Probably a good at least half of the list I shopped at at some point in time. Toys r Us, Montgomery Ward's, Blockbuster, sports authority and several others.

I miss Borders so much. I’ve always loved books and every time I went there I was in my element. I remember when I had my first child I would take her and buy her a book and just have a nice quiet cozy time out😢
Indeed! Walking through those doors was like walking through a portal to another world-a magical world full of joy (and shiny playthings!) just for children!
I really liked KB toys. I remember this weird video game system I bought from there when I was like 11 and it was really fun. I also had a PlayStation but I would often play the one from KB. Cant remember what it was called. Had a game would fly around in a spaceship
Hahahaha so true. It was like a magical kingdom. Before my Toys R us shut down about 8 years ago I went back. Just did not feel the same as when I was a kid. It was actually depressing.
My favorite part was renting video games I wouldn't have gotten the chance to play otherwise. I discovered a lot of hidden gems I otherwise wouldn't have at Blockbuster.
Yes, Blockbuster was THE place for video rentals. It brings back fond memories, especially for 90's and 00's kids. Shame that they wouldn't thrive as much in the age of streaming.
I agree blockbuster was the only thing to get movies back in those days but we can’t hold on things forever of course I’m not the one to judge at all but still I’m not only miss blockbusters but I also miss Toys “R” Us They used to have the wonderful toys back then but alas all things must come to an end as they say😢 and yes I’m crying and yes I will accept your comments for help me to cheer me up so that way I could feel better and thank you truly
As an electronics hobbyist , RADIO SHACK was THE STORE for my shopping !! In the mid 1970's I bought a quadrophonic amplifier , a turntable , an AM/FM tuner a cassette tape deck , and four (4) MC-500 bookshelf speakers all from RADIO SHACK !
I actually had a job interview at Circuit City. It was a large group of people too. I later found out the reason why there was so many people was because they had fired a large number of their "senior" workers and were trying to hire new people just so they could pay them less. Absolutely insane.
Absolutely insane that corporate office employees making well more than what they’re worth thinks it makes any logical sense to get rid of dedicated employees who know what they’re doing and make the company money just to save payroll dollars…was it worth losing dedicated employees in favor of high school dropout stoners that don’t give a $&@% Experience andcearning more for it should not be punished by termination considering how much you gave for the company
miss Toys R Us and KB Toys. very difficult to look for kids' toys these days without stores dedicated to them on the scale they carried. plus remembering how much of a treat it was to look at their shelves when i was younger
@@goofydxniMeaning that an official comeback just might be around the corner! I hope that happens! I long to take my soon-to-be-5-year-old niece to a Toys R Us store-and get her a bunch of toys, like any doting auntie!
Borders was my favorite bookstore next to Barnes & Noble when I was a kid. Went there so many times and bought plenty of books and movies. Miss it so much.
Me too. Let's just hope Barnes & Noble doesn't meet the same fate and go out of business, now that people are starting to read books online on their Iphones. Otherwise, we might not ever see a real book again at all.
Surprised Sears didn't make the list. I used their catalogs for my Christmas lists for years. It blew my mind when I learned you used to be able to order houses from them.
The last time I was in Sears the Kardashians had just put out their clothing line and 3 piece jewelry sets. All the Sears started closing like the next year😂😂
It was mentioned that there was only one Blockbuster left, but you failed to mention the two remaining Sam Goody stores still in existence. One of them is in my local mall. I truly miss the good old days though - our mall had a KB Toys, there was a Toy R Us outside the mall, close to an Ames. When I was younger and in a different area, my mom and I frequented Woolworth’s too. So much nostalgia in this video; makes me long for the times when I had less responsibility in my life.
One of the biggest Canadian shopping memories I have from the 80’s as a kid was Consumers Distributing. Nothing could beat looking through the catalogue, finding what you wanted, get excited about it and start saving for it, then going to the store and giving your item number….only to find out it’s not in stock 😂
Man, the thumbnail ALONE hit me right in the nostalgia. I grew up with a K.B Toys Store, Payless, RadioShack & a couple of Blockbuster stores in my hometown in Puerto Rico.
