This game truly changed my life. Akira Toriyama, you influenced my childhood more than I ever knew. Teaching me lessons that were deep and meaningful, thought provoking and introspective at life's journeys and the meanings behind it all. To teach a child the lesson of how to feel love and compassion for Magus is beautiful and no easy task, but you succeeded. When ROBO was disowned by his own kind for loving others who were not like him I cried and every time after that it still choked me up. Frog inspired me to be brave and not take things to seriously. Even in the face of danger and his situation he still could find to find immense courage and even humor flexing and croaking! And of course Chrono, the quite yet adventurous and virtuous red headed boy, exactly like me. This game made into a real gamer as a child. I was given this this game along with a stack of others and a super Nintendo by an uncle when I was 6 or 7. There was NO WAY I was going to be able to figure this game out then. But over years I gave up and came back over and over and I made it slightly further and I learned the concepts of an rpg. I remember the future location of the sunstone where there are fires that spin around the main boss and it cast flare, I never thought I would be able to beat that, it was a huge barrier for me for literally years. The other thing that seemed impossible to even think of beating as a child was the floating airship that appears near the end of the game and is in every timeline. But as a preteen and teen I was able to finally put it all together and really make this game my all time favorite game. This lead to me being the gamer I was who loved the strategy behind rpg's. Finding ways to synergize different team mates in games like FF9 was always so satisfying to me. Looking back it was probably inspired in me by this masterpiece of a game and all the different combo attacks that can be done. Flash forward a few more years and I'm a middleschooler who loves dragon ball z. Imagine my shock when I learned that my favorite game of all time and my favorite kids show of all time was character creator for both. 🤯❤ RIP Akira Toriyama, Thank you for the wonderful childhood.

@@creed22solar123 agreed, chrono cross may have been a good game, but in my opinion, it's not a good sequel. It's not nearly as perfect as Chrono Trigger was.

There are only a handful of games that take me back to the 90's through sound alone, Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, Final Fantasy 6, and Chrono Trigger, and this rendition of its themes are fantastic.
This has to be the most well done rendition of the soundtrack maybe ever, it needs to be definitive. Everything sounds full, in it's correct place and not overdone like on some others i've listened to. Clearly shows proficiency in audio engineering.

This is sincerely the best cover of these tracks I have ever heard. You clearly grasp the feel Mitsuda was going for on each and every track, and you reproduced those feels perfectly. Where many covers try too much to have their own spin on things and end up losing or obscuring the emotions of the original, these are each brilliant love letters to the originals. Simply fantastic
Just wanted to say thank you for creating this. It's really well done and stays true to the original tunes. Usually when people "redo" these tracks for games they go over the top and change it too much. I don't think I can say anything that is not already said in the comments but, you really have perfectly captured de essence of every song, added value to something already incredible... wow man, what an awesome work you have done here ❤
Beautiful. As much I love remixed and orchestral takes on the game's music of yesteryear, there's such nostalgia in the old 8-bit and 16-bit midi style. It just makes you feel as if you're back in the mid to late 80s / early to mid 90s playing these games again for the first time. What a wonderful couple of decades!
I don’t know your music and this is my first listen to anything that you’ve done. Chrono Trigger is a life favorite game soundtrack of mine and I’ve listened to countless arrangements and interpretations of the music. I do like your arrangements and interpretations of most of the tracks you have here and what you brought out in them with (color, certain flavors with different instruments, etc.). It’s bold and somewhat different but doesn’t subtract to the essence of the music itself really, which is key when doing your own versions of these timeless pieces of music. Congrats on your music here
I played Chrono Trigger this year and Memories of Green resonated with me. It's like the longing of the past, the anxiety of the future and pressure of the present all crunched up into one melancholic piece. And you got it *perfectly*. The strings for the melody are an incredible choice.
So people have been making Chrono Trigger orchestral remixes for about 25 years at this point, but I believe you have outdone them all. You aggrandized all the right places, kept it subtle where it needed to be subtle, gave new twists on sounds that still harmonized with the whole, and captured the original emotion while improving upon an already masterful work. Excellent, excellent, excellent ear for arrangement.
Incredible job on this! Gives me such a nostalgic feeling while also giving this soundtrack a lovingly crafted breath of fresh air. Now if we could just get an HD-2D Remake of this game with this as the in-game OST.....
I can't believe this is a recomposition of the soundtrack. This sounds amazing! I was just thinking of this game recently and Googled Chrono Trigger soundtrack and this is what came up as top result I can definitely see why
Sorry for breaking your hope, but after the crap they made with the DS and PC version, they most likely won't touch chrono trigger again, the game is such a perfect gem already that if its polished further it will lose its gleam, and honestly, that might be for the best, nowadays the remakes are all half assed, but at least we saw Crono, Lucca and Marle again in the Chrono Cross remake, radical dreamers stuff.
@@Cynna_M Chrono Cross was no remake, it was a lame cheap remaster only. The best thing that could happen to Chrono Trigger, is making a HD Remake in the same quality, like Star Ocean 2 received it and to preserve the game in a modern, technical better way, without the game losing its soul, adding Voice Acting to it, a proper localization, trophy support, maybe here n there some added adaptive trigger features from the ps5... Chrono Cross should also have received the same treatment like Star Ocean, giving it actually a real remake, all they did with Chroco Cross, is giving it a proper localization, makign the graphics slightly better and addign the Radical Dreamers Content, that was never released in the west... stuff like that is not worth it to call that a Remake
@@ChristianKessler4185I played the steam version with original graphics and loved it, there's no point touching this game unless it's full remake like ff7
My dad died in the same month as Toriyama-san (only he died on the 25th). Thank you all for the remixes, they help me live with this further (after all, in October I will be 31, and will be 25 years old, since then when my mother died and I was left all alone).
@@PontusHultgren Thank you anyway! But there are also advantages - I found a job, and now I have something to live on, even if I’m working almost at a loss) But songs from the game still play in my head at times.
What an awesome album for one of the best games of all time. Thank you for this soundtrack, its very well done. Chrono Triggers soundtrack till this day is just amazing.
Congratulations for breathing new life into this legendary soundtrack. Every single track has been beautifully updated, but I second what has been said about Corridors of Time: Your arrangement for it is beyond superb. Truly gorgeous stuff. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.
Pontus, this is one of the best remixes ever. Thank you for all the hard work you put into bringing this into reality. One of my favorite childhood games, and has an amazing soundtrack. Well done bravo!
My only complaint i have with this arrangement is that it took me almost 2 years to find it. This is incredible. It has all my favorite themes from the game and they were created better than i ever could've imagined them being. Thank you for this.
Absolutely GOAT of all time remix. Definitive modern versions of these songs imo. I love how you didn't go insane making them "metal" or something like so many remixes do. Everything has it's place and fits nicely. Great engineering, too! Only thing that kills me is.. no Magus theme!!! How could you?!?!?!
I always "kind of" liked the Guardia Castle song, but you really made it AMAZING. It's astounding what a little tempo boost and your instrumentation pumps into it.

