I've always maintained that "Tokyo Drift" is the only one of the F&F movies ABOUT racing. F1 & F2 are both set WITHIN the racing subculture, but the movies aren't really about the racing itself. The whole point of the first one is Paul Walker trying to figure out who's orchestrating electronics robberies. It just so happens his investigation lands him in to the LA street-racing scene. Part 2 is about Paul Walker taking down a drug lord, who just so happens to be using street racers to move his goods & cash. None of the street racing in those movies really move the "plots" along. But with "Tokyo Drift", the movie is about this "kid" (heh) having to master this certain driving/racing style, and ends with him having to RACE in order to solve his problem. The climax of "Tokyo Drift" hinges on an actual race between two drivers... the other two, is really just about chasing down the bad-guys. @Lenny Dominguez Japanese schools are super strict. Skirt length, hair dye, types of shoes, etc. You gotta follow the very strict dress code of the school you’re attending. It’s not like that in ALL Japanese schools, but most of them are very strict about how their students look or dress.
This is probably an International high school, considering how they just admitted him without an entrance exam and despite not knowing Japanese. So the rules are more lax to accomodate non-Japanese students.

Man, Tokyo Drift was super huge when it came out and Idk why people suddenly hate it these days. The drifting was super fun and I remember so many shows about cars or segments on local television were all in on the sort of mainstream drifting trend this film created in the US. The Initial D arcade machines at my local movie theater were always packed. The soundtrack was played in literally every store at the time, too. lol That’s how big this movie was at the time, when I was a kid.
I LOVE THOS MOVIE but it definitely wasn't huge. In the asian/gaming community I've noticed it was big but this movie made less money, didn't last more than 3 weeks in wide release. It came and went, and has grown a fanbase over time. I'm just saying when it came out, it was a failure.
I watched this back in 2006. My head exploded watching them drop the engine from a Japanese car into a Ford Mustang. There are multiple reasons why this would not work.
I remember originally hating this movie because the original cast wasn't in it. Then I watched one day and it just clicked. Its one of the best F&F movies in my opinion and my personal favorite. It's the only one that kind of retains the idea of the original, illegal street racing and crime drama. Yes, there are some dumb lines and the acting is terrible (but it is in all of them) but it's a great film honestly.
Since it came out after 2Fast2Furious the draw for me was always the cars. I didn’t start to see it for the original cast until Fast & Furious(part 4). I think it’s criminal that Lucas Black character was never brought into the main cast.
They capitalized, in film form, on the hype of drifting at the time. It was growing more in American culture with Initial D and Need for Speed Carbon, it was just fun to watch. Bow wow? Not so much. Lol but the drifting and story was good enough
The drifting was amazing in this film. Other than that…… I remember when me and my friends went to cinema to watch this and that scene where the guy drifts up the spiral car park we started cheering so hard. Its was epic and loved it.
Fast and Furious 4 i think was such an underated movie. Everyone still felt human and true to their orginal chracter, Everyones motive were clear. The main antagonist was good. Even the main henchmen were too.
I agree a lot of people call it essentially a reboot or remake of the first but honestly it's what the series needed to course correct back on track if they wanted it to survive.
I always got annoyed that he went to a Japanese school when can't even understand the language. There are international schools in Tokyo, why not having him there!

I genuinely think they never planned to bring Han back to life. His death was supposed to be a permanent thing. The reason Han survived and was brought back is because of what happened outside of the movies. Jason Stateham killed him in a very brutal way and Han was a beloved character. So to see Jason not only survive, but also brought on as a good guy and everyone seemingly forgot about Han sat wrong with very many people and for good reason. Jason was a huge blow to everything the series stood for, they talk so much about "family" yet a man who murdered one if their family members was accepted into the crew. There is also the Asian hate angle from Hollywood where a white dude can kill an iconic Asian male character and take his place without repercussions. This is why the #JusticeForHan was trending so hard. The most obvious fix to this was to just kill Jason Statham and avenge Han. Unfortunately the studio and the Rock didn't want that. In the studio eyes Jason is a big name that brought in money and they want more big names actors into the crew so they can eventually fase out the lesser known actors. While the Rock loved working with Jason so he only stayed if Jason stayed.
Lucas Black was 22 years old when they filmed this, he's 38 right now so he was 23 when the movie came out. For Fast 9 Sean, Twinkie & Earl Hu(the mechanic guy in Han's shop) are returning from this film. So I guess Sean & Neela break up in between this film and F9.

There's also a lot of things in Movie American High School that would never be allowed in real American High School, sooooo
@@thisasiankidistrashfordram374 I thought it must be an International School since Sean goes there, and Twinky is already there, as is Earl who's English . But why only teach in Japanese. In an International School, English would be the unifying language.
Being that Sean's father was in the military, you would think Sean would go to school on the base. But then we wouldn't have the plot element of going to a Japanese school, would we?
“How I do? Did I win?” Hahaha I couldn’t stop laughing when he said that.
This still my favorite movie in the franchise
I got news for ya
Thank you, people look at me like I'm crazy when I say this is my favorite out of the lot, the driving scenes were excellent, action on point without being cartoonish and it had a good story.
If I had a choice to keep this movie over all the other 7 movies I would. This movie I say is the karate kid of racing movies. It's so Good!
Same here! I love this movie
Yeah & the cars are dope on there.
I'm with the "call me crazy it's my favorite one" side. (I did like the fifth one, but I feel like that's around the time they really became different movies.) This one is still about racing. But unlike the first two it's not about racing IN A STRAIGHT LINE. Races and chases, at least in a movie, are more exciting when they have to turn...
And it did a far better job ripping off The Karate Kid than the first one did ripping off Point Break
Bro, I see you have that goofy Green Goblin concept from Spider-Man 1 😂👍🏻.
@@MahdiRanger I think Need for Speed: Carbon is what boosted the popularity of touge drifting. It came out the same year too.
@@Gideon13397 Haha! Finally! Someone notices!

