    I'm changing the thumbnail for a while to share a new Avery photo the My Time Series director Xuzhi (Bamna_Piggy on discord) uploaded to discord. If you are interested, there is an entire post on discord by Xuzhi asking for Avery story suggestions. It's a fun read! It's under My Time at Evershine - Questions/Suggestions - Come On! Talk about Avery! The My Time community has some great story suggestions! 🥰🥰

    I imagine the 40 hours is the "speedrun mainquest only, skipping all non-essential and/or romance quests"

    • @Lexi_Plays_Games
      @Lexi_Plays_Games  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think a normal playthrough will be about 70-80 hours not counting side/character quests, speedrun as you said probably 40. I wish I knew why the original number for hours they floated around was 40 because that's a short game! They have since clarified that the length will be closer to Portia which is about 65-70.

    10:50 watching this playlist late…I am so glad you made a video on the history! I haven’t watched it yet, but I will. I played Sandrock and fell in love with the universe. I just started Portia and I want to finish that before watching the history!

    Thank you sm for taking the time to let us know all the info in one video :) I'm gonna back this one for sure but I'm crossing my fingers for the older dude to be a romanceable character, Avery and Ragnar are handsome and all but I prefer a slightly more mature looking dude with some facial hair so I'm hoping they add him (plus he looks like an older rugged Logan... 🥺). The art looks so pretty and I love that Pathea are developing their style and gameplay with every game!
    I like that they made the builder look like an adult so I don't get the criticism, as a 31 year old woman I prefer looking like an adult tbh lol I do hope they keep some of the men tall compared to the builder though, couples with height disparities are normal (I'm 5'5 my husband is 6'5) so height doesn't indicate age! I like the direction overall though and I'm VERY excited to know more about Evershine :) the only thing I want them to keep is the lighthearted humor, Pathea does humor well so I hope they don't get too "serious"!

      You're welcome! I'm hoping for the gray haired gentleman to be romanceable too! I would also like to know his name.😂I don't know if I would even romance him, but just the ability to romance someone older would be a nice change. Sandrock kind of had that with Miguel...but he was also Miguel and we know how he turned out...so nope!
      I love the new art and the devs seem so excited for the new art, that's why I'm a little surprised by the criticism. I know not everyone likes change, but there would be equal if not more criticism if the art stayed exactly the same as Sandrock. I would rather see the art style evolving. Just knowing the fact that they listen to the majority of the audience who want to look more mature feels nice. It is nice to see a dev team simply listen to the players and adapt to what the players want! I wish more teams did that! I don't care too much about the height difference just being proportional is nice. I wanted the oversized head and tiny neck gone! 🤣I thought the height difference between the builder and Logan was adorable! But yea, I'm very excited! I'm backing the game for sure! Can't wait for more info!

      @@Lexi_Plays_Games YES!! They listened to us, we hated the bobblehead builders from Portia so they gave us the better version in Sandrock and now they're evolving even more in Evershine why are people shocked? Lol. LOL! The bobblehead! 😂🤣 I think if this were any other dev team, I would be worried, but Pathea really has gone above and beyond listening to the players! As long as the writing and voice acting stays on par with Sandrock, I think Evershine will be just fine! The criticism is sometimes very loud but I wish the critical people would just be patient, trust the development process and like we were all brought up to do, don't judge a book by its cover or a picture in this case.

    Tbh, i don't really care about the rest of the romance options at this point. As soon as i saw Avery as a romance option i put that game into my wishlist. Ive been wanting to romance Avery since i met the guy in My Time at Portia.

      That is 100% fine! I am also in that same Avery boat! 😂I think Ragnar is good looking, I will probably have a save where I try to marry him, but I'm an Avery girl! As soon as I saw him in Sandrock, then saw him again in the Project ME test, I wanted him romanceable for any game in the future! I was so excited I wouldn't have to wait long and it would be the next game! I'm happy other people have options, but I only need Avery! The more I see of him, the more it's only him! 🥰 I can't wait to see what they do with his character since he seems so stoic!

