- Canto 6 is so far, absolutely depressing. It feels like there is no shred of hope for the future and what will happen in part 3. For Canto 5 I had a general safety net of "oh, we'll be fine by the end of this" I don't feel that same way for Canto 6. Project Moon really shook up the formula and I am terrified at what they are cooking... Still peak tho.

Sometimes on the loading screen you can get either carmen looking at the player in the grass, the bathtub or carmen in the city.
I got the Carmen looking at the player in the grass as the loading screen to return from the final node
I got one of Carmen jumpscare right after the final stage and that shit was scary
They knew what they were doing when they made sure the loading screens worked during season 4

Still find it crazy how not only Heath breaks the damage count on 6-34, when he does Bodysack, the borders for the EGO change from Purple to Red. Meaning this dude changed Bodysack's Sin affinity from Envy to Wrath.

When it changes to wrath it also swaps from a normal awakening… to a corrosion,

I like the detail that when Our Heathcliff is absolutely mollywhoping Mirror Heath with bodysack, it slowly transforms from an Envy attack into Wrath. Like it's symbolizing Heath going so deep into self-loathing that he stops being envious of other's gains over his own and just going into a single minded slaughter against himself for his perceived contribution towards Cathy's suffering.

loved how the dead rabbit bosses skills have the same names as LCB heathcliff, with bat bash, smackdown and upheaval. when i realised they both had the clash win attack power skill 2 i started making connections but the reveal still surprised me
You are set up by Canto 5's QueequegCliff's Snagharpoon to believe that the coincidence is just "oh, the actual Matthew might have been that close to Heathcliff, which is why their combat style is so similar". Then they hit you with the curve ball.
I think it's also worth pointing out that one of his passives is an inverse of Heath's base ego passive

Fighting the Rabbit Boss, Tsunul finally discovered how every single enemy feels while fighting the player.
What I liked about this part is not just the distortion, story, and more lore implications. I, especially love the interactions with Yi sang and Faust. Although Yi sang is a genius inventor, he still seeks answers/validation from faust because he knows she has a lot of knowledge about stuff concerning the bough and not only that, I like how he displays his anger towards the misuse of his creation like a true creator who has concerns about what they created.

I think the thing with Hindley is that he is the purest manifestation of what this Canto’s really about. Like how Canto V is an exploration of emotional abuse and manipulation and self-discovery with the vehicle of a crazy hag and space whales, this uses a rendition of Wuthering Heights as a mechanism to commentate on our assigned roles within social order, and how our behaviour can perpetuate or, I imagine by the end of the Canto, break these roles.
Like how everyone asserts that Heathcliff is nothing but a dumb mutt, that is his assigned role. And although we’ve seen he can be so much more, once he’s returned to this social habitat, he can’t help but conform to their views of him, to give them the impression that he can’t change; we’re basically seeing him relapse into that self-destructive behaviour until he literally turns into the dog everyone treated him as. It’s also why everyone emphasises that he was brought into Wuthering Heights in a sack - a Bodysack. His EGO has been effectively whacking us over the head with what is essentially the circumstances of his birth all along. And it keeps going along these lines: Cathy’s rib at Heathcliff “degrading her” only stings because he believes there to be truth in that statement; he needs to run away and “become someone” because he believes and acts as though he is nothing; Heathcliff’s predestined role within the city is to destroy himself and be alone, and this reaches the point that he does it literally, fucking dimension hopping just to kick his own ass. It’s all about call and response, society conjectures we are one way, and in our agitation or fear of that assertion we act in ways that validate it. Like, it doesn’t get more obvious than Heath literally being his own nemesis.
In light of that, Hindley is a microcosm of the fact that his paranoia manifested the reality that he was afraid of. He was so scared of Heathcliff stealing his father’s favour that he tried to force him away, inadvertently acting in a way that would lose his father’s favour. It’s especially enhanced when you look into the gift choice of the kids: Cathy asks for a wrench when she’s, like, six, and we know she becomes a talented inventor, so it’s demonstrative of her prodigal talent and ability; in contrast, why the fuck does Hindley want a violin? Do we know if he can even play? What talent does Hindley have? Hindley was likely already feeling insecure as the elder brother that his sister had a recognisable talent, and that violin was essentially an attempt to seize a future of his own, to discover some latent talent at playing that would make his father proud and essentially define him. That violin was Hindley’s Cathy, that one obsession, the one thing he fantasised would be his future. Just like how Heath can’t get over Cathy as his only possibility at happiness and acceptance, Hindley couldn’t get over the violin as the only thing that could make him worthwhile, and so, stuck in that rut, it was: he was so consumed by it, that he sank lower and lower, refusing to improve, manifesting the reality that he conjectured that that violin was his future.

