For as much damage as Civil War II did to her character, I don't think anything's beating Avengers #200. Still genuinely surprised someone looked at that and thought "yeah this is good to publish"
I kind of feel bad for Captain Marvel to be honest. She debuted in the least favorable MvC game, as well as not being as popular compared to other characters. Hopefully she gets a better chance in the next one. I also got a question: Would you be interested in covering Capcom Fighting Evolution/Jam as well. I know that doesn't have a “VS” title in the name but just curious.
Yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at. There's only one newcomer that really disappointed me in Infinite (I'll get around to them someday) but the rest were great characters trapped in an unappealing product. I do plan on covering Fighting Evolution at some point though, yeah!
Watch them all dude, Seventh Force is the VS scholar! I consider myself pretty informed and still find myself walking away from each vid having learned something new.
This series is great but as much as I love I can’t help but find the videos on Infinite hard to watch not because their bad videos in fact your videos on Infinite are great it’s just when it comes to Capcom Vs. series Infinite is the one game in the series I really don’t like acknowledge even if the gameplay is good things like the roster could have been so much better but due to corporate meddling the roster only focus the well known Capcom and Marvel characters while completely ditching the obscure characters of Capcom and Marvel. If we can’t get a new Capcom Vs. Game if hope at very least we get a Capcom Fighting All Stars which would crossover with all of Capcom’s franchises.
I know this wishful thinking but I hope am hoping that if the legacy collection is successful we will get a MVC 4 and I hoping that this time Marvel will be easier to work with since Marvel are a notoriously difficult company to work with when it comes to video games because of their innate desire to promote themselves. But more often than not it’s to the detriment of the product so I hoping that with a hypothetical 4th game they may be a little more easier to work with.
So Captain Marvel, as you can probably tell, whenever I open up with that statement, it's usually because I don't have much to say on a character and that isn't different here, she's alright, not played her much, she's an alright character in EMH (Guys... why is the ceiling so low?) but that's really all I know her from, (Aside from the movies but I haven't seen them, much like almost every MCU movie) but I can't say I don't care for her like Cammy or Psylocke, she's just kinda there most of the time for me, her acting in MVC is kinda annoying though. (Which doesn't help that her actor is... not the best person let's just say)
Omg Captain Marvel is my fave hero! First saw her in the 90’s X-Men cartoon and never stopped reading her! She was the best looking in the game and so powerful. Loved her animations! Can’t wait for her comeback in Marvel 4 once it happens!
With mvc4 being a big possibility now more then ever i do hope alot lf the characters in infinite (jedah monster hunter carole bucky sigma ultron and x for me personally) get another shit being in a mvc game
under better circumstances and heck if they did better models and fleshed things out it wouldn't have failed this hard for me its a great game do appreciate the covering of mvci characters
The funniest thing about MvCI is despite missing its initial sales target and its tepid reception, it weirdly enough wasn't a financial flop. It (eventually) hit its goal of two million copies sold, and last I checked, it's the second best selling single release of a Vs. game of all time, behind vanilla MvC3. Imagine how well it could've done if everything outside of the actual fighting game mechanics wasn't a mess. (I think UMVC3 and its re-release combined might actually have sold more, but Capcom considers the PS4/XB1/PC as a separate release from the 360/PS3 original.)
@@TheSeventhForce and i remember them saying mvci was planned to continue work and replace future mvc games but i might be misremembering it has been years
but what happens if you use your supers/Install when low on health. Do you actually KO yourself? or does she stop at 1 pixel of life like Dark Phoenix in Marvel 3 ?
I don't have an issue with her as she is currently (though I'm hoping people start doing more with her than super strong half kree space cop), but her 2005-2010 or so Ms. Marvel days were pretty great. That's when I started reading her regularly though, so I'm a little biased.