Actually "panita", I've had 13 / 20 of the stores in this list within 10 miles of my home in Metro San Juan: - SPORTS AUTHORITY (< 2 years) - WET SEAL* - COMP USA - KAY BEE TOYS* (❤❤) - PAYLESS SHOESOURCE* - THE SHARPER IMAGE - CIRCUIT CITY - FW WOOLWORTH* (the US version, not the existing AU / NZ supermarkets) - SAM GOODY'S - BORDERS - RADIO SHACK* - TOYS R' US - BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO* This list needed to include The Disney Store, now only available within earshot distance of their Parks and online... * in my hometown
@@TheBiologicalGamer - no joke, Payless was one of the "go-to" stores in the Island for "cheap shoes". Now we have to choose between the "weaker quality" of Humberto Vidal and La Gloria (founded by the 2 Vidal brothers) offerings or whatever is available at Walmart. Women have a bit more more choice as when Rainbow sells on clearance it goes into that "affordable price range".
I was surprised not to see KMART, MILLERS OUTPOST, & MONTGOMERY WARD on this list. Miss a lot of these stores. And there was another great book store at the mall I use to visit all the time, Waldens.😢
Wow, the Warner Brothers store. I was about 5 or 6, I went in there only once as a kid (I think it was just before they closed) and my parents bought me an RC Mystery Machine. I also remember hanging out at KB Toys while my mom and/or sister would shop around the mall. Good times.
I bought a pair of tshirts that had Looney Tunes characters in mugshots with their alleged crimes. The one for Daffy Duck was naturally "the unauthorized impersonation of a wabbit".
Just found your channel and I literally walked through my life and looked at all the places that are now gone. Some of them I wasn’t even aware that they went out of business. A special and unique era is no more.
I knew Blockbuster would be number one. Growing up, there was a location only 3-5 minutes (depending on traffic) away from my house and ever since we moved into that house when I was only 6 years old and found that location, we would go there once or twice EVERY SINGLE WEEK and would spend sometimes more than an hour there browsing through the huge store selecting a week’s worth of videos. I STILL have some DVDs that I even bought there once they started selling movies there too. When I heard they were going out of business, I was completely devastated because A LOT of my favorite movies and shows were discovered by the countless hours I spent there. So many fond memories at Blockbuster that I will NEVER FORGET as long as I live
When Border's closed I was devasted. I'm one of the few avid readers that actually reads an actual book. It's part of my growing up. Nothing like a good real book!!! Woolworths has given me many memories from shopping for Barbie doll outfits to lunch at the counter with grandma. Thank you for taking me down memory lane ❣️😊
People just don’t understand. It isn’t the same when you get music on Spotify or iTunes. A store that had posters on the wall, music playing in the background, and T-shirt racks added something to the community.
There was a record chain in the Atlanta area called Turtles. That was where I bought most of my records and tapes. They also had a Ticket Master location there.
The one place I miss is Woolworths department store. They had a soda fountain area in their store and once in a while (depending on how much mom had left after shopping) she would let me get a waffle ice cream cone.
Their number one rival was the W. T. Grant Co. They went under in the mid or late 70s. Their downfall came when they came out with their Bradford Appliance brand in an effort to compete with the big dept. stores. It was a big gamble, and it failed spectacularly, and that was the end.
Yes! The best one I ever saw was in downtown Dayton, OH where they had a nifty lunch counter where in the late '80s you could get a nice lunch for less than $2.00. I returned to Dayton in 2017 to find it had closed around '98 or so.
if you seperate the nostalgia factor, blockbuster was annoying af. the whole experience required way too much effort especially if you remember having to rewind VHS tapes.
I visited Radio Shack all of the time. I bought my first and second computers from there, worked there for three years, and continued to visit there a lot. I loved the gadgets and the electronic toys. And the catalogs and flyers were awesome!!