    Thank you for this very informative video !
    I am extremely disappointed with the Art style change, I don't feel like I'm looking at a My times game anymore and it feels odd seeing the realistic characters next to the cartoonish monsters and animals. I loved how the characters looked in My time at Sandrock it was such an upgrade from My time are Portia, personally I was happy with our builder being tiny and skinny as I'm very petite myself so I felt represented lol .
    But I do understand people wanting more realistic body size and shape, they could have added a height and weight slider for our builder, but as for all the other characters they ..all look so generic now? I get changing the art style but not this much :( .
    As the game is still in early making, I do hope they change the style a bit

    • @Lexi_Plays_Games
      @Lexi_Plays_Games  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When I first saw the art, I felt similar to you. But then when I really started to look at it and see the art side by side from Portia to Sandrock to Evershine, I became okay with it. It was mainly seeing how much better characters like Avery or the White haired woman (comparing her to Everglade) look now that I appreciated the new style. I didn't mind the petite builder in Sandrock either, the Portia characters looked really silly with the overly large heads 😂, but in Sandrock I was okay with the art because we finally became proportional. If we reach a high enough goal with the kickstarter, Evershine will have a height sliders. If we get that, I will still probably make my builder on the shorter size because I'm also short. 😊
      They definitely need to revisit the art for the monsters. The monsters look really silly now! 😂 Like the beavers in the trailer, it almost looks like it is a movie where the mix live action people with animated character (like Who Framed Roger Rabbit). I'm giving them the benefit that it's really early, but they need to go back to the drawing board for the monsters! I don't think the art will change drastically at this point, it will probably just be fine tuning. I think the player characters in the trailer look generic because they are the Lucy/Max models, so the base model of the governor. I think once players start to get their hands on the game, the governor will be better.

    Thank you very much for the informative video! I laughed with you, but when you compared the characters from Portia and Sandrock, I remembered Trudy and realized that she escaped from Portia haha. Now about Kickstarter .. we are a small group of people and we wanted to support Pathea, but as it turned out, Kickstarter does not accept payments from Russian cards, we are very upset and are now looking for ways to support our favorite team of developers. You're welcome! LOL That's too funny about Trudy! Someone else in the comments called the Portia characters bobbleheads and that image is ingrained in my brain now! Trudy is the perfect bobblehead with her hair! 😂🤣
      I have heard on discord a few people talking about the credit card situation for the kickstarter. It was as you stated that your country's cards wasn't accepted or their country has a different type of credit/debit cards numbering system (non-16 digits) that the kickstarter site wouldn't accept. That really is a shame! It would be great if they accepted Paypal or some other type of payment service. According to their site, they do accept prepaid cards. I have no clue how difficult it is for you to obtain a prepaid card. For me in the States, it is as easy as going to the grocery store. 😂I don't know if there is some type of virtual prepaid cards you can use. Maybe it is something you can look into?!? It is a little sad because the kickstarter limitation are stopping players from backing. There needs to be another a work around for players like you who want to support but can't! I feel so bad! 😥Not only can you not support the game as you want but you also miss out on the backer rewards. It really isn't fair! There is a group of people that really seem to like the Sandrock art style. It definitely was an improvement from Portia to Sandrock! People seem to think the new art is boring or lost it's charm. I can see that but the devs changed it because the majority of people wanted a proportional character. The art like the games should always be evolving but I think there is a group out there that hates change. Some people dislike the new art because they like the Sandrock builder's height and proportions. I like the new art, I'm not judging the governor's art too much because it's the default character. But characters like Avery or Logan, the new art is gorgeous! Those two characters alone make the art change the best change they've ever made! 😂

      It will be a change but I think the game play loop will be close enough you may not notice it. They have said it will still feel like Sandrock and Portia. From playing Project ME, it really was, even as a mobile game. I think the biggest change will be the delegation of tasks. Myself being a bit of a control freak and liking the grind of resource gathering, that might be tough for me. Working with Avery and Ragnar will help that! 😊 I think keeping an open mind going into it is key, they have said if people really don't like the running a settlement aspect, it will be less of a focus. There will also be a difficulty setting so if certain elements get to be too much, changing the difficulty might help to feel more Sandrock-like.

      That is my tin foil hat prediction for the story. The Sky Shark picture with Ursula and the older woman they released kind of really hints at that! Having 3 characters with the same hair color, same eyes and skin tone is just a little too weird for them not to be related somehow. So my tin foil hat theory is Ursula is Logan's half sister and the older woman their mom.

    It will be interesting to see how many of those followers actually become backers. Many people get excited about a new game and Kickstarter but can't necessarily afford to back. I still think that the overall number of backers for MTaE will surpass MTaS by quite a bit.
    As to my feelings on the artwork, well, you just can't please everyone. I'm glad they are evolving their art style along with the engine. This can only mean bigger and better in the future! The charm is more than the character design to me. Let's hope the "40+ hours" is like a chapter one situation and not the overall full release finished product. I'm like you, I want a longer game to immerse myself into.
    One thing you may not have known about our Portia characters: both male and female builders shared the exact same rigging. This is why your female character lumbers along like a guy. LOL! The change to two separate rigging mechanics in Sandrock made me so very happy.

