As someone who purchased a Steam Deck LCD a month before even being aware the OLED Deck was a thing and before it launched (sadge), It was definitely an amazing purchase to have basically a console/computer in the palm of my hands and pretty much replace my home system for gaming! Can't wait to see what new versions of the device we'll see in the future!
That pretty much happened to me. I purchased my Steam Deck LCD (512gb) during the summer sale last year. June 29, 2023. Well, what do you know, if I had waited until November, I'd have an OLED instead. LOL. I remember feeling like a total donkey afterwards. Ah, well, I'm currently on the market for an Alienware gaming laptop now. The Steam Deck got me into PC gaming.
This has been a great informative honest review. I have the OLED here in Ireland. I only play games on it. No emulation etc. This video makes me feel like I'm wasting opportunities, considering what it's really capable of 😅. Cheeeeers for a great review. 👍
For the noise: replacing stock thermal paste (or any thermal paste really) with Honeywell PTM7950 thermopad is just ridiculously good upgrade. Once you do that it is quiet and has better thermal efficiency. It should be stock solution to be honest, I couldn't believe how massive change in fan nosie can one simple solution make.
@@shto4782 Overall better performance (especially) on higher wattage, huge screen with better resolution, detachable controllers, plus I have big hands, and the Go has more of a comfortable feel to it for me. I use the deck as my main pc when docked during the day and then game on it in the evening and the experience is excellent! And uses such little electric compared to a laptop or pc doing the same thing!
when it comes to the touchpads I actually set them up to move 45 degrees when moving your thumb between the left edge to the right edge. I also activate trackball and set the friction "high" that way I can get the amount of camera movement into my muscle memory... and if I "flick" left to right the trackball feature will take over and I can consistently do a instant 180 degree turn. I much prefer the trackpads than right analogue sticks due to this. They are just SO much quicker and precise than the slow linear motion of an analogue stick... I mean ultimately the analgoue stick was ALWAYS a compromize when it came to FPS games, but it somehow became the default way to play them on consoles.
I just ordered one of these on a whim because I found it for a great price and within the last 24 hours you've become one of my favorite TH-camrs as I've been looking up dozens of game benchamarks in anticipation. Amazing videos, keep up the good work!

You need to keep the Ally in perspective. Yes it has better performance at higher wattages. But if you think the Steam Deck uses battery, you are in for a surprise.