I'm living in another country for several years, nice memories come back watching this video. Getting my portable TV on RadioShack, shoes on Payless, gifts for little ones on ToyR US, clothes on Wet Seal, etc. I didn't know they were closed for good now.
I loved Sharper Image stores because they had quality (often very expensive) items found seemingly nowhere else. I remember a chess set under glass where the board was marble, the white pieces were ivory, and I don't remember about the back pieces, but it was all electronic. Type in the move you wanted to make and the pieces moved on their own (keep in ,mind this was the 1980s). It cost $3,000.
Yes I have shopped at Borders, yes I have shopped at Toys-R-Us, yes I have shopped at Circuit City, and yes I have shopped at RadioShack. The most familiar Borders location to me was in the Lycoming Mall at what is now Books-A-Million. My local RadioShack was in the Loyal Plaza in Loyalsock Township, PA.
I work for years for the Warner Bros Studio Stores in the mid to late 90s to the early 2000s in a total of 3 different stores. I started as a part time employee eventually moving up to a store manager. I was then recruited by Disney to come work for them. 6 months later, it was announced that the WBSS chain would close. I had gotten out in time with no knowledge of the closing. I worked at Disney for years and then Toys R Us. I was still working for TRU when they announced the closings, and eventually closed my store. Now all these years later, The Disney Store chain is also closed.
Wow wow wow! This video really brought back many memories!! I worked at Sports Authority and sadly within the year it got closed down. Teavana I used to see in the mall and had NO idea it was Starbucks! There was a Radio Shack AND a Toys R Us near my house during my high school days and sadly I remember going to both frequently. My mom would buy my shoes exclusively from Payless! Sad to see it go as well. Blockbuster was like a weekly trip with the family and we ALL got to choose a movie I remember that fond memory ❤ Last but not least the closing I will NEVER be able to overcome is the closing of Borders! 💔 I remember vividly going weekly at the LEAST to make some exciting purchases. My dad would take me and I just wouldn’t want to leave looking for an exciting new book to read! 😭😭
Surprisingly, there is one last Blockbuster store left in Bend, Oregon. The store still rents movies, and it serves as a monument to the once gigantic video rental brand brand.
Borders was my store! With my mom taking me there all the time it’s how I became a huge bookworm. I miss that place. Every time I hear the name it always brings back great memories. My mom loved Circuit City. It’s where we would mostly get our DVDs and it’s where I got my first Nintendo and the games. Too bad I lost the Nintendo years later😭.
As 90s kid, who’s about to be in his late 20s, this is very nostalgic. And by the way, I kinda knew that Blockbuster would be number 1 on this list cause I miss movie rental stores a lot.
I really miss Sam Goody’s, and Circuit City. Payless is another store that I miss. I used to work for Ames, and was even involved in the remodeling when they bought out Murphy Mart.
They had a Sam Goody in Petoskey, Michigan and I remember going there all the time with my dad while my mom was working at Walmart at the time. So many good memories
I used to work for Blockbuster as a Customer Service Representative, I was devastated when I got the call from the District Manager saying I was let go due to the news.
My friend was working at Blockbuster before they closed. He let me have a bunch of their huge posters.😂 We use to kick it in that store when he was closing. I would pull up and hang out with him for hours.
Thats so sad... i was so shocked when i went to the area i grew up in and saw the Mr video and Video Town had closed down.. i mean my older siblings use to go there when they were kids.. i even use to rent the ps1 and games for the weekend
Hearing about all these old stores makes me feel so old, but all part of my most fondest memories, especially Border's, that was my most favorite place to go, I could spend hours inside Border's because they carried all of my favorite paranormal romance authors and every time a new one came out, I was there to buy it from Border's, I just knew that they would have it first.
Almost had me about to cry thinking about KB toys, had so many memories going to the mall with my mom as a kid and only wanting to go to KB Toys and once I got inside the store it was like heaven on earth lol.