Everyone talks about how Bodysack changed from Envy to Wrath but nobody has mentioned that it changed to the Corrosion banner as well. In the corner it says WARNING once it turns to Wrath.

They're staying faithful to the book here through another way. Instead of OUR Heathcliff being the one to ruin everyone's lives because he got cucked by Cathy and the Lintons, it is instead a Heathcliff who never got the character development needed. The scene of Heathcliff overhearing the conversation between Cathy and Nelly going "Marrying Heathcliff would disgrace me" cuts off exactly before she continued with another line that would have changed everything had Heathcliff heard it. Alongside the grieving scene being the book's interpretation, I fully expect Cathy's running out into the storms of Wuthering Heights and screaming, begging for him to come back to be one of her core memories.
My guess is that Heathcliff distorted into the dog that resulted in Cathy getting to know the Linton family and him being outwardly disgusted/detested by them since that marked the turning point of Cathy's childhood from Heathcliff's wild buddy to the prim and proper civilized lady that Heathcliff despised ('cause associations with the Lintons that he hated and had outwardly stated it by throwing apple sauce at Edgar's face)

I find it interesting the Oufi's kept talking about pointillism, which revolve around dots, when one of the Maestros in Leviathan, Junsoom, had dots painted over him, and especially in his Distortion form.

Maybe I will sound crazy, but I like hindley’s character. Like among numerous villains we encountered, they were kinda poetic and depressing in some interesting way, like how Dongrang was acting high only to be under league’s shadow, how kromer and ahab are just evil defined(pun intended). There’s hindley who is depressing in the most grounded and realistic way possible, he is just a man with no money and drowning himself in alcohol. He is pathetic from beginning to the end, but we see the reason-his father, a person who brought a nameless boy child to his home only to forget about his own son. Like, Hindley’s father is the one who was raising him only to choose some boy from the streets rather than his own son, not trying to change him to the better. Hindley was a child, I’m sure if his father actually cared he would have found some ways to influence him, but he just gave up on him. In my opinion, hindley has a lot of character behind him, which is overlooked because of his hostility and violin memes :D.(sorry for bad grammar, my English is not the best, but I’m trying)

A note on Carmen's dialogue.
It's just me or did she sound almost...sad? Sad that Heathcliff choose to distort? Maybe I'm reading too much but it didn't feel like it was pushing them to disortion, more like she was asking them what they felt and because they can't crawl out of what ever emotional hole he dug for themself, she just let him distort into....what ever he will turn into.
Minor detail but it could be either a change in Carmen's attitude compared to how it was presented in Library, or re-defining her role in distortions. Less of a temptator, and more of a "giver".

I actually quite like that. I've never been a fan of the idea that Carmen was an immensely manipulative person striving for distortion from the outset because of how much it harms Lob Corp and Library's phenomenal stories. I always head canoned her Library presentation to an effect of Angela's actions at the end of Lob Corp. That would also make the confrontation in Library so much better, as it's effectively Angela directly confronting her abuse-mangled mindset she had at the beginning of the game.
From my limited knowledge Carmen while she seems to encourage distortion. Was at the end of the day an empathetic person who couldn’t handle what happened as a result of her experiments. Whatever her goals where she did believe what she said regardless of manipulation

To me, at least the way I see it, she doesn’t sound sad, but rather very gentle - in an impersonal, otherworldly, almost divine-like way. Her voice is that of an all-forgiving deity speaking to a repenting sinner, rather than one person trying to comfort another, which is very fitting, since Carmen, as she is right now, is much closer to a god - as much as there can be such a thing in the City - than a regular human.