    • @Lexi_Plays_Games
      @Lexi_Plays_Games  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I doubt the 19k will back the game. It will probably be somewhere around 12k. I think it depends on how many lower tier packages are available. I know it was limited in Sandrock. If they did more lower tier, it would probably balance out the same because more people would back at a lower price.
      I love the art style! I'm happy to see the evolution of it. I think there would be more criticism if the art style stayed the same. But I agree with you, the charm of the game comes from the writing, the characters, and the voice acting, not pictures. Pathea knows this and I believe they realize the players value this aspect of the game. I'm not worried about the game lacking the charm that Sandrock and Portia had. I'm more worried about the hours tbh. The 40+ hour thing I really want confirmed what that number means. I was tempted to email Pathea for this video but chickened out. 😂That is a huge cut time wise. I would say the main story of Sandrock is easily 100+ hours, with 30-40 of side stories/NPC stories. So even with that breakdown we are losing 60+ hours...that's a lot! If 40+ is the initial EA release, great but for the entire game which a lot of the wording seems to signal it meaning, then I'm a little disappointed.
      I didn't know that about the rigging. Thanks for the info! That makes a lot of sense when I look at it. I always wondered though why the Sandrock male builder is so bouncy when he runs. 😂The bounce is why I refuse to ever play as the male builder! It really annoyed me! 🤣

      @@Lexi_Plays_Games Usually the gameplay hours, that are on steam, are mainquest-hours. and 40 hours of pure mainquest is already huge. I (and as far as I'm aware I'm not the only one) thought that the sandrock mainquest, while overall interesting and fun, could have been a bit (!) more compact. Rapping up a good story in 40 hours is possible (RPGs do it all the time, the bigger ones have mainquestlines of about 30-50 hours) and I would hope for better sidecontent instead of dragging the mainquest out (for more characters. Sandrock had really good questlines for a few, but none or mediocre ones for others.)
      That said, for these estemated hours usually only stuff that is main-quest-progression related is counted, so, as an example, the one in-game month I spend on the longest day length ignoring the mainquest would not count towards the 40 hours. For peope who play at a slower pace, that very well could already be 60-80 hours of gameplay in a farm/life/simulation/rpg :D

    • @Lexi_Plays_Games
      @Lexi_Plays_Games  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just for clarification, I didn't look at Steam hours, I looked at the hours in the in-game menu. My steam hours are around 2100 hours for Sandrock.🤣 The in-game hours for that particular save is 145 (that is also my average save time for all my saves that are non-beta testing). In my response to the comment, I gave even more consideration to the side quests than in the video saying it was about 100 hours of main storyline, 30-45 hours of side quests and dawdling. The average time to finish the entire Sandrock story is 80 hours. So still even 80 down to 40 is a huge decrease. There were only a few missions in Sandrock that I thought were toss away missions, but even toss away as they might be, they still served a purpose to introduce something about a character or the story. The vast majority of missions I loved and I thought added to the story. I don't think 40 hours is enough time to tell a compelling story. Even Portia is about 60-70 hours and that story feels lacking in depth (80-90 hours is my average Portia save length for comparison). If you ever go back and play Portia after playing Sandrock, that lacking feeling becomes even more apparent!
      In the video I stated, if this is the length of the entire main story, there better be a lot of very in-depth beefy side content to make up the difference. All the characters are going to have to be fully developed. With a shorter story, they no longer have a long story to hide undeveloped characters or characters with zero missions. Sandrock had a lot of character with no missions! There is no excuse for any undeveloped characters if you are cutting out 40-60+ hours of gameplay.
      I am part of the community that prefers a longer story (I know I'm not the only one on this too). The majority of games I play are a large time commitment such as Fallout 4 and the Witcher III. I think the current Evershine hour cut is too drastic. I understand that these are estimated times. I think there is room for a happy middle somewhere to make both the long story and short story players happy. I would be happier with a game closer to Portia's hours just better written because as I said Portia was lacking.
      I apologize for the waffling! But anyway, I hope the time cut isn't noticeable. I hope the game feels just as warm and well written as Sandrock. I hope the limited number of romanceables have equal mission time and all that good stuff. I'm not too worried about it, it isn't going to dampen my excitement for the game, it is for me just kind of a minor bummer type deal! 😊