I worked at a Radio Shack in the late 90s. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of money for a 19 year old at the time. Lots of bonuses and such for selling cell phones and Directv dishes.
My wife and I were cleaning out our kitchen draws prior to moving out of New York a few months back and there was our old Block Buster ID card. It was like out of a time capsule. The local store closed over 13 years ago.
Even as a kid i remember going to video store and getting the 5 videos for 7 days special... made school holidays amazing. Have all the friends over for movie days and snacks
I also remember Borders from 2011 at the same mall mentioned and that store was pretty damn superb! Since the stores shut down including the one in Boise a decade ago it is now a T-Mobile retail store and next door some kind of ice cream shop
What about FAO Schwarz?? My childhood favourite toy store! Going in there was like magic especially during Christmas time. The store was like the classic high end toy store you'd always see in the movies! Huge teddy bears, huge laid out piano keys you could step on... Every corner was filled with toys and gadgets and stuff animals ☺️. All the holiday feelings when stepping into a FAO Schwarz... I was sad to see it leave my DT area. Not everyone wanted to shop at Toys R Us. That store was usually poorly organised and chaotic. There was a sense of wonder in FAO Schwarz...even if you didn't but anything. You went in there for the experience
I'm barely middle-aged but this video has made me feel a thousand years old! I grew up having shopped at all but two of these locations. I never thought I would feel nostalgic about electronics, home goods, and sporting supply stores. This has brought back vivid memories of a simpler time and the frequent debate I had with myself as to whether I should make a left and go to Best Buy or a right to Circuit City. Poor planning on the property owners' part, putting the stores next to each other. 😆 I still remember my mother's internal debate between Linens and Things and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Man I do miss my childhood and so many of these stores were a part of it. Kids nowadays will never understand what all of these stores were like. ❤❤😭Circuit City, Hollywood Video, Disney Store, Borders, and Blockbuster are among those I miss
I really miss Linens n Things, shopped there all the time. I liked Sharper Image for sure, loved their technology and work items. And Fry’s and Circuit City? Could spend a whole day there! Going back in time, I was devastated when Drug Emporium went under, but we now have Ulta so all good!
Teavana was one of my favorite joints for taste testing tea in the mall, broke my heart after a small gap in time I saw a different store. As well as CCS skateshop, met alot of people and had good memories. Oh, the times; They are a-changing
I will never stop wishing Woolworth’s was still around. It was such a treat to eat at their lunch counter as a kid. Not to mention the cartoon booths a kid could sit in and watch a cartoon for a nickel while the parents shopped.
I’ll admit this……The extinctions of Blockbuster, Toys R Us, Sears, Payless Shoes Store and RadioShack still hits me. If only I can go back in time and do it all over again. 😢
This makes me miss brick and mortar stores soooo much. There was something about walking into a store and smelling freshly sealed plastic and browsing for, sometimes, hours...
I miss Fry's Electronics, the stores were huge and had quirky themes like a Pyramid or the Wild West. Last time I was there was during the Bitcoin Rush so I was shocked that this Graphics card section was almost empty.
I was a Little Kid when I went to some of these stores. 1: COMP USA 2: KB Toys 3: Warner Bros. Studio Store 4: Circuit City 5: Kmart 6: blockbuster I am a 90s kid and so only the 1990s people who are my age or younger or even older will remember. RIP to these Stores However, on the side note, there was a Rumor a few years ago, in 2018 that after toys R Us Closure, that KB Toys was planned to make a Comeback, however, this Never happened, due to lack of proper funding to make this happened.
My husband had a Radio Shack laptop for his work as a newspaper journalist in the 1980’s. Sometimes after a late night event he needed to report on, he would write the story, then send it through our landline to the paper; one particular evening it took ten minutes to transmit - and showed up the next day as a two inch long, one column note. We were in awe! Oh, how things have changed; I am writing a comment on a TH-cam video on my iPad while expecting a call on my iPhone. :-)
Most of these stores I at least remember vaguely, but I have especially fond memories of Blockbuster, Toys R Us, K.B. Toys, the Warner Bros. Studio Store, Borders, and Tower Records. I wish they were still around.