But this is how she always was, though? Carmen isn’t malevolent or manipulative; she doesn’t “tempt”, nor does she “corrupt” - she simply speaks to you and listens to your true thoughts and desires, trying to guide you to the path that leads to self-reflection and self-acceptance. E.G.O or Distortion - it’s all the same to her, because her goal: making people of the City accept themselves as they are and giving them the power to fight back against injustice - never really changed. What *did* change was simply the method of achieving that goal; or, to be more precise, Carmen discovered an alternative to her original method - one that is much easier to achieve for the average person living in the City.
I find it funny that within the span of two minutes apart two people gave two different impressions of Carmen. One saying she's swaying Heathcliff, the other talking about how humane Carmen was depicted previously.

Following that train of thought, Cathy speaks plurally, too. "We", something that gets called out. In that sense... I think Faust and Cathy both have interacted with the bough in such a way as to become linked to their identities. Amalgamations of what makes them "Them".

The absolute amazing twist that one of our own sinners will distort and become the final boss of the canto is peak writing.
One detail i really love about the "Öufi" fight here, even if Ryoshu hadn't called them out and told us they're actually Ex-Ring members we still would have been able to tell because they were all Bleed units, and we know from Heath's Öufi ID that the Öufi are all about Tremor.
I love subtle gameplay storytelling like this.
Also at 22:50 she CORRECTS herself before continuing, which combined with Dante's line afterwards makes me think that when she gets knowledge from "Faust" it isn't directly added to her memory, it is instead either written in Shadows like her Base E.G.O Art shows a shadow pointing to the answer for the equation, or she has to visually interpret whatever information "Faust" send her. Either way incredibly fascinating.
33:08 And this line makes me think that Cathy wants us to stop whatever they're doing, because if we're going by the assumption that she's controlling the diary somehow then SHE'S the one that sent us down there. So she planned most of this, but not the Ring getting involved through Hindley, or she knew that would happen too and thus knew we'd stop them. Maybe she's working with Carmen???

GOD that ending hits hard, and now a static-y version of the Carmen CG from LobCorp is a possible loading screen image, they hit us so god damn hard and did it beyond masterfully, i honestly wasn't sure if they'd be able to top Canto 5's ending, but at this point i think it's guaranteed that they will. God i cannot wait for part 3, this is going to distort all of us i swear.
The bosses in this section really suffer from a hideous case of what I'm going to call "Sinking or sink motherfucker" syndrome. It's clear they really wanted you to use sinking for these fights. Oufi Ring man, Bunny Boss, and spoiler dude really, really, REALLY rack up the SP if you let them win any clashes which results in them snowballing you to death. You either do what I did and flood them with Sinking to keep their SP at manageable levels, or let RNGesus take the wheel and pray you win literally every clash ever so they can't get that positive SP.
I was really surprised that they actually got me to feel bad about Hindley in the end. It's mainly what Catherine says. Just the idea that even if everyone, even Hindley himself gave up on him, some part of Catherine still believed he could get better. It made me realize shipping him to M Corp's trauma center in her will wasn't really a "fuck you" as it came across and was a last resort attempt to help him. He needs help, and refuses to get it or help himself. And then in the end, even Catherine finally gives up on him once he's distorted. If he's going to swat away every hand that tries to pull him off the ground and continue to sink into a gunky mess of his own making, then why stop him at this point? He's made his bed, now he has to lie in it. The last person that ever had any fragment of hope in the broken alcoholic that does nothing but make bad choices and blame everyone else, the man named Hindley, has finally forsaken him. Some form of his own sister finally accepted he was dead and gone. It really changed the perspective of this fight and distortion for me, the new song kicking in just amplifying the feeling. I pity him, and I do feel bad about it, but this was the fate he brought on himself. You can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped.
And don't get me started on the whole thing with Heathcliff. Poor fucking Heathcliff. That whole scene was just a slow stream of misery and sorrow. The next part's going to be a mess for our friend.
Just some tips for low sanity fights,
There is a lot of skill expression when it comes to low sanity fights that reduces the rng quite a bit
Like bringing tanks to eat hits to not raise enemies sanity and clashing with favoured/dominating attacks.
Bringing specific comps that fuel specific sanity raising ego like representation emitter/Faust fluid sac/holiday Outis/etc
Using negative SP IDs like N clair and Suncliff
Using high base roll skills like Blade Lineage Yi Sang and Molar Ishmael with her base 10 evade
Using IDs with attack debuffers like Regret Faust and N Cliff
Using specific ego to debuff the enemy like Chains of Others and Crows Eye
Many used a sinking team to cheese this segment too
You can bring in fewer sinners to build sanity faster like using Molar Ishmael with her broken 10 base rolling evade
Using a lust team with N Faust to use whistles and her SP gaining s3
Etc etc
There are a lot of ways to deal with these fights and I dont think calling the Matt fight "RNG" is quite right. I think most people are not used to difficult fights at low SP so they don't know what to do

