I finally was able to afford a pair of wahl designers and my brother got me the wahl legend combo pack with the hero trimmer for Christmas. All I need is a detachable blade clipper now, mainly to work on my timing. I’ve been a student of the barber game for a while now. God bless all the TH-cam barbers sharing there knowledge to us.
cutting out my apartment and have a decent clientele for my weekends, but working full time and barbering weekends. It’s tough bc I don’t have a license and living by myself in Cali ain’t no joke. School too expensive and takes too much time. May have to move back home and live rent free to get my license 🥺😂
Hey boss! Idk which part of Cali you live in but I live in Fresno. There’s a school called IOT and they have a barbering course that has the most realistic payment ever. I don’t go there but I know a buddy that does and he pays $80 a month for 8/10 years to go full time but they allow you to pay more. Compared to me when I downed 3k and did $500 a month. Goodluck tho boss and I hope you pursue your passion 🙏🙏🙏
Tell Mom or Dad to help pay for school and that would be a present they can give you so you can start Good in life.i would help my kids ...or try to get a school loan...good luck .
Just recently started my apprenticeship, and I've found that the Smith King shear sets from Amazon are fantastic quality for the price. I've kept busy. They were $30, and I've only started having issues 6 months later.
Was working landscape with my dad and was always miserable all day started cutting hair and it made me happy excited jus by looking at my progress🙏inspiration to trying and making this a full time thing
I’m a 13 yr old barber and I just got my first 2 clients one my best friend second my lil brother and I just also got a babyliss sliver fx and I hope someday I be like Vic blends

All across Canada (all provinces) require 10 months school and 10 months apprenticeship and then you can write your government exam. So over regulated, most barbers work unlicensed. Not to mention the entire school program is salon stylist based and covers maybe 2 weeks of barbering total.
At 31 when I started I was very misguided. Lucky enough for me I had old friends that was all about barbering. My school was barely a school but it took student loans. Like the opportunity was that I got a paper. It was up to me to grow this. I have worked my ass off hungry to learn. I’m noooo where near where I wanna be but I’m on my way I have the start. You fail you fail on your own. You all got this!!!
Starting my barber journey .. after two years of college . Deciding it wasn’t for me , being in construction making $31 an hr decided it wasn’t for me either because I couldn’t see myself doing it till I’m 50+. Always had an interest in being a barber but was too afraid to mess up. Now that’s over and I’m confident in my ability to learn and practice , obtaining as much knowledge as I can from TH-cam etc.. For now my plan is to work a regular job while learning and practicing cuts on friends . Eventually being comfortable enough in my ability as a beginner barber. Then I’ll enroll into a barber school to get more knowledge and training to become licensed. Hopefully by the time I’m licensed I’ll have enough experience and ability to work in a shop gaining more clients and honing my skills. But for now videos like these are the best for learning on my own ! Thanks for the great explanation on essential tools for a great setup . Will check out the rest of your videos.. if anyone has any recommendations or tips to starting my barber journey I’m willing to take that advice! .. I know how much of this journey depends on my ambition to become better and better.
