  • It only takes about 6-7 hours to 3D Print these custom lithophane ornaments with whatever pictures you want. I run you through start to finish on how to make these without needing any extra programs. Please note that the ornaments I have printed are indeed FLIPPED, so if you want it like that, please check the box for flipping the image.

    This was awesome. I used silver ,gold,white pla, just paused at the layers and change filament, so now the bulb is either silver or gold with white in the middle for the litho

    I've been working on a similar project on my end, but using a resin printer. And using blender. massive learning experience but crazy cool. Still working on the dimensions, nice to see other new projects on this. Looking for other resin settings though :) thumbs up for your video on the project!!!!

    That's awesome. Thanks for the instructions! Do you maybe have any affiliate links to suggestions for printers that would work for this project? Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing. So unfortunate that those lights only last 3 hours. They seem perfect for these baubles if only they would last longer

    Hey! I was able to get one print off perfect but now everytime I try to use lithophane maker and "create STL" I download a zip file with only a txt file in it. I've tried 3 different browsers and using both PNG and JPEG files for the image. Anyone have any advice?

  • @quby3310

    Can you print it to the inside!?
    In that case it is a regular smooth white ornament till you turn on the light!

    • @donnytheasianmillennialdad929
      @donnytheasianmillennialdad929  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not an option built into the lithophane maker, so unfortunately no. There's also a problem with that in which the shadows of the protrusions would change the image you see on the outside if the light isnt dead center inside the ornament, so it would look different. I imagine that's why it's not an option

    • @klave8511
      @klave8511 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you print a regular flat lithophane and view it from the other side you’ll see that it loses detail.

    for your demo you showed the flip option in lithomaker but did not use it? isn't the result upside down for an ornament?

    • @donnytheasianmillennialdad929
      @donnytheasianmillennialdad929  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you're right, I forgot to mention that when I made the video. The setting should be flipped upside down for the ornaments that I demo'd.

    I'd like to make a larger one say to 80mm. Can the size be adjusted?

    • @donnytheasianmillennialdad929
      @donnytheasianmillennialdad929  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, though the larger the ornament the longer the print time. I've made one at 70mm (which is a pretty great size) and it took about 9.5 hours to print at 38mm/s print speed

    Hi. Anyone knows the settings for bambu studio?

    • @ChuckCourtney81
      @ChuckCourtney81 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Default PLA settings work great in Bambu Studio, and only takes 1 hour on Bambu X1C instead of 6 hours like he mentioned.

      I agree, if it's hanging on a tree. In this orientation it would be better as a table ornament.

    What is the best orientation for printing these -- standing upright with a brim/raft, or flat (in the case of the square frame)? I'm using Bambu Labs and X1C if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!

    • @donnytheasianmillennialdad929
      @donnytheasianmillennialdad929  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on the size of the light, you can either just wiggle it directly in or if the light is a little smaller than the hole, you can probably pad it with some tape. Alternatively you can play with the settings and make the hole with the opening smaller
