Gorgeous! I prefer this over the sarb017 alpinist, actually. A subtle texture dial in matte green instead of sunburst with no compass makes it cleaner and more versatile imo. A perfect GADA watch!
Love this review....love this watch..... grabbed one a few weeks back....zero regrets....got 2 Seikos in my collection....this and a Green Willard.....done and done
Now that one I love...And it’s been a while since I’ve said that about Seiko(No longer a fan boy)....I have the 017 alpinist And wasn’t impressed with the new release(particularly the inflated price)…But this one?! Gorgeous! Thanks for the great review!
Right on! no problem! The new 1959 releases in Aug I think I'm going to finally ad an alp to the collection again. I have to confirm in hand once I review it of course. Can't wait!!!
I'm glad Seiko gave at least one of these a braclet, even if it's not as good as say a Strapcode. The gray one on a bracelet looks SO good. Kind of an Explorer alternative like that. I do wish I could see that 38mm next to a regular 39.5 Alpinist to compare them, or did you do that comparison in one of your other videos? 38mm is a great size for quite a few average to smaller wrists, but on the edge of small for me. I hope these are selling well, and I love the graduated dial. My SPB089 on Strapcode is right on the edge for me, a very sweet spot in compact sizing. One of my local watch shops shows they carry these, but I don't know about stock levels. I need to go by soon to see one of these in person. I really do like the gray.
Sorry to hear that. I had the 39.5mm SPB089 on it, and love it. The clasp isn’t bulky to me, but I can see that being the case on the 38mm and a smaller wrist than mine (7.25”/18.4cm). The clasp maybe takes up half of the bottom of my wrist.
I bought this one about a month ago and I am super happy with it. Mine runs about -7sec. a day. One small error you made: the bracelet is just pins and no collars, which for me is a plus. Good review. The new (retro) model coming in August looks great although I prefer mine with numbers on the dial.
I just have not grown to like the textured dials yet and may never. Wish the dial was sunray finish. Love the curves of the case. Would like through lug holes.
i just love the look of this watch as an alternative to the Hamilton Khaki Field Auto 38mm (IMO it looks better than the Hamilton KF). But the 6R35 movement seems like such a crap shoot. I suppose Seiko would be willing to regulate it within the warranty period if it's way off?
I cant find the blue and black dial versions. As far as I can see those dont come with steel bracelet. So green is the only color that comes with steel bracelet?
but it is a great one. just not regulated. most of the 6r's do well on the channel. for example check 2 vids back MM200 PADI. 0seconds a day in 2 positions. So seiko just needs to regulate these
I think the ETA Powermatic 80 is a better movement than the 6R series (free sprung balance & some versions have silicon hair spring & are chronometer certified). Also the ETA 2824 it is based on is fundamentally a better movement than the Seiko 7s26, on which the 4R/6R are based. The Miyota 9000 series has a higher beat rate than the 6R & is thinner, but it has a lower power reserve & unidirectional winding, I would say these two are about equal.
Great vid. Just picked up this spb155 brand new from japan with free shipping for only 515.00 us smakers, then a used but new condition Seiko tic tac 35th anniversary edition for 421.00 free shipping, and a used Seiko Sarg009 high price used but very good shape for $620.00 free shipping
I've had mine for just 5 days, but it is running at a crazy accuracy of just plus 0.2 seconds per day against a synchronised internet time source. Is this a lucky freak? My other automatics run at plus 6 to 8 seconds per day. I saw a video warning of swings in consistency with this movement, but they are easy to regulate apparently. I don't think I'll be regulating this one.
I feel like Seiko could have lumed the numbers on the dial since they are painted and not gilded like the Sarb017. The StrapCode bracelet is a very nice addition! How much would it cost to regulate / reseal with 20 bar testing? Great vid! :)
Applied gilt metal or lume filled indexes and four holes regulating clasp would make this model really premium. Even 1000 usd would became reasonable for them
So yeah. Someone mentioned that slow wrist roll thing on Adrian’s group. Of course I said everyone thinks it, but no one says it. Good on you. : cancel it. ( along with the Houston Astros). Nice looking Alpinist!
Unfortunately, I'm too biased to answer this one but I'll try. tissot is more dressy for sure and a better regulated movement. I do not have access to Tissot as my AD cancelled contracts with them as they did not like the QC and told me they always had qc issues with Tissot and it was a headache to carry the brand. The Seiko has a more toolish vibe and more capable WR and screw down crown. In the end I feel both are different enough to have both in the collect. I like the 38-39mm size for this style of watch more then 40mm as they do tend to wear larger. try both on if you can before you decide. how it wears on your wrist should be the biggest factor
Such a great watch for sure. The only downfall is its price if you consider further alternatives such as the Dress KX, Cocktail Time Presage and even a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto, this one is too overpriced.
Dress kx has no cool sapphire with nice distortions. Dresskx is hardlex. Cocktail time I believe is hardlex too. The Hamilton is a good alternative but I think this one looks better.
The watch should be sold with a better bracelet. The clasp is similar to what of the sarb033/035 while this piece is more expensive. Your channel seems to have an extensive range of review, by the way. Surprise to see the low subs count.
@@ThePlaiibox it is the free sprung balance system it can be regulated by turning two screws on balance wheel @SolimBD showed how to regulate powermatic 80

Excellent!
Spectacular dial on this beauty! I feel like this could easily pass for a dress watch!
A bit pricy, but such an amazing watch!
Love a radiant dial. I think oris does it best but that one looks great
funny! i think the next video is an oris with a gradient dial lol
Classical designs and Japanese coloring are very beautiful. I bought the same watch, so I'll be able to reach it soon. I'm looking forward to it😁
A simple classic in the making.

Do you think the MM300 with the on the fly extension would fit on this bracelet?
if its 18mm it should. Might look a bit too bulky for this 38mm tho
@@EscapementWatch thank you.
Wait what’s the new alpinist in august?
A 1959 recreation and affordable version
Great watch. Bit pricey but the price is going to go up on this one.
Seiko needs a better movement at that price, The swiss, and even Myota 9000 series is way ahead.

U get a free strapcode bracelet with the purchase of a Seiko? Any Seiko? King Samurai specifically
Yes king samurai comes with hexad oyster bracelet

Regulation is roughly $60 dollars
An yea lumed Arabics would have been great
The only negative for me is the thickness, 13 is thick for that size... If would have been 12....i consider buying it...
Check out our latest alpinist video where we address the thickness that same fix will work with this watch.
Looks nice and a beautiful watch !

Accuracy of 6r35 is really disappointing in comparison to powermatic 80 with free sprung blanace

But the powermatic 80 can't be regulated. Its set in the factory so if you get a duffer....not much you can do. Plus......plastic components!