heathcliff sadly lacks a proper 'sinking' ident, so you would probably want to bring sunshower thanks to him being negative coin.

I just beat this fight with
A burn team with Sunshower Heath(level 45), Liu Ish, NClair, Liu Ryoshu, Liu Gregor and Bullet Outis. Rest were level 40.

Sunshower seemed to help a lot so I decided on a team without him to see if it was harder
This time I did it with a
Tremor team with level 40 Molar Outis, Oufi Heath, Rosedion, Rose Sault(level 35), Regret Faust, LCCB Ishmael

Some advice is that you just have to decide whether to clash or not and use ego at opportune times. You dont really have to build up sanity either to win. My entire liu squad had basically near 0 sp the entire fight. To counter speed rng, you need to ensure to block every attack that the boss with another non-heathcliff unit and use crow's eye view or some binding ego at times you know the boss is going to be fast.
If you want an ez sinking team use Molar Ish, Sunshower Heath and 4 other sinking units, almost of them are good. Just select the IDs you have debuffing/buffing egos on. Alternatively just go in with Molar Ish and Sunkshower Heath and 1-2 other sinking units and build up action slots for Molar Ish and Sunshower Heath.
And as we all know: "Luck correlates with skill"

I want to take a second to appreciate the fact that presumably every single ID that comes out of Wuthering Heights (playable or otherwise) is basically just one more member of the "Will beat Heathcliff the first chance they get" gang, something we've never seen before with any other sinner (except maybe Sinclair)
In the Ring, there are 3 ranks we know of so far, which can be told by the rings they wear and how many coils they have.
One coil is the lowest rank, which is the common Ring grunts
Two coils are Docents, which are high ranked. Like the "Officers" of the Ring.
Three Coils are Maestros which are highest rank of the Ring (that we know of), and are usually referred to as Master or Sir.
Since these "Oufi" are not part of the Ring anymore, they don't wear any coiled rings so its a bit hard to tell their rank. It's safe to assume most of them are common Ring Grunts, except the leader who was *probably* a former Docent but I'm not sure so take it with a grain of salt (this is all speculation)
Edit: It's hard to compare the ranks of the Fingers with eachother since they all have different amount of ranks but I tried anyways so here
Ring, Middle, Thumb, Index
One-Coil = Little Sibling = Soldato = Proselyte
Docent = Big Sibling = Capo = Proxy, Messengers
Maestro = Greater Sibling = Sotocapo = Weavers(?)
Seems that the One-Coils go by "Researchers" based on their names... which honestly is fitting for the college-related naming scheme of the Ring. Also it'd be Greater Brother instead of Big Brother for the Sottocapo-tier

there were both Carmen and Cathy. you can deffirentiate them by the text colour - Carmen is red and Cathy is violet (just like the flowers in the manor's yard, so it's definetly Cathy that is welcoming Heath home after he distorts).

Book Heathcliff’s anger was so great that this broke man managed to become filthy rich and managed to own 2 estates in the end to himself while tormenting his enemies. He only died because there was no one left to torment and saw that he was torturing a mini version of himself and cathy 😅.