      I agree with you on all your hopes!
      About the hours: Witcher 3 takes around 50 hours, if you concentrate just on the mainquest. And Sandrock for example, had a lot of waiting time (like the desert planting questline - loooots of waiting for stuff to grow... or not grow) - while this made complete sense storywise, it also pushed the gamehours. And Sandrock had some of these "waiting for" quests, if I remember correctly. I could imagine that with Evershine, there will be less of these quests and that could already bring down the mainquest-time quite a bit in comparison to Sandrock^^
      I do hope it's packed with fleshed out sidecontent and maybe even more high-quality (post)endgame content - thats where I also completly agree with you, I really hope for more and better sidecontent involving different characters! :)

    Die sind also der Meinung das nächste My Time game auf 40 Stunden reduzieren zu müssen weil nur 20 % aller Spieler das Spiel beendet haben ?
    Das liegt natürlich an der Spiellänge von sandrock und nicht dadran daß man nach 5 Minuten bereits ohne ausdauer da steht und nichts mehr machen kann. Ist ja auch so spannend zu jedem npc zu löaufen um da das kartenspiel und das sparring zu machen. Es ist wie bei allen anderen auch. alles wird so weit wie möglich reduziert aber der Preis bleibt gleich oder wird einfach erhöht.

    • @Lexi_Plays_Games
      @Lexi_Plays_Games  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the hour cut is due to the 20-25% finishing the story and the length of the story. I wish the dev team asked follow-up questions like why did that person quit playing? I think the dev team would see that a lot of people may have been frustrated by things like the stamina or simply not being a completionist type player or they don't care about NPC friendships. I think the hour cut is also due to it being a different type of game. It's a city building game. It will still feel familiar like Sandrock but you are the governor not a builder. As governor, you will be handing over work to NPCs that would normally be the builder's responsibilities. I think that slight game change equals less story. I'm thinking it will be closer in gameplay to the Sandrock multiplayer than the single player main story.
      I don't like the hour cut. 40+ hours is not long at all! I will give them the benefit that it will take 50-60 hours to finish the main story with resource gathering, machine upgrading, etc., but that is still a short story! I think the dev team feels that players want side/character stories more. I'm hoping that the main story hour cut means they make up the difference with more fully developed character. With less story, the more obvious it becomes when a character is under-developed and has no story. Sandrock has a lot of those types of characters (Hugo, Mabel, Yan, Zeke, Rocky, Wei, Andy and Krystal are a few examples I can think of with very little character content but slightly involved in the main story). I'm hoping with less story, less characters, and less romanceable characters, they will improve on the depth characters and give each romanceable character the same treatment the devs normally only save for the chosen few like Fang and Logan. I hoping the dev team gives a better breakdown of hours in the future comparing the hours of Sandrock and Portia to Evershine (in regards to main story - side story - romance story hours). As for the price, even if they don't make up the difference in hours, the price will probably stay the same I think.

      @@Lexi_Plays_Games I said that the reason people stopped playing after 20-25 % is not because it is to long. One of the reasons is not having endurance after 10 minutes. People dont want to go to every npc just because of Card game and sparring every day. Thats all you can do without endurance. So without fishing hundreds of sandacudas it makes no sence.

    • @Lexi_Plays_Games
      @Lexi_Plays_Games  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I understood what you said fully. You started with a questions asking me if I thought they reduced the game time to 40 hours because only 20% finished the game. I answered yes, that is part of the reason, but I also thought it was due to it being a different type of game. Something I will add to my post because I was too tired to word it correctly is that I wish the devs would have done follow-up questions asking why people didn't finish the game or how much of the game they finished. I think it would have shown that if you break the game down into how much people complete, the vast majority have completed at least 60-75% of the game. The majority of people who I speak to and see on forums have all finished the majority of the game. Some people haven't finished simply because they just bought the game or life happens sometimes and you don't have as much time to play.
      Since the only part of your message that you translated was about the stamina and friendships, I guessing that was the only part you wanted addressed. It appears that way to me, but maybe it is simply lost in translation so I apologize if that is the case. 😂You probably aren't going to like my answers which was why I passed over that part of your comment. There is no problem with the stamina or friendship system in this game. The stamina is only an issue in the first week. Stamina is like this in almost every farming/life sims because of game balance. The devs want you to have limited stamina because the game is also about time/resource management and forming friendships with NPCs. I have never gone fishing for "hundreds" of fish for stamina. I have only gone fishing in Sandrock for missions, commissions, and catching 1 of every type of king fish. Never have I made any dried food for stamina for myself. Feel free to watch my playthrough, either one will show this to be true. The only extra stamina I ever use is the free jerky and dried sandberries you get from NPCs in the early game. I have never made either of those items for myself! I also very rarely go to the Blue Moon to eat food for extra stamina, I think once in each playthrough. Stamina in this game is knowing the mechanics and using the point system to your benefit. The first skill points everyone should take are the 2 that increase your stamina. The second mechanic to increase your stamina is to buy more land for your workshop, every purchase raises your stamina. The final mechanic is to max out furniture stats on your house and stamina stats on your clothing. All mechanics within the game. The limiting stamina also forces you to then interact with the NPCs to give you something to do when you are out of stamina.
      A large part of all life sims games is friendships and getting to know the NPC's stories. It would be hard to find one that isn't. I have also never sparred with NPCs (other than Pen for the achievement or Arvio and Yan because they're annoying🤣) nor played the card game with NPCs. Again you are more than welcome to verify that in either of my playthroughs, I played the card game once to show it off and never again. I have becomes BFFs with almost every NPC in Sandrock using the commission system, talking to them, gifting them something on their birthday or holiday, and for the rare few NPCs the playdate function, mainly for the extra gifting. There are also game mechanics to increase friendship too such as skill points and knowing the NPCs friends/family network.
      Neither the stamina nor the friendship system is an issue. Both systems exist in all games of this genre. Again, that is why I wished that the devs asked follow-up questions about why people didn't finish the story. Maybe the complaint people had is because this just wasn't the game for them, which is fine! 😊

