I have all three of these speakers too and I keep listening to the Stockwell II because it’s not as tight as the other too (got mine cheap ex-display) - it reminds me of when I had hi-fi separates and wooden-cabinet speakers. I also don’t listen that loudly, I find it fatigues my ears (guess I’m old!) - I was also pleased to find that the Stockwell II uses a faux leather on its strap. My understanding of Blumlein is it’s more about the physical speaker arrangement more than any sort of digital processing. I'm actually really glad the Stockwell 2 volume button does *not* control the phone's volume! I can leave the phone volume where I want it, the 2's volume button goes high enough for me (I mainly use it for podcasts and audio books, listening in small to medium sized rooms - although the sound is so delicious, I have started to listen more to music again, too). If I then switch to listening via headphones, because I'm leaving the house, the volume is still at a comfortable level. With other BT speakers, I was often unpleasantly surprised by a loud blast from my headphones - while getting ready, moving from room to room, I tend to crank up the speaker's volume. The Stockwell 2 is splendid for the type of listening I do! I love to go to bed at night with a nice, mellow podcast or audiobook, setting the sleep timer and then leaving my phone in the living room. Nope but i saw oluv found it a bit worse. Well he said a bit clearer on first listen and then worse on listening to his recordings again. So no game changer whatever they tweaked 😭
Could you test out the harman kardon omni 50+? It sounds really huge with impressive bass, and seems to have the same kind of stereo widening of the denon envaya 250bt😋 saw it on multiple uk websites for great prices. Blows the xtreme 3 away big time
I'm looking at boom 3, what do you recommend best speaker around that price, I'm not bass heavy listener, and prefer somewhat portable speaker. Great video!
theres a big choice at that price once you dont need a big bass. hard to say one is better than another, charge 5, motion plus do a decent job. personally the xb33 doesnt quite do it for me.
@@alanrossreviews here in Australia, charge 5 is AUD275, Motion Plus AUD180 and boom 3 AUD150, Flip 5 AUD129 and UEWB 2 AUD100-120. My budget is 150, so can't go for charge 5, however can stretch budget if motion plus provides way more value, otherwise I may settle for WB2 or Flip 5 if they SOUND similar to Boom 3.
Nice sounding speakers I have the 3 one and at home marshall, miles party on the way M+ , bommy BMPA 🥳 motion boom. Greetings my friend nice comparison, sorry for the marshall no TWS and not so loud but fully and nice.
if I had so much money for a speaker I would buy a Marshall , it has a nice open sound without losing the bass, but it is more expensive than anker plus and boom together. I omit the appearance of the Marshall , which for me as a guitarist is sensational (and these knobs
Watching and listening with my envaya 250. By the way, I've heard before that the stockwell 2 doesn't sound good on some other types of music. And it just lacks volume. 🤔
Hey Al, please review the Harman Kardon Citation 200, it’s like a clearer and cleaner sounding hk onyx studio 6 which I also own as well as keeping the deep bass and improving the battery life, it’s only $50 AU more expensive than the stockwell 2 (in Australia) which I was considering under your first review
Thanks for another interesting review. Motion Boom seems to be the clear winner. don't like the design of the Marshall and Plus doesn't have enough bass. still waiting for my motion boom 😆 order is still 'processing', they got 3 more days to ship it or else I'll get automatic refund.
Both are great ! Marshall in a bassy way and Motion+ in a sparkly way. And I forgot about the Boom, it's so in another league I forgot to talk about it 😂
Marshall sounds clearer and soundstage is wider for sure so it’s possible I can hear more instruments on Marshall but it’s not as loud as motion + or boom. That’s why I really wish you do a comparison video among motion plus, charge 5 and Marshall emberton which is a more compact design but apparently louder than stockwell with a little bit of less clarity.
But other than stronger bass charge 5 doesn’t sound any different than flip 5 to me. So you say you’d get charge 5 instead of emberton? Stockwell and emberton have their own advantages and disadvantages for example. Stockwell is not as loud as emberton but it’s clearer. I’m so in between charge 5 and emberton at this point. Charge 5 has one driver emberton has 2. It’s also 360 sound. Charge is directional so the sound travels only one direction. As you said charge 5 misses some elements some songs originally have being a mono speaker but it’s more powerful at 30 Watts. Emberton is 20 watts.
charge 5 is more travel and drop friendly, goes louder. stockwell is a more involving listen if you listen that way, analytical. emberton sounds totally different at high volumes since the bass already limits from 60%. it goes from boomy to bass light. sound travels in all directions, its a wave. highs are more directional to the human ear and have a very short wavelength so we say directional but it still can be heard from the back of the charge 5, just muted. Stockwell sounds crap from side but emberton sounds balanced from the side. neither stockwell or emeberton are true 360 speakers. it sounds different from all angles.