I kinda absolutely adore the idea that the final chapter is going to basically be us and the sinners going up against their worst versions of themselves like how Lob Corp ended with oops all Ayins. Especially for Gregor and Rodya who kinda feel like they got a lil shafted compared to cantos 3+ (not to say their bad, chapter 2 is absolutely hilarious and chapter 1 needed to get the plot ball rolling).
They'll get a reprise, I think. Hermann & Sonya can stand in for them.

More seriously though, the end of this part really hits hard though. Heatcliff has grown to be a real mate and seeing him break down this badly hurts. I don't know exactly how things are going from here, but they definetly know where to place their cliffhangers. God, if we have to go through the entire dungeon with Heatcliff's space just unavailable, that's going to be like starring at a hole in your heart.

Obviously everything will be returned to basically normal after the canto concludes, but we have precedent for not being able to use a specific sinner in certain fights, and bro has just distorted-it would be difficult to have him playable and still adequately portray that.

I wondered if that might happen, pssibly a higher tier version of bodysack with the downside of more resources (of course) and being able to corrode.
Notably Yi Sang and Ishmael never really met the conditions we know of for distorting. Don’t know the exact timeline but Yi Sang never had his worldview broken, really more so his darkest fears realized. Same with ish, her conviction never wavered up until she was given the choice to follow through with her revenge. Heathcliff’s the only one so far who’s worldview, for a lack of a better word got completely flipped for the worse. Not to mention when yi sang and ish had their breaking points of the dissolution of the league or the sinking of the pequod respectively I’m not even sure the distortion phenomenon was a thing yet.
And lets be honest, Ishmael whole deal was about 'if Ahab still alive', If that was proven wrong, she would probably distort just like Heathcliff now.

Gotta say, for that last fight, Sunshower Heathcliff is actually really good. His sanity is forced to plummet each turn, so he's actually half-decent as a unit in this fight when compared to his plus coin IDs. I've been using him in the latter part of the chapter and he's decent, so long as you bring a little support to keep him from plummeting when you inevitably EGO with him.

I don't like Hindley, but I do pity him. All he wanted was a violin, and he was upset when his father brought home a boy. Like a child who hasn't really developed maturity would, he held it against Heathcliff, and hated him as a result, as if Heathcliff was the reason he didn't get the violin, and not his father's choice. His father saw this behaviour, and rather than trying to correct it, he abandoned Hindley altogether.
Hindley is pitiful. A boy who lost everything after being abandoned completely by his father as a child who grew into a man who let that hate and those memories rot him to the core, haunted by his disownment and blaming it all on the boy who started it all.
It's hard not to feel a degree of sympathy. He was a spoiled brat, but what followed wasn't his fault. He lost everything. His father hated him. He was replaced by some random kid that took the place of the violin he asked his father for. His life was ruined after Heathcliff arrived at Wuthering Heights. All because as a child, he acted as a child, his father came to despise him, and his life was ruined in a way that could never be fixed.
Hindley truly was a pitiable man.

Offense level is basically for every 3 levels of difference the higher side gains 1 clashing power and a 10% damage boost(?).
From what I heard, 3 offense level is closer to 9% damage up, and has diminishing returns

Why did the manager shoot shield bullets at mirror Heathcliff
I think when they say + or - resistances they mean the multiplier so basically "-0.5 to X resistance" would take a 1.0 multiplier to a 0.5 multiplier and vice versa with + resistance, basically it works opposite to how you might think
quick recap of combat things:
- yes, +X to a resistance makes the target weaker, because resistances are a multiplier. If a target goes from 1.0 to 2.0 to, say, Wrath, they take twice as much Wrath damage. Likewise, -X to a resistance makes the target stronger: going from 1.0 Gloom to 0.5 Gloom halves Gloom damage taken.
- Offence levels are 1 clash power per 3 levels. I don't remember the exact level-based damage modifier, but it works out to roughly 3% per difference between offence level of the attacker and defence level of the defender, so 9 Defence Level Down is ~27% more damage taken, diminishing returns discounted.
