    Thanks Alan for the comparison. I think it's good that you go into the different purposes with the MB+. Many customers would not buy a whole collection of Bluetooth speakers just for outside. It's also partly a hobby. The MB+ can satisfy a very wide range of tastier music, although not all. It's amazing how much detail he's able to reproduce. Even if he exaggerates from time to time, I wouldn't want to give him up anymore. A loudspeaker with potential!

      if you are happy then job done 👍 i do wonder about sample variation though, some people saying no harshness at all and others like me finding our ears bleed after a long listen 🤭

      Im looking for a speaker with strong bass to plug to my portable dj mixer for some hard techno, do you think the mb+ can deliver?

    • @ropeburn6684
      @ropeburn6684 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mehdital89 It can. It goes deep enough for the usual "techno rumble" and is punchy enough for being really enjoyable. Tracks like Signate - Uruk Hai or Luke & Flex - Consciousness sound good on it. Definitely danceable! The aux input is also virtually latency-free which is important and not all mobile speakers do. So yes, it's suited for your task, perhaps better than other speakers in its price range.

    Thank you for the continued MB+ comparisons. I'll sit tight with my 2 motion booms for now. 🙂 The more you test the MB+ it makes me wonder even if they update the firmware to fix that peak (which would, of course, be a decided improvement) if it will ever sound really great if they decided to cheap out on the tweeters. Anyway, it's always a pleasure to watch your honest reviews in a sea of inaccurate and dishonest ones. Thank you again, Alan! 😁👍👏

Inside, however, it is far behind my 2Mb which take advantage of the walls of my barn to send big deep bass.. in stereo 😎. I'm just testing both speaker. In my opinion the JBL sounds more balanced, vocals are warmer and fuller. Complex music sounds cleaner in comparison to the Boom Plus. Even if you increase the highs on the JBL, it sounds more pleasant. As you already mentioned, the Boom Plus' highs are harsh. Try listen to UB40 or Queen, your ears are going to bleed with the Boom Plus. BUT the Boom Plus is louder and much cheaper. Boom Plus is recommended for parties. JBL is the allrounder.

      in my case the xtreme 3 keeps being balanced with the eq curve, specially with songs of my old country by Pastor López, some of his songs has a bass notes sequence that sounds out of proportions in other speakers as notes go higher, instead in the xtreme such notes keep approximately the same level making more pleasant to listen, that’s the reason I don’t like the boosted upper bass
      In other videos I listened the soundcore and it tended to harsh in trebles (supposedly corrected in recent firmware), abandoning the bass in 65% and saturating over 85%, and always having those mids

      I got mine (JBL) on sale on spring - paid under 160quid - and this really is what they should ask for this speaker.
      I like: the sound quality - Extra tip: if i put inside cupboard or in the corner - bass is amplified (this is true to all passive radiator speakers), quality of materials is great. It is light, compare to old Xtreme 2. Original charger has a long cable - and when connected turns on "power mode". Can be charged from power bank (but process may be slow or impossible when turn on). Pairing with compatible speakers is flawless (if in range)
      I don't like: Battery life - around 6 hours at 70-80% volume with flat eq, and no "power mode" when connected to other chargers than JBL's (maybe i use wrong one? but, still other one is 20V 3A as well...). And range for pairing with other speakers is relatively short, sometimes loosing connection within one room...
      Good speaker - if find one on sale ;)

    Thanks Alan for another indepth review featuring the MB+. The more of these reviews I see from you and the others, the more insight I get on this speaker.
    Do you think the missing deep bass of the MB+ is due to tuning or the type of hardware (that is the type of woofers used)? Would it be possible for Soundcore to implement deep bass through a software update? If I'm not mistaken I heard you say 65mm woofers which is different from those on the Motion Boom. Probably different brands.

    I had the MB+ with me on a camping Weekend. Normally i am a little bit sensitive to harshness, but I don't really now where those complains come from. Outdoors the tweeters are well needed for clarity and don't sound harsh at all and we used it indoors on full Lvl volume, where it looses very much bass. And from 70 people nobody heard harshness and everyone celebrated the punchy bass and loudness. The only explanation for me is that i used it as a party speaker with EDM and HIP HOP and not high quality Jazz etc. And the last question I have is: when the speaker sounds too harsh, why would you EQ al the highs so much louder? My EQ has a big deep Bass up bump and then a little mids vor Vocals and only a little bit of highs. When you push the highs to +6 it has to sound harsh, doesn't it?

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      no! the highs push you talk of is a push into the harmonics where the boom plus tails off, so its a flat eq. the harshness is mostly at 6khz, did you not hear me say that over and over? and so i have eq'd around it. flattening out the mids also helps balance the overall sound allowing for more eq at the high end.

    • @DerMelvinHerfet93

      @@alanrossreviews sorry i am sure I heard it, but i saw many reviews since the launch. Just forgot that. Makes sense, i'll try it the next days. Nevertheless, especially outside, it doesn't sound harsh for me. And no one around me complained. Have you tried it with "party music" and outside? We only had an Xtreme 3 there to compare, without EQ for the JBL the MB+ sounded clearer, way loudery waaaaay more bass and overall better. (But you said that in your review too so that's no critic). Thanks for the answer, your reviews are very good and detailed even if my ear slidely disagrees with this one :)

    I bought the motion boom plus and I'm thinking about returning it. The heat trapped in the speaker is making the bass passive radiator swell outwards and leaves no room for the radiators to flex and it's already showing damage on the corners. Very disappointed. Dear Alan I purchased my first JBL charge 5 seeing your review, but my mom took it. Then I purchased Xtreme 3 seeing your several reviews and charge 5 performance. But eventually I have become more addicted to deeper bass.
    Unfortunately motion boom or plus not available in my country.

    I have been many hours in your channel, but unable to figure out which might I should get.