@@creed22solar123 wouldnt naturally say no to that either, but how realistic is that ever happening
@@Cynna_MAbsolutely Not true. We would never lose our love for the original. We would Love a remake. Most of us at least.
Thanks, Toriyama.
You should also be thanking Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer of Chrono Trigger
This is art in its purest form!. you have no idea how hard the nostalgia train just hit me.
Fantastic work! 👏
Chrono Trigger is and will always be my favorite RPG of all time! Masterful soundtrack dude!
My dad died in the same month as Toriyama-san (only he died on the 25th). Thank you all for the remixes, they help me live with this further (after all, in October I will be 31, and will be 25 years old, since then when my mother died and I was left all alone).
Sorry for your loss - Stay strong and much love to you
@@PontusHultgren Thank you anyway! But there are also advantages - I found a job, and now I have something to live on, even if I’m working almost at a loss) But songs from the game still play in my head at times.
men.........your work is incredible big thanks (chronos fan since 1995!)
What an awesome album for one of the best games of all time. Thank you for this soundtrack, its very well done. Chrono Triggers soundtrack till this day is just amazing.
Didn't realize I needed this right now. Thank you.
that ticking that comes in at 2:20 is absolute ear candy.
This is fantastic, great job Pontus I love it!
Congratulations for breathing new life into this legendary soundtrack. Every single track has been beautifully updated, but I second what has been said about Corridors of Time: Your arrangement for it is beyond superb. Truly gorgeous stuff. I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.
that brief bass solo near the end of secret of the forest adds years to my life
Click on around 14:28 to slide into it.
only 3 minutes in and I can already tell this is something amazing. stellar work sir/mam
Dude that frog's theme slaps so lard, let's gooooo. You're amazing, liked and subbed.
Ahh. I just finished listening to your FFIX album. Imagine my delight at finding you've got Chrono Trigger covers.
Pontus, this is one of the best remixes ever. Thank you for all the hard work you put into bringing this into reality. One of my favorite childhood games, and has an amazing soundtrack. Well done bravo!
Har lyssnat mycket på CT-musik. Det här är helt otroligt, bra jobbat!
My only complaint i have with this arrangement is that it took me almost 2 years to find it. This is incredible. It has all my favorite themes from the game and they were created better than i ever could've imagined them being. Thank you for this.
This is awesome work! I really wish there was a [far away times] piece too. It's hand down my favorite video game score.
this is BEAST in magnificence --- Great work Pontus!!
How could you?!?!?!
excellent music! corridors of time always hits me no matter what form it's in and your version is absolutely beautiful.
I always "kind of" liked the Guardia Castle song, but you really made it AMAZING. It's astounding what a little tempo boost and your instrumentation pumps into it.
AGREED -- whole compilation is suberb, and I'd neve thought I'd think that Guardia castle theme here is my favorite of the bunch~! incredible
Wow. Unbelievably beautiful arrangement.