Mine was DOA or just trash idk, it was quieter than the £35 speaker it was replacing and distorted like crazy. Got a soundcore motion plus for less than a third of the price and never looked back.
Question: What if one of friend will connect to the motion boom and he doesn't have the soundcore app, will it still play my custom EQ settings? given that I had saved my eq in the boom.
I mostly listen to instrumental music, solo guitar, orchestral pieces, background scores, piano music etc. Do you think marshall will be a better choice for me ? As it has more clarity of sound.
@@alanrossreviews Oops! I have already ordered it. I was sold on the looks and some positive reviews. By the way, which speaker do you think fits best for me considering the type of music I mentioned? I prefer clarity and natural sound over heavy processed bass.
@@alanrossreviews just received my stockwell 2. I find it excellent for general purpose, very natural sound, bass is very natural and deep at the same time, not muddy. Mid range and vocals are excellent/punchy. Highs are smooth and not super bright though. The loudness is also okay for me as it is for my personal use in the room and not parties or anything. I just love it. The only thing I find could be slightly better is treble sparkling and brightness. Else, all is good.

Ive never listened to my motion boom on max and let me tell it was an experience i thought it would lose some bass but no it sounds great all the way through
well the bass reduces relative to the rest but its still decent enough.
@@alanrossreviews I know this comment doesn't matter but your response to this guy's comment just gained even more of my respect to you and your honesty in these videos!! For me at 80 percent or more volume the boom would drop-off big time soundwise but to that point it was fantastic but when it dropped off it just killed it for me!!! But I will always be waiting for the next release from soundcore till then I will continue to enjoy my w king!! Take care Alan!!!
Would like to see the Marshall vs Boost and Max Sound + … what’s loudest?
blimey you are really working me tonight 🤣🤣🤣 i will have to get back to you on this question 😝😝😝😝
@@alanrossreviews Yup one demanding woman… hence the nickname 😜 But by the sounds I think it would be a fairer comparison with the Boost as both 20 watts?
@@snowqueen7968 but the size of the drivers means more output for same input! 😱
@@alanrossreviews How big are the drivers?
well Lewis Hamilton is 5 foot 7! 🤣
Stanmore 2 vs anker soundcore motion plus. Which speaker better
its £360 vs £70 😭
sounds like they've added reverb to the marshall speakers
It does sound that way
By the way, Tribit Stormbox Pro has a new firmware. Have you checked it? How does it compare with the old one? Basswise for instance?
Nope but i saw oluv found it a bit worse. Well he said a bit clearer on first listen and then worse on listening to his recordings again. So no game changer whatever they tweaked 😭
@@alanrossreviews ok , still not worth buying then
Nope 😳
Hi alan, please do the marshall emberton vs jbl charge 5 and motion plus 😁👍🏻
Noted 👍
How about Marshall killburn 2?
Yes i would like to try that one soon
Motion plus user.. listening through it..
Hey alan , i think motion plus is arounder here! Isn't it ?
yup! can do most things just not deep bass.
@@alanrossreviews yup.. there is no firmware 37.xx update on my sound core app
Could you test out the harman kardon omni 50+? It sounds really huge with impressive bass, and seems to have the same kind of stereo widening of the denon envaya 250bt😋 saw it on multiple uk websites for great prices. Blows the xtreme 3 away big time
noted! but its a long noted list 😁 could be an interesting one...
@@alanrossreviews how many speakers are on the list? Im sure this will blow away many many speakers on there👍🏼
a lot 🤪 i get requests everyday but how many speakers do i have time for and still have a life???????? 🤓
@@alanrossreviews not quite sure! Maybe time to sort the best ones and most interesting ones to you out!
My budget is 150, so can't go for charge 5, however can stretch budget if motion plus provides way more value, otherwise I may settle for WB2 or Flip 5 if they SOUND similar to Boom 3.
motion plus offers good value if you tune it right with custom.