I have some advice for you, take a fucking breath man, you are way over thinking everything. What’s the saying, “life happens when you making plans for life”. Anyways, you sound young and still quite inexperienced in life, and as a former teacher, I can tell you that your brain is still developing and will until almost 30, mostly impulse stuff from frontal lobe, but in general if you are in early your 20’s, most of what you think you know about life, or the world is wrong. For example, if you are working construction at moment, and making $31 an hour, but see no future in that cuz your body will be ruined by 50, from the manual labor I guess I what you are implying? Ok, well you are already making double the wage of an actual entry level laborer, many of who are legal migrant visa workers from Mexico, who literally will do backbreaking manual labor until it cripples their body later in life, bin which case they will be discarded w/ no disability compensation, or social security, nothing even though they paid income tax like the rest of us. But, that’s not you, your making over 30 dollars an hour, and if you just quit college after 2 years, you must be relatively new to construction, so you either are in a Union, employed by the state, local or fed gov (which would also be union job, unless you in the south or red state) or you work construction for your family, or you are actually older more experience skilled construction worker, like mason, heavy machine operator, framer….I have no idea, but my point is if you start out in construction business at young age, say early 20’s, and your already making $31 an hour, by time you are 50, not only will you be making a lot higher wage, you will also have accumulated a lot of knowledge, wealth, and occupational wisdom…meaning you are probably working for yourself as a builder, a general contractor, or be a Forman and run a crew of guys…your not going to be the migrant worker who literally will work himself till his body breaks down. Unless of course your an alcoholic, or drug addict who never advance in his career because he was a loser…but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I guess my advice to you is, you don’t know shit yet about the real world, because you are still a young man who has yet to gain a lot of life experience. If I was you, I’d keep barbershop stuff as a fun little hobby… I know though, the pandemic struck, everyone had to become their own barber for a while, and so we all watched TH-cam videos in how to cut our own hair, or our family’s hair, thus all these bad-ass barbers make video’s of what they can do, and its like the coolest shit ever…I can watch guys getting killer fades by these talented Barbers, who are genuine artist when it comes to these elaborate amazing looking fades, and undercut fades, and line designs and crazy colors, etc, etc etc….but guess what, every damn barber I go to, in rural/suburban Michigan apparently has never watch one these videos because I’ve yet to get a sweet ass undercut drop fade by one of them, instead I get a shity half ass haircut that looks worse than when I came in. Now, for this reason alone, I want to open my own damn barbershop and give guys awesome fades, women too, and mix up some killer colors, like diver or pink or platinum… hell, my shop is going to have tattoo parlor in it as well, and I’m going to sell boutique handmade custom jewelry too….it’s sounds like such a fun business to own, and like they say, do what you live never work a day in your life…however, I’m here to stomp on your dreams, because I almost assure you that if you go ahead with your, timid, long drawn out slow, indivisible plan you laid out in your comment, you will never be going to barber school, you’ll lose interest in the 2022 barber fad, and you will probably go on to have a succeful career in the construction business. Then, like most Americans, you will marry a girl who is already fat, or who will become fat abd ugly by time she’s 30, and everyday you wake up you’ll pray to god she don’t demand you fuck her fat ugly, because all you want to do is jerk off to some porn and go to work, so you can escape the hell your home life has become, with 3 nagging and disrespectful kids, a fat ugly wife…haha, ok man I see it all the time, if that was ever my life I’d put a gun to my head. I stayed clear of that trap, no kids, no fat wife…and most important, I took incredibly good care of myself, i eat to live, not other way around…I stayed fit, mentally, emotionally, and physically…and I’m 46, but I look over 10 years younger than I peers, so while being an educator is not physically demanding, I still never have to worry about my body being worn down from physically working myself to the bone, like you seem to Believe will happen to you in the construction business by age 50, but like I tried to make clear, is not a likely thing you have to worry about, unless you yourself live an incredibly unhealthy lifestyle. And if that’s the case, you better make some changes, because if you treat your body like shit, that’s what your life will become later on. You only get one life, one body, try to take that seriously while your still young, that’s my advice to you. Oh one more thing, 2 years of college is not waste of time. The first 2 years you are working on your general education credits. This is the stuff everyone is required to take, like English composition 1 &2…intro to Pychocolgy, PolySci, us history college algebra, and speech 101…these may seem like things you don’t need and are a waste and have no benefit in real world, but that is simply not true. Right now, our country is in crisis, because a large percentage of Americans have little to no critical thinking skills, have no communication skills, are easily manipulated with misinformation which they themselves than pass on to others….as someone who has studied, researched, and taught history and politics, 35% of the country has lost their fucking minds, with their cultish worship of an authoritarian like Trump, who is such a narcissistic, petty, thin skinned, woefully Ignorant pathetic example of a human being…
Bro that’s exactly my situation rn I just moved to australia I’m 19 and got not idea what I wanna do but I got a chance to choose a career we got free courses over here for trade jobs. The courses mostly start next year so I’m working to settle in, get a car, etc. I’ve been in hella construction, warehouse and factory jobs, was about to go to university and do a electrical course, just thought it’s good money, got really no passion for it. Can’t see myself working hard asf till I’m old. So I think ima go do a barber course. U got instagram bro?? Be good to share advice etc
So far in all my TH-cam holes I’ve fallen in, you’re my favorite barber to follow. I would be grateful if I ever had a chance to contact you and pick your brain. I’m currently in the military, and still have several years before I retire, but I’ve really been thinking about barbering for a while. I’ve been cutting my own hair for like 9 years now(all different types of lengths over the time). I try to avoid cutting others hair right now, simply because I don’t want to mess it up and I know how important haircut is when you have to look a certain way in the Marines. Also depends on how well you do at the club that weekend sometimes. But I legit enjoy your videos man. Thanks for posting what you do!
