You are the best coach because you take key concepts but explain them in a way that is easy to do & train. You are so young too that i genuinely believe you will change the industry. I’ll be following along every step of the way
Very good exercise!! I will incorporate that into my warmup routine before heading to the course. That combined with proper wrist hinge and right arm tuck will certainly help. Agree, getting more fluid is very key to consistent strikes. 👍
This is absolute gold. And the only "golf tip" anyone will need from anywhere. I only recently understood and felt this motion in the golf swing, and like he has mentioned instant 5 to 7mph increase in club head speed. It only took me 30 yrs of practice. God bless the luck ones who finds this video!
this is a good one. you can't believe how many years it took me to figure this out, I figured it out on my own but had struggled for many years. in the past golf teachers would only allude to the pivot movement by saying like just swing your arms and turn back and through but that is kinda vague and leads to an inconsistent action. thnx for the info.
This was really eye opening. I tried this for 10 minutes with the dumbbell, focusing on the weight shift to the right foot, and how the hip creates a figure 8. Then I tried hitting some balls with the 7 Iron and hybrid. All I can say is wow! Shot after shot… consistent powerful draw. Thank You!!!! This was a💡 moment
Thanks as you finally cured my reverse spine angle after many years of spending money on coaching and hours of TH-cam trying to stop it. Great videos and my go too when seeking golf tuition. Thanks again.
This is an excellent way Giles to not only learn weight transfer, but also timing and rhythm! Well Done! Looking forward to a lot of good lessons from you in 2025! Happy New Year!!!
I really like this dumbbell exercise .. I'm going to have to start using this. I don't have the problems that you are illustrating in this drill, but I can see where this drill can be quite beneficial no matter your skill level or your particular swing flaws. Great drill !!! .. I would add one thing to your dumbbell exercise, focus on pulling the weight back with your shoulder. For example, when pulling the weight back (for right hander), pull it back with your right shoulder as much as you can. Similarly with the forward swing, focus on pulling the weight with your left shoulder. During my takeaway, I start my takeaway with my right shoulder, this helps to keep my left shoulder down through the backswing and also helps me to keep big separation of my hands away from my head. I think doing this with that weight would help to train to automatically using your shoulder to "pull" the start of your backswing.
my past coach did a similar drill for me whenever I got too tense/out of sync, was on the backswing let the clubhead be the last thing that moves. Keeps my a lot looser, because the clubhead will move if you're stiff.
The dumbbell or kettlebell would work for at home or a gym. What do you think about swinging two or three clubs together for the weight at the course before the round?
The big clue is in the word `swing` 😇 sit on a swing and you naturally exert inertia with the legs from knee down setting your entire mass in motion ,reciprocating mass about your C of G is the same principle in golf i guess ,great lesson and straight to the point...👌
To rate this video a 10 in stead of a 9, you should have talk about feeling the momentum of the club head in order to star the downswing. The same momentum you experience when you play with a kid pushing a park swing. Finding this momentum is what makes your swing really really smooth, effortless and powerful. By the way, this video literally makes you doubt about all this crap about rotating the hip before starting the downswing, when is the flow of the movement what drives naturally the hip rotation and everything else in conjunction. Thanks a lot for the video.
I like this drill. Keeps you feeling athletic. I think there is some danger with it in initiating the backswing with the hips which isnt the best idea, however. Thats the only caveat
The best bit about the extra weight is that it forces you to keep your buttocks against that imaginary wall to stay inside starting the downswing, which is where i have struggled. It really is a great feel and super helpful.
That is the move! Imagine if you were pulling a long heavy whip, then cracking it out in front. It's the same move - you keep the slack out of the Swing using your consistent body weight movement instead of muscling it.
I love hearing that your client gained 5mph. People have so much potential to get better at this game and it's lessons like (eureka moments*) this that pass on the formula.
If you’ve enjoyed todays video then it would be amazing if you could like the video, subscribe to the channel & send the video to your buddies 😁
Thanks, Giles!! Another great and SIMPLE video lesson!!

