They only had like 3 copies and it was always rented out : ( Saw it at toys r us once for like 80 bucks at the time and my mom didn't get it for me... I just sort of let it go for the longest time... 2015 and I get into a big stupid fight with my bro. To get my mind off the drama I all of the sudden thought... Time to get that game that I never could! Saw that the ds one was a thing... But I wanted the real deal. The version of the game that most got to enjoy. My old school SNES is the only console that's survived the test of aging decades so I wanted the orig copy lol. So I paid the 115 dollars lol. Thought that was bad? Game it worth like 200 or more nowadays haha. Many would say that was too much to spend and they got a point but I'm still glad I did it. Game is wonderful : ) It was worth it. Played through it twice and will again one day. Funny how a 1995 game still destroyed the jrpg competition of today. It's just that great of a classic and memorable adventure!

I got the chance to play it when it came out. 14 year old me was a wimp who had nightmares after every failed attempt at beating Lavos because of his screams. 😅 I hated every single time I had to hear it as well as his theme music pop up. I only got the first two endings at the Millennial Fair during this time because Chrono Trigger was so hard on the SNES, or I was just that bad at RPGs back then. The PlayStation remake was a LOT more forgiving and I managed to see the rest of the endings. ....still hate hearing Lavos's screams and I'm grateful Kara didn't somehow implement them into this track! 😆
This song was music that absolutely captures what it was supposed to be about. I always viewed Lavos as not a villain but a looming threat. Like the Moon in Majora’s Mask
Destruction rains from the heavens. The seas boil. The earth and all upon it fall to rubble and ash. This is the music you hear, as that ultimate horror eclipses any hopes you had. Chrono Trigger was such a monumentally brilliant game!!!
The contrast between the villainous part and the gentle section is so abrupt, but it works so well and is so beautiful.. Mitsuda is something else, and you are also fantastic :)
Like your use of dynamics on this one This theme always struck me as simultaneously terrifying and tragic / melancholy. I think your arrangement captures that complexity
People who crap on video games have zero idea what kind of content they are talking about, this beauty was packed on a SNES cartridge along with many others, it's amazing what technology brought us back then.
Sounded so clean with actual instruments, verses in the game. Loved it! Great job. The snow is a nice touch considering the story of the game, but I can't say more without spoilers lol

Is there a way to pick up more of the bass feel from the piano bass strings? edit: nevermind. I probably shouldn't comment about bass when listening to 4.5" studio monitors with no subwoofer. I'll leave the verdict to you.

Great performance! I was curious if anyone could explain the middle pedals on the pipe organ? Kara uses it at 2:04 and I'm guessing it changes the pitch?
unlike the piano/harpsichord, one key on the organ triggers a set of pipes rather than a single one. the sets can be adjusted with registers (the doorknob handles). the pedals have a similar function but only temporary.
If you visit her streams on twitch, she has a Xenogears sheet book and can play them all. You can request any Xenogears song. She even sings the singing ones for us :)

Not an organist, but I suspect it's similar to the sustain pedal on a piano. Looking up a diagram, it could be a swell pedal?
Yes a swell box, it opens up more pipes and the sound gets louder! It's the only recording I used it on :)