How does Korey throw around all kinds of “bitch, ho, skank”, etc but draws the line at “trailer trash” lmao
I watched this back in 2006. My head exploded watching them drop the engine from a Japanese car into a Ford Mustang. There are multiple reasons why this would not work.
35:11 if you think Han's death scene in TD is retconned silly now? Wait til you see how F9's explanation as to how Han got out of there lol
Tell me
He did a nick fury from winter soldier
The writer of F9 just retconned his death. Nothing special really.
I actually like how "Fast Five" provided the explanation for Han's constant snacking LOL. The franchise is self-aware.
Was the bully jock Zachary Brian from Home Improvement?
Yeah it was haha
I enjoyed Tokyo Drift. It brought us Drifting.
True on the second part of your comment.

Remember the title screen from Revenge of Shinobi?
That was lifted from a Sonny Chiba shot from Kage no Gundan.
Chris’s country accent is cracking me up 😂😂
17:24 he’s so country that Kid Rock is playing in the background 🤣
They capitalized, in film form, on the hype of drifting at the time. It was growing more in American culture with Initial D and Need for Speed Carbon, it was just fun to watch. Bow wow? Not so much. Lol but the drifting and story was good enough
The drifting was amazing in this film. Other than that……
I remember when me and my friends went to cinema to watch this and that scene where the guy drifts up the spiral car park we started cheering so hard. Its was epic and loved it.
Have you seen the Initial D movie from 2006?. That also features Drifting.
@Budgie Cat Thanks for the detailed answer. Cheers!
Hans cames back from the dead eating chips lol😂😎😂😎
Fast and Furious 4 i think was such an underated movie. Everyone still felt human and true to their orginal chracter, Everyones motive were clear. The main antagonist was good. Even the main henchmen were too.
I agree a lot of people call it essentially a reboot or remake of the first but honestly it's what the series needed to course correct back on track if they wanted it to survive.
the cgi racing and stunts pulled me out even if the story acting drama and music and direction wre all great.
I always got annoyed that he went to a Japanese school when can't even understand the language. There are international schools in Tokyo, why not having him there!
His Dad's in the US Navy in Japan, so he should have been sent to an American School there for Navy Brats.

It was on Netflix last year and I watched for the first time. It took me two weeks to watch the whole thing because it was so cringy I had to stop after 10 minutes.
The high school bully is the oldest son from Home Improvement. That blatantly using someone who played high school student in 90s.
I knew he looked familiar
@@robtheoutsider He looked too old to play high school student on Home Improvement, even though he was technically of decent age range to play high school student but 6 years later was far stretch.
I’m glad that Korey and Chris celebrated the 15th anniversary of Tokyo Drift with this video 😂
I'm seriously sick of this thing where Korey needs to apologize for the none "PC" words he's going to use. Korey. You do you! Stop apologizing!
He’s gotta do that just in case. ToS and such. He’s just being careful as to not get his videos taken down or demonetized.
The liberals would cancel him if he didn’t do so.
So true 👏👏

I’m pretty sure he’s sent to an international high school
So they would speak English there
Tokyo Drift has been my favorite since I was like 13, when it came out. Its the memories.
I love 1-6... I have no idea how anyone can sit through 7& 8. They're just ridiculous.
11:34 I watched this whole video and I'm surprised no one recognized the bully as Zachary Ty Bryan from "Home Improvement".
The next movie I want to hear your thoughts on is “ Save the Last Dance”. Loved it as a kid, but watching it now…
I still got a soft spot for it; it’s a bit corny and everything but as a Chicagoan, I always love seeing my city in more of a light that’s better than what most think. What you see when you watched it now 👀
@@avgnfandon2 I agree it’s corny but it’s still charming and has a place in my heart.

Damn, Chris' impression of Luca Black in this movie got me weak lol
I live in the area that Lucas Black is from. So the last couple of days I just listened to people talking. Do we all sound like that? Yep, we do. Haha

Holy shit!! It's Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor's oldest son!
He becomes a bully!!?!! 😂😂🤣🤣
Well said, and F9 ... oh boy🥱
19:25 makes for a great Bobby Hill impression 😂

Okay, so Lucas Black was born November 29, 1982, and Tokyo Drift came out June 06, 2006 so he was somewhere in between 23-24 years old. Yeah, def not High School age unless he flunked-out that many times (laughs).
100% the reason they went with the teenage/high school angle was to rope in the younger audience. I was around 12 years old when this released and Lucas Black looking like a full grown man was something I didnt even notice 😂
