Just a QUICK 5 MIN video showing some differences I found while I had them for a couple days. I think I like the Compass Alpinist a bit more but both are great. Please add your own differences or similarities that I didn't mention as a reference for people. Thanks. -FALLING😁
Great video, thank you. I prefer the more simplistic look of the NC Alpinist with the black dial. It has a lot of Explorer vibe plus a date which is important for me.
Wow, thanks for the in depth measurements. I was under the impression that the new one was just the difference between having a crown guard and not, but the 38/39.5 isn't even that measurement. Very interesting! The Alpinist at 39.5 is barely at the bottom end of the sizing I like, so I probably wouldn't care for the new one on my wrist. It's still a great release for smaller wristed people though! I think I'd have preferred if the new gray one had a red tip to the seconds hand, but that's being nitpicky.
Great video. I am in love with these two watches but I think at the end I am going to choose the one with the green face. such and elegant, imponent watch!
@@jhonezcronic I have the brown dial NC Alpinist SPB211J1 and I think I paid about $850 CDN for it and i have to say it’s worth every penny. The new Seikos are very well made and the 6R35 movement is excellent.
Great video and comparison. I’m debating adding a NC to my collection. I’ve got the Sarb017 as well as the new black dial and cream dial with gold hands compass Alpinists and really like them. Thanks for the great video! 👍
I have a SNK807 which at 37mm is too small for me. I'm tempted to pull the trigger on the new Alpinist but I'm a bit worried that it will also be too small at 38mm. What do you reckon?
@@EscapementWatch My wrist is 19cm/7.4 inches. It's so hard to judge without trying something on in person. I suppose I could take a chance and in worst case send it back. Have you come across the TicTac special edition in green? It looks nice and is 40mm. Thanks for your help.👍
compass is the thing that gives depth to "real" alpinist. it doesn't need to be really used. we usually don't use the divers' bezel, as well. "vibes" is the key word here. besides, the second crown is visually important, while we like choronographs for part of their cool 3 crowns. nevertheless, baby alpinists are beautiful, for sure, but as a field watch. real alpinist is a watch on its own. therefore it is able to compete with big bros, like oyster or aqua terra.

Love how you portrayed the dimensions of the watch. Seldom seen and done with such detail!
Thanks! I started doing it recently! Check out my MM200 vs MM300 video same style of comparison is done there!

Every watch description on TH-cam should follow your format.
That compass alpinist is just stunning. I need that in my life.
I recently got myself the spb155j and it’s amazing.
😃This calm, informative, detailed and well-shot video was a pleasure to watch and very helpful in my watch buying decision. 🙏
very informative! one big difference is also the mismatched lume in the no-compass version
Another great video my brother! I'm picking the non compass non cyclops one...
If only they hade applied the markers and numerals and made it with no date no display back. Perfection
Good call!
@@EscapementWatch well you really can't go wrong with those... Both amazing watches...
I agree!

I wish they made the no compass one in green. I’m currently trying to find a used compass alpinist, because I’m cheap, but have good taste.
Comparison videos are among the most useful ones ! Thanks for highlighting those, there were some subtle ones that I had missed. =)

love the clean look of the NC ones, might grab one soon.

Glad you like them!
No compass alpinist for me... thanks seiko for this no compass alpinist 👀👌 love it
Good choice!
Brilliant video, especially showing dimensions. The best iv seen.
Wow, thanks!
Just want to say bro; Your videos are very informative 👍 Slowly becoming my favourite watch channel
I appreciate that!
Nice comparison! I am actually looking at getting one or both of these. Very helpful video.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video !! Thank you very much for the measurement of the crystal diameter !!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm going to get the gray one . It will go nice with my sarb035.
This was an awesome Informative video. 38mm would be my jam but I feel they're a bit pricey like most new Seikos. Thanks dude!
Glad it was helpful!
What do you think may be a fair price?

I'm so jealous. How would you rate them? I'm conflicted between cream/green/black
Great comparison and the No Compass Alpinist 👌 happy to see the nickname change. It’s official. No compass alpinist
Exactly!
And of course both these are for sale at KAVAR Jewelers. Email me for a Discount on them! 👍
Do you still sell them?
Yeah the one with printed numerals is easier to read but it looks way too plain
nice review! which one would fit better a very small wrist? thanks!
the No compass variant
@@EscapementWatch thanks, only 5.9 inches wrist here, hope the no compass is small enough thanks!
Good video. I have both and like both. What l really like is the 60's alpinist. Can't find one in good condition, though. Hope they reissue those.
I hope so too!
They've literally just reissued them?
@@deanwaller8283 yes, to be released in Aug. Spb241/3/5 and the awesome 36.6mm higher end sben001. These are the alpinist I really like.
@@canonyeo4286 I'm seriously considering one myself,I almost went for the baby version, but the re-issues are to die for!
@@deanwaller8283 yes, wait for the 59' reissues. The best alpinist so far, especially, the sben001.
Another great review but I like my sarb017 the most for some reason there is something special

That snk wears small. these alpinists have a bit more wrist presence and present well. what is your wrist size. 6.5inch is mine check the wrist shot.

never seen the tictac special green one yet! GL
Why are the buckle sides of the straps at 6 o’clock?
thats how its supposed to be with deployant straps. I believe its so it has the same action as a bracelet would or direction.

The compass will be useless for most,HOWEVER,you can use it for elapsed time, which for me,is a complication I require on all my watches
It best playing this video at 1.25x speed
That cyclops ruins it for me. I just can't stand cyclops lenses.
Sooo, why?...
some ppl like to see details on some differences. Not every video has to be to everyones tastes!
Why did you watch then?
