
Our steak and shake closed over a year ago.
Around here Chick Fil-A is certainly not hurting for business!! Cars lined up about any time you go, and they move them through fast!!
They run that place like a well oiled machine! They have never made a mistake with my food and the staff is excellent.
Tijuana style taco vans are doing business on roadsides everywhere here in Southern california.
Good quality fair prices.
We are barely making ends meet, so I'm not going to help them pay employees like $15 to $20 / hour.
That is the result of needing to pay the employees $15.00 -$ 20.00 per hour.
@@gordonbone3689 Well, that's not my problem. My Teaching Salary isn't going up just because these kids are paid big wages. Actually, my living standard is going down with all of this inflation. We are barely making ends meet, so I'm not going to help them pay employees like $15 to $20 / hour.
Fast food no longer means inexpensive. The McDonald's where I live charges $3.50 for small fries (about $4 when including tax). I can go to the local grocery store and pick up a ten pound bag of potatoes for the same price.
Already did the same 2 months ago.

I stopped eating out 35 years ago, I cook myself , eat fresh and you will not be sick
$3 for a small diet coke at Jack in the Box Phoenix, AZ. I walked away, went to Dollar Tree and got 20 oz diet coke for $1.25. I'm not stupid.
There should be pressure to the parent companies to pay up, rather than pressure from the parent companies to cut operation costs!
I had planned to stop at the Burger King closest to me in Kernersville, NC only to find out it was closed. This BK is very close to I-40. Across the street I saw that a Taco Bell and a Culvers had opened. Wow!!
I went to high school in there, Glenn High
This why family owned restaurants survived the Great Depression. History is repeating itself. Many of your chains started out as family owned such as Kentucky Fried Chicken. When big business buys the restraurant it ruins the business . New ones will spring up with better food.
Thank God for the mom and pop restaurants. Better foods!
Fear not people we still have Baskin Robbins .... with all the crap going on we need ICE CREAM

Raising Caines is opening 3 more stores in California. They are never slow......except the drive thru.....
These fast food restaurants came into existance by offering fast , reliable, friendly service with affordable prices. The tastes were consistant and each had their own stamp. Now the service is slow ,the employees mostly seem to not want to be there and some unable to even speak english .Many menu items are out or discontinued or served cold, portions size has gone way down and quality is an after thought.
I wouldn’t be sad if all fast food restaurants were closed, it just might help out local businesses
Baskin Robbins should not sell their ice cream in grocery stores. Keep it in-store. Make the customers come to you, don't go to them.
People are still going to Grocery stores - but they do not go to Baskin Robbins for a lot of the year. When the weather gets cold - BR needs money to survive the winter.
@@Thommadura Yeah, and then, out of habit, people will continue to buy B&R ice cream in the stores once the weather warms up , brick and mortar B&R stores will lose sales, go out of business then everyone will ask, "How'd this happen?".
Pure Nonsense - There is not a single "GROCERY" store that depends on ONLY the profits of Ice cream to survive. Grocery stores sell LOTS of things that you can buy at other venues such as restaurants and diners, fast food places, and even soda shops - and they manage to survive quite nicely. Add in the fact that there are dozens of brands of ice cream and B&R certainly has no major share of the product category I suppose the next thing you are going to say is that Grocery stores will go out of business because of lack of sales of Frozen Waffles when Vacation season rolls around and people go to IHOP on the road.@@jediknightjairinaiki560
Americans are exhausted with war, and whatever happens in Ukraine isn’t really going to have an effect on us like it will on European nations, so we do have a logical breaking point with endless support
USA is paying wages for thousands in Ukraine.
But you are not exhausted giving Israel billions every year? They have free basic health insurance. While we don't. Many of you cry about Ukraine but not Israel. 😂 and Israel been happening for ages now. Either way
Thanks for your continued support of Ukraine!
I love this channel! I watch it every day!
Fast food is just as expensive as a sit down restaurant, people don’t wanna pay $15 for a McDonald’s burger
Just noticed that Denny's in our area went out of business. Now we just have I-Hop to fill in that genre.
Same thing with the Denny’s in my neighborhood!! It closed at the beginning of this year.