@TheSeventhForce I liked miss marvel cause she was like wonder woman for marvel the ideal female role model strong and cool but sexy. I have a personal bias myself for that since I am woman myself, but I don't like her recent Disney marvel portrayal at all I prefer the good old days of her as miss marvel ^_^
It really sucks that Miss Marvel got changed into Captain Marvel around that time they were doing the Marvel all new all different line around 2013-2014 and they just straight up ruined her character for the next like almost 6 years. They made her not a very fun character they really tried to put her as the face of Marvel but with the new personality she had which was very militaristic very cold and almost borderline psychopathic in ways anything with that character's face on it was just a big sign to stay away. On top of the fact that you have the terrible live action movies with Brie Larson and it didn't help that Brie Larson herself is not that good a person it didn't really do good for the characters popularity on top of the fact or comics weren't doing well. Back when she was Miss Marvel and had better writers she was a much funner character so I am really torn whenever I see this character and I really don't know how to feel about her
Captain Marvel is one of few characters that felt forced, from my perspective. She’s clearly only here cuz she had a movie either in development or already out (can’t quite remember) but I’ll be damned, Capcom made a fun asf character outta her.
I think that's a pretty fair assessment. That was kind of the case for some of the Marvel characters added to Ultimate MvC3 too; Hawkeye getting added to and getting near top billing for that was definitely done in anticipation of him becoming popular when Avengers 1 dropped the following year. Both characters ended up fun though, so I can't really complain.
Uh... no? Yeah, she had a movie but it wouldn't come out until 2019. Marvel was just really pushing Captain Marvel at the time after they changed her from her Ms. Marvel persona.
@@DarkOverlord96IMO, it's a combination of both explanations. Her 2012 change into Captain Marvel led to the start of the development of her 2019 film in 2013 (the movie had a 6-year development period). Disney then announced that Brie Larsen was cast as Captain Marvel at Comic Con 2016 (around July), which was coincidentally the same year that Capcom managed to recover the MvC license from Disney after Disney dissolved their own game dev studios in that May. Disney didn't renew the MvC license back in 2012 (hence why Marvel game content in general got delisted in the PS3/360 era), so Capcom couldn't officially work on MvC:I until the license rescue in 2016. Seeing that MvC:I was developed in a year (which, along with the low budget that barely exceeded half of SFV's DLC budget, explains why the game was a bit scuffed from an aesthetics standpoint) and that the reveal of MvC:I was in December of 2016, MvC:I was definitely being influenced by mainstream Marvel at the time (despite interviews claiming that they had free reign on the writing and development choices). As the MCU prints a TON of money, it definitely had influence over MvC:I (like how the Infinity Gems got recolored to match the MCU Infinity Stones despite them originally matching the OG comics' colors in the Marvel Super Heroes arcade title and how the X-Men and Fantastic 4 related characters were likely ditched due to their absence in the MCU at the time [since Fox still owned their movie rights]). I do hope that the next MvC game is less influenced by the MCU than Infinite was (MvC3 being more based on the comics and shows was great). That being said, I do hope most of the roster sticks around (I dislike roster cuts in general), so hopefully Carol returns in MvC4. I like her in everything EXCEPT the MCU (and Civil War II and Marvel's Avengers #200 as those storylines sucked), and she was a fun character in MvC:I.
While I don't really know much about the character prior to this video (I had long checked out of the MCU by the time her movie came out) I need to jump back into MvCi and give her a shot because she looks fun as heck to play
Yeah, I kinda fell off keeping up with the MCU myself. (Deadpool 3 looks great, though.) She's definitely fun in MvCI, though! Pretty straightforward overall, but she has a little sauce
@@TheSeventhForceDon't blame you for falling off from following the MCU, TBH. Phases 4 and 5 are really lackluster when compared to the first three phases. There are still some good films here and there (for Phase 5, they're GotG3 and DP&W, IMO), but the extreme content churning of new shows and movies really hurt the general quality of the MCU due to the focus on quantity over quality. It does seem like they're dialing back the overall quantity of new content, however, so the MCU should improve before too long (I blame Disney+ needing TV shows for the quality issue). I wouldn't be surprised if they do a hard reboot with Secret Wars since SW 2015 dealt with the incursion between Earth-616 and Earth-1610 (and the Marvels had that scene in the post-credits that showed a character cross between dimensions). Disney probably wants to get the Fantastic Four and the X-Men fully integrated in the MCU before too long (though DP&W did a decent job at that too).