      @@Lexi_Plays_Games I think most people buy games and only play them 20%. I for example have about 40 Games in steam library and played only 3 games 100% the rest maybe just started and never played again.
      The devs dont care about such things they told the reason is people dont play it 100 % because the story was to big and thats why they made it 40 hours. But if you ask me thats not thrue. They just had to tell any Reason for explain why they did that. They could have told anything and people believe it.
      The devs only are interested in max money by doing min. work. Thats how every company works. They know the real reason why people didnt Complete the game is that most people just didnt like the gameplay loop. Some people of course did but most didnt.
      I am still playing and im ok with the mechanics but i understand why others arent.
      I guess you of course know that not everyone is a progamer and a letsplayer like maybe you.
      Many people are new to the genre and so on.
      For example in disney dreamlight valley you just need to go into the house for getting your stamina max again.
      Its the only cozy game i know wich solved it this way and i dont know why others dont.
      But it was just an example why maybe people didnt complete it.
      Im ok with everything you wrote but i think its written from a progamers point of view.
      Dont understand me wrong i dont think DDV is a better game but this thing they solved better in my opinion. That doesnt mean that everyone else has to agree.
      I will look at what you said about the furniture thing and the other things.

      I think the devs do care. The Pathea team I have worked with a lot being a beta tester and they do genuinely care about the player experience and the game functioning as it should. The My Time devs have taken in and acted upon more player feedback than any game I've seen in a while. Of course, they want to make money, every game studio does, but Pathea does genuinely care. They have been one of the more authentic groups of devs I've dealt with so far.
      This morning, one of the devs Yang did answer on discord a bit why the game is shorter (this is information that is about an hour old). He said the shorter story is due to the main story of Sandrock being "bloated" and they "tried to solve issues by adding more" story. So that seems to be the reason. The dev team is focusing on making Evershine have better core game mechanics and making it a "tighter" game overall. His post says that the game will be closer to the length of Portia so around 65-70 hours. Much better than 40!!!
      Just to be clear, I am not a programmer. I have no clue about anything of that sort! 😂 My brain works in a very rational and pragmatic way, maybe that's a programmer/developer brain...I don't know! I try to look at all aspects of a situation, problem, whatever is it and try to hold back judgement until I know more. I can draw my own conclusions, but I know they could be fully wrong and that's fine! I'm also a min-maxer type person so efficiency is kinda my thing! 😊

    I mean.... they could have made us look like adults while still keeping the old art style. I feel like the new art style is not special in the slightest but very generic. I actually made my character look like an adult in Sandrock (choosing least popular options in the slides), aside from the high, which was actually a bummer

      I would not judge the governor's art because it IS generic. It is the Max/Lucy character so it's meant to be as generic as possible so that the player will not attach that face with the governor. I would try to withhold judgement until you start to see the governor after the character customization. My character never looks anything close to the Lucy basic version. If you still don't like it, you can always give the dev team feedback. It will have little to no effect on this game, but if enough people say the same thing maybe the next. I think the majority of people at this point like the change. I think as soon as they saw NPCs like Avery and now Logan's new art, there is no going back because they look good! 🥰
