    Lance are great rigs. The tank pull in the front is to drain the fresh water tank. Sidewalls have Azdel outside and inside. The roof is PVC.

    Being a West Coaster and a Lance fan I thought to add a couple of thoughts.
    Lance has been using Azdel since 2010.
    For those that don't like the bendy bed and radius shower, check out the model 1985.
    It is about the same length as the 1995 but has a permanent walk around queen bed and a rear bathroom with a rectangular shower.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was actually on the lookout for a 1985 and they just didn’t have any on hand

    • @patrickyoung5348
      @patrickyoung5348 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think both the 1985 and 95 have the bendy bed as options and most dealers order there stock models with them but you can order without. At least that’s how it was in the past few model years.
      There are some things I like better in the 1985 better in addition what is mentioned above. It has a larger TV in a location I like better.
      I am disappointed that Lance went away from the Dexter torsion axles that they used in prior years. Hopefully that is just a temporary supply chain thing.

    We upgraded from a Rockwood and waited 9 months for our 2022 1995. We LOVE it. We selected the non-Murphy bed version which provides much welcome under-bed storage, and the batteries are accessible from outside the trailer. A couple of corrections. The three propane tanks are all the same size. The forward tank is on a lower shelf. The gray and black water dump valves are next to each other near the dump pipe (which we agree hangs too low). The forward valve is the fresh water dump, which is really great to have.

Sense getting it the only camper that's made me think about trading is a Ember. I love the pull out drawers also, take plates and silverware out to the picnic table and bring it all back in, super easy clean up! plus I had water issues, my fault, I forgot to winterize the outside faucet but I discovered all the walls screw out and go back in nice and easy, no working on stuff through a 4x6 hole. It was a awesome discovery, and little round caps that just snap back on to cover the screws, like nothing happened.

    As a current 2018 1685 Lance Owner, I am glad you got the chance to go through a Lance. At the time I purchased mine, I wanted a small trailer that was small enough to get into state park campgrounds and still be reasonably well built and nice. I also wanted a gas stove with an oven and a larger fridge. The galley is large enough to cook a meal of reasonable complexity. I think the idea of those plastic galley drawers is you're supposed to be able to take them outside while grilling. I have yet to do that...............they work OK, but you have to open the door in front of them before you can slide them out each time. And yes, I too wish they would have installed flexible shelving in that tall closet in the rear. A lot of Lance owners build their own shelves in that closet.
    The insulation is great and I have used my trailer in temperatures down to the 20s and it stayed toasty warm. The 6 gallon water heater works fine for me and I have yet to run it out of hot water. If I were to buy a new unit, I would be happy with the 6 gallon tank water heater, but that's just me. When I bought my trailer, my sewage outlet was too low as well, which is why I added a axle lift kit that Lance offered at the time. It added just under three inches to the trailer height which helped a lot with the sewage height. I suspect that sewage pull handle in front of the tires is actually the fresh water tank drain..........at least that is what it is on my unit.
    The 2022 Lance model year had a lot of changes from previous years. A new frame, ducted AC and the euro windows are just a few of the changes. It will be interesting to see how these units develop going forward.
    Cheers!

And that door is awesome! I like that the Murphy bed doesn’t block the window. Neat armrests, and the little storage cubbies by the bed. I like the tankless water heater, definitely. Overall a really nice couples trailer, really nice.

      @shaneq1932 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think more RV manufacturers should adopt some of the Euro styling. The recessed wheel arches look great. I cannot understand why they are not more mainstream. The benefits for stability, fuel efficiency and step height into trailer are more than offset by the loss of storage.

  • @zedzott6301
    @zedzott6301 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Had that model made in 2018. Loved it & would buy another if I had viable storage for it. The kitchen plastic drawers worked fine for us, plus we could remove the bottom drawer and put some tall stuff down there. Also, most Lance owners modify those two storage closet/cabinets to fit their needs. We put a 3 tier wire rack in the tall closet & still had room to hang longish coats and fit the broom and minivac along with a ton of shoes. We put shelves in the short cabinet for pantry items. With the extended shower rod we found the radial shower fit us fine (and I am not a small person in any dimension). If you’d sat in the dining slide and stuck your feet up with your back to the window you’d find another great spot to relax on a rainy day. We would swap out the regular table for a small “cocktail”table for a little more elbow room. We won each fit 6 people at the regular table in that. Dinette slide. It was a big part of why we loved that trailer. We had the lifted model with solar and never found a place we couldn’t get into or out of. It may not look like a boondocker.,but the can sure handle the job. And loved the large tank sizes.

    Lance makes a very good product . Way back they were known for their excellent slide in campers for pickups. Expensive; but well built. We looked at this one a couple of years back. They make a great deal of sense & use of space. We found for us, as is typical with most factory provided mattress; they can be back breakers. Upgrading the mattress can be difficult, finding one that still folds.But if it may still works for you.