Thank you so much Harry! I really hope I do make a big splash in the industry!
Awesome lesson. Very good basics no one should skip learning to play golf. I will definitely give it a try.
Exactly that! I’m glad you agree

That’s a great idea of incorporating it into your warmup routine before you go to the course!
Absolutely brilliant!
Thank you!
Great video!!! Feeling free swing instead of stacking .. going to work on this movement.
You got this!

Finally, simple, common sense golf training videos that aren't all click bait hype and crap content.
Thank you!
Great explanation!!! ❤ 💯 👍
Thank you!
Great lesson. Yes you described my backswing confusion perfectly :)
Great to hear! Hope this helps!
Brilliantly explained.

Exactly that! Pivot is important but so are your arms!
Best weight shift video I have seen - cannot wait to try the drill 🙏🏌🏼♂️
Thank you so much! Let me know how it goes!
A million thank yous. This was a great video
You’re welcome!
Awesome video! I saw a bit of prestretch right at the top of the swing and beginning of the downstroke. Nice!
Thanks
Great lesson coach!!
Glad you liked it!

FANTASTIC !!! SO GOOD ! I'm like totally confident too! 10 lb is perfect
Amazing!
Very nice. Clever concept here.
Thank you!
Brilliant!
Thank you!
Nice Giles - thanks
My pleasure!
Thanks. This creates all the feels and movements I've been looking for. Just trying not to drop the dumb bell .LOL
Don’t drop it on those toes 😂 Hope this helps!

Can do the shoulder feeling just as long as you pair it with your feet movement
@@Gilesgillgolf - seems it would help to keep your shoulders on proper a plane.
@ yes, it definitely will

Love that feeling for you
Shift turn shift turn👍
Love that!
The dumbbell or kettlebell would work for at home or a gym. What do you think about swinging two or three clubs together for the weight at the course before the round?
I would say swinging a bucket of balls would be better. This is more for learning the move but you can use it as a warm up too
The big clue is in the word `swing` 😇 sit on a swing and you naturally
exert inertia with the legs from knee down setting your entire mass

Gonna try this, probably, daily. Any wrist hinge exercises we can do? I can't stand hitting off matts, i can mishit and still hit a decent shot.
I have lots of videos with wrist hinge drills 👍🏻
Nice drill Giles! How many reps with the dumbell and then the club pr day would you suggest?
All I would say is it’s quality over quantity
Any changes for the driver? Thank you.
No chances

No problem at all! If you stick with my content, you’ll find all the answers as I am very consistent with my message👍🏻
@@Gilesgillgolfyour content is super high quality. Thanks for your time.
Great drill and guess what IT WORKS Thanks mate😅
Happy to help!
I am a senior - 8 to 10 pound weight heavy enough? I notice you are using a 15 pounder. Thanks, excellent video!
You need something that is heavy enough to force your body to move not your arms
I like this drill. Keeps you feeling athletic. I think there is some danger with it in initiating the backswing with the hips which isnt the best idea, however. Thats the only caveat
All the best players initiate this way. If you don’t then you’re only holding yourself back 👍🏻
The best bit about the extra weight is that it forces you to keep your buttocks against that imaginary wall to stay inside starting the downswing, which is where i have struggled. It really is a great feel and super helpful.
Right hip will always come off the wall but left hip pushes back in the downswing
Old plastic 4 pint milk bottle filled with water, perfect if you haven't got a dumbell or kettlebell.
Great suggestion!

Dr Kwon has entered the chat.
People have been doing this long before Dr Kwon 👍🏻
I detected a shortness of breath Giles…you have the weightlifting down now you need to work on the cardio lol
Great lesson thanks!
My asthma was kicking my butt

I get that feeling swinging very fast, not really making a golf swing, just a fast baseball like swing low.
Feel isn’t always real
👏👏👏👍💪💯
Thank you!
I did this years ago to help my back and got to loopy... All my buddies started calling me Jim Fyurik. Good idea but a happy medium lol
Can always over do any change
Dr. Kwon.
Love Dr Kwon
Sam Snead said that he was swinging his best when he felt as if his swing was “oily”. And there you have it…
Love it