Good news. Obesity rates in those cities are reportedly decreasing without those 3,000 calorie plates of grease cleverly disguised as grand slam breakfasts.

KFC Has been sucking in Quality for the past 40 Years.

Very expensive garbage food. Same with MacDonald's and Burger King followed by fast food chains to vast to mention.

Chick-fil-a is going nowhere! Same for Starbucks. Rest all are doomed.
Location; Location; Location !!!!
Yep, they do that. Close to expand, remodel, or redo the drive thru.

The only Fast food I will eat. I'm in NC and they are always packed! They are not going anywhere.
Paced in Pleasanton California too. Just opened another one a few miles away
I’m not surprised about the Baskin Robbins closing. I’m 78 years old and as a child they boasted about having 32 flavors of ice cream. We’re in the 21st century and they still have 32 flavors of ice cream. No progress whatsoever!!!
I wouldn't go to a fast food place if you paid me. They said screw the customer and pocketed the profits.
Exelent info! Thanks!
They went from high school students taking jobs that gave them responsibility, to employing adults who DEMANDED higher pay. Be careful what you ask for, because now everyone will suffer.

starbucks, chick fil a, dunkin donuts, 2 banks, and a new addition to a kinda-new shopping mall, have all been built in my area in the last 18 months and they are busy when they need to be, so i guess my area is doing pretty good still

I can see opening one or two stores, but when you have the same restaurants every 6-8 blocks you have to wonder what someone is thinking. Well, as McDonalds says, "We're not in the food business, we're in the property business."
Besides food prices have gone through the roof for less than stellar service and food quality. Buy yourself a fryer and a flat grill, cook your own burgers and fries, and you'd save yourself a slew of money.
All the James Coney Island hotdogs are closing also ! That six inch weiner with mustard, diced onions, and a scoop of chili.

Telling the truth has become a game. KFC, The Food is beyond NASTY!
I love Arby’s but we have to travel about 20 to 25 miles. I am always saddened when these businesses that have been a part of my lifetime (I am 88).😢😢😢
Fast food is too expensive people are cooking at home now and enjoying it the fast food chains are played their cards.
You get poor service because large company’s don’t care about their employees, just profit.
Most of (if not all of) fast food joints will turn into restaurants or just go out of business. Current fast food prices are unsustainable.
No one wants to pay $10 for fast food meals that took more than ten minutes to prepare anymore. 😢
Cheap money loans are disappearing globally and that won't be changing for at least the next couple decades at best so buckle up because it's going to get worse and most overseas markets are in much worst shape than here in North American and their situations are a lot more grimmer than we are in here in the US, Canada and Mexico.
High prices did it for me at some of these and other fast food restaurants. I won't eat at fast food restaurants without a coupon.
How is Chick-fil-a a thing? I remember the cafeteria food from high school being better than this wet "fried" stuff and two pickle slices on a bun. I don't get it.
Not to mention it's bland as hell .. I've had ol leather shoes that had more flavor than chick Fil -a
You guys are smoking crack

Central Texas here. And Chic Fil A is always busy. They use MSG so I can’t go near the processed foods.
They have become a restaurant associated with church folks
The most surprising development in fast food as of recent is Taco Bell. I guess it’s commitment to affordable pricing is literally paying off
It’s a restructure, almost every company has been forced to do it.
Good riddance fast food needs to improve people sick of the garbage these joints toss out at ridiculous rates.
It's sad to see Steak n Shake on the chopping block. It was good and didn't make you broke. I was happy to hear they're coming to Las Vegas but that didn't last long.

I'm curious, at 2:00 minutes, why are you showing statistics from the Japanese stock market?
