First ever IMSA race im attending in person, I'm so excited
Yo thats awesome man im also going this weekend as well all throughout the weekend I live in long beach so naturally as a hometown person I go every year so yea not anything new for me incase your wondering I don't pay for tickets I just simply go up into the parking garage off of turn 6 to get a good view of the race sometimes ill even go down to the hairpin awesome views

Also, in indycar, F2 champion Theo Pouchaire is gonna drive for mclaren ! Pretty cool
I really hope the Corvette can iron out it's issues especially for this sprint race environment so it can get more customers. Keep in mind aside from it's current issues alot of teams are reluctant to switch since (apparently) it's the second most expensive gt3 car only behind the Ferrari which is already a proven race winner.

I'm shocked Katherine is not in the car this weekend with her being inducted into the long beach walk of fame on Thursday before the race weekend.

Just for wondering purposes who else in this comment section is going to be there in person sicne i will be there for majority of the weekend (As i am a local of long beach) im looking forward to meeting up with some fellow fans down at the track if anyone is interested ill be at the top of the parking garage off of turn 6 for anyone who wants to meetup and talk IMSA or racing in general
I'm planning on going, The parking garage sounds good. What time would you have to arrive to get a spot in the garage?
@@Nicholasmcgadden156it doesnt really matter what time you arrive cause it doesn't get super packed but if you want to get a good parking spot at the very top of the garage you'd have to get there early
So basically in terms of viewing you're good but in terms of parking and viewing you'd have to be there early before the gates open so like 6am

1:58: I found some back story on Flying Lizard. They have been managing customer teams in various GT series the last few years. It seems that Elias Sabo funded the purchase of Aston Martins in 2022 and the team ran them in GT4 World Challenge America in 2022 and 2023. The team entered the GT America World Challenge America GT3 races at Sonoma a couple of weeks ago with Sabo as their bronze ( Am) driver. I don't know if this is a full season effort. I suspect with the team headquartered in Sonoma, the Long Beach race is a dip in the water test with IMSA and maybe they are looking at a partial ( Endurance Cup?) or full time run in IMSA in 2025.
Where there's a will there is a way and if they have a driver that wants to do it and can fund it then there's a solid chance we could see them more in the next little bit!
What are you going to be watching for at Long Beach?
The singular corvette. Corvette racing in the past has had surprisingly good luck when they’re stuck with one car. (Le mans 2015, 2023 wec), but this is only the customer team. Hope that all the time gm spent announcing the z06 gt3.r will finally be worth something

@@furiousgeorge7727 It takes time get these new programs up and running, BMW wasn't strong when they introduced the M4 a couple of years ago! I'm confident once Corvette gets over these growing pains they'll be back at the front!

just finished rewatching last year's race, great track and awesome racing!
but was gtd pro absent last year as well? i'm not sure which category was racing last year there pro or am?
Both GTD Pro and GTD were racing last year but GTD Pro only had 5 teams in the class so it would have been easy to miss them.
Cool to see Flying lizard back.... I thought thay did some GT4 in IMSA....that might have been SRO

On the one hand it's a little weird they're going Aston and not Lambo. On the other they had a couple Aston chassis for sale so I guess they have more parts?

The news about Katherine Legge saddens me. Maybe she was dropped from the GTD Acura driver lineup because they felt she gets involved in too many crashes? Hopefully that’s not the case.
That was NOT the reason. At Sebring, she got punted by a prototype. As he said, she found sponsorship for an Indy 500 run from a cosmetic company and it is highly possible the company may fund additional rides in 2024. The publicity this company is going to get an Indy is going to be mind boggling.

Sad to see the downfall of the Corvette. Hopefully, this season will be testing ground to develop a mighty race car for next season. I would love to see a Corvette consistently in victory lane again
They would have got P3 at Sebring if Heinrich didn't blatantly take Juncadella out, so the car definitely has great potential.
The car was not ready for customers. The car nearly killed AWA.
@@Synystr7 I give it two more races and AWA won't be in IMSA at all, and Corvette will have a new team running it's cars.
