    When you're hitting pop cans at 1000 yards i could care less about your groups too. That alone shows the accuracy of the rifle and the skill of the shooter.

    That’s interesting, that cut out in the left side of the chassis is based on the FAL so you could load the magazine while in the prone. It sucks that it rattles but a very thoughtful feature! What a great company

  • @krewlife333

    Bad ass review. Most people just sit at a table and talk about the gun. I was considering a ruger precision. But I’m pretty much sold on this now.

  • @Heywoodthepeckerwood
    @Heywoodthepeckerwood ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That cutout on the left side of the magwell is there for a reason. If you are lying prone and have a larger magazine, when you release it you can tilt/slide it out the side instead of lifting the rifle. It actually helps. Pretty sweet idea in a class or competition setting.

    • @ShastaBean

      confirming if you have the carbon-fiber barrel? And if so, not wishing it was the heavier steel with the .338 recoil? Am contemplating "add to cart", and I'm torn between the two barrel choices...Steel for $500 less and the extra weight. Also, any group size issues if you have the carbon barrel? Also, any of the extraction issues I've seen others mention in some comments?

    It's kind of funny I stumbled across your channel looking for 147 eld-m loads for my .260 rem. Then I see that you also have a .300 PRC. Great minds think alike. I thought maybe you lived in Oregon too like one of the commentors, but I'm guessing you're in the WA. Either way, great video. I probably could have saved a bunch of money if I had waited for the .300 PRC to go mainstream but I had GA Precision build me one instead. I'm just happy Atlas is making brass now. Time to load up some of this Reloder 26, IMR 8133, H1000 and the Berger 245 EOL and sierra 240 MK. I have yet to find a great accuracy load myself but I just got my ADG brass and haven't even fire formed all 100 pieces. I hope you do more 300 PRC videos in the future.

      @@ThatGuyChannel I have a Sandman S waiting in jail at the moment, it's primarily going on an AR but I am considering buying a Christensen MPR, haven't decided between a 6.5 or 300 yet. Does the suppressor really affect/increase recoil on this gun THAT much?

    • @ThatGuyChannel
      @ThatGuyChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion, the Sandman K doubled the recoil of the factory brake. It was apparent after the first shot that this rifle would not be suppressed with that suppressor. However, other suppressors may be better. I don’t have a ton of experience with suppressors.

I also wonder if the dead air brake that attaches to their suppressors does much.

      Recoil of this rifle is extremely manageable. Watch my other videos where I do extensive testing of the rifle and my NF scope. We all have good and bad days. I’ve shot groundhogs out to 400 yards with cheap hunting rifles and hit steel at further distances. But I’ve never been a 1/2 MOA group shooter even with good rifles....I need more practice breathing and etc.....not everyone can do it every time even with the best equipment. Love that rifle though!

    • @ThatGuyChannel
      @ThatGuyChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, yep I agree it sometimes will be like that. A good day of shooting for me means 1/2 MOA groups, but that’s not every time lol. One of my learning curves with shooting a chassis rifle has been that I need to squeeze the rear bag A LOT in order to get that 1/2 MOA. I don’t recall that much pressure was needed when I had my stock.

    I apologize if you already did a video covering this but I'm new to your page (this is the first video i watched). • @ThatGuyChannel
      @ThatGuyChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This gun would not be your best choice for typical competitions, however if you are planning to compete in terrain where you need to keep a lighter system, then yes it would be good. It’s accurate and reliable. Typically competition guns are significantly heavier than this one.

      She’s still doing good for the most part. Only real issue I have had is I have needed to reduce my powder charge weights due to sticky bolt lift using normal charge weights. I need to contact CA to figure the problem out but I’ve cleaned the barrel thoroughly of all copper and carbon using a camera and it looks all good. Basically I have to settle for 2,600 fps instead of the normal 2,900 fps with 220/230 bullets. As soon as I approach 2,700 I get signs of over pressure. Still shoots great, but haven’t had the time to talk to CA about it.

      The barrels aren’t solid carbon fiber, there is a steel core, it’s then wrapped in carbon to increase rigidity and help dissipate heat (though carbon isn’t great at heat dissipation)

    I've got news for you my friend. If you're not a good "group shooter", you're not a good shooter. Consistency is #1.

    • @ThatGuyChannel
      @ThatGuyChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The word good is subjective. For me good is 1/2 MOA at 100 yards, which I regularly achieve, but sometimes I’m in the 0.6 and 0.7, which by all means is good by many standards, yet to some is terrible. But your statement is spoken from someone who likely has never killed anything at any sort of respectable distance and doesn’t realize that shooting small groups is one of the least important factors in making clean first round kills. However I do agree with you, consistency is #1 and I am by no means saying I don’t have room to improve still haha

    • @OvertonWindex

      I recently have been having difficult bolt lifts. I had to reduce my load to be quite light, shooting around 2,600 fps now without difficulty with the bolt. So I got my rifle back today they lapped the bolt for me, and ultimatly I concluded that the issue was not a flaw with the rifle or a flaw at all. The issue I was having is Christensen uses a heavy duty spring for the bolt for lock up. Making it incredibly heavy to lift the bolt. So Reading thru forums that can inhance accuracy, I've ordered an 18 lb spring and I am going to do before and after accuracy shots and see if it is necessary to have such a heavy spring.