  • @markreams3192
    @markreams3192 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a 2021 Lance 1995 that I live in full time. I opted for the bed without the sofa which gives better storage and the ability to change out the mattress which I did with a memory foam mattress. I really like the plastic drawers. You can pull them out and wash them in the nice large kitchen sink. They’re also pretty heavily built and if there’s a problem you can just order one and replace it. I use divider bins from Bed Bath and Beyond to organize the drawers. The Smart Jack doesn’t always work and the switch panel will deteriorate in the sun which mine did. You need to keep it covered when not in use. LCI sent me a new jack without question. The three propane tanks are all 20# tanks. I like the gas electric water heater. When on shore power you don’t have to use propane. My biggest issue is the schwintek slide coming out of time and of course it was out of warranty. It was an $850 repair. Every tech I’ve talked to agree that the Schwintek slide is not well built and the probability of problems and repair are high. My trailer is going to Tucson to have the Vroom slide system installed. Tiffin is now using this system for repair on their motor homes. It is far superior in construction to the Schwintek. Lance is built in Lancaster California. I was just there.

    We have a 2022 1995. The batteries under the bed and a couple of other items were short lived - all units other than a few early builds have the batteries in outside compartments. Also, the little cubbyholes next to the bed are open shelves. I agree the plastic trays in the kitchen seem a little cheap and out of character, but I think I have more storage vs. drawers, plus I can just grab the silverware tray and take it to our dining location. This is our first rig and so far it has been rock solid and we’re very happy with it

    Not only is the interior construction different, so is the interior. Lance uses 1/2" plywood for interior walls that have Azdel too. So the walls are solid inside and out. Three other big things I like about Lance 1) they use screws to construct just about everything instead of staples like so many other brands use 2) they provide access panels to plumbing and electrical 3) they use a wire harness that is cleanly routed and they will provide you with a wiring schematic... I found a yellow wire that was not connected and when I asked about it I found out that it was pre-wired for reverse lights!

    Late to the party here. I am an 1995 owner. The plastic pull out bins are fairly easy to get used to. You can also grab the silverware drawer and take it out to the picnic table. I added more shelves to the big closet just as you mentioned. It's wonderful. The white handle up front is not for the grey tank, it is a freshwater tank drain pull for winterization. The black and grey handles are back by the drain pipe. It's a great trailer and we love it.

    Loved thr review. For the longest time, I wanted this model. Between cost and lack of availability I gave up on it, not that it isn't an amazing trailer. But when I was getting a slide topper on my Flagstaff, I wandered the lot. They had a similar Lance and the dinette felt claustrophobic. I didn't know how much the size of the slide-out mattered. This has a ton of amazing features (still trying to talk my wife into a DIY cubby in storage by the head of the bed) and I'm going to show this video as an example.

    This is a great TT with a lot of function in a shorter unit. I saw a 2020 Lance 1985 on Travels with Delaney. They purchased the Lance and I believe it is the equivalent floorplan with the Murphy bed and the large, step-up dinette. The bathroom layout in their 1985 I believe is different. I appreciate the variety of campers you bring now that you are part of Bish's. I like seeing more Class B/C.

    Josh, totally agree with you about the lights being on that switch. It’s a few dollars in wire…. Love a lot of things about the lance, looked at them a few years ago but were out of the price range. Love the picnic table storage, slider, and external storage compartment on the driver side. It’s a great use of dead space. Also like the toy lock! Not to forget that underbelly looks tough! Not much left to add to this thing from the factory! Maybe a 12v fridge option?

    Really enjoyed this review. I think other manufacturers need to start incorporating features and construction techniques used by Lance. I've already had to shake my head a few times at things I've seen on my new trailer as far as quality is concerned. Your comment about the underbelly access really hit home for me. The dealership that I purchased my Freedom Express from used the razor blade approach to access the underbelly when they installed my solar package, and now I have a large piece of underbelly that won't stay closed. The tape just doesn't hold it up. I need to figure out how to fix it before some critters (or rodents) figure out it's there and decide to make a nice warm home for the winter.

    Lance has a very loyal following but in my opinion they are still just an oversized truck camper design with a hitch and axles. They are exceptionally nicely trimmed out inside and very marine-like in their appointments. That said, I camp with several friends who own them and here in the PNW all have gotten them hung up on something due to low ground clearance. The bumpers are very light and I’ve seen several torn off from the minimal weight of two bicycles, so nice to see a receiver. Hopefully it has stronger mounts than their bumper. We’ve considered Lance in our last two purchases but never could get past the miniaturized truck camper interior features, low clearance, low ceilings, cramped slide out and shower, and of course the high price. You can buy a fully loaded Northwood or ORV for less.