You're right Chris, I'm a student Barber and my Barber school does minimal on fading and men stuff. Focus on woman More. I've had to watch your videos as well as others to educate myself on better technique's so I'll be able to elevate myself. What y'all do doesn't go for granted 💈
Idk about everyone else but I’m loving these new vlogs and all the gems you’re dropping. Coming from a new barber they’re ereally helping me level up. Thanks bro 🙏🏼🔥
I’m new in the barbershop and the guys around me always say i have to stop doubting myself. I’ve done solid fades but I’m inconsistent. Mental game is important.
Respect Man, Great info and very humble. I started cutting hair 8-9 years ago as a joke when my wife needed her hair cut and colored. She couldn’t get into her normal girl who was on vacation for a month so as a joke I said I’ll do it! Her response, “Hahaha you are touching my hair!” I laughter and said ok then wait the month till your girl comes back! So a week later she said ok go ahead and do it but you better not F it up! So off to Walmart to get their best clipper set, comb, sheers, and box color! Came home and watched about 20 TH-cam videos and off I went to cut and color her hair! I’m a type A personality who will try just about anything....building a house, drag racing, chess, sports, building motorcycles etc. so why not, what is the worst thing that can happen doing a cut and color on the Mrs? Ok so if I did F it up then she will be passed w busted up hair that will grow back and she might cut me off for a few days!? So I did the cut and color and she LOVED IT, and I mean LOVED IT! So now it’s been 8-9 years as I mentioned and I do her hair, my kids, coworkers, her coworkers, friends, and my own! I have professional tools and a nice chair. I work full time as a business manager at a auto dealership for the past 20 years but am highly considering this being some added $$ into my retirement! I love it....
Chris please do a video next on opening a shop what goes into it, places to get chairs, lights, stations, people to cut for the shop, the music you prefer to play. How much average cost is , how long till u start seeing real income. Tysmmmmmmmm
There are days when I'm out of time, nobody's available & I have a big event so I grab my clippers, grab my mirror hit the restroom & get to cutting, at first it took me about 2 hours but I can get it done in about 15, 20 minutes now, worth the time & sacrifice... advice, when starting off dont do it on special days like weddings & things like that just do it on a regular week when you have nothing coming up, maybe I just need better time management but I don't regret learning that skill, Much love tho Chris your an inspiration in the Barber industry & in a business sense as well 💯🙏
Chris 'THE BOSS' Bossio!! I've always had a passion for cutting hair, but i since i began watching your videos, i wanna become a full time barber and be the best i can be. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge man and also the inspirational and motivational words my brother!
I did barber school in Mexico and they gave me a wahl designer and a peanut no lie and some 20 dollar shears and thinners which I still use haha but they've payed for everything else I've bought throughout
i got and still is interested in barbering, but i let fear get in the way and now that i want to become a barber 50% of the excitement is gone and the other 50% enjoys it. I wish i didnt let fear change how i once felt....DON'T LET FEAR STOP YOU!
Been in the game for a minute; what's funny Chris is the way barbering has transitioned the most important tool for me now is my shear and my comb. Had someone told me this 10 years ago, I would of definitely laughed at them. As barbers we gotta keep growing; years ago it was all tight fades; designs; etc. If you haven't educated yourself to todays standards your far behind even with the time in the game. Awesome content as usual Chris, beginner barbers should pay more attention to videos similar to this; then the actual cutting videos. As a beginner this will take you further.
Learning to cut hair as we speak! And been lookin for alot of guidance videos and this by far is the most motivating and helpful. Appreciate the positive info !
Thanks bro. I'm currently behind the fence and looking to get my license once I get out and make a career out of it. It's videos like this that keep me motivated
Love when people invest time not only in themselves but in helping others. Thank you for the vids...you've been keeping that TH-cam algorithm busy with of this content. Keep it up! 🙌
I agree with the money vs time but for me...my family owned two shops growing up so I learned how to cut at 12-13. I'm now 35 and most barbers aren't as good as me. And the ones that are better than me aren't that much better than me to justify sitting in a chair.
