Great video! Ive constantly wanted to do barbering after my partner became a hairdresser! Seeing the passion and pleasure she gets out of her work makes me want to be able to have the same experience! And to help people the way she does! It'says been something ive wanted to do but have been too scared to take the plunge! Your video has really helped open my eyes to the life of a barber! 👍👍👍
Great video, one thing I would say is when you talk about needing to get better at talking to people, some people like me quite enjoy the silence instead of pointless small talk, it's about judging the customer if he wants to talk or not, reading people is a great tool
good video mate i've found this helpful. As i'm considering starting a barber coarse at a barber academy, but i was wondering where to actually start afterwards.
This is a great, informative video. I don’t really know what I wanna do with my life I’m currently 17 and trying to decide what I actually wanna do and it’s difficult because I’m not passionate about much due to mental health issues however barbering would be awesome but I didn’t know where to start. You’ve helped me to figure out how to begin and I’m seriously gonna consider it as a career path, thank you for the advice brother
Danny Savage My only real drawback is the college I currently go to only offers a hairdressing course rather than a barbering course and from what I’ve seen the only people who do that hairdressing course are chavvy obnoxious girls and that wouldn’t be a great environment
If its barbering you want then I recommend doing a dedicated course. They are quite different skills hairdressing and barbering. I experienced some annoying people when I did my course 7 years ago, but as long as you keep your head down and just focus on your own progression itll be fine :)
Danny Savage I’ve just checked and it’s actually a “hair and beauty” course so that’ll be makeup and stuff too.. might have to look into a different college or an apprenticeship
I’m gonna do a apprenticeship next year. I’m 15 I have to be 16 I think to get into college and I wanna be a barber for a few years now so next year I can hopefully learn
I appreciate this is a couple years old now.. But I've only just come across this as I'm thinking of a career change. I will admit, I'm nervous about the prospect but this video definitely helped!! I'm currently 33 and will be going to college in September to learn something BRAND NEW!! Is there somewhere I can pick your brain during the year at all, Instagram etc??
This is a very motivational video for me, I live in the UK and I'm trying to get into bartering mainly because it's a easier way to make some money, also I'm literally transforming people's hair (i like to think so anyway ;) ) but this is one of the first videos of how to be a barber I watched and because you said you have a charisma issue or you said if you're in a bad mood you'll be able to tell, so I came down to the comments to see what's being said about that, I would say mate just take it easy, end of the day everyone will go home to bed and wake up the next day, being in a bad mood will never change anything so try to stay positive if you know what I mean. Other than that mate i really enjoyed the video and it is a very helpful video i really feel like i learned a load from the video. I'm subscribing mate and I'll like ofcourse. Thank you!
Also you're a helpful guy so never doubt yourself you're awesome bro. I would say your day wont change just because you didnt chat to someone when you cut their hair, I think some people just want the cut and maybe don't have much interest for a nice conversation, but you could start a cheeky conversation with someone if you just can't help it. Haha. Thanks for the video again mate!!
Cheers for this great video.l done 3 years in hairdressing and then went on 2 modeling and never compleated my hairdressing training l am very intrested in compleating a barbers course in Dublin.. Mabe to open my own salon .At 45 now i hate the idea of training with school leavers ..what do you think .can you recomend a course in Dublin
Firstly, great video, you should consider stand-up if you decide on a career change :) Secondly, i went to check your other videos, and seems you no longer post? How come? I too am looking into barbering, and this video has helped tons! So thanks.
Thanks for your kind comment. Few things have stopped me making videos, most recent is moving house etc. But I do intend to start again in the future :)
interesting video. im 58 unemployed from the hospitality industry and looking for a career change, i wonder if a career as a barber would be too late at my age?? is there much age discrimation in this field??
Looking to go down the college route in September, as apps haven’t opened yet for my local college for the nvq2 course, little question though. I don’t have a maths gcse, a c in English and science. Do you need any gcses at all to do the college route? Only thing I’m worried about when I apply for my nvq2 course and they reject me because of that.. if you or anyone could answer would be helpful cheers 😊
A lot of the time, there's no requirements for an NVQ2 in barbering, and if there is, they will provide you with the ability to get the qualifications you need.
Hi Danny, what would you say is the best place to do a barber course in the UK? I’m looking at London school of barbering as the local college near me doesn’t offer a course. Thank you
Hey, il be honest... Literally the only place I wouldn't recommend is LSB. A lot of people don't rate them. I personally havent experienced them, but going on other recommendations, I wouldn't go there. Best place I can say would probably be menspire. But you pay alot for it. I'm hoping to do one of their courses this year or next :)
@@dannysavage8218 Sweet man, thank you for your advice. I've heard a few bad things about LSB now. Mike Taylor's education academy looks really good. Will check out menspire too!
It's hard to comment as I dont know what special needs you have, but you can adapt alot of things with barbering. Being 30 is not at all a factor. You can learn at any age as long as you have the passion. :) feel free to message me if you have any questions. Danny_savage_barber is my instagram. Have a good day :)

kinda late but great video needed this
My introverted self watching this 🤕
Are the any educational requirements to enter a barber school
Jesi the border collie, nope. You don’t need any qualifications. Especially if it’s a private course rather than a college. 👍👍👍
Thanks
Did they ask you about your GCSEs when you went to collage ?
Jesi the border collie no, neither did we do any maths or English on the course!
I have special needs but want to be a barber at 30 any advice please?

Lol stupid. Hahaha "you just can't walk up and watch a barber cut...." lol that be a funny skit. Lol

Most courses are for 16+ but you dont need any qualifications to start a barber course 👍👍