Yes! And The Disney Store as well-I always loved shopping there, just as much as I loved shopping at Toys R Us and K-B Toys! I never went into a Warner Bros. Studio Store-‘cuz there weren’t any in the malls I frequented as a child. Same thing with Tower Records-there were no stores within easy access. I don’t remember actually going into a Blockbuster Video-my family and I, for the most part, bought movies at places like Walmart. But when we did rent a movie, it was usually at a mom-&-pop video rental store in our neighborhood. I never went to Borders-my family and I were-and still are-loyal fans of Barnes & Noble!
I miss Circuit City. And it looks like Best Buy might go the same way if they’re not careful. Tower Records came back as an online retailer, and they still exist in Japan due to being owned by a different entity.
@@qcorleone - Annoying as hell. BluRays have been cut to one aisle and a couple of square displays at mine. And they wonder why people are going to Amazon. I’ve been able to find some pretty obscure stuff there.

I used to love Ames. For such a small store they had everything there. My brother and I got our first Pokemon games there. We walked over to electronics and as soon as I seen it and showed him we both started spazzing. So my mom being the saint she is bought us the games red for me blue for my brother so we could trade each other once we got the link cable. Good times.
How on Earth do you not mention Sears or K-Mart, especially over stuff like Wet Seal or Ames or even Teavana?! I'm also surprised by the lack of mention for Media Play and/or Suncoast when talking about Sam Goody. Heck, no mention of Lionel Playworld, either. And Tower Records over Turtles?
Dang.. here in Oxnard California we had so many of these stores years ago. Blockbuster, Fry’s, Comp USA, KB Toys, Woolworth’s, RadioShack were here for sure. And I believe we also had circuit city and Sam goody. I have a lot of good memories of going to those stores 😔
A LOT of these stores bring back memories of my childhood, lol. As far as the stores I've gone to as a kid or shopped in as an adult, Woolworths, Toys R Us, KB Toys, Foot Locker, Circuit City, CompUSA, Borders, Radio Shack, (I'd buy electronic components from there by the bags), Sam Goody/FYE. I remember Wet Seal from my teen mall rat days, not to mention walking the aisles at Blockbuster on Friday nights looking for that one movie and video game rental. I'm surprised WatchMojo didn't mention FAO Schwartz - it was a HUGEEEEEE toy store in NYC. In fact, it was featured in Big, with Tom Hanks (the piano/Chopsticks scene)
Only early 90's kids remember excitement of KB toys. They had one in this mall when I was a kid and everytime I went with my mom I would always run to that store.
I have fond memories of KB Toys. I bought some of my favorite things there when I was a kid. Things like Fistful of Aliens, Rock Em' Sock Em' Robots with interchangeable parts, Primal Rage action figures, and so on. So many of the more abstract toys of my childhood came from them, and they helped shape my interests that have remained similar to this day so many years later. Hell, I always preferred going there over places like Toys R' Us, but I only got to go once in a blue moon because it was so much farther away than Toys R' Us, a local shopping mall, and other places with toys like K Mart and Walmart. It was in a small strip mall area, with several other stores at either side and across from it. I still remember the aisles from that KB Toys; three aisles with shelves reaching the ceiling, lined with toys for both boys and girls, heavier toys being at the very top and requiring a clerk to get them down, the counter and clerk directly to the left upon entering the shop with no metal detectors (Fellow Americans, remember those days?), and my favorite part of the store being the video game wall where everything was in a backlit shelf behind a door similar to the cold drinks at a 7-11. I miss KB Toys. It had so much more soul than other toy shops around my childhood home.