Nice sounding speakers I have the 3 one and at home marshall, miles party on the way M+ , bommy BMPA 🥳 motion boom. Greetings my friend nice comparison, sorry for the marshall no TWS and not so loud but fully and nice.
yup! so close but so far for the stockwell! thats the problem with these lifestyle speakers!
if I had so much money for a speaker I would buy a Marshall , it has a nice open sound without losing the bass, but it is more expensive than anker plus and boom together. I omit the appearance of the Marshall , which for me as a guitarist is sensational (and these knobs
Yeah very much a niche buy 👍
Watching and listening with my envaya 250. By the way, I've heard before that the stockwell 2 doesn't sound good on some other types of music. And it just lacks volume. 🤔
yup for sure im not the first to review it 😆
Hey Al, please review the Harman Kardon Citation 200, it’s like a clearer and cleaner sounding hk onyx studio 6 which I also own as well as keeping the deep bass and improving the battery life, it’s only $50 AU more expensive than the stockwell 2 (in Australia) which I was considering under your first review
bit pricey 🤓
Thanks for another interesting review. Motion Boom seems to be the clear winner. don't like the design of the Marshall and Plus doesn't have enough bass. still waiting for my motion boom 😆 order is still 'processing', they got 3 more days to ship it or else I'll get automatic refund.
Shit, sounds like there is a real issue with your order. 😳
@@alanrossreviews yep, maybe they're out of stock. will find out soon.
fingers crossed... 🤞
@@alanrossreviews finally shipped 😊 will post my thoughts as soon as it arrives.
Please compare sony xb13 vs wonderboom
come on, the wonderboom smokes the xb13
Thank you wonderboom or boom 3 or JBL flip5 plz rply
Both are great ! Marshall in a bassy way and Motion+ in a sparkly way.
And I forgot about the Boom, it's so in another league I forgot to talk about it 😂
marshall has sparkle too 👍
@@alanrossreviews Yep, I'm sad it's not loud enough though...
Marshall sounds clearer and soundstage is wider for sure so it’s possible I can hear more instruments on Marshall but it’s not as loud as motion + or boom. That’s why I really wish you do a comparison video among motion plus, charge 5 and Marshall emberton which is a more compact design but apparently louder than stockwell with a little bit of less clarity.
the emberton is more on the flip level not the charge 5 level.
Got a soundcore motion plus for less than a third of the price and never looked back.
and the rest is history.....................
Question: What if one of friend will connect to the motion boom and he doesn't have the soundcore app, will it still play my custom EQ settings? given that I had saved my eq in the boom.
yup!
@@alanrossreviews Thank you so much for your reply! I would definitely get the motion boom.
@@alanrossreviews Can I charge it with a 40watts charger?
I mostly listen to instrumental music, solo guitar, orchestral pieces, background scores, piano music etc. Do you think marshall will be a better choice for me ? As it has more clarity of sound.
its a nice listen but whether it kicks quite low enough for you not sure. some instruments will sound off due to the reverb it uses.
Else, all is good.
hello...someone with the anker motion plus notices that white noise or static that is normal in speakers. Is it a little bigger when the speaker is inactive or when listening at very low volume? Is this normal in the anker motion plus?
im a loud fan like you.. i couldnt own the marshall tho (embarrassed for them considering their past lol), did just get & like the new Motion+
Nice! Motion + actually sounds better than Marshall at 70%.
Yeah when you bring out the bass a bit more and the fact that the stockwell cant go too loud 🔊
As to Marshall's speaker, I think I can get my self 3 motion booms.....
Yup, but the sound signature is different.
@@alanrossreviews I've tried some Marshalls - they're enjoyable to listen to some Rocks - but in the most of the time I'm more pop and dance person so I think Marshalls don't work for me. Still, I really love how they look like
Asked before what to get but prices are not there for the marshall.
Marshall 240€, anker 80€ either one of the 2 ...
Got the motion+, doing good and 40% volume is enough to annoy me even before the neighbors.
yeah thats crazy pricing
Hi just wandering forgetting best value for money, what’s the best sounding speaker you have heard so far.Alan?
i dont listen to many high end expensive speakers. my high end listen is the minirig 2.2
The boom wins again, with ease this time !
Boom boom, untouchable for deep bass 😝
@@alanrossreviews imagine bringing the Marshall over to a friend's place and telling them you paid $170 for it, and then they bring out a motion boom loll
Or 2 Motion Booms.....
Hi, my soundcore motion+ has such low call volume.... doesn't matter if I'm connected on Teams, Whatsapp, or Skype over android phone or laptop....just can't get the call vol to rise....please help if u can. Would really appreciate it.
Alan Ross Reviews Top Picks:
Pound for pound world champion:
Soundcore Motion Boom: geni.us/motionboom
Amazingly deep bass to 40hz for its size and price.