I dont knownif you will ever see this but I really want to chat with you about helping people succeed in the same field you're in. Your actually giving advice realistic advice shit is nuts. I'd come and meet you in person but the military has different plans for me, stay up bro God bless
Im cutting in my basement right now and I’ve been cutting without a license for onlu a year but honestly your a big inspiration and I love all your videos bro makes me wanna be the best barber I can hopefully become 💪🏽💪🏽
Neck tapes, very cheap, but definitely a must, separates the skin from the cape. People don’t like touching something that’s been sweated on by others.
Thank you!!! You are really humble and really helping us! God bless you , and to everyone passionate for this career, keep going!!! Keep practicing , you will get better and better!
Buffdabarber looking swole bro I’m a fan of lifting bodybuilding I’m transitioning in life wanting to personal train and cut hair do you do these two in conjunction with one another
I cut my own hair but I like doing it, I spent time and money on getting good at it so it's become a hobby and whenever a friend or family member asks for a cut I get more practice because it's not my head, I know my hair as I've been cutting for about 12 years.
Dope content! Keep up the hustle! I’ve cut my own hair for 15 years to save $. Cuts cost $15-40 a cut, I cut my hair every week. Saved around 1k per year times 15... doesn’t take me, even when I started, 2 hours and I can cut it at 12 midnight if I choose. I hear what you’re saying but don’t knock ppl for trying to save some cash
Great video. The current situation made me cut my hair for the first time and I enjoyed it. Took 1hr and half. Normally takes me 3 hours round trip to go to my barber's. Going to do my own from now on.
I’m 17 and ready to graduate so I can start barber school. I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and I’m confident that’s this is what I want. I’m really nervous though since I know NOTHING about cutting hair
Ppreciate you for guiding us to the right way ! I’m 19 cutting hair for 4+ years now. Tour content is essential. You forgot about hand held mirrors🤷🏽♂️
I have no idea why am I watching this, I have my own shop and full calendar. But I also wish knew more when I started. You do great job for people who intrest barbering, and want start cutting hair. Thanks Chris. Fun fact, in Poland where I come from, people associate 'Barber Shop' more with cutting beard than hair.
I'm a cosmetology student but I am thinking about taking the barber class once I graduate. ThankS for all the great tips. My favorite clippers are the BaByliss pro RoseFx, I just got them and I gave my husband an amazing fade. I used to hate doing men's cuts.
Thinking bout starting me a channel bro....been with you and Jeezy since jus about the beginning. Finally decided to get my license after years of cutting.
I'm 47 and from the Caribbean where there are no barber schools, so it's the university of TH-cam for my education... Thanks again chris

I went to hair school but I’m starting barbering now. Sucks cause in hair school we don’t really go over men’s cutting. I did 1 men’s cut in my school career, but the tools were decent.
Going to school in September thanks man you’ve been a big inspiration watching you over the years
I’m 20 started cutting hair when I was 13, 7 years ago and never went to barber school, all thanks to TH-cam watching just videos
And women!😊 I’m in school now and STILL discouraged on the technical part of a man’s cut..ugggh..but these videos definitely help me!
I get mad sometimes not seeing at least 3.2 million Subscribers on your channel you give to much info n inspiration Bro Tomb45 4life🙏
Thankfully my mother is a now retired professional barber and most the stuff I need I can get from her because she said she’d give it to me
Thanks man I’m 16 wanting to become a barber and maybe going to barber school soon I barely started like 1 month ago cutting my friend and brother hair and watching videos on how to get better but yours are really explained
This is my favorite barber video so far. I love your real ness!!!!!!!!!!
@@joseramirez-cc1mz u think the titan is better than the octane?
cutting out my apartment and have a decent clientele for my weekends, but working full time and barbering weekends. It’s tough bc I don’t have a license and living by myself in Cali ain’t no joke. School too expensive and takes too much time. May have to move back home and live rent free to get my license 🥺😂
But big fan, Chris. I’m tryna link with tomb45 👀
Man I felt that especially living in Cali 🤦🏾♂️
Jeremiah Collins what’d you end up doing?