As an 80-90's kid going to the Mall used to be an EVENT. The Food Court, the arcade. Pointing and clicking isn't the same. I will ALWAYS be a KB Toys, Suncoast, Spencer's, Toys R' Us kid
@@pooky-bellegaming4089Same here - our mall is falling apart, but 90 miles away is a thriving mall which we visit every time we go there. We visit the outlet mall and the big retail mall.
I remember at my nearby mall, that there was a Sears, Borders (now a T.J. Maxx), and a K. B. (wasn’t into video games at the time). I don’t know if you know WatchMojo but Toys R Us is back in the United States as a store in Macy’s.
Wow, what a tour in memory lane. I shopped on most of these stores, specially Tower Records in NYC. KB Toys, Whoolworths, A&P, CompUSA, Circuit City, Payless, Ames, Sports Authority , Sam Goody, Border's, Toys R Us, Crazy Eddie's was another i frequently visited. Radio Shack was my RC cars store. I miss these store's. Blockbuster Video killed by streaming and mail in DVD's. Sad story to the best store's ever. Btw, in Puerto Rico Toys R Us became Toy's For Us.
G.C. Murphy & Co was similar to Woolworth in that they were known for a wide variety of low cost items- IIRC they were advertised as a 5 & 10 cent store.
I miss Borders. It was my hangout place back in the day. It had a much better selection of books, music and magazines than Barnes and Noble. There was plenty of space to spread out and sit and read and enjoy exploring for hours. Now, if need to go to a bookstore, I go into Barnes and Noble, get what I need and then leave.
This list is making me totally nostalgic. Ames! And I LOVED Payless Shoes! Cheap shoes and they lasted forever. That one was a bummer, I used to get all my shoes there. And I used to work at a Blockbuster Video in 2001.
I miss going to many of these places. Warner Bros Store, Toys R Us, Circuit City, Borders, and Blockbuster among others. One of the local Blockbusters in my hometown was turned into 3 fast food restaurants and each I time I look at that building, remember what could be found in each section: Chipotle is in the section that had this kids movies and video games; Wing Stop is where the checkout/return counter and retail videos were; and Flame & Skewers is where all the comedies, horror, action-adenture, musical, suspense, and drama films were.
Omg I loved going to the flagship Warner Bros. Studio Store in NYC on 5th Avenue! I was a teenager when it opened in 1993. I remember in its first few years the store was 5 floors. Then they massively expanded to 11 floors! 😮 The additional upper floors were smaller than the lower levels but it would be an epic journey going through that whole store. I would usually start at the very top and work my way down. It was a mini amusement park in NYC to me. My favorite floor was the gallery floor with the animation cells and figures. I would spend a long time there looking at the many pieces and reading their descriptions. It was fascinating seeing the cells from iconic cartoons and wow-ing at their price tags. They had a 3D theater in there that played a Daffy and Marvin the Martian film short. You would get spritzed with water during some scenes.
When I worked in a mall, I would always go to Teavana and the team there would steep a nice, fresh cup of tea for me. Hell, I still use some Teavana branded tea tins. I will forever miss them, but I have since found a new tea house to frequent.
I remember I used to look forward going to Borders whenever I visit Singapore and while it was in Australia. I could spend HOURS in there. Too bad it’s closed now but thank goodness I have other bookstores to go to. I loved going to Toysrus as a child when my dad would allow me and my brother to pick any toy we like for our birthday presents every year. I mostly do online shopping but I still see some pretty good deals there. And yes, Blockbuster, we had an outlet back in Sydney near our apartment but it’s closed now. A shame.
I do miss Blockbuster Video and I still even have my card for them. I was surprised though the most when Toys R Us said they were closing all their stores
Blockbuster and Toys r Us definitely hit the nostalgic feeling button. Back when I was carefree, didn't have to really work, and pain-free in the body.
I really enjoyed Teavana. Not only for their teas, but their cups and pots! I hope I'm able to keep the few pieces I got from them for a long time. As a teen, I loved visiting Borders. I'd buy a new book and then get a coffee at Seattle's Best.