Still worth a look:
My former world champ the Soundcore Motion Plus can still offer great clarity.
geni.us/soundcoremotionplus
£50 champion:
Soundcore Boost: geni.us/soundcoreboost
Hi End Pick:
Minirig mk3 2.2 system: geni.us/minirigmk3
Great for portable low deep kick:
Onyx Studio 6: geni.us/onyxstudio6
Best Micro Options:
Bose Soundlink Micro (warm): geni.us/bosesoundlinkmicro
Tribit Stormbox Micxro (clinical): geni.us/tribitstormboxmicro
Worth a Look:
W-King T9: geni.us/wkingt9
The T9 is a reasonably loud and balanced party speaker with a big bright detailed sound.
Budget Loud Boombox: no clear winner but my pick for fun outside listen would be:
W-King X10 geni.us/wkingx10
Travel Speakers:
Marshall Stockwell 2: geni.us/stockwell2
offers a decent immersive sound with full and tight bass. Beware though it does not go very loud
JBL Charge 5: geni.us/jblcharge5
Only mono but has a very clear and dynamic sound at low volumes and can go reasonably loud but will become a little screechy over 80%.
I'd buy CH5 instead of Marshall Stockwell 2...
Controversial 😁😁
@@alanrossreviews 😁😉
SoundCore have sent me instructions that I must send them a video of my faulty Motion + speakers… but I must not use my Motion+ near WIFI ( no streaming music then), other devices, pillars, doorways, walls or have any clothing near them during the video 🤣🤣🤣 Is this normal?? Any suggestions on how to film this giving the above conditions?? 🤣🤣🤣
Try going outside in the garden/driveway perhaps? Good luck dude!
well not really normal, no! thats how you would use it in the real world. wifi is fine, you will be on bluetooth, just download a track direct to your phone first. just keep the rest out of shot, they wont know where you are.
@@alanrossreviews I had envisaged having to move to the wilderness in order to make use of my speakers 😵💫. It’s not a real world use, it’s crazy. It’s like they have sold me an ironing board that can’t have an iron anywhere near it! They also said no devices near the motion +… so does that include a mobile phone too? It’s a Bluetooth speaker, I generally do steam music, but have tried it on downloaded tracks on Apple Music and they do the same. It’s definitely their firmware… but suppose I have to prove it. 🙄
Oluv said the magic of the Stockwell listen to it sideways because its playing 360° and he's annoyed too about the loudness😅😂
i have to disagree. to me it sounds a mess sideways.
Alan Ross Reviews it doesn’t sound great sideways with a lot of music like edm. but imo it’s pretty awesome listened from the side while playing lo fi, jazz, or fusion tracks. just certain tracks. But yeah it does sound like a mess sometimes.
I have M+ and tribit micro and now i can say my micro is louder than the stockwell 2😆
but does it have blumlein processing??? 🤪
@@alanrossreviews nooo😭😭
Marshall over the other 2 anytime anyday.
Like a 3some?? 🤔
20W is less than "24W" from tribit maxsound plus and anker boost :P but marshall play better :P
but bigger drivers, watts is but one part of the sum. 😁
Sorry but i can't like your new eq on the motion + :c it is not a motion boom, you can't eq it like it was one, sounds muddy. It is about clarity in all frecuencies and capacity for open and flat sound, maybe with adding a little highs. Well, it is my opinion ✌ sorry for my english, i don't know if i explained good my point 😅
I don't want to offend or fight, sorry if it sounded that way, i just don't have enough vocabulary, i speak spanish ✌
i love spain 😝
I love the desígn of the motion plus and the stockwell 2, the motion boom sound quite nice but its soo ugly... My choise would be stockwell 2😋
stockwell 2 till you need to annoy the neighbours! then the boom wins the day 🤗🤗🤗
@@alanrossreviews yup! Strange that the marshall has such great drivers but at the same time weak drivers 🤔
@@Jul0570 well not much power at 20 watts and retaining bass and firing back and front rather than just forwards and who knows how much of a drain that extra stereo processing is soaking up.
Second! 😁
so close..but no cigar!
First 🤣
woohoo!!!! impressive!!!!!!!!! 😁😁
@@alanrossreviews Not sure the purpose of the Marshall though? What sort of scenario would you use it? It’s not a party speaker… what sort of genre do you listen to with it?
Moderate levels for close up intimate listen, a smoocher? 🤔
@@alanrossreviews See I only listen to music like that when there’s champagne + bubbles involved and that’s not got the IPX rating 😂 🍾🛁 🥂
