I know this is an old video but YES they should make a murphy bed version of this. Also changing the dinette to a breakfast bar would help make it feel more spacious and make room for a pantry on the camp side wall. Id use the generator prep for exterior storage or a mini fridge..OR maybe put a big lithium battery bank and inverter in there and take advantage of the prewiring for the generator. Great camper, great video, thanks Josh!

I really love this brand. Arctic Fox is so old school and reminds me of the 90s floor plans I used to camp in as a kid. This is one of the last companies that truly only cares about quality and capability rather than lightweight and pretty interior’s. Great video as always Josh. And thank you for these videos!

Love having a dinette with windows over your campsite. This is very nice if you have kids outside and an adult inside, keeping an eye out. The layout is very nice.
Bed? Either is fine as we make the bed a lounge area when it's open like this anyway. The cabinets being different on either side of the bed is also desirable. I would turn party of the closet in the bathroom as a pantry. I'd probably purchase a shelf unit and modify that space. Love having the space area. Like it a lot! Thanks for sharing

  • @rogereide

A Murphy bed would make this one a real contender. The seating facing the television and extra room by getting the bed folded away. It would be hard to beat. I can easily work around the lack of pantry. In fact In some floor plans I would definitely prefer the extra counter space over a pantry

    • @mgkleym
      @mgkleym 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think the bathroom closet is large enough to pull double duty as a pantry. The counter space is such a stand out feature on something this size.

Nice - I like the fixed bed but I would figure out a way to add a drop down tv over the kitchen area, get rid of the dinette and add a theater seat for rainy camping days. We tend to eat outside but I can see why this has appeal.

The shower controls and supply lines have to be below the bottom of the refrigerator. Josh even pointed out the fact that they are beside each other. The Murphy bed would come at the expense of lost storage and probably a lower pass through storage.

I’d like a Murphy, but I want a sofa there like the Grand Design 17MKE, with drawers underneath, and a table…and two dinette chairs for the other side. Then where the dinette is I want theater seats, then I want the TV moved over on the kitchen side, and a cabinet put where the tv is now. I love that closet in the bathroom. I do wish it wasn’t so dark brown, but I feel like I’m being picky asking for another color scheme because I basically rearranged everything above. This is a super cute!

Very nice Coach! This would make an excellent base camp.
I would prefer the counter space over a pantry in this case as it is hard to find a decent amount of counter space in a smaller trailer.........and I could always store pantry stuff in some sort of tote if I have to. Glad to see lots of drawers and storage as well.
You are right, the position of the shower faucet leaves a lot to be desired. As I actually use the shower in my RV, this would be a dealbreaker for me. Who the heck would want to deal with that each time you take a shower. There may be some engineering reason the faucet was placed where it was, but there must be some sort of solution (especially in a high end trailer like this one) that would fix this issue.
I'll have to keep this one on my list when it is time for me to upgrade.

I wish the build quality of mine was as nice as this one, but otherwise it meets all of my needs. Maybe I'll upgrade to the Arctic Fox brand in the future. Anyway, I boondock a lot and absolutely LOVE not having slide outs. All I have to do is drop the stairs and I'm set up for the night!

We have a 2019 Outdoors RV 21KVS (also made by Northwood) and have LOVED its sturdiness, insulation, and comfort from WA to ME to TX and AZ and dozens of trips up & down the WA & OR coasts during the fall & winter. We are considering upgrading to a smaller 5th wheel when we go full time & are seriously considering an Arctic Fox. The one thing we strongly dislike and may be a deal breaker, tho, is the baby poop colored counter tops--expensive fix. Otherwise, Northwood Mfg products are top notch!

To answer your question about the Murphy bed. Granted they are a good use of space. The down side is the mattresses tend to be back breakers. They are not easily (if at all) to upgrade. They need to a seam of sorts to be able to bend or if they fold up into the wall securely, they need to be fairly thin. We looked hard & long at several and could not find a "cure".

Josh: Thanks for the review of the 2022 Arctic Fox 22G. A great no slide RV. Now a few questions and observations. When can we expect this rig to be in stock at Coldwater or any of the Michigan Bish stores? There’s slam latches and magnet holdbacks on the basement doors but what looks like a common CH751 lock on the generator compartment. Why? Like the battery disconnect in the passthru. Keeps it out of weather and road hazards. It’s obvious that the shower faucets are mounted down low to accodomate people for those who turn the water on and off with their toes. It is a toe-able RV after all.😊😊😊
Is that a black tank flush behind the door just aft of thee city water connection or an outside shower? And what’s behind the locking rear door at the bottom right of the ladder? Like that the rig is rear camera prepped. And is that an LED light bar over the sewer outlet for lighting the way for midnight tank dumping? I’d vote NO on your Murphy bed question. As to the rainy day TV viewing, why would someone be inside? There’s no such thing as bad weather, only people who aren’t dressed appropriately for the weather. Besides water will dry. Or at least that's what the old CPO would say. 🤣😁🤣😁Respectfully, W.S.

