@@desjon6012 hi… may i pls ask that how is the watch now and what are the gud and bad points (if any) as i am planning to buy the same… thanking you in advance🙏🙏
I'll hold my shopping cart. It seems like these companies are finally listening. To me 40mm is the limit in terms of comfort and general wearability but 38mm is better.
I got the SBDC137 chocolate with Japanese paper style dial. Changed out the strap to a Seiko dress one and it has been my favourite work watch. Super comfortable with its tapered case. The text on the dial is a lighter shade of chocolate so it is subtle. Absolutely will become a classic.
Many Thanks for the comprehensive review for one of the best Sports and Dress watches ever made by Seiko. I wish that these models come with signed crown. Adding the 6R35 movement and 70 Hours power reserve is what makes these watches best overall, with 200 Meters WR and Sapphire Crystal.
Many Thanks for the comprehensive review and very clear language and voice. Finally Seiko has come up with a dressy and water sports watch, size 38 mm with a high end time system and 70 hours power reserve. However, a non-signed crown is considered a drawback. For me the green dial with the stainless steel bracelet is the most attractive and I wish Seiko could make the blue dial with bracelet as well. Perhaps, you need to talk a little bit about the bracelet specifications and whether this watch could be used for snorkelling and water sports, since it is not a certified dive watch.
Thanks for watching and for the feedback! Agreed that the green dial on bracelet looks the best... that's why its my pick :) Yes, I should have spoke about the bracelet more - thank you. For snorkeling this watch should handle the water fine as long as the crown is screwed down, but I would use caution when submerging the water for any dive related activity because as you mentioned it is not certified for diving like some of Seiko's other dive / ISO certified watches.
I own both the green and the blue "Baby Alpinist" watches, and love both. I have a 8 in. wrist and the blue's watchband did not fit - too tight. Changed it for a wonderful alligator red-brown and the combination is gorgeous. The green version I have kept on the very nice bracelet.
Bro, I like the way you have surgically synchronized the three watches to tick in unison. Your appearance and humility is equally impressive and makes for an easy listen. Thanks for this video I am now leaning towards the white dial compass alpinist. Cheers and have a merry Christmas

Love your review. I’m pleased to see Seiko is making 38mm watches include this new line of Alpinist. The fume dial is simply beautiful, but it’s more like a Tag Heuer Isograph than an Alpinist.
It’s definitely a new look they’re going for in the Alpinist. I’m most excited that they included the 38mm size! It could have easily just been another 40mm piece
Very good review of lovely watches, but it’s inaccurate to call these models “Baby” because the original Alpinist also has no rotating compass. In fact, other earlier generations of the Alpinist had no rotating compass. These should be called Basic Alpinists, or No-Compass (NC) Alpinists.
The blue and grey models would have been a lot nicer if the indices match the hands and the second markers or the other way around, i.e., the hands match the indices. They did that for the green, why not for the blue and grey?
I bought the ivory one and the blue one. I like them both, but the blue one is easier to read time at a glance, for sure. I also like the blue lume better than the green. But, I do prefer applied indices vs. printed and I like the date magnifier.
I'm okay they get rid of the compass but I think they should have at least kept the crown guard in to keep it in line with the Alpinist signature design

I thought the grey would have been my favorite, but after seeing the green dial in the metal the combination of green & gold color combination just won me over. Although, I think the grey is still best suited for everyday as the color is easier to match with!

Well you can say the same for a dive watch. Seiko divers are often listed in the write up as being for divers, most of the people wearing them do not dive. The Alpinist is more imo a GADA watch. Crown guards take away from that to an extent, they can also get in the way of a screw down crown. There is no need to look at the reason for the name as like I said dive watches are for divers but many don’t dive, field watches are what? Only meant for people in the field? Kind of makes no sense.