Seems like your best days were behind you lol 😂
TOYS R US IS BACK BRO
Ok
I actually had a job interview at Circuit City. It was a large group of people too. I later found out the reason why there was so many people was because they had fired a large number of their "senior" workers and were trying to hire new people just so they could pay them less. Absolutely insane.
Goes to show everyone is REPLACEABLE, no matter how much skill you have or how long you've been there.
This world can be an unfair place at times.
I was one of those people. 14 years of service..
Wow.
Absolutely insane that corporate office employees making well more than what they’re worth thinks it makes any logical sense to get rid of dedicated employees who know what they’re doing and make the company money just to save payroll dollars…was it worth losing dedicated employees in favor of high school dropout stoners that don’t give a $&@%
Experience andcearning more for it should not be punished by termination considering how much you gave for the company
miss Toys R Us and KB Toys. very difficult to look for kids' toys these days without stores dedicated to them on the scale they carried. plus remembering how much of a treat it was to look at their shelves when i was younger
Makes you wonder why exactly they all failed…
Toys R Us is doing pretty well now, valued at over 1.3 billion in the US
@@goofydxniMeaning that an official comeback just might be around the corner!
I hope that happens! I long to take my soon-to-be-5-year-old niece to a Toys R Us store-and get her a bunch of toys, like any doting auntie!
Target and Walmart are too blame. Just not the same anymore. Dedicated toy stores had a magical presence.
I hear you I shop Amazon for my niece and nephew
Borders was my favorite bookstore next to Barnes & Noble when I was a kid. Went there so many times and bought plenty of books and movies. Miss it so much.
As far as bookstores go, I mostly remember B.Dalton and Waldenbooks in my local mall
Me too. Let's just hope Barnes & Noble doesn't meet the same fate and go out of business, now that people are starting to read books online on their Iphones. Otherwise, we might not ever see a real book again at all.
There was a Borders store close to where I live. I used to walk there all the time. But now they closed it and it became a Trader Joe’s store.
The inside of borders looks like backrooms
Surprised Sears didn't make the list. I used their catalogs for my Christmas lists for years. It blew my mind when I learned you used to be able to order houses from them.
The last time I was in Sears the Kardashians had just put out their clothing line and 3 piece jewelry sets. All the Sears started closing like the next year😂😂
Used to pour over their catalogues as a kid/teen ( I’m now 20)
There’s still some around. I know of one in Braintree, Massachusetts & it’s the last one I’ve seen in the state.
@@brownbeautyxoxo7442 hahahaha😂
And back in the early days, they also sold cars when you could buy one for 5 or 600 dollars.

I do miss Sam Goody. I remember going there and buying CD's. The feel of opening those new CD's was truly unforgettable. Loved that store so much.
One of the biggest Canadian shopping memories I have from the 80’s as a kid was Consumers Distributing. Nothing could beat looking through the catalogue, finding what you wanted, get excited about it and start saving for it, then going to the store and giving your item number….only to find out it’s not in stock 😂
Indeed so many memories of buying Transformers gi joe and LEGO there
Man, the thumbnail ALONE hit me right in the nostalgia. I grew up with a K.B Toys Store, Payless, RadioShack & a couple of Blockbuster stores in my hometown in Puerto Rico.
El Payless 😭😭😭
@@TheBiologicalGamer I know the feeling, buddy. I grew up buying my shoes at Payless.
Actually "panita", I've had 13 / 20 of the stores in this list within 10 miles of my home in Metro San Juan:
- SPORTS AUTHORITY (< 2 years) - WET SEAL* - COMP USA - KAY BEE TOYS* (❤❤) - PAYLESS SHOESOURCE*
- THE SHARPER IMAGE - CIRCUIT CITY - FW WOOLWORTH* (the US version, not the existing AU / NZ supermarkets)
- SAM GOODY'S - BORDERS - RADIO SHACK* - TOYS R' US - BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO*
This list needed to include The Disney Store, now only available within earshot distance of their Parks and online...