I really like a lot if it and having no slides is a huge attraction for me, but having a good video with no fish eye so seeing the limited space and no pantry is a pretty big sticking point for me. Very glad that was pointed out. Also I'm surprised that not only for boondocking but for the less flexible of us they dont have a showermiser and faucet system higher up. Also, I am slowly getting more interested in Murphey beds after seeing how well Ember did it. Also in this case it could be another case of only lift it if you want with no slides. The big closet space in the bathroom should have the option of a washer/dryer combo and to through in a few more, I think they should all offer a cassette/compostable toilet (for me I personally would rather have the extra fresh water tank and not have to deal with a black tank at all. I also think they should offer instead of the dinette booth two swivel comfy chair’s with either a center table or two separate one’s that attach to the chair’s, that way you can swivel your seat around to watch out the window. I like the Murphy bed idea IF they could make one that was flat, strait and decorative matching the rest of the wall cabinetry without the mattress folding or showing like in the 2023 FOREST RIVER Flagstaff Micro Lite 21DS and yes the shower handle is super strange 🤣. Also an optional fully loaded off grid solar package, optional 12 volt frig and optional off road package. That would be the perfect rv.

I just bought a 2010 AF 22G earlier this month. It was well used by the first owner, but for $5500, I think I did OK. The dealership had a hard time selling it due to a front frame issue. The Aframe was pushing into the body, and flexing all over the place. If you look at the design, how the Aframe connects to the frame, it starts to make sense. There isn't any leverage used. As weight is pushed down, it tries to twist the end of the frame, this is resisted by a plate that is welded between the Aframe. Putting this plate into tension on the top, and compression on the bottom. On mine, it wasn't obvious, but this plate was broken on both sides. I added a 4x4 3/16 tube below, and used some custom U bolts to pull the Aframe down. I welded it to the frame, but honestly probably wasn't needed. 1,500 miles later and its rock solid. Larger RVs use an Aframe that is welded below the frame, and a cross member above, I achieved the same result, and am still above the jacks for clearance. The interior is well built, I don't have the shower valves sticking out. Layout is pretty much the same. I will take the extra counter space over a pantry any day. I looked at the H model, and... it's strange. I like the idea of a couch, but the implementation... I like the larger walk around bed instead

YASSSS!!! This is the exact layout I want. Dinette and walk-around bed. Being a solo camper, no Murphy bed for me. Not having a pantry made me hesitate, but there are similar layouts without one as well. And from what I've seen, most rv pantries have a lot of dead space requiring you to rig something up to make good use of the room. I like the idea of splitting up the wardrobe into half closet/half shelving. And what *is* up with that shower?!?! Oh...and suggestion for Bish's website: can it be designed so the filter can EXCLUDE certain features as well as look for them? Like, I would exclude bunk beds.

@@chasinspring True; also carry it low. That's one reason why I've liked this floorplan. I've always pictured carrying canned goods and such under the dinette. It's in the perfect spot. Maybe I need to re-think how much pantry space I need as a solo traveler.

I’ve loved arctic fox for a long time now, they had me at “we design & build our own chassis’s”. The build quality is just amazing. I’m probably in the minority but I vote no on the Murphy bed. Our first rig had one and it had a car bench seat feel and no arm rests and the bendy mattress was terrible. And as someone who does some pretty ambitious cooking while camping, personally I’d rather have the extra counter space. I could definitely make that overhead & under the bench storage work, heck, you can put the extra bags of chips & hotdog rolls under the bed. I have a question, does Bish’s carry Arctic Fox truck campers? I’d absolutely love to see some videos featuring those!! Thanks for another great video, I really appreciate that you’re always trying to show us something new & different.

Love my 2021, great construction. Wish it had larger fresh and grey water tanks, 60 gallons would be nice. I threw out the propane refrigerator because it didn’t work in negative temps. I put in a 40” tv, and 60”x80” queen bed. I like the dinette because of extra storage. The shower is a good size. I use the bathroom closet for my pantry. Camped in Montana in -40* no problems

A "Murphy" would allow a couch/recliner that would face the TV. I would love that just as long as it's not a "bendy" bed, so at some point I can put a better mattress there. Re: Shower plumbing, The adjustable shower head is only two bolts from the back into the hardware, it takes no space at all.

OK i have been following for a good time... watch almost every video you do unless its way to big for me and the wife and maybe a kiddo. ( i did watch the 700k motor home one for a dream ) this is what im looking for, could you some how do a comparison video for no slides from say 18 to 22 feet from high end to low end. 1/2 ton towable ( and yes i know every truck is different ) I love this one but at 30k its hard to swallow. but at the same point i know its quality. Need some quality prows and cons on why buy one over another or as id say here is a size range no slides and this is what you'd recommend at a given price point. For me.. Im not a bells and whistles guy, I but the best trucks i can afford but almost always in the contractor series. No carpet, rubber floor mats, dont need heated seats or steering wheels. I go for the long run with no issues. That's why i done even want a slide just another thing to break. sorry this was so long

I have a 22 foot travel trailer with no slides that I bought brand new in 2013. IMO, it's just the right size for 2 people and a little dog. In some locations, slides will keep you out of there.
One of the mods I did was to remove the cabinet for the radio because we don't listen to a radio anyway which cleared out some floor space. The next mod was to remove the dining booth. I kept the table and just moved it 90 degrees flush with the window and use 2 folding chairs.
Honestly, we spend the day light hours exploring and the night hours just to sleep.

Hey Josh.....we all know you have some pull with the manufacturers. Can we as viewers get you to ask Northwood why they don't put Vinly Euro double pane windows in there RV'S. If they are trying to make the most energy efficient products, then why not? I don't think it is cost. Consumers would pay the difference anyway. I know I would. Also, tell them about my idea of a on demand heated membrane above the thermal barrier for their slides. I won't even ask for commission on the idea!!! 😂