Just recently started my apprenticeship, and I've found that the Smith King shear sets from Amazon are fantastic quality for the price. I've kept busy. They were $30, and I've only started having issues 6 months later.
Was working landscape with my dad and was always miserable all day started cutting hair and it made me happy excited jus by looking at my progress🙏inspiration to trying and making this a full time thing
I’m a 13 yr old barber and I just got my first 2 clients one my best friend second my lil brother and I just also got a babyliss sliver fx and I hope someday I be like Vic blends
You look at least 35 on your profile picture and also very mean.

I'm gonna start in a few months, I'm going to school to get my license, thank you for the video bro.
Literally the biggest inspiration in my life right now, started watching about a year and a half ago and have watched damn near every video since, thank you for teaching me almost everything I know and for providing so much education for not just barbering but life in general 🙏💯

All across Canada (all provinces) require 10 months school and 10 months apprenticeship and then you can write your government exam. So over regulated, most barbers work unlicensed. Not to mention the entire school program is salon stylist based and covers maybe 2 weeks of barbering total.
i’m 15 , and i’m tryna make money already , my barber told me that if i start learning right now , in a year i can work at the same barbershop as him
At 31 when I started I was very misguided.
Hows its going bro?
Every bullet was straight to the point ‼️
Respect brother. U give advice around not only how to be good, but how to grow. Real mentor attributes.#Respect
A much needed video. You and Jeezy inspire me to keep on barbering and keep getting better at it.
Sam thx for the feedback means a lot
I’m new in the barbershop and the guys around me always say i have to stop doubting myself. I’ve done solid fades but I’m inconsistent.
Mental game is important.
Reacher420 being comfortable is very important and relaxed
Stop comparing your work to the other barbers.. (if you do that)
Facts ! I took a 7 day break and came back and did some very ass fades, eventually got my confidence back but I’ll never do that again
Dead ass prolly the best video I’ve watched on starting out as a barber.. much love bru appreciate 🤝
I'm so done selling my energy, mind and time for money, this is the real hustle
Chris please do a video next on opening a shop what goes into it, places to get chairs, lights, stations, people to cut for the shop, the music you prefer to play. How much average cost is , how long till u start seeing real income. Tysmmmmmmmm
I'm starting a barber program in December at my local beauty school. Excited for this new chapter in my life
There are days when I'm out of time, nobody's available & I have a big event so I grab my clippers, grab my mirror hit the restroom & get to cutting, at first it took me about 2 hours but I can get it done in about 15, 20 minutes now, worth the time & sacrifice... advice, when starting off dont do it on special days like weddings & things like that just do it on a regular week when you have nothing coming up, maybe I just need better time management but I don't regret learning that skill, Much love tho Chris your an inspiration in the Barber industry & in a business sense as well 💯🙏
Chris 'THE BOSS' Bossio!! I've always had a passion for cutting hair, but i since i began watching your videos, i wanna become a full time barber and be the best i can be. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge man and also the inspirational and motivational words my brother!
Awesome video my man ! Go get them bands your speech was on point! Thank you so much my friend be blessed and keep it going !!
Salute bro, I’m 20 in college planning to go pro with this 💯
I did barber school in Mexico and they gave me a wahl designer and a peanut no lie and some 20 dollar shears and thinners which I still use haha but they've payed for everything else I've bought throughout
i got and still is interested in barbering, but i let fear get in the way and now that i want to become a barber 50% of the excitement is gone and the other 50% enjoys it.
I’m 14 and I want to get into cutting hair, just as a lil side hustle thanks a lot man🙏🏽
Dropping knowledge much love. Starting my barber journey 04//05/2021 I’m pumped up.
Keep it up! 🙌
Appreciate the speech at the end of video, keep up the support 💪
I agree with the money vs time but for me...my family owned two shops growing up so I learned how to cut at 12-13. I'm now 35 and most barbers aren't as good as me. And the ones that are better than me aren't that much better than me to justify sitting in a chair.
I dont knownif you will ever see this but I really want to chat with you about helping people succeed in the same field you're in. Your actually giving advice realistic advice shit is nuts. I'd come and meet you in person but the military has different plans for me, stay up bro God bless

Thank you for the wisdom. It is very appreciated.. Please continue the education. 💯💯
You ain't cuttin your hair like a professional barber could