Yeah, KB toys was my excitement when I went to my family at the Mayaguez Mall in my childhood. Good times.
I was surprised not to see KMART, MILLERS OUTPOST, & MONTGOMERY WARD on this list. Miss a lot of these stores. And there was another great book store at the mall I use to visit all the time, Waldens.😢

Waldenbooks was the mall arm of Borders. When one went, they both did.
They had a rival in the Disney Store. I imagine they've gone under as well.
I still have a sweatshirt and a marvin the martian plush toy I bought there . Loved that store
An RC Mystery Machine! Nice!
KB Toys, Toys R Us, Wet Seal, Radio Shack, Brookstone, Payless Shoes, The Sharpener Image, Media Play, and Limited Too were my favorites
As a 90's kid this video brings nostalgia.

Believe it or not, Barbados still has Woolworth, RadioShack and Payless stores up and going strong.
I remember shopping at K-Mart ,Radio Shack an Sears back in the day .When I was a kid.I miss those stores so much.
I miss record stores so much because I really spent many hours listening to music in record stores when I was a teenager back in the good old 1980's
People just don’t understand. It isn’t the same when you get music on Spotify or iTunes. A store that had posters on the wall, music playing in the background, and T-shirt racks added something to the community.

You are absolutely right
There was a record chain in the Atlanta area called Turtles. That was where I bought most of my records and tapes. They also had a Ticket Master location there.
The one place I miss is Woolworths department store. They had a soda fountain area in their store and once in a while (depending on how much mom had left after shopping) she would let me get a waffle ice cream cone.
And a damn cafe, where only little people worked
Their number one rival was the W. T. Grant Co. They went under in the mid or late 70s. Their downfall came when they came out with their Bradford Appliance brand in an effort to compete with the big dept. stores. It was a big gamble, and it failed spectacularly, and that was the end.
I was always hungry in Woolworth.
Yes! The best one I ever saw was in downtown Dayton, OH where they had a nifty lunch counter where in the late '80s you could get a nice lunch for less than $2.00. I returned to Dayton in 2017 to find it had closed around '98 or so.
As a 30 sum year old, I had to pour out a shot in memory of toys r us and blockbuster. Many a good times at both! 😭
How’s old are you now?
if you seperate the nostalgia factor, blockbuster was annoying af. the whole experience required way too much effort especially if you remember having to rewind VHS tapes.
Got to shop at an actual Tower Records a couple months ago in Japan. They are still going STRONG over there with multiple huge stores.
Payless and toys r us still exist in the Philippines.
It cost $3,000.
they still have those in outlet malls and at the airports
They still exist online. I buy some good products from them.

What is paranormal romance I am intrigued

KB Toys, Sanrio Surprises, and The Disney Store were my favorite mall shops when I was a little girl.
I worked at a Radio Shack in the late 90s. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of money for a 19 year old at the time. Lots of bonuses and such for selling cell phones and Directv dishes.

I remember working at McDonalds in my teens and they give out free Payless Shoes coupons to buy non-slip shoes. The memories…☺️🥺
This video was depressing AF! Damn, I feel old as shit now. I remember going to almost every store on this list. Sad 😢
A shame.
TOYS R US IS BACK BRO
I do miss Blockbuster Video and I still even have my card for them. I was surprised though the most when Toys R Us said they were closing all their stores
Blockbuster and Toys r Us definitely hit the nostalgic feeling button. Back when I was carefree, didn't have to really work, and pain-free in the body.
I really enjoyed Teavana. Not only for their teas, but their cups and pots! I hope I'm able to keep the few pieces I got from them for a long time.
As a teen, I loved visiting Borders. I'd buy a new book and then get a coffee at Seattle's Best.
I remember blockbuster nights were awesome as a kid
my sister and i always loved going there alot
Indeed they were.
