My black Powkiddy X55 256gb arrives today! Can't wait 🎉I'm 43 and fed up and dissapointed at this last gen of gaming to the point I sold ALL my consoles and handhelds. Triggered when stumbling across an old GamesWorld and GamesMaster vid on TH-cam - sent me back to the time when gaming was fun, friendships were made shoulder to shoulder in front of a tv, innocence, happier times. It all began with my first handheld back in 1989, the og Game Boy! Fall circle now with this X55 all in one compact device to relive the 90's and when life was less stressful, emotional and happy 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The Max 3, Max 3 Pro and RGB30 are a mystery at this point and I hope they have large displays. Though, this X55 looks to be a nice large display Linux handheld and I'm currently looking for one. I'm going to wait a little while to see what those other PowKiddy's are but I have this X55 on my may-get-it Wishlist.
Yes Powkiddy keep as guessing. My full review is in the works but the short of it is that it’s an exceptional device with a few critical flaws (loud buttons, cheap shell)
Agreed. The frustration with Powkiddy is that they keep creating new concepts with each model, which takes away their opportunity to refine their products. I did notice that the new X28 has the same ergonomics on the back, so hopefully that sort of thing is starting to happen.
I can't understand how those bumps on the back are comfortable. Most people like those, but the lesser bumps on the rgb10 max 2 drove me nuts, so I taped and velcroed cardboard on the back center to smooth it out. I only ever heard one person complain about them, but people complained about the 20s but I think it's comfortable. It doesn't even matter to me which position the joy stick is in like so many have been irritated by. Does anyone else agree?
I does sound like you are a very unique use case! 😊 I have just been testing the RGB20S and I think the ergonomics are quite bad. It must be the way a person holds the device, maybe you have a very unique grip.
Did you get the SD card loaded with games, or without, and also, I would've thought your model wouldve come with JELOS, anyway, thanks so much for the review and the follow up video, so glad you like the X55, I can't wait to get mine.
I have the first RGB10 Max and is this new device more powerful? The RGB10 Max had a very dim screen too and it was impossible to play Asteroids on it as you couldn't see the bullets. Is this screen as bad as that? I have to say, i'm tempted by this device at this price
How fully loaded was it? Thinking of getting the same one.. are the libraries full or only partial list of games... How many PS1 games and N64 games on that model 256? I got the 35xx and ambernic rg 505 and the Gameboy list wasn't complete and even SNES had a few I wanted to play that were missing.. TIA
Another option for a large display budget handheld is the PowKiddy X17 with RESET Collection installed as an app and Frontend. The X17 has a 7 inch display, stacked triggers, stereo speakers and is Android based. I have one and it's awesome!

So after CFW you have a great feeling and performing handheld with clicky buttons.

Mine was a preproduction unit. I did get a preloaded Sd card, yes.

Hey man, there are alot of options now including Powkiddy's own RGB Max 3 but yes this may still be the large screen budget king/queen
They should have made the screen a even 6 inches,and called it good,,,black x55 is the updated version.

This is an RK3566 chipset which makes it a fair amount more powerful. The screen I am testing is definitely better.

Unfortunately I haven’t but I would trust Anbernic’s build quality over Powkiddy.
